Every. Single. Minecraft Structure Ranked From Worst To Best

hello i'm mpx toy cat and at time of recording this video there are 19 unique naturally generated structures found inside of minecraft and when you see them all side by side like this you realize just how different they are not only in terms of their appearance but also in terms of their experience that they offer the player and as a result of most people not having been to all of them i think it'd be fun to talk about each of the structures and the value they had to minecraft but way more fun than that because i'm a competitive person i think it'd be great to rank them all from 1 to 19 as to which one is the best and which one is flat out the worst and that's what we'll be doing in today's video which i hope you'll enjoy this is a big old list but it's something i think is important to go through and we're going to be ranking uh quite seriously in three categories because there's three major things a structure can provide to the player one is what i'm gonna call value the idea for excitement wanting to find the thing in your minecraft world this is something it needs to add it needs to fit into the world but it also needs to fit into the world in a way that makes you want to explore it and that also fits into the law you know the kind of minecraft universe and so that's what value is going to be the second thing is going to be loot let's be honest sometimes you want to go into a really complex uh temple structure because you you're interested in it but most the time you're there because you want the loot if a structure has good loot is inherently a better structure than a structure that has bad loot so loot is the second category and then the third structure because we're very vain over here despite looking like this am i right but i i am very vain and therefore i want my structures to look great good looking structures get some points in this category we add up the scores out of 10 and that's how we're going to determine what's the best structure and what's the worst structure so we're going to start on again we're going 1 to 10 by the way i need to clarify that because this first structure the 19th best structure in minecraft or some might call it the worst structure in minecraft is the desert well i honestly would really love to give this a negative one um for value and a negative a zero four uh loot and then maybe like a negative five for appearance because all it is is it's a well that can spawn in the desert it counts as a structure i wanted to believe it didn't i wanted to disqualify it from the list but it's a structure they added in 1.3 if i'm not mistaken and they were like yeah wouldn't it be cool if you could find water in deserts and that sounds great till you realize oh water is not rare in deserts there are rivers meandering through them also there are lakes and also it's made from sandstone it's so small it's so ugly and it's rare in a way that makes it not even that useful at its intended purpose of giving you water it is a really confusing structure again the value it adds is the minimum it can add to minecraft the loot it adds is zero water is not a form of loot but again with one to ten scale so it gets a one for loot and for appearance i do have to admit it's not ugly it just isn't anything it's just it's the most basic well that anyone could uh do but i guess it's not the most offensive thing in the game and that brings us into the 18th best structure in minecraft some might say the second worst i'm going to say the 18th best because positivity that's what i'm all about when i'm ranking my minecraft structures um so the 18th best structure in minecraft has to be the fossil in my opinion um i i think the fossil is a really interesting idea when you hear about it you're like oh that's interesting and so as a result it's gonna get a two for value it's not a one because you hear about it and it sounds interesting until you find your first one which will take you forever by the way they're incredibly rare and when you find it you're like oh i found a fossil what do i do with this and the answer is oh it just exists there you have to excavate it yourself and once you excavate it you have an ugly structure that by the way it's not even entirely made of bone blocks like you might be picturing your head it's made of bone blocks and coal all blocks so there's some color that's in there that's making it look kind of ugly anyway um which by the way is the closest thing you could consider to loot i guess if we're considering bone mail somewhat valuable in the early game and copy valuable the early game we'll give it a two but overall it's just the structure you find in like huh yeah this is a thing but it's too rare it only sounds good the moment you find one you never have interest in finding another one again and that's why it only gets a two for value but it does get a free for appearance because i mean some of the fossils at the very least do look pretty good i mean pretty good might be stretching it but they they look like fossils and again we have to give them points for that what we can't give points to though is the 17th best structure in minecraft now we're getting controversial i mean the desert temple and the fossil a lot of people don't even really consider them structures because you can't stand in them i guess you could stand in a desert well but you wouldn't want to um for any reason whatsoever but the next structure is one you might want to stand inside because the witch hut is a really interesting idea as well again the witch hut when it first came out everyone was like ooh what's this all about you go into one and you realize oh which is spawn here and that's kind of the end of it it is worth saying the witch hut gets a nice little bump up here to a free for value because technically you know there is like a farming capability that like end game players really love from the witch's hut because again witches are meant to spawn there and something something something uh but in terms of the average player you see a witcher and you're like oh that's cool um if you're playing on bedrock you can find potions inside the cauldron and that's a fun little uh bonus i guess uh but as far as like uh you know do you want to go to this thing ever again does it add any law to the minecraft world no it just makes the swamps feel slightly less empty and that's why it gets it free um it also it's gonna get a two for loop because i mean there's a flower pot that gives you a flower we could argue that's a form of loot there is i mean there's there's a cauldron in there which is worth seven iron and then there's also a potion which might be a potion you care about most people are not going to take the potion from it most again the the the time period where you have glass bottles and you would find value from a potion is so small that