Rise of Skywalker Disappointed me, so I Reworked the Whole Star Wars Sequel Trilogy

[Music] hey this is gonna be a long one so I screw intros if you want to skip straight to the rewrite go to this time but first I want to explain the challenge I'm doing myself here because I'm not simply reworking the trilogy that wouldn't exactly be impressive considering like oh boy look how much better I am despite being The Seagull writer instead of like - oh wait that's the problem [Music] you [Music] my goal in this rewrite is actually to maintain the subversive elements of the last Jedi without pissing off a large chunk of people a lot of people have talked about subverting expectations and it's really interesting how we've watched this trend emerge over the past decade as plot twists begin to stand out as one of the most obvious ways to engage an audience but somewhere along the line when people start exclusively aiming for plot twists we lost something along that way if you don't know how I work I believe a good piece of media is a combination of engagements exploration character investment spectacle mystery wordplay like comedy or in one-liners change like in plot twist and character development empathy as in like anything that makes you cry or anything that makes you angry the list goes on put simply my theory on why the plot twists in the last year I piss off a large group of people is that the plot twists are good in change they are a plot twist they are unexpected but they drop other engagements which are important in making a plot twist unanimously love Rey being nobody is unexpected but it's terrible for spectacle slash mystery Luke being a hermit is unexpected but it hurts his character investment Snoke dying is unexpected but it's terrible for again spectacle and mystery row saving Finn is unexpected but the choice is a stupid decision and makes us seem annoying thereby hurting her investment this is why there's such a divide between viewers of the last Jedi people who really love change and surprise in their stories and more importantly care about character investment and spectacle less like it but those who are the opposite have of course the opposite reaction this is why I actually like the last Jedi because I get less attached to characters but I love to be thrown for a loop in fact I've had a record of that ever since 2016 this is like the easiest way to get to my heart by the way just take every character everyone's ever loved and just start [ __ ] with them I love this [ __ ] and by the way when I talk about spectacle I don't mean set pieces and pre delights that's a different engagement called sense pleasure what I define as spectacle is in the extreme if you're looking for an example of subversion with spectacle look no further than infinity war it's a comparison many others have already made and for good reason you don't expect us to win that part is subversion but the spectacle is him winning has insane ramifications on everything the effective Thanos very much establishes the extreme in fact it has vastly more spectacle than the Avengers winning and if you want to go the extra mile him winning is great for his character investment - is it really hammers in just how seriously he believes he was doing the right thing it's a great example infinity war doesn't hurt other engagements to get its twist the lost Jedi does and that's why it's decisive decisive decisive as for Game of Thrones no one likes it because this is more complicated fun fact this video was originally going to be a rewrite on that but [ __ ] me that was so hard because you have so many characters with so many inclusions to somehow reach and they all have to intertwine it all have to subvert it be satisfying it oh my god basically after I saw the rise of Skywalker Star Wars became my training ground for the gargantuan challenge with his Game of Thrones so there anyway with that established I'm now going to test this theory by reworking the trilogy and seeing what you think my goal is fairly simple I have to kill Snoke I have to have a reason to Rob Finn sacrifice Luke has to throw away that lightsaber and be a hermit and the thing I want to send a most on Rey has to be nobody I have to keep all of these things the same but I need to find ways to add back in the engagements that were removed in the process of making these subversions for things like Luke I have to keep him subversive without making him less likeable and with Rey I wanted to be no one but I want to somehow make that more extreme so I can add back in the spectacle that would have naturally come with a like a your father is this important person kind of plot twist in a sense I guess I have to somehow make her less than no one dramatically less so we'll see how that goes anyway I'm gonna be doing a couple of general problem fixes at the same time because I couldn't help myself namely I'll be making Rey's strength and the first orders weird ability to bounce back a point of mystery rather than a point of confusion and I'll be turning ray into a more proactive character with opinions and her own goals cuz I always felt like she was kind of bland and I'll doing the same for Finn because if there was anything of the force awakens' it was a truce obverse and spectacle plot twist it was the main character being a turn stormtrooper and for some reason that had nothing to do with who he was and what he did past the first half of the first movie in fact I suppose he didn't really have anything to do with anything past the first movie huh well I'm fixing that too I'll be giving Finn a choral summing up I wanna make Finn and Rey really distinctive his characters rather than just the good guys but I mean this one technically true rate was really close to this in the last year okay I'm getting sidetracked let's begin firstly the opening scene with kylo Poe and Finn remains the same first change happens with Rey while she's exploring the ruins Star Destroyer we're gonna start to see her use some light force powers I know I know despite all the complaints of MarySue I'm gonna lean to that and make it more powerful but hopefully by establishing her off the bat as a force user I can use it as a point of mystery and make it less weird when she picks up advanced techniques in the first movie anyway we see how jumping over gaps pushing and pulling things to move through the Star Destroyer and we'll be given some narration from Rey something to the tune of ever since I could remember I've always felt different I never knew where it came from but it made me strong but I don't think that made my life easier my life was easier inside the walls of the city before I ever felt any different well flashback to Rey as a child a nice comfy upper-class home as she watches the backs of two people in the kitchen presumably her parents as their faces are obscured but ever since that day we flash back to Rey being held back by a guy as Rey's parents they're persons even more if Seward now stand in the cargo hold of a ship as the doors close and the ship takes off we go back to watching her explore the Star Destroyer ever since that day I thought true power isn't being able to jump high or pull things towards you true power is who you are your heritage and if you don't have that flash once more to someone official-looking throwing child rey outside of the city walls calling her a freak if you don't have that you're nothing so in this version jakku has a richer city center with rey seemingly being banished to the outskirts outside the wall after her parents left but the plot still continues mostly as normal with some small changes for instance when she trades the scraps for portions she gets two quarter portions and then pushes one of them back asking for information about big families who lived or once lived in