THE STORY OF DRAGON’S DOGMA! (What You Need To Know)

[Music] Dragon's Dogma 2 is out very soon so today we recap the story from the first game the tale of the Arisen the dragon the overseer of the world and the endless cycle that must be [Music] [Applause] [Music] broken this video will be an overview of the most important elements of the story a super long video could be made on each Quest going super in depth but we'll cover the important check out their channel in the description down below the game begins with you playing as an Arisen characters whose Destiny and Quest is to set out and destroy the dragon in the prologue as this Arisen you encounter the dragon and fight various creature with your Pawns this serves as a tutorial Mission but also sets up the cyclical lore of the universe come here means death for in my after a couple of fights the true game begins making your character you begin in the village of cassardis which is under attack by a dragon named Gregory Gregory takes makes your Arisen character's heart thus beginning the quest of the game to get it back and fight the [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] dragon [Music] take up arms once the dragon takes an arisen's heart they are connected the Arisen able to communicate with the dragon through their chest when this happens an Arisen does not age and has immunity to sickness but still can die in battle as the wiki says the Vitality of the arisin is linked to their heart being kept by the dragon so as long as the Dragon lives the Arisen cannot die save for in battle subsequently when the dragon dies all Arisen who have not reclaimed their heart will age the amount of time that their heart was kept the setting is open world exploration and has the players explore the vast land of Gris completing quests and battling a variety of monsters and foes the pawn system is introduced early on allowing players to recruit other players pawns to Aid in their Journey providing a unique blend of single player and multiplayer experiences or you could just have your own pawns if you were offline pawns are ethereal beings created to Aid the Arisen in their Quest they are similar to humans but lack the full range of human emotions and willpower throughout the story you'll learn that pwns are more than just servants they're essential companions in the arisen's journey the game features moral choices that affect the world and story's outcome particularly the choice the Arisen must make when facing Gregory the dragon the dragon appears at the beginning of the game but vanishes for most of it until a small confrontation and then a battle if you would face me seek me out and I shall allow it but he the zeelot lesson well when the weak C death they find it your risen starts very weak in the town of cassardis as you fight this Dragon for the first time or try to when it takes your heart but as the game progresses you get more and more power become the superhero of a character and are able to protect these towns Advance your own weaponry and abilities and take on the dragon once and for all on the way though you'll traveled to the capital of grand saor encountering various allies and enemies including Mercedes Martin a knight from a neighboring nation and the Duke of Gres Edmund dragonsbane who previously defeated a dragon and gained Eternal youth more on that in a bit Dragon's Dogma has one true ending but other possibilities can happen if you make the wrong decisions giving you the other endings the game does save at this point though as you can go back and experience the true in if you like but here's all the options during the final battle quest the dragon brings a bargain to the Arisen a choice defeat him and face the coming end or sacrifice their beloved to stop the dragon's destruction and become The Sovereign of Gres you is to offer up that which you hold most dear Abandon All delusions of control if you sacrifice your beloved the Arisen can avoid conflict with the dragon leading to peace across the land and granting the Arisen wealth power and the title of the new Duke accepting that bargain results in the arisen's Ascension to power sure but at a significant personal cost you can see the Arisen sitting alone on their throne in the Duke robes highlighting the isolation and moral compromise that comes with the new status and the decision made with the dragon this reveals the cycle of power as the current Duke Edmond had similarly risen to power hinting at recurring fate of the Arisen if you make this Choice when you take up the position of Duke the current one his immortality and position Falls aging rapidly in a matter of moments and he's super angry at your character if the Arisen rejects the dragon's offer and takes him up in battle and defeats him chaos ensues everfall opens up beneath Grand s War leading to societal collapse in a shift toward a darker World he'd be well Arisen in my death you've won a future for this world but what that future spells for you for all men is a truth you'll find staring back from this world's utmost death down here the Arisen meets a being called the senal a Godlike character overseeing the world who offers a choice as well take on the mantle of the Sena or live a normal life the Sena is a former Arisen who oversees the world the Cal's life Fades over time and a replacement is going to be needed the dragon's job was to go out scour the world and find an Arisen replacement for this cesa you kill the dragon now you're encountering this character the cell offers them an ultimatum continue the fight which promises further challenges or turn back now and accept a merciful death choosing peace involves walking away from this conflict a scene where the Arisen stripped of their pawn and abilities everything finds himself back on the beach at cassardis in a simple Fisherman's Garb life would then continue as their Adventure had never happened they had no more Powers they were Arisen no more as well so be it go and seek your peace your guttering beacon in the churning dark and I shall await the coming of the [Music] next instead of walking away the other option is to fight the senha if your character dies during this battle they are transformed into a new Dragon falling into a pit similar to Gregory continuing that cycle their job as the dragon would be to find the next Ara isn't you then have the cycle breaking ending the great Hereafter which is believed to be the main ending and possible continuation into the next game if you confront the senal and defeat it the Arisen is given the God's Bane a sword or tool able to end the Cal's life for good when this happens the sena's power transfers to the Arisen who becomes the new cesal and has the option to visit the world in ethereal form and oversee as their predecessor once instead Arisen forgive me all I've done is to test your will it is the fate of all Arisen you and I swept up in the current same as the rest each tempers the bition of the next until that day may you guide the world ever justly I ask that you as the world's new s use it now to vouch safe freedom to your weary servant Mourn Me Not for I welcome the release at long last I am free of Eternity of infinity free of the cruel unending ring all the [Music] your Arisen can also use this God's Bane to end their own life after this doing this will give you that true ending breaking the cycle returning the Arisen and their Pawn to cardis with the pawn and the arisen's body and the fate of the world left as a mystery at this moment you experience a nice little throwback and connection to this cycle the ca you're taking on now is the one you played in The prologue so that Arisen character went through the same cycle you are ascending to the rank of cesal the Dragon going out finding someone else which happened to be you at the start you make an Arisen character who is super weak and gets their heart ripped out by the dragon Gregory the Dragon Under the cesal is sent out into the world to find the next Arison to be the replacement to continue that cycle throughout the game your weak character whose heart is ripped out can communicate with the dragon through your chest and hones your skills powers and abilities getting up to that final confrontation with the dragon itself where different choices are presented to you I Tred to make this little diagram here in Photoshop with the different endings and the different choices maybe off a little bit but I think I got most of the information in here encounter the dragon you can sacrifice your beloved and become the new Duke gaining all that power and immortality or you can defeat the dragon falling into everfall and encountering the senal the overseer of the world from there the choice to return to artist and live a normal life like nothing ever happened or take up the mantle of the overseer itself dying in battle turns you into the dragon and succeeding turns you into the new cesal where you can visit the world in your ethereal form or use the God's Bane to end your own life thus breaking the cycle and preparing the world for Dragon's Dogma 2 the second game apparently takes place in the