the structure just hits uh misses the mark i think it'd be clever if there was like a secret chest underneath it with uh you know some potions in uh some potion bottles in and that way like players who were in the know could get a sneaky potion would be great for speedrunners would be great for casual players that had like watched a youtube tutorial because minecraft is a game all about sharing experiences right um and then you could argue at something but right now you see a witch-hunt and you're like oh yeah i'll come back to that in a thousand hours of gameplay maybe if i want a witch farm and yeah that's why it's uh that's why it's like it is but i have to get a full alpha 10 for its appearance because i mean it's it's not terrible it looks it's like i i like the witch hut and i think i'm alone in that one but i'm giving it a four and you can come at me if you disagree with that what can't come at me though is gonna have to be the ocean ruins the ocean ruins are a really cool sounding structure again like oh what if there were ruins of previous civilizations below the ocean you're like oh i'm listening and what if in some of those ruins you could find uh chests it's like i'm listening and that's that's the structure and so yeah hidden below the sand or the gravel in these uh things you can sometimes find chests and therefore because you have to like almost drown yourself to get these things you would figure they'd be really great right no uh the chest drops include leather chest plates uh the best thing i've ever gotten was like a helmet with efficiency one on or something like i i finding good things from these chests is not a common place of currents and given the effort required to get them uh the loot is something i have to say is uh gonna have to go down to a three out of ten but value you know we're gonna we have to go in order or someone's gonna be like toy cat you made a very clear order and now you're deviating so fine we'll go back to value and we'll say that this is a four again it sounds really interesting and if you find something good which is possible at least unlike all of the structures so far um you might want to come back to it so sure i'll i'll give it some good points some value and then appearance i'm going to give a free i think these things are so ugly i i don't like them in the slightest but everyone yeah people that look at them are like oh it looks so ruined it looks rustic or whatever no i don't see it i think you're wrong i think your opinions are wrong and that is why i'm giving my opinions today you know i'm i'm the youtuber giving opinions that are clearly uh slightly biased by my own uh conceptions of minecraft but that's okay because that's the point of this ranking all the mob ranking all the uh structures video wow can you tell where the idea from this video came from maybe it was ranking all 69 mobs from 169 who knows for sure what you don't know for sure though is the stronghold or as i like to refer to it the 15th best structure in minecraft and the reason i like to refer to it is that um i i'll be honest i've never done so before now is because it's a really fun idea it's a really great concept that adds value to the game exclusively by being the way you find the end portal um the stronghold is a really interesting place because it has to be found in any minecraft run whether a speed run wherever a casual who just wants to get shulker boxes or the elytra you have to come to this stronghold and so you'd figure given that it's one of the few points in minecraft that can guarantee everyone's coming through they would make this a really interesting place with a lot of unique and it's just it's just some bland gray stone brick corridors uh some of which have so efficient which will eventually lead you to an end portal the end portal great resource great thing people want to come back to but as far as the structure itself if we ignore the end portal as the little uh chord enough part of it the structure itself does not bring people uh to it if you didn't have an n portal in there if you didn't have a need to beat the ender dragon would you ever be like yeah let's go look for the stronghold i hear about those library rooms they're so exciting they do have great enchantments i love the the loot that comes from them that's why we get a loot rating of five for the stronghold because enchanted books ender pearls sometimes uh iron armor and you know rare resources like that it's a great structure in terms of the point in the game that you're at for giving you a little boost towards the dragon potentially and uh you know towards getting you started on the enchantment game even more potentially but as far as what does the structure do the structure exists in the ground and is boring and it wasn't very interesting in 2011 and it hasn't been interesting in the nine years it's gone about an update since um should minecraft structures update it seems as though the general consensus from mojang is generally not very few of the items on this list have seen an update um but i think the stronghold is perhaps the most in need of one because it just reeks of old minecraft as opposed to new minecraft it reeks off uh we make this here because you have nothing else to do rather than oh this is exciting and you want to come here and that's why it gets a four for value and honestly as far as appearance goes i mean again i i think it does the job of being like a fun little maze to some extent but no no no it feels bland and monotonous and no one is excited about the appearance of a stronghold it gets a two the only reason it gets a two is because again those library rooms with all the bookcases you can take those bookcases and those rooms actually look pretty cool in my opinion the rest of the stronghold is kind of ah i would rather i get i could do without it more than i could do with it um and uh that's why it gets just a two out of ten for appearance and that's what's gonna bring us next into the jungle temple so the jungle temple super interesting structure right i mean uh it spawns in jungles and you want to go to them because there's spooky jungle traps and i do i'll admit like that the jungle temple has to get a value rating of four because you know what you want to go there when you first hear about one maybe when you first see on a video and you're like oh it's a jungle temple i i wanna i wanna find all these dispensers and these traps and then you realize there is literally one trap in this whole thing and it's they fire an arrow at you for a dispenser it's very easy to dodge you just go to the left or to the right um it's it's very very simple stuff and the you know the reward for going through these deep and complex temporary traps is oh yeah you find a single chest with some lieutenant and then there is a second oh it's a puzzle except the puzzle you can just break it off the