the city in exchange he gives her a couple of family names and strains her along on her Lichtman but cuts short of anything that could link it to Rey she sweetly smiles and gets a bit closer and says oh come on please just a bit more and he's like flapping his alien jails like Faust type girl your child's dog walker Berry also since this is where it happens in the movie I should have mentioned fin and Poe's escape happens as normal later like in the movie she rescues bb-8 without any fuss from Tito why this need to be a name character that's just Tito don't worry we're never going to see you again anyway bb-8 says it's trying to find its master but when Rey asked where the droid is or where it's from it says it's classified when she asks what it's here for it just says it's classified this piques our interest this could be important to her it's a long shot but well the chances it has something to do with her family maybe her parents are trying to contact her but she has no identification and doesn't remember her last name to declassify the info she Prussia's bb-8 but each time he plays a locking noise as a sound to say no and eventually she gives up but she still takes him with her when the drunk trader offers a ton for him she looks at bb-8 and how sad he is and says it's got something i need it's not for sale with a grant a genuine smile of endearment bb-8 plays happy beeps back at her but then Ray's smile turns to surprise like she's just thought of something and then a slight touch of cynicism hard cut to her placing the droid on the bench with it offended Lee beeping at her before she walks away with the tokens but before she gets too far bb-8 plays an unlocked sound she turns back like she expected this and it plays a hologram of the back of a Jedi lightsaber ignited rey flashes back to the obscure face of her parents in the transport ship thinking they might be the same despite how little she can see she forced pulls the droid into her arms the junk trader yells at her before giving a [ __ ] face full of tokens force pushed into the face she says a Jedi oh of course a Jedi that would make so much sense and it looked like him I think she lost to herself nervously as she hugs bb-8 while running no it has to be I had the I think for two reasons one you already know the Jedi is probably Luke so I want to make this one look like a red herring to keep the mystery up and and to I want to make sure ray looks for neural and naive when it comes to her family I need her to look like she's willing to stretch the logic even if it means she can believe she's someone she's like here's the deal little guy I'll find you your master but when we do I get to come with when Finn crosses paths with her and he tells her it's a map to Luke Skywalker she's like no [ __ ] way the Z Luke Skywalker because in this version it has the context of rethinking Lucas her dad when they immediately start getting chased by stormtroopers she's still grinning like a little kid and Finn's like you're where the [ __ ] your priorities sad no in this version people haven't weirdly forgotten Luke of the Jedi another rebellion heroes because it was confusing and unnecessary and I don't feel like retconning a mystery around that also a little random edit when Rey says stop taking my hand the second time Finn will say alright I'll stop taking her hand and immediately let go just a slight random tippet there who knows what that's for what continues is normal why did I they got the Falcon escape TIE fighters she can still pilot stuff really well kylo Ren getting informed on everything everything is still unaffected yadda yadda when the Falcon fails and they need to know the resistance base chords races bb-8 promised to give them and bb-8 looks guilty at finn because he thinks he's resistance but finn explains he's not when bb-8 asks Finn to say the chords and so bb-8 gives up the chords himself no unimportant change this was just new context changing some dialogue especially since in this version ray doesn't actually want to go back to jakku to wait for her parents to come back and she thinks she's actively chasing them so Han Solo takes back the ship they team up but but the Bounty Hunter trader guys I don't know the guys who have beef with him and like Han and they show up and search for the fugitives and bb-8 and rey and finn those guys the rafters get released but rather than rey using airlocks to save him she reaches out her hand in a moment of anger and fear and and violently dismembers the tentacles with a force this should have a dark atmosphere that hints at something more ominous with Rey but then one leftover bounty hunter with a mask obscuring his face corners her while she's still in shock at the strength of her force powers and points his blaster at a face he stares into her eyes for a couple of seconds but after a moment he says this isn't worth it I'm going home and walks off everyone's kinda like well I was weird and the story continues Hostel offers her a job because she saves the Falcon they see Maz Kanata and finn decide still decides to run away and confesses to rey that he's from the first order Rey's connection with the force again draws her to the lightsaber as before she gets visions gets spooked and in a moment of weakness says this was a mistake and she needs to go back to jakku and wait cañada says they're never coming back and she needs to look forward like she does in the movie and this is just some minor dialogue changes because in the original it's like always being her plan to go back home and wait rather than follow the Luke Skywalker goose chase I'm trying to keep the original story beats and dialogue as intact as possible main difference in this version though if she listens to Mars and tries to go grab the saber one more time but this time it's the pair in the ship just before the door closes her parents their face is blacked out while time is frozen forever under her but no matter how close she gets her parents faces are still in darkness she says why can't I see who you are up close to her father's face the frozen person suddenly turns his head to her and with a violent disordered voice says this is the thing that truly spooks her she says this was a mistake I need to go back home and wait as in the original and she runs off to the forest in a panic like you know the original I decided to add original by myself it's not on the script as it turns out I already wrote it it's there now I've said it twice I'm not redoing this take first order fire the deathless star laser plus ultra and the first order begins to attack Finn is worried and comes back Maz Kanata gives lives after Finn so okay here's where the changes with Finn come in during the battle Finn sneaks up on a stormtrooper and brings a lightsaber down it turns around to get out of the way but it's blast to get sliced in half and Finn kicks it onto its back he raises his lightsaber above his head and looks at the storm trooper with frosty that quickly fades into a softer more sorrowful surprise another stormtrooper sees this shouts and pulls the stun baton and Finn says everything was so hectic I can't believe I forgot you're just like I was no evil just was brainwashed the stormtrooper starts marching towards him and he reluctantly pulls up his saber and begins to fight but he doesn't want to kill and he seems to lose at least in part from holding back desperately trying to convince him not to fight when Solo and Chewie kill the stormtrooper he slowly gets up looks over and takes a moment to apologize now knowing that in the heat of battle he can't save anyone this is the point in Finn's journey where he chooses to fight for the Republic when the resistance arrived and Leia and Finn talk he says he wants to save Rey but also says that he wants to join the resistance