hey everybody i hope you guys are all doing well today it's scott here from gearrules.com and today i'm going to be doing a quick little video on this aluminum ridge wallet with the cash strap i've had this particular wallet in my pocket for over a year now so i just wanted to share with you guys my thoughts and opinions some of the pros and cons of this wallet as well as some things that at first were a little odd but that you get used to so i hope you guys like this video and if you do please like and subscribe down below and if you have any comments or questions feel free to type them out and i'll try to get back to you as soon as possible i also wrote an in-depth article on my website gearrules.com and i'll post that down below as well uh it's a little bit more in depth in this video but covers a lot of the same content i hope you guys enjoy have a good one all right so let's get right into it like i said i've had this wallet for over a year now and it's done me pretty well a couple things i want to start off with uh aside from the wallet you get a couple things warranty wise so when you first buy it the the bridge says that they give you 45 days if you don't like the wallet you can return it which is pretty nice feature if you just want to give it a try and see if you like it or don't like it another great thing is it has a lifetime warranty as well so if this plate were to break or something some critical failure were to happen to the wallet you can send us the ridge and they will replace it now i haven't actually used a lifetime warranty on this wallet but i do have one of their backpacks and it had a malfunction and i sent them pictures and they sent me a brand new one so i do know that they are pretty good at living up to their warranty so as far as the exterior goes like i said this is the aluminum one it's actually a 6061 t6 aluminum this one runs right now at 75 dollars you can get this exact same wallet in a titanium which costs 105 and the carbon fiber one which i've i got a chance to to check out and that's 125 dollar ones so if you want to go a little bit nicer than the aluminum um you definitely can a cool thing about these wallets you know they are rfid protected so that way someone can't walk by with a scanner in a suitcase and go across your you know the wallets in your pocket and they can steal your information so that's a nice thing to have so clearly you can see you know this wallet started out all black um all along the edges here let's get a little closer um it looks like the paint has worn and there are lots of chips here i will say i do have quite a bit of keys on my keychain and i put them in the same pocket so they do kind of rub up against this wallet quite a bit and you can definitely tell that another thing to to note is there are these little screws on the wallet um all around and on this side as well when you get the wallet it comes with the little hex screwdrivers torx screwdrivers and one thing i will note is i have had a couple of these fall out without me even noticing it so i one thing you can do to prevent that is to actually tighten them monthly so the next thing that i would like to move through is what they call the cash strap now you can now buy this wallet with the cash strap which was the original i believe and you can also buy it with just a money clip i've had some bad experiences with other money clips so the cash strap is the way to go for me now um my bad experience with other money clips is i've actually lost cash this money clip does a great job at holding the cash i mean it it doesn't i've never had to come out or even come close coming out it is really good at that and there's a couple reasons why i think that is the case um the first main reason is this strap is pretty tight even you know with no money in it it doesn't look loose or anything the next thing is there are on the back of the strap that's facing the cast these little traction bubbles little rubber bubbles that grip the cash pretty well and the last thing is you'll notice that there you know there is this cache plate i think is what it's called and on the corners of the catch plate the edges are actually quite fine and so i think when you do have a lot of cash it digs into the bills which i think is awesome now a couple cons of the cash strap as you can see it does attract a little bit of pocket length um which you know you can pick off as time goes on another con that i've had is i've actually had a couple frayed ends of this cash strap come off and i just cut it with scissors and overall i mean the strap looks in excellent condition with over a year they do have replacement straps where you can actually you know unscrew these plates and replace the strap i'll post a link for the replacement straps as well as these this replacement screws they're only right now i think seven bucks a piece so it's way better than replacing the whole wallet moving on to the the main item which is the card fit right now i'm running a decent amount of cards here it says 1 to 12. usually i run about 5 to 9. sometimes i'll go ultra light if i'm just going out to the bars but one thing i wanted to know so i i've been having this for you know a year like i said and it still holds its elasticity pretty well if i was just to put this little scan card in it holds it really well so card fits great now the one thing that i will say about the card fit that took me some getting used to is if i go and pull out usually pull it out at an angle i've had a couple times especially when i first had it where i'd go to pull it out and they all just kind of fall and that is not the greatest thing ever to experience but you know that just comes with practice and some getting used to so in conclusion i think this is a great wallet you know if you if you keep up with tightening the screws and you know every couple years replace the strap you you have a wallet that could last a long time um it's great for now that everything's digitized and you can have apple pay and google pay you really don't need a lot of cards now and this thing is pretty small it's the size of a card so when you slide in your pocket it it's not super bulky you don't get that dad wallet with a bunch of receipts and a bunch of cards and gift cards and i think it's really great wall and i've really loved using it so i hope you guys enjoy this video like i said before feel free to like and subscribe if you like the content and let me know if you guys have any questions thanks for watching take care