wall like any redstone like this this structure makes the mistake of naturally spawning redstone into minecraft redstone in minecraft survival will never work because you can just break behind things to find it so value is going to be a four sounds great the first time after that you're gonna come here exclusively for loot never because it's fun and um it's uh you know i'm gonna give it a a solid six for loot because those two chests can contain amazing things they're even a great source of bamboo uh you know bamboo is something you might want because it leads to all the the panda side of things and also just bamboo farms they're nice this is one of the ways to find bamboo it has a rare resource that is best found here that is great that is good game design by accident which they did for an update by the way um and then we have appearance i'm gonna give this a free i like it because it's distinctly minecraft but i can't say i like it because it's just a great looking build by itself i mean it's made from mossy cobblestone and cobblestone there's weird jetty outfits that i genuinely don't understand who was this designed by let's be honest it was probably like jeb or another minecraft programmer that was just like oh yeah i did this this afternoon well uh we'll replace this later and they're like yeah we'll replace this later and here we are nine uh years later almost being like huh i guess we never replaced that later that is a actually i guess it's more than nine years now more than nine years being like yeah this structure looks perfect i think this is another structure that could really do with a revamp from its 2011 cent that self i think just the bamboo just the single drop change still a lot but again it made the mistake of thinking redstone in minecraft survival would work any redstone and survival minecraft you can break your way around survival is not bound by the same rules that redstone are redstone is a helpful thing that can never really work against the player for the most part again you can make anti-breaking redstone but they didn't do that they they just gave you some stuff maybe it's there to teach people about redstone in the first place in which case pretty cool but um maybe i'm just too destructive a player and you're saying to a cat just don't break the redstone it's a cool mystery why are you doing that to yourself but that's just my opinion and this is my rankings which is why we'll move next into the pillager outpost so i was kind of dunking on old structures for a while there um with the exception being the ocean ruins of course but the uh i would say the pillager outpost is one of the newest structures that just hit misses the mark i mean it's uh i'm gonna give it a value of six these things have a cool law to them wow did you know there are these pillagers in the minecraft world that want to take down villages they have these towers these little bases that they uh you know kind of uh around did you know these mobs have a crazy long distance they'll follow you from because they want you dead because you associate with villagers did you know if you go to these towers and kill their captain you get an effect that can start a raid in your village it's really cool it's a really great idea but once you find it once and you kill the pillager captain and you get that raid effect um the only value in these is like oh do i need a pillager raid i'll go look for one actually it's probably better just to let one come to me like it the the value you'll get in them is not better than the value of finding them it's a pleasant surprise when you do and you can use it if you do um but honestly as far as like everything else about it it's just kind of meh like the loot for instance you know six out of 10 value but three out of 10 for loot because crossbows and some some some wood if you're really lucky there's a trap dying golem outside but to get that trap dying golem you have to kill all the the pillagers on the inside um it's just a structure that doesn't contribute much loot to the game which is a shame given the mega structure like there was room to put in a secret chest or something um but they just have a single chest that usually has a crossbow sometimes some bottle enchantings which are cool and rare but like yeah is that really going to help so yeah pillager outpost uh gets a free for loot and then we're going to give it a 5 4 uh we're going to give it a 5 for appearance because i do like the look of the pillager outpost i think it is a good looking structure it's a good sounding structure they just missed a little bit between those two things again there's a great lore to it there's a great look to it but they just miss the gap between those two things so yeah we add up all those scores together and we get a solid 14 out of 30. wow we're in the leagues where like these structures are better than they are bad and that's going to bring us into the next one here because the mine shaft is going to be a structure that is it's close to my heart you know what i love caves do you know when i want cave updates now all the time in my heart please where is the cape update can we wait till summer of 2020 20 2021 even you know i i just i'm just saying this is this has been a hard year for all of us mojang we need a cave update and we need it sooner i can't wait another six months i'm inside my house now mojang give me a cave update and inside that cave update maybe we could tweak mine sharps because the abandoned mine shaft is a cool idea when i first dug into one i loved it so much when i second dug into one i was vaguely on board with the concept i guess and you know every time i find one now i use it as a set of mine shaft caves so i find it to be very useful as a set of tunnels i think most people are not on that same path though like you can use a mine shaft as a way to find rails as a way to find ores and as a way to use their chests which are kind of okay that's why we'll give it a loot rating of five it's perfectly okay there's there's nothing standout amazing there but there's a lot of things that are pretty useful but the value is free because of the fact that it's just like there it's just tunnels it's just tunnels that go sometimes kind of low it would be great if there was some end purpose of the mine shaft it'd be great if around the mine shark morals would spawn you know when you hit dead ends in the mine shaft it shouldn't just be a stone wall it should be a wall that perhaps has more diamonds or lapis or gold than normal because that's where the you know the people who made this mineshaft were mining i think tiny bits of law could go a long way and this is the structure that sounds like it has the best law but then in reality it's just random tunnels under the ground again it's so close to great but it's not maybe that's why i'm giving it uh some points down and i'm gonna give