and game ranked when pressed on why he says the troopers were brainwashed and when the first order is destroyed someone needs to stick up for the stormtrooper survivors in court give them rehabilitated rather than thrown in prison I think this could be a much more interesting driving force for Finn to build his way up in the resistance so that he could change the fate of the enemy that he alone humanizes as he was once a part of it back to Rey Carla finds her in a forest much the same deal as before but in this version she has the force but when she raises her hand to use it and defend herself she gets horror flashbacks implying that she's been spooked enough that she can't connect to the force right now think how it reaches into her mind knows that she's seen the map and takes her back to the Star Destroyer just as in the original soul Aran Hound scenes are unchanged I know there's a bit of fan outcry a similar reaction to Luke in the last Jedi a lot of people say that Leia and Han being broken up ruins their happy ending but with it being so integral to kylo and the plot I opted not to try and fix this especially with Hans death coming up this was a very systematic problem with the sequel trilogy totally developed characters like those that have come from the end of the og trilogy are logically gonna have to hog the spotlight if you integrate them too much which is why fanservice usually comes in small references or cameos in the force awakens nostalgia was intertwined with the conflict in Ben solo so there was only really one way to stop the series just being all about the old trilogies group who's stronger and have more implements on the plot and that was to kill them anyway back on the Star Destroyer kylo reaches into a mind like normal han Solo father you never had disappointing you yadda yadda yadda but before you can get the map Rey starts to reconnect with the force again and Rey plays the reverse card just like before and kylo leaves to tell snook Rey then tries a mind trick for the first time it doesn't work on the strong trooper since he's too far away but when he gets close to maka as in the film she tries again and it works back with the resistance we get the exposition about Starkiller base same scene but I'm gonna add a tidbit that when they see the size of the base characters will acknowledge that they don't understand how the force or the force order first order managed to build this and spring back up so fast this is just to tell the audience hey don't worry main characters don't understand either it's a mystery next han of finland on the odd unfortunately i have to remove the gag that finn works annotation because this finn is here to say rey and earn rank in the resistance so he didn't say he could disable the shields as a bluff just to get onto the base actually wait you can just say his plan was to hold phasma if you did want to keep that Gaghan yeah I know I could have just rewrote the script and there was no reason for me to backpedal but you know what I worked hard in that sentence and it doesn't deserve to die [ __ ] you it might be nice to add a little scene between phasma and finn here while they're walking where finn tries to persuade her to change but she says actually i chose this life I wasn't taken by the first order this keeps the gag with Finn smiling and grinning to throw her in the trash compacter later intact but this should also create some mystery as to her motivations and set her up as something of an antagonist to Finn specifically next I'll be changing the reunion with Finn and Rey slightly they still hug but this time Finn asked how did you get caught instead of how did you get away because of course she has the foresight she says she doesn't know but for a while she like lost track of it she says I kept thinking about the vision I had I couldn't see my parents but after a bit I could focus again Finn stops for a second and asks why does that matter so much to you and she says why wouldn't it it's where you belong where you're raised what you're capable of Finn's is capable of races think about it how general was a princess Luke was a son to another powerful Jedi and Carla is a son to her and he says Rey my parents were a poor family on the Outer Rim so with every other stormtrooper I come from a matched set of millions but I'm still here oh my Rey is stunned for a second but thinks about it and gives a slightly reserved but genuine smile and says yeah right vulnerable but no longer believing that her father is Luke because of her vision she bonds with Finn and allows herself to reconsider her ideas a bit about identity for just a bit Hans death and his talk with kylo are unchanged and from there we move on to the fight in the forest first major difference is when kylo finds them and he takes a couple of steps towards ray before wincing and holding his head like he's got a headache he looks up at her and says oh I get it now so that's what you are Rey is completely thrown off by this but before she can reconnect with the force Kyle destroys her against the tree and knocks her out kylo and finn fight rey wakes up after finn goes down and force pulls a lightsaber but as they duel Rey as she is in the movie is on the back foot because she's gonna never held a lightsaber but when Kayla reminds her of the force she concentrates on it but instead of getting better with the lightsaber she takes one hand off the saber and into rates her forced into a duel she plays evasive ly with force jumps and dashes avoiding direct blocks and tests of strength since she's only using one hand and he uses a force powers primarily to fight she throws snow into his face with pushes she weakens trees with the sabre and brings them down on top of him with a force to throw him off and only then fishing off with the sabre once she has an opening I do this not because learning how to use the lightsaber with just the force is kind of an [ __ ] but honestly I do it because it's just kind of creative and given that she's been extremely force adept in both the original and my version I just think it resonates a lot better with her character razor force specialist if she's not gonna be trained let's have her at least rely on a single natural talent the ground then gets severed and rather than just run away as she does in the movie she becomes conflicted behind her is Finn who needs her help and over the fissure in force jump rains need I remind you in this version is kylo voices play in our mind kylo says I get it now so that's what you are and Finn says I'm a match set of millions but I'm still here aren't I she breathes in and turns away from kylo more because she's bonded with them wants to protect Finn rather than she's just given up on being someone but I just want everyone to see that it's still pulling on her and and also that's why she doesn't finish him off moving on to the scene with Leia Rey guess what not gonna change anything even though ironically this scene makes no sense seriously Chewie just walks off like a dumb [ __ ] but Rey the one who's never actually met Leia is the one to get a hug but you know what I'm gonna make this scene make sense without changing anything but in the next movie the final scene before Luke is actually one of my own Rey and Finn talk on the ship after a couple of days Finn recovers a lot faster in this movie and Rey gives the lightsaber to Finn and tells him to get training from Luke she says he rescued Finn because she cared but now that she has a real lead on who she is she can't just let it go anymore so she's gonna stay with the resistance in hopes of crossing paths with kylo again Finn doesn't want to accept it but she sells it to him as Luke was the savior of the rebels and had the most influence if he wants to help the stormtroopers he should become a