it an appearance rating of six here which i think is going to be controversial but i think the reason i say that is because it's very functional appearance it's just a set of tunnels that are repeatable um and it feels again it's got that kind of mazy feel in a way that is actually good when you're when you're in the early or the mid game you're actually excited or curious around what's around each corner uh there could be skeletons around there that will mess you up and that is fun that is actually fun that is unique that is an appearance that works well in game design i i think they're one of the best design structures in the game in terms of the solo survival experience which you know if you if you're using structures and creative what's the point they're just pre-built things just download a map or something for survival the mine shaft is great appearance rating six you might argue that that should be a value rating not an appearance rating but it's my rating system whatever man uh i do do i want to rate it 5.5 even though i said whole numbers you better believe i can do i want to rate it i out of 10 i can use irrational numbers the number system means nothing to me it means as little as the next item on this list the dungeon the dungeon being in minecraft is a cool fun unique way of explaining where all these zombies and skeletons come from there are these magical spawners that make skeletons appear out of thin air that's what's happening they spawn at you know like they come out from the caves at night but where how do they get to the caves they get the case from these uh you know mob spawners and a cool little uh detail about uh dungeons on bedrock at least i don't believe this is on java but they always connect to two caves so you look for a cave you'll always find eventually a dungeon it's fun it's great it's a way of finding spiders and skeletons and zombies and value-wise it's an eight right because you always want to find these things because you know you either get a huge boost of experience now or you can make a mob farm later for rotten flesh bones skeleton arrows and skeleton bows you know just bows and arrows we'll call it uh or string which can be used to make wool or spider eyes if you're a serial killer that thinks that's a useful item in minecraft um you know there are all these different resources you can get from them it's great it's wonderful and then on top of that there's two chests just in case you don't care about experience or the later game value it also gives you chests and on top of that it's a scary experience for the base game because again if you are playing hardcore or you don't have much health going into one of these will result in a lot of fights and i love that i think it's such a great structure in terms of value it adds i think it's such a great structure in terms of the loot it gives you or at least a good structure i'm gonna give it a five out of ten because let's be honest um it gives you two chests sometimes most the time but the loot that you get in there is music discs which the first time is great not so great afterwards um and then it's like saddles and it's a it's all the rare things that you might need but they all feel very niching out there like it's very specific loot that you might want sometimes there's enchanted apples and it makes it a 10 out of 10. and sometimes there's just music's wheat and redstone which is it like again the the loot hasn't been updated that's why it's 5 out of 10 but as far as appearance goes can you name an ugly minecraft structure you know how i just ripped on the jungle temple being made out of cobblestone and mossy cobblestone i don't understand how this structure existed before and you know like the jungle temple is seriously an improvement on this there are three types of uh dungeons by the way in minecraft this is one of the first uh you know like there's some variants of this and you might be like oh there's variants i haven't seen no no you've seen all three variants they look like this this and this it's crazy how similar they look to each other um because they're all just the same thing ugly blocks of a little mob spawner in the middle i think having some more protected mob spawners some less protected mob spawners some differently designed multi-story ones that would be a great idea the dungeon could be great and that's that's something i i think they're missing out on also interesting fact most people don't know it's called the dungeon most people just call them mob spawners because the mob spawner is the most interesting birthday so maybe it's got that syndrome where like it's all focused in one place too much who knows for sure i don't know all i know about is the desert temple which is the next greatest one right here and by the way i'd like to use this as an opportunity to say party time we've reached the top 10 list we did it we got here before we get into the top 10 list that now we're going into the 10 big ones i want to quickly ask have you considered subscribing to the channel i know every youtuber says don't you want those two things i appreciate it if you did but if you don't let's move into the top ten so the desert temple has to be the 10th best structure in minecraft the reason i'm giving it 10 uh the reason it makes the top 10 it's not going to be the value i mean have you ever thought to yourself oh a desert temple that'd be fun no you thought to yourself oh yeah there's stuff inside a desert temple i really want whether it's the tnt whether it's the four chests filled with sometimes amazing loot it is a structure that survives on its loot and its appearance alone the appearance is distinctive it is minecrafty and um it's one of the few structures which has received an update it used to have wool in the towers now it has um terra cotta in there i'd argue it should be concrete that fits with the desert better but i don't know if they want to change it a third time but um a second time the desert temple is a great looking structure with a great bunch of loot that's only missing which is interesting because this is our first example of a structure that doesn't even sound great it just is because of the gameplay advantages you can make a structured grand minecraft in three different ways the three different categories um i think if you get two of those categories you have a good structure once you hit all three you have a great structure and you're not the desert temple doesn't need to have a story just needs to be like oh someone set a trap here probably maybe i don't know it's just cool the first time you go in it'll probably explode you that'll be fun you'll want to avoid that again i'll admit it happened to me the first time and never again uh every single day people are going into desert temples falling for that trap and isn't that beautiful to think about i think that that is beautiful to