Jedi and he agrees you can even glue gag here whereas Rey is walking away Finn says but what about your training and she puts up a hand and force pulls his jacket over his head to coyly say don't worry I think I'll be fine Finn says and cocky isn't like overconfidence meant to be against get a Jedi code in some way and she says cocky don't worry and with a touch of melancholy she says I never put too much stock in these powers anyway the last scene is with Finn handing Luke a lightsaber okay next movie so here's where the changes stop multiplying so I'm gonna stop talking in broader terms and only going into details for certain scenes so lost Jedi takes place across one long space fight but I'm splitting into two we'll start by having one at the beginning as a resistance a caught off guard by the first-order popping up again they'll escape and near the end of the movie the first order will ambush them again and as we move into the conclusion that's gonna be much the same as the original there won't be any Lightspeed track at this time the purpose of the first ambush is to one drive mystery for the first orders origins and to give Chewie and Poe a scene because quite frankly I'm not gonna utilize them much basically Chewie is just lost Han and the Millennium Falcon needs a pilot again rather than have Rey slash Finn take it with Chewie to Luke I think it would be better to have Leia recommend Poe to replace Han and while they have a rocky stop I want them to find common ground in this first fight and maybe have some triumphant moments together much like Poe and Finn had in the first movie have them first have trouble understanding each other but by a combination of charades banter and equally risky flying they get in sync with each other and form a connection next same as before Kyle gets reprimanded by Snoke and smashes the mosque in this first battle kylo tries to kill Leia but decides against it at the last minute before the TIE fighters kill her anyway and that's actually kill her this time I don't actually have a problem with the MARY POPPINS thing but I need her to not be too force sensitive for some plot twist later on I mean I suppose she can just be rescued in another way but apparently people think this would be a fine info later I don't get how that works but I'm just gonna roll with it and I guess I can test it apparently regardless she can stick around by a like nan force-sensitive ass ball if you want but I won't be like using her in any further developments afterwards you see Kyle are looking at Darth Vader's mask in despair and sadness he reaches back pulls over his hood and he has a hood and cloak in this movie and and turns his back on Darth Vader Chu he finds out Leia died and locks himself in the Millennium Falcon pode the only one with the key now comes in with a sponge in a bucket and starts cleaning because let's it's [ __ ] filthy Chuy's confused but po still not able to understand him says that he didn't know lay like Chewie did and can't share his grief but he knows that the Millennium Falcon was special to Han and ha was special to Leia after a lone pause he says I've lost a lot of friends in the resistance and once they're gone there's nothing you can do so you just do what you can after a moment she gets up and joins him this was the scene I added to the script at 3:40 a.m. it's weird and abstract but right now it seemed kind cute so I'm rolling with it next Finn reaches the planet Luke is on he climbs the mountain but runs into a temple with the books and stuff it's here he runs into Rose Tico or at least Rose Tico's replacement character with the same name because the original Rose Tico is from a plot line that doesn't exist anymore this Rose Tico is one of the caretakers alien-esque but mostly human with some elements of being combined with technology she's kind of like a bio archive a human who loved the Jedi but couldn't connect to the forces and so will fully dedicated amount of her brain space to be used like a hadron she'll say that Luke brought her to the island to use as a personal library and archive the ancient Jedi texts but of course they're not done with that last part yet Finn flips through the pages of the book she's yet to archive and says a small talk so what kind of other things do you have in your archive before accidentally ripping one of the pages she says Oh many things including 3861 methods of assassination 240 styles of martial arts and 5001 forms of torture sins like you threatening me and she's like aggression is against the Jedi Code but my code is to protect it please put the book down Finn asked where Luke is and we get a scene from the force awakens but when he hands over the lightsaber we switched to Finn's first-person perspective and Luke's through his the lightsaber behind him and walks off we switch out of Finn's purse person perspective as we see Finn confused and walk after him but as the camera pans down we see that the lightsaber is on the ground as if it was just dropped at the feet so solution part ones making helmet Luke work at mystery audience can fall depending on his character until they know wherever the hell we were clearly hiding from him Finn and Luke then fight Finn says that the resistance needs to look at Luke says I would if I could Finn is confused and says why not but Luke just gives him silence Finn then asked him to teach him instead but Luke says he's not a teacher Yoda taught me how to be a Jedi he didn't teach me how a trained one Finn says you're talking about Ben aren't you I failed to turn him from the dark side your Luke Skywalker you brought back darh vader playing turn darth vader in the first place but that was Snoke Snoke was just the spark I allowed it to take hold I won't teach you I won't make this problem any worse than it already is then then I'll teach myself what I saw the books on the way up here this whole island is a safe haven for knowledge about the Jedi so I'll teach myself he says don't you dare these books are exactly what I tried to use to teach Ben I will not create any more Sith that's exactly why I'm here to make sure naive fools like you don't try to translate that nonsense he unten says for a second and says at least while I try to think of I just need to find a better way then says there's no time the first order keeps coming back stronger each time and we don't know how but Luke stow refuses him and so Finn storms off Luke eyes him suspiciously then we get the Yoda Luke seen from the last Jedi but slight change Luke holds a little bit of force lightning in his hand instead of a weird torch thing then Yoda appears and Luke says he'll burn down the sacred texts but not before berating Yoda for being sporadic and unreliable with his appearance making it impossible for him to learn teaching from him hey I'm not immune to patas either gotta walk around that [ __ ] just when Luke holds back seemingly reconsidering Yoda lightnings it just as before and tells Luke that books are not part of learning failure is so basically the same as before but with the new context of reforming the Jedi through practice and failure rather than books in the original Yoda just said ray knows everything in the books already which is a little weird I generally really like the scene though it's very Yoda and it's another subversive element that for once in this movie comes without the spectacle drop so I've elected to keep it but also to put it much earlier in the film so Luke is a grunt for less Luke agrees to Train Finn he's totally false adept [Music] and it looks bleak but partway through he discovers that Finn has no real hate for the stormtroopers and when pressed on it Luke finds out that the more Finn learns about kylo the less he hates him the more he thinks about it if a stormtrooper can be manipulated so can others