think about what i also think is beautiful to think about is the ninth best structure in minecraft so if the desert temple is the tenth what is the ninth the wooden mansion the one i mentioned you know like it's a structure you want to find only because you've never seen one before as soon as you you know the wooden mansion is such a rare structure that it feels that niche role of having a structure that most players haven't seen it fills the niche role of having a structure uh that every player wants to find eventually and there are even maps that can lead you towards this because it's so hard to find otherwise um they had to like make it even easier to find um like there is a law around finding this thing but i think the law and making it so rare is kind of disappointed when you get in there and it's not as challenging as you might have hoped again if you're playing hard or hardcore actually it is terrifying sure uh and maybe that's enough but like the rarity of the structure and the coolness of it don't really line up perfectly in my opinion maybe it's because i play console audition where there are a dumb number for william mansion spawning just all the time seriously if you have less than two or three william mentions per thousand by thousand world something's gone wrong with your console edition there so um yeah maybe it's because i'm from there where i'm just so used to them i fought through so many of these things um but i i just think that they've got a lot of slinginess to them and i think the the value in wanting to come back to them is like nope you go to one one in your world never again you go to honestly the the biggest thing they had going for them they they would have been higher on this list if i hadn't released this in 2021 because here's the thing here's the missing ingredient uh that you don't realize is that now the biggest value of the woolen mansion the only way to get totems of undying as well as illegals of their whole types those spawn and pillager rates now the the outpost the pillager outpost has not only taken away uh not only been a bad value at by itself but also it's taken away from the william mansion because now the world mentions just a awkward out of the way way to get those things i'll admit it's still loot value eight you can get not only totems of undying here you can get not only diamond chest plates with enchantments on but also you know my favorite thing uh you can get diamond hoes here too if only they have loyalty on am i right you know that's that's what i'm saying am i right fellas i i i am right because i'm the one saying the words and it's my list again you know we can we're going to rent the rank that will mention a diamond hoe out of 10 in terms of its appearance what are you going to do about it you can't do anything about it because it's it's my list what is a diamond hole worth well you know what actually it does convert very neatly to five points out of 10 for appearance because it's big it's bulky i i don't want to say ugly but it's very uh boxy you know i'm just saying people people like people like their curves should those curves be in minecraft maybe i'd argue not but the the willow mansion is like a hilarious overstatement of this it doesn't ever fit into the terrain in a logical consistent way and um honestly again with the pillager outpost why do the woodland mansions exist surely the pillagers that you know the pillager outposts explain a lot more also do the pillagers and these guys get together why why do these guys join the pillagers on their raids but what like what's what's the what's the scoop of all of this i'm so curious and um maybe you are too or maybe you're curious about the eighth best structure inside of minecraft the never fortress so value five and it only gets a five very unwittingly because you have to come here to get blaze rods there is no other way uh to come here uh for both of the bosses actually both the blaze rods can only be found by going to the structure and wither skeletons can only be found spawning in this structure this structure is deliberately the only way to fight even if the two bosses in minecraft um you know it's literally blocking your pathway and even if you want to go to the never and find in fact it if you want to do never progression the only way to find diamonds and iron in the nether is through this structure as well this structure is the bottleneck and it forces itself to be valuable so i give it a 5 very unwittingly also known as a diamond hoe out of ten so it gets a five for value it gets what in my opinion is a very generous eight for loot because again if we if we ignore those things because they're part of the value if we look at the loot in the chests you can get diamonds you can get gold you can get iron but then more importantly you get horse armor here at very high frequencies love that you can get never warts here great for potions by the way dimension the structure i didn't even mention this structure also holds back the entire potion part of the game you need to come here to do the vast majority of minecraft minecraft is an open world game until you come to the nether and then it's the never fortress come to the nether fortress you're not going to find any value anywhere else in the goddamn never anyway with that said let's focus on the uh the the loot it's an eight it has everything here and a lot of it's very good you can get gold chest plates which are useful given the piglens you can get resources you can get horse armor uh you can get it all here it's delightful the number of times i've been saved by the loot in this place is incredible i love it you should love it too but what you should also love perhaps we should say mayhaps we should uh reference uh its appearance which is gonna be a five out of ten but you should also love the seventh best structure in minecraft the ocean monument and this thing it's going to have a you know like the the without the ocean monument the oceans would be nothing there would be no risks in them besides drowns there's no like major risk you've got to watch out for this ocean monument makes you want to avoid it if not for the guardians that fire laser beams at you why are there laser beams in minecraft i don't know but i love it um you know like this this is a structure that buys laser beams at you pew pew pew but also when you go near it the elder guardians will give you mining fatigue for real you get a serious debuff for a really long amount of time from the laser firing fish monsters um so this the value of the structure is it makes the oceans have something you fear you need to have resources to come here because they removed all of the water logging tricks in uh 1.13 when they made water work the way it does um so you you need to do some craziness of sand if you want to come here without stuff it's going to be very very hard for you to survive