on the dark side this gives Luke hope that finn can become a true a jet either most a jedi not vulnerable to hate but it also gives him hope that finn might be able to turn Ben back he understands the Jedi way but he's also not the object of Ben's hate like Lucas back on the resistance fleet kylo and Rey begin to make connections just like in the last Jedi kylo and Rey make contact once in confusion but the second time ray asks who she is kylo says he will tell her if she does him a favor she protests but he says it's personal and won't affect the war but her anger boils over you murdered han why did you do it how could I possibly trust you he says he doesn't know implying that's the answer to both questions with a hint of remorse we can buy this remorse Rey after a moment of consideration says at least in curiosity what do you need from this point raised in her own little mission you can maybe pull some classic Star Wars adventuring from this but because raised alone will mostly be flashing back to her just so we can have the occasional talk between her and kylo as she moves throughout the galaxy well mainly beginning our classic Star Wars style action from the spend like spectacle from Finn's group in the reloj scenes as ray makes his journey they'll discuss more or less the same things as they did in the last Jedi with the addition that Snoke told kylo to kill Luke and he thought he succeeded but he doesn't really know how he survived Rey will ask why he hated Han and just as in the last Jedi Ben will say he didn't and when she says she doesn't understand he'll tell ray that of course she doesn't her parents threw her away like garbage she'll deny it and Ben will say again it's her greatest weakness that she never stops needing her parents and sees them in everyone but this time ray presses him don't dogs the question why did you turn they loved you kylo pauses for a long time and considers it and then says because Snoke gave me a choice we returned to fit again who is now adept with a lightsaber also for those gang aunty Carlo and raised connections start a fair while like a month or two after Finn starts training he has basically eyes Tama trained now and he's still forced inept but Luke thinks finn just needs right trigger to awaken the force and sends him on a journey as the first time he truly awoke the force was in a tense situation so he sends him with the bio archive to Han and Leia's family home which was since taken by the first order hopefully he'll learn more about Ben in the process we can have a moment here where Finn worries about not being able to learn the force and when the bio archive calls him a Jedi he says I'm not a Jedi but she says well statistically you have every characteristic of a Jedi in my archive but like one so you're a Jedi to me Finn smiles and says rose you didn't archive everything and she's like if I say I Alec I'd everything I [ __ ] archived everything it's played for a joke but she's holding back tears cuz she didn't get to archive all the Jedi texts before they but I want rose to really start to value Finn over the course of the movie this should stem from him following the Jedi way and Rose being fascinated and protective of the Jedi will develop feelings in a sense of duty because she believes Finn as a Jedi will be immensely important into the resistance by the way if you want to add some classic Star Wars space shenanigans to pad out the movie this is the place to do it it's also advisable that you haven't crossed paths with poe and Chu and have them like so you have like a decent little adventuring party this is very flexible on how you can do it so I won't go into it back to Rey her Jane leads to drama please Han and Leia's old house same places Finn and Rosa going I find coincidental writing is actually quite okay so long as it's creating situations or problems not solving them if it's a solving them then it can feel like what many will describe as convenient so she sneaks past the first order to get inside but when she reaches the basement she finds in the storage chest Darth Vader his cloak and lightsaber kylo talks through their connection again and they talk about things for a bit kylo speaks I didn't want to be a Jedi I wanted to leave with my family and the peace they created isn't that what they did it for for us my mother wanted me to follow my heritage so early on that was pushed on to me I think I took it to heart even though I didn't want to when Snoke told me my other heritage laid here that Darth Vader was my grandfather he didn't tell me to become like Vader instead Snoke just let me decide on my own before I knew it I idolized him but that was his goal all along I thought I found the identity I wanted here but I could never be my grandfather and I could never be a Jedi the music swells and ray asks then what do you want to be and Kyla looks at her face and says you're crying you know already don't you through tears ray says what do you want to do and Kyla replies I want you to burn this house to the ground she pulls fuel across the home and stands in the entrance with a lit match ray she turns and sees Finn and the others immediately she panics and throws it down saying the home ablaze Finn panics right what are you doing here we need that she tries to put the hood up and run but Finn catches her and pulls her down grabbing hold of a hand ray turns around and shouts let go of me and Finn does it straight away saying alright I like all of you Ray looks into his eyes and his immediately confused by how quickly he let go and got off of her but there's no time to think as the fire and shouting have drawn strong troopers that completely surrounded and captured they're taken right to Snoke ship and poe gets a message from the resistance that they're under attack the second battle has begun Finn and the others look to escape Snoke ship of course but when they find a way out Rey sees kylo Ren and chooses to go with him instead this would be a good place to place a catch up with phasma by the way I'm gonna be honest I don't really have an arc for phasma but if you're gonna put it somewhere here you wait wait literally is I'm scripting us ok phasma can duel to prevent them from escaping in this fight you will learn that phasma doesn't care about who is right or who's wrong she believes that the strongest will decide everyone's fate regardless of morality and the only way to live with any sense of pride is to bet your life on the strongest and remain loyal to them and she bet on the first order Finn brings up that she took down the shields in the force awakens at gunpoint so she mustn't really believe this and phasma enraged tries to argue that that she's important to the first order and besides that she was counting on guards being posted there to shoot them it seems like this could plausibly be an excuse in the end phasma will technically beat Finn but in reality he's stalled for time as the alphas got the escape ready but as the doors close on the ship that they're about to fly off with he then confesses that that's an excuse he took the opportunity of stole because he wanted a chance to understand phasma Bella phasma upon learning this enraged eclairs Finn is not better than her and that he wouldn't have won even if he did try and with a tiny edge of smug but mostly kindness Finn says that's okay and the doors close at this point Finn Poe and Chewie return to the resistance and they'll join in with the original climax of the film as they use the transporters to desperately escape to create out to being caught off guard completely by the first Lords ability to string spring back I guess Admiral Ackbar can do the Lightspeed RAM to save them from getting shot by the trick in the transporters cuz I heard that idea from PewDiePie and I kind of liked it no I