without waterproofing potions it's going to be even hard if you'd survive about decent tools because all of the enemies right here pierce through armor and also all of the enemies do damage to you when you attack them they have spikes that attack you back it's cool it's scary it makes the oceans worthwhile it is one of my favorite structures in terms of the law behind it um and uh you know honestly that's its strongest suit eight out of 10 for value the highest rating we can give a structure so far on a one to ten scale if only there was something higher we could give but we just can't eight out of 10 is the highest we go but also we have to consider the loot so what can you find inside an ocean monument there's no loot per se in here but there are two incredible things that you find off to the side just while looking for the old guardians again most people come here trying to slay those elder guardians so they can be done with their day but the real value in the usher monument are the things you sneakily find along the way you know maybe i'm just gushing about you know like the the world around it and how this is good game design but i love how you can find along the way sponge rooms you find wet sponges where sponges can be dried off and then used to drain huge amounts of water would have been useful to have sponges when fighting this thing huh um and then also inside one of the rooms you find eight gold blocks just chilling in the center there uh it's a mystery most people don't know about and i love little secrets like this because although you know again little secrets like this reward you for knowing about the structure um for knowing about this thing ahead of time and i think having more knowledge based minecraft rewards it's a good thing it makes you feel good for enjoying minecraft and that's why the ocean monument scores so highly on this list in fact it's gonna seem so ridiculous when you see the next item here because you know let's let's just let's just let's just go for it you know i think the igloo is a better structure than the ocean monument yeah this thing better than this thing why how is that true how what how what it what am i saying right here well okay hear me out again so the igloo is a structure that i used to think oh yeah that's that's the thing i guess and then i learned recently about how clever the design is of the thing because it's deliberately put out so that there's ice in the windows except on bedrock where they miss the member apparently and that means that when you light the furnace on fire the water melts which gets rid of all the carpet revealing if there is a trapdoor underneath it or not this is such a cool piece of minecraft storytelling and when you find an igloo the you know the kind of like 50 50 will i find the basement is a really great thing because that gives you access to two actually three really great resources one is a brewing stand this used to be the only naturally generated brewing stand um you could find in minecraft so you could actually get potions going it's it used to be the only naturally uh generated bed in minecraft as well as furnace actually but like so whole side no sorry as well as uh the crafting table actually but whole side note there right um so it's got all these unique resources that are valuable the players love and then in the basement there's a villager and a zombie villager and it tells you you should turn them between them by giving you a golden apple and a splash potion of weakness it is such a smart way to teach people about a core game mechanic and i love it the first time you find it there's a good chance you're going to learn some cool stuff about minecraft the second time you find it you're still going to be excited because you get a golden apple bare minimum and every other time you find it you're like oh is this one of the one of the good ones and i'll admit that's why i can't give it a 10. it's really well designed in terms of having like uh a surface level oh there's a bed i can sleep for the night the more surface level of oh there's a golden apple and a potion and i can make a thing and then the even more um you know deep level of this is a great way to get zombie villagers and is likely to be some key strap for speed running i love the igloo i love the the lore behind it it gets a 9 out of 10 as far as value goes as far as loot goes we have to admit half of them have nothing besides a bed the other half have a golden apple and sometimes some coal and a splash potion weakness those things are valuable but given that it's a 50 50 chance of like kind of valuable things i'm giving it a 4 out of 10 and as far as appearance goes i want to give this higher but it's just an igloo there's nothing special about it it's a solid diamond toe plus 1 out of 10. that's that's how this ranking system works now we just used diamond holes as our reference point so next up we've got the ruin portal what is a ruin portal i hear you asking if you haven't played in the last eight months i've ruined portal is a structure that it's the first structure that generates in multiple dimensions um you could argue the fossils do but never fossils are technically a different structure but also never fossils are so common i don't consider them a structure so that's why they're not on this list but the room portal is the only structure on this list that generates in two dimensions the nether and the overworld they are portals that are in some degree of completion usually have they have a love pit below them and then they have a chest next to them the key you know the value of this is incredible this is a great way you know most minecraft players even now have not been to the never in survival um and probably according to minecraft's internal communications most minecraft players have never been to the never full stop that is uh astounding to think about two thirds of minecraft players never enjoying one of the key features of the game because it just never comes up right i mean how would you know you've got to make one of those portals unless you watch a video or something where someone does precisely that in fact the first time someone told me about that i was like what you just made a portal to another dimension it was confusing and i love that minecraft is trying to teach people about this like oh it's missing a block here it's missing i wonder if you could like fill that in and there'd be something to that it's like reminding people nudging people to go to the nether but it has a really cool law element because they're like trent you know again it shows there is a link between the two dimensions because two room portals can exist on both sides it's so great and when well you know so value nine it teaches people about the the never and it's one of the funniest structures to see right now i think you know there is a recency bias i worry that