don't think the lights being Ram is pothole my feelings on plot holes in general is kind of complicated subscribe if you want to hear me talk more about that I guess eventually meanwhile kylo and Ray have the same scene in the left where Ray offers to help him change sides and Kyla betrays smoke in the same way yeah Snoke dies like a dumbass still don't worry it's a fake out which should be pretty obvious since we've still got mysteries with the first order finally we get to the scene where kylo asked ray to join him but it actually goes like this ray wants them to stop firing on the ship kylo says to let all things die Snoke Skywalker thus if the rebels yada-yada we can rule together races not to do this callouses you're still holding on let's go and do you want to know the truth about your parents or have you always known hidden it away yeah yeah ray as before finally amidst they were nobody and kylo continues to say they were filthy drunk traitors and tells us she has no place in this story she comes from nothing she's nothing but not to me ray takes a step forward but holds back and he goes again do you want to know what I saw in you the night we dueled I didn't see nobody I saw something worse than that normally so lately powerful in the force I felt you trying to influence my mind even though you weren't consciously trying to raise in disbelief people like you have a name rumored but never documented you're what's known as a force plate and you subconsciously bend the will of everyone around you ray starts a shake ahead and deny it but then tells her to look deep inside herself you know it's true she flashes back to the two times Finn immediately let go of her hand to the bounty hunter who said it wasn't worth it and was going home to the junk trader who says for the last time gold your charms don't work no no no no no ray says Kyllo steps forward and says haven't you ever felt like any parental figure you latched on to seem to care about you despite never meeting you she flashes back to Han and then to Leia hugging her as Chewie walks away she grabs her head her eyes wide as a whole body starts to shake and then finally she flashes back she's a little girl just seeing her parents leave her eyes gloss over and suddenly without even looking at him the man holding her arm let's go as if his mind went blank her force powers have been awakened a broken girl drowsily she walks the city past the guards who let her past like nothing's wrong she sees the backs of a rich and happy couple walking through the streets and slowly shambles up to them they stop and turn a look of disgust on their face as they look upon this glassy eyed street urchin staring down at the ground and suddenly their expression turns to love as they pick her up and hold her close the dirt on her clothes smearing all over their fine linen and they take her back to their comfy home you see it now don't you says kylo who knows how much you've influenced your friends you're a monster you can't go back now but so am i and I can't go back either there's no turning back now only forward will or raise our past kill the resistance and then we'll rule together not like Snoke or the Emperor will be good we'll make a new light side order one that doesn't require you to be someone or push someone's Atta someone else Rey is just silent but she looks up at this slightly receptive but not on board and after a moment kylo continues I had something made for you he reaches into his cloak and starts walking towards her for me I was someone but I was someone else's someone else's expectations someone's pride so much choices someone's mistakes now I'd rather just be no one but you need that time and I had as well back then the dark side gave me choice over who I was maybe it can't be you too he pulls out a newly made kylo Ren mosque and holds it out for her she stares and offer a moment almost instinctively she reaches out and grabs the helmet but - stop holding it closed after a moment she places it on and the tears streaming out from a helmet and down her neck slow and stop from here ray will join the dark side assuming the identity of kylo Ren she'll be sent out around the back of the bunker to try and cut off any resistance you try to escape the laser will still charge up to tear through the base and Finn and Rose will still get in Sault surfers Finn will say to Rose do you notify this and she says oh oh yeah I know everything about flying this before putting too much throttle into it immediately knocking over a bunch of storage crates I've just never done it before she says steep ously when finn tries to sacrifice himself Rose will save him with the exact same lines and the kiss but now it comes with a double meaning rosette Finn because she loves him but now the line we win by protecting what we love is a legitimate argument the Jedi obsessed bio archive knows the importance of Finn because Finn is the only Jedi in the resistance and not just that Finn will say that he's not that important he can't kill he can't use the force he can't win a duel and he can't protect those he loves either I'm not a Jedi intensely ro stares into his eyes her hands tightly on his cheeks and says no you're the last Jedi at this point Rose will form Finn on the last mystery of this movie but you won't see it but this is why Finn knows Lucas stalling for time and that they have to all escape while they can when Luke arrives on the scene to face kylo it's still the same ending with kylo finding out that Luke is a projection but not just any projection he says he's sorry that he failed him but he's made things right again and he's glad he could train Finn and buy them time and now he can finally let go he breathes in and out and slowly a familiar blue aura forms around Luke Luke says that Kyle really did kill him all the way back when he just didn't want lair to know her son killed her brother so he held on to life found an assistant to spread the rumors and hid away on the Jedi Temple on the outer rim all while trying to find a way to turn Ben back and he thinks he finally did it now all he has to do is put trust into the next generation quoting Yoda we are what they grow beyond the resistance finds a way to get through the back but run straight into Kyle array with Rey in Kyler's clothing kylo ray tries to slaughter them brandishing the state of its purple and assume Dilys smokes but every resistance fighter seems to dodge perfectly a glazed look in their eye as Ray gets angrier and angrier the her subconscious won't let her kill them they all get into the old transport ships that are waiting behind her as Finn deals with her seemingly still being controlled by her subconscious - and in a lightsaber lock just as the ship is taking off they stare into each other's eyes and color comes back into fins as the force finally awakens within him he says ray Finn force pushes her back and she falls over the transport is about to leave and he has to go before the first order catches up but as he gets on the ship Kyle are a force pulls the lightsaber off his belt saying in kylo ren's mask voice you can't leave yet seemingly through tears and they do the same lightsaber tug-of-war that happens in the last Jedi and it breaks as a smoke clears Finn looks down at the ground getting further away curious and confused he solemnly watches the person dresses kylo Ren kneeling in the salt her head in her hands totally defeated and that is the last joke the rise of Skywalker is really just the conclusion to a lot of these threads and the complete erasure of the actual rise of Skywalker so I can't actually give you a full synopsis because I can't rely on the existing movie as a foundation if I tried I'd be here all day so instead this is gonna be much broader much like Return of the Jedi it will open on a demonstration of what Finn can do now with a fancy new lightsaber probably yellow and like completed training the resistance will have gone into hiding and as it can't beat the constant regenerating first order and Finn will probably be on the plant that contains a clue towards the mystery through the first action scene he'll demonstrate the emotional maturity of a Jedi Master but the lightsaber prowess of something more like a Jedi Knight he'll be rough around the edges with the lightsaber and perfected throughout the movie this is because he's been trained by rose and has been taught mostly through theory and improvisation as there's no true Jedi to help him complete his training additionally it's worth knowing that Rose is now the general of the resistance due to her fast knowledge and tactics of [ __ ] information yet you know just when you think he's won the battle and they have access to the information they need phasma will appear just to blow it up but her uniform is different less impressive more ragged you learn she's been demoted for her failure and went AWOL to start tracking Finn just to duel him again seemingly harboring resentment but also a newfound begrudging respect for him this time she loses outright she asked Finn why he said it's okay that he couldn't beat her before and he says that he's different to her in that he doesn't believe power and pride are that important he tells her that strength is a natural progression of morality and it's only a matter of time until the resistance win she starts to believe this for Finn at least but when Finn asserted join him she says she can't because she'd be doing it just to join the winning side Finn says he doesn't believe this and puts his lightsaber in her hands pointing it towards himself much to Poe and Chewie and roses dismay who are assumedly there he tells her that she can end the Jedi right here and there by completing the first orders of only objective and winning the war but he knows she won't do it because she doesn't believe in being on the winning side anymore she turns Eliza go on and murders Finn [Music] aha you thought I was a humble fanfic writer but it was me Riaan Johnson the whole time now obviously she joins Finn and her knowledge as commanding officer gives him a new lead okay meanwhile Kyle andreas and moments together when around others ray assumes the identity of kylo Ren and the real kylo is her second-in-command with a simple blank mask hood and voice changer that was the end of the sentence when they're alone they take off the moss they tended to one another even though Rey failed to kill Finn Rey has had time to prepare and has started to become more dependent on Ben for advice she thinks she's finally ready to kill the resistance but suddenly they're attacked by another first order phasma we come back to thinks that the stormtroopers are actually clones because she didn't take part in nor know of any record in which the raids took place Poe notes that they've never seen the plants these children come from either also just for the record Finn was ripped from his parents before he could remember he was told that they were junk traders and that somehow he was saved by the first order from a life without glory anyway this takes them to Kamino which has been shut down since the Clone Wars but in going there they find something of a creepy abandoned laboratory with imperfect clone troopers who think they're separatists attacking the Republic and even malformed Kamino is wandering the halls dangerous and not quite there seeing things that aren't real insert arbitrary Star Wars right here kylo and Rey need to board the enemy's first-order flagship because they need to find out you know what the [ __ ] going on I'd like to actually get some genuine Star Wars style action scenes from this I want ready to be in a much better place emotionally now that she's she can like pretend to be kylo Ren they can banter with each other and crack jokes get stuck in garbage compact you know that sort of thing I want to humanize them and have them you know have some goddamn fun for once to help this you can have them take off the mask once the stormtroopers in their boarding party die off after all everyone who sees them past that point is gonna die anyway deep underground in Kamino they find a chamber at the same time kylo Ren get into the flagship like [ __ ] main lobby place whatever at the same time they both see who else but Snoke so I came up with a backstory - Snoke which I think would walk really well as for they like the emperor of this trilogy since they're here now Snoke will explain Snoke is the Kamino who invented their cloning technology after generations of him perfectly cloning himself over and over which is why he grew a nose he lived for over thousands of years and much like he perfected cloning through living forever he in turn now believes he will make the perfect galaxy ruler by the same logic ironically he believes that only by failure and experience can you become better just like Yoda the only difference is he's willing to sacrifice anyone for any reason as part of that failure even himself this is one of the really cool things I like about my Snoke he values his ideas greater than his own well-being when he comes back and rise of Skywalker it's just another clone of himself his consciousness was not transferred Snoke puts no value in his own consciousness or well-being he puts all value on his experience and ideas he doesn't care about ruling the galaxy so much as he cares about his ideology ruling the galaxy ever since Kamino was shut down he established a new secret location and he's been stockpiling troops and stasis in them like that perishable products for Anna fridge going forward the movie will be a back and forth between Finn with the resistance kylo and Rey and finally Snoke all fighting for control all while Finn will be trying to turn kylo and Rey back kylo and Rey will be trying to wipe out the resistance and the history so they can establish a new light side power and all three of them will be trying to find Snoke secret cloning base I'd like to have Rey kylo and Finn talk through the force connection thing Raiden is now like conscious of a fast power so she can probably bridge them herself maybe utilize how it was used in rise of style Skywalker cuz that was probably one of the only clever parts of that movie I think how this be how they Trek finn down between this meeting in the force connections though it gives finn time to understand both ray and kylos unique hangups before the last confrontation Finland's about kylos desperation of a choice Ray's force plague and her need to feel like someone ultimately finna escapes and ray and Kyle get split up but not before Finn gets them to question their judgment a little and also telling them where snoke's planet is so that they can come kill him when he gets there but he's totally just doing it because he thinks he can convince them once I get there the final confrontation will take place on two fronts so Snoke planet has gigantic rings moving around it like like halo but like lots of halos circling around a plant these make aging on the plant much faster it will be the job of Chewie and Poe in the Falcon and rose and phasma in fighters to fight with a resistance to destroy slash land on interact with the Rings and Finn will head to the planet to finish off Snoke or smokes this is because Finn's a force user and the only one who can resist him when they say you can't go alone he's is that one now I'll have been Emre I think this setup gives a chance for asthma to redeem myself by working and bonding with the group and also since there's a smoke aboard the flagship as well it'll give her a chance to like really complete her arc by killing him the final fight will have Rey