in a few years i might think oh god there's so many of these they're annoying but right now they fit the game perfectly for the needs and you know maybe i'll regret these comments later but right now no regrets no regrets what i do have regrets about though is the room portal chest it's so highly variable you there's just a single chest that single chest can contain such dumb out of the way things an enchanted golden hole or a bunch of golden carrots or some obsidian to help you go to the nether and a flint and steel or it can contain none of that stuff and it's just a few iron nuggets and some fire charges in the corner the variability of this um loot chest is so high that even though some of the items are crazy high power levels i think it's like it's not a reliable structure because who knows what you're gonna get from it you literally don't know and maybe that's what minecraft loot should be maybe it should be lots of differently distinct things but i find it to be such a nightmare that i could only give it a six and appearance wise i'm gonna give it a five there's again i love the new trend of minecraft structures having lots of different appearances but i think most of them are just portals in the earth world some of them are really cool looking when you find them underwater that's great when you find them uh hidden underground wonderful when you find the giant ones they're cool and unique and as a result i'm gonna give it a diamond hoe in terms of appearance you know it's uh it's something that is close to my heart and actually wait i'm gonna go to golden hoe for appearance because it it's like a diamond hoe but it's slightly less reliable am i right am i am i right it needs to have loyalty on there actually i'd rather have a diamond toe than one with a gold hoe even with loyalty on because the gold hole break and die you know what think about it this way is it okay to get a hoe that you know is going to die very soon is is is that like is that you being selfish or is that you doing a good thing tell me what you think in the comments down below but don't tell me what you think about the shipwreck because i've i've got the opinions you know how these videos work my opinions are god for no good reason other than because you need to have an authoritative you know way to explain the way you're ranking things and if you say that you're just going to go over the general opinion then i guess all 19 structures are equal but they're not equal because the shipwreck is great i love the shipwreck because it has so many different uh designs and each of those designs feel like a different ship that is sunk because they're they come in different forms of uh you know like breakingness some of them are upside down some are just missing a bit of the bow some of them even land on land which is great and so they're a little thing to find above the ocean floor and you swim into them and you find good loot it's as simple as that it you know again not every minecraft law for structure needs to be this whole deep complex thing the fact that i love both the igloo and the ocean monument despite the fact that the ocean monument is this deep complex thing the igloo's just a little white house that has a basement under it i love the uh i love the shipwreck for similar reasons it's so simple it does the job it shows that clearly there were people in this world before those people had their boats sink quite a lot of them in fact you even see the reasons why when you see magma in the ground and you can take some of their loot and you can find their buried treasure chest perhaps which will lead you to there are literally treasure maps in these things it's such a fun little adventure um and they make the oceans uh feel like they're fun and have rewards again the yoshi monuments add the pain and the late game to the oceans shipwrecks are really simple early game content done right in my opinion so they're going to get a 7 out of 10 for value they're going to get a 8 out of 10 for loot because i mean treasure chests can find diamonds and waterfront potions chain male armor even like red stuff like that love it as far as appearance goes you know i'm gonna get i'm gonna give it a solid never right hoe out of 10 because you know what it's it's it's it's not awful it's it's not it's not bad but i don't think i can say it's one of the best looking structures i can just say i like it and then we can start a flame war in the comments because people disagree okay we're in the top three now we're in the the medal placing category i'm gonna email a bronze medal to my third place here because the end city is something i love you these are the only structures found in the end uh they're pretty lonely admittedly maybe if there are more structures i'd start hate these more by comparison um but they are something that had a real reason to go to the end islands and there's something that add a real unique kind of quirk to the game because it's the first time again like the whole like shock is shooting you up it's the first time in a structure that you have to worry about parkour in a real genuine way you know how i said that like oh yeah there's no use adding redstone to minecraft unless you know because players can just circumvent it there's no point adding parkour to any structure because you just you just don't do it so most minecraft structures don't have parkour involved but the uh the end city does because it has this brand new effect you haven't seen at any point in the game until then it has the levitation effect this will ruin players on their runs and when you're in the end dying is really tragic so it's it's great and coming here to kill those shulkers to get their boxes is also a wonderful thing i love the end cities uh they value the the unique lore and the the value against the end islands cannot be understated it gets a solid eight out of ten there but it's also going to have to get a 10 out of 10 for loot gold standard or never right standard or whatever whatever we're saying here this is the best loot in the game bar none it is incredible like it's it feels like it's something is broken when you look inside an entity chest and you find a maximally enchanted diamond pickaxe or you find uh you know like a wonderfully enchanted diamond chest plate and then you also find free diamond shovels and uh you know like six diamonds in there like you you can find seriously good gear and it's because at this point you've defeated the enderdragon this is your final challenge it's just giving you some stuff to reward you for coming here i love it a lot uh if we're if we're gonna count the shulker boxes as loot it gives you the latest game item you can find and then also it gives you some really unique uh blocks in the form of purple love these structures in terms of what they give the player 10 out of 10 gold standard you know we have to do some fun editing for that aren't we but what we're also gonna have to say is the end city is great in terms of value great in terms of loot but it feels short in terms of its appearance and you know what just look at this thing sure it's ugly by itself but then wait till i tell you that the towers aren't centered around the bases they built them around different amounts of why why did they do that why do you do this to us why why minecraft it's it's it's painful to look at and it's also just not a particularly pretty structure anyway i like the end ships part of them but those are 50 50. and i guess the by the way the elytra didn't even mention that you can find elytra's here in those low-end ships but uh yeah i love the little end ship part of it rest of the structure could take it or leave it solid diamond out of ten so finally we move into the silver place medal civil place medal goes to the village of the large if you will which is such a greatly designed thing even the old villages were kind of interesting to see then they added villages and they got more interesting because there was trading to be done the new school villages in minecraft are the best structure because there are six different designs it varies based on the biome that you're in and every single time you go to a village you know there are fresh trades to be found there it is such a cool piece of minecraft law knowing that every single village you go into is going to be entirely different to the last in terms of structure in terms of its appearance and knowing that that village can you know you can you can become friends of that village by either fighting off their enemies uh by trading with them or you know by doing other various favors but like you can level up the villagers so they give you better and better things there is like a friendly rating um in minecraft they added a whole trading system they did a whole like way to use those trades to get pretty much anything you want um i i love the trading system in 1.14 it is one of the best game mechanics they have they've ever like replayed around with it feels fun it feels intuitive it feels like you can customize a village from the ground basically while also giving you six unique uh you know biome uh differentiations of it i love the village in terms it's value that it offers you as a player um it makes you want to find villagers and again because it's so it works early game works late game works mid-game there is no other structure that is so perfect across those three things besides the village and that's where it gets the gold never right standard of a 10 out of 10 uh for value but what it doesn't get is a 10 out of 10 for loot let's be honest the loot is good here often times every village will give you food of some form varying qualities every village will give you some wood if you want it and there's an iron golem you can kill for some iron and you know let's let's exclude the iron because you have to kill someone for that and say that like yeah you get basic necessities in these villages but then sometimes again it's uh this adds to the fun of it in my opinion sometimes you find blacksmiths that can give you really good boost to the game you get two bits of lava you get two furnaces and then more importantly you get diamonds or obsidian i've gone straight to the never from a village before and uh yeah the fact that it keeps you wanting these things will also give you food to keep you going on your journey uh great for speed running great for the casual player great for everyone is there anyone who hates a village i think not that's why it gets a seven out of seven for loot seven out of seven four appearance and a 24 out of 30 overall the second highest ranking but you know someone has to come first right and i'm gonna give the gold medal place here to the bastion the bastion if you think about it it's kind of the nevery version of a village and i think it definitely you know suffers in terms of value like you want to come here because it's interesting you want to come here because of the gold blocks you want to come here because the magma spawners and the the way you can find so many piglens in one place it's a piglen-filled structure in a world where piglens can provide some of the most interesting items in minecraft um so it's a it's a really interesting value sale it doesn't get a 10 out of 10. it doesn't get a 9 out of 10. but it does get an 8 out of 10 here because the you know again the four different variations of it means that every time you find one it feels slightly different it feels risky it feels like you have no idea what's going on and when you add to the fact that it's in the nether and everything is already more dangerous i like the fun of it because some of them have hoglands in them some of them generate directly on the lava there's so much going on here that is very very terrifying um so value eight out of ten loot nine out of ten you can get diamonds here but way more importantly every single one of these structures gives you a huge number of gold blocks sometimes the gold blocks are hard to get sometimes there's just 10 of them lying on a bridge together but the fact that you can get all of that together makes this one of the best structures in the game for loot bar just the end city i would say and then appearance wise um i would say it's actually a mixed bag i'd say um that the uh the bridge is one of my favorite ones when it generates properly i'd say the structures themselves look incredible but when you see them generating in the nether they seem to be a bit more mixed when you have a perfect generation of these structures they are an incredibly intimidating minecrafty because it's boxy but also uniquely designed on the inside thing um and when you see one of these messed into a wall you're like oh this this is weird this is strange but to me i still have to give it an 8 out of 10 because it's one of the best looking structures because you genuinely don't even know which one you're going into half the time until you're nearby the thing i love the bastion remnants so much um i would love to see more variants in the future but the truth is the bastion is such a you know the bastion the village and the end city are free structures so perfect they don't need reworks every other item on this list could use with some changes but those free structures maybe because they're all relatively new but those three structures are all very perfect i would love to talk all day about how we could improve each of the structures be like you know jungle temple could use this the desert temple could use this the mine shaft needs this but i've been going on for 45 minutes already apparently that's that's a long time to talk about structures i hope you enjoy this ranking all the structures video i i love to just talk about things uh that i find interesting in minecraft