kylo and Finn into the cloning planets main laboratory at roughly the same time this might be a good time to bring back the Knights of Ren as Snoke second-in-command and utilize ray and kylos force connection in the movie but also for Finn to use the same connection to help them stay alive as well this will make them feel conflicted so the same thing as rise of Skywalker where ray force fedexes her lightsaber to kylo but instead Snoke is taunting Rey to distract her while carly was fighting the knights of ren but then ray doesn't have a lightsaber of her own and just when she thinks it's over finn FedEx's his to her and picks up colors which got disarmed and thrown away from kylo if you want to add in a little bit of extra plot twist kylo takes the knights of Ren's mask off and sees it's a clone of himself this unnerved him as he starts trying to kill Finn and they fight for a little bit but suddenly have to contend with the waves of Snopes coming out of stasis at first they'll meet up with ray and have to work together but when they thin out the numbers they'll fight each other Finn in self-defense of course they'll fight throughout the laboratory moving from room to room the final room will be a giant chamber and at the edge of the floor it drops and in between the wall and the platform will be a giant round tank with lights shut out that will slowly start to light up and bubble during the fight this will reveal a large shape this is where Finn will start to win against Carlo and Rey where he'll break down their masks and defenses both verbally and physically raised for power for instance gets thrown off by his comments and in one instance they'll run into a bunch of Finn clones but Finn doesn't care which in turn inspires and starts to crack the armour around Rey reminding her of what he said with ray Stein the whole back Finn is almost skilled enough to take on kylo and gain the upper hand when Rey starts to lose control over her subconscious and starts protecting Finn over the course of the fight he'll tell raid that they if they don't try to train her force powers they'll never know if they can be controlled but she's so downing herself that she's doesn't even think it's possible but in fact Finn thinks she's capable of all these amazing things and he only even mentioned that people like Anakin used to be no.1 he tells her that no she's born from a legend she's better than that she'll become a legend when fighting kylo it'll revolve around not being too late to change and that by committing to the path rather than redeeming himself he's becoming a slave to his own actions and guilt despite being free of Snoke and Luke Ben is still not choosing the path he truly wants in the last moment when then his mask has shattered and only a piece of it sticks to Ben's face then we'll get the upper hand all of a sudden after knocking away array and is about to bring the lightsaber on Finn who's fallen onto his back but as he brings the lightsaber down a fit of rage he stops rather than lock sabers Finn has retracted his and moved his wrist to the point where the saber would emerge seemingly through Ben's head I'm not gonna lie to you and say I don't want you to change for my own benefit but just because we want the same thing doesn't mean you're being manipulated kylo rejects this how the hell could I trust you that's exactly what Snoke did how the hell am I supposed to trust that kylo is cut off by Finn pressing the button the lightsaber shoots out just to the side his face but just grazing the piece of the mask left on him but my life on it Finn says as the last piece of the mask falls from Tyler's face and the face of Snoke this time giant like his hologram will wake and break free as the last resort defense mechanism of the planet a giant double-ended lightsaber to boot I'm just having fathers Pines they end up busting through the roof and fighting giant Snoke in the open air as they finally team up again but this time the lesser are about killing Finn after they duel together against Snoke as the Rings explode around them snow firenze about his ideology or something and it all goes up in flame if it simply comes kipping over obvious lines of dialogue and like character reactions it's because they're like stock standard enough at this point and I think you can join the dots once they kill Snoke together Ben and race it not sure what to do Marissa rise and Finn offers Bend the choice to run away and for the first time he smiles at Finn and says no he wants to redeem himself ray says she wants to do the same and that after she wants to become a true Jedi but Ben tells her that she didn't kill anyone but first order and besides he says nobody man the first order but Snoke and kylo Ren where it shows up a little and laughs and said but what about your second-in-command and he's as I said it was nobody smiling a little Finn says that he has a way for Ben to redeem himself to if he's interested Ben is and so he tells him that there's millions of stormtroopers on this plant that need to be unbraid washed and reintegrated into society he says if you get good it it might only take about ten years Ben says that the Republic will want to put him in prison for [ __ ] like ten times that at least to these Finn replies that's fine this plant can be your prison and since it speeds up time you'll be over a hundred once you're done he's like but the rings were destroyed and Finn replies that's funny that's what the report says right rose and that's basically it but for the last scene I'm gonna leave shipping out of the closure but for the record you could potentially pay a collar and Rey and Finn and rose or even just Finn and Rey Kyla's Redemption probably shouldn't involve sexy time anyway other characters like Poe Chewie phasma and Rose will obviously get their own closure scenes which should be fairly stock sanded but the last scene in the movie would be Rey joining Finn for her first lesson as a Jedi Finn says all right I'm your teacher now so let's go formalities and all from the top what's your name after a pause she'll smile confidently open her eyes breathe in just like she's about to say something and then credits roll I figure it's obvious what she's like about to say ray so I might as well leave it as something that the vast majority of audiences can like walk out you know it's finally done all right so remember the main goal was I wanted to see if I could rewrite the trilogy with the last Jedi subversion in text and don't piss off a bunch of people so tell me how I did as with all my idea videos feel free to use it have you want I'm not going to place you although by copyright law I suppose this just means that Disney can use it and no one else whatever my point is if you want to write fanfiction or comic or whatever as some people have asked in the past when I do this sort of thing or use like certain ideas or lines it's it's whatever it's too small for Disney to care and I certainly won't police it so they have fun okay I'm [ __ ] out it is like the middle of the summer the stroller is on [ __ ] fire right now and I have to sit in heat work I mean it's better than a house burning down but I have to sit in here with a blanket over my head with no air conditioning [ __ ] reading out this [ __ ] this is not experience I just I have been under here for like two hours I want to die I'm gonna get back to the script now uh what was i okay I am [ __ ] out oh my god oh yeah and shammy if you I love the force aberration idea, but the cloning part feels goofy and it kinda seems like he didn’t know how to wrap it up. I absolutely love the Rey storyline though.

Not really a fan of your proposition for a 3rd movie, but i really like the changes to the 1st and 2nd ones. Especially those to Rose Tico and a concept of "A Force Plague".
