hey guys welcome back to another video so last year i reviewed the still wallet and quickly became one of my favorite minimalist wallets on the market and in my opinion it was almost a perfect wallet so how do you improve on that well i believe they did let me introduce you guys to the exto by akini yes they changed their name too let's check it out but before we get started i have two extols to give away so stay tuned to the end of this video to find out how you can win one of these bad boys right here alright so the brand new extol wallet by akini arrives to you in a very familiar box that's right it's basically the same box they use for the original still wallet we have a little sleeve right here but instead of the stow logo now we have this little akini symbol right here and if i turn to the side right here you can see the bikini logo and right here it says creators of stoke then flip it to the back side here we have some of the features but that's enough of the sleeve let's take a look at this bad boy right here and here it is the extol wallet by akini and the only other thing that's in the box here is some still bucks that'll help you get 10 off your next purchase all right so let me give you guys a nice close-up of the brand new extol here and while you guys are checking this out let's talk about some of the features all right so the x still comes in four different sizes a four card size a six card an eight card the one that i have right here and a ten card and as of right now comes in six different colors the one that i have right here is jet black then there's also a navy blue a rhino gray a forest green a desert sand and the crimson red and just like the original still wallet the x dough is cnc machined out of aerospace grade aluminum and even though you have to choose your card capacity each stow wallet can hold up to five business cards and eight bills but i'll go over that a little bit later on in this video it now has a thin stainless steel inner spring it replaces the plastic one from the original still wallet and it's also a little bit larger to store larger currency and if you take a look right here now has an attachment point for a lanyard or a keychain attachment and now you can get the optional business card holder in carbon fiber and the cover plate and foam mount have changed slightly too now they feature the akini logo all right that's enough for the quick feature so let's talk dimensions all right so the extol has a length of 3.75 inches and a width of 2.3 inches and they don't mention how much it weighs on the website so let's weigh it all right so i took the carbon fiber business card holder out and all the other stuff that was in there just want to weigh it bare all right so it's 1.3 ounces and that 1.3 ounces is 38 grams so now i'm just curious i'm gonna weigh the old still wallet and we take everything out that i can and ounces see what it says all right 1.1 ounces and 32 grams so obviously the new x dough is gonna be slightly heavier than the og stove wallet because now we have that stainless steel inner spring there as opposed to the plastic we saw in the original stow wallet so let's do a side-by-side comparison with the original still wallet here so at first glance it's really tough to spot the differences here but if i get in a little bit closer slight differences such as these little cutout lines on the original still wallet you don't see that here on the new x dough and if i turn it to the side here you can get a better look at some of the differences that they made with a new x dough in particular the larger deeper cutout right here as opposed to the more shallow cutout for the little storage area that we have on the bottom for storing currency and whatnot and from this angle right here it appears that we have a slightly deeper tray here on the x though than we saw on the original stow wallet and then one of the most obvious differences right here this stainless steel inner spring as opposed to the curved bubbly plastic spring we saw on the stow wallet not only does the stainless steel inner spring give the new exter a more premium feel but it also adds a little bit of weight to it now after my weight test the x dough doesn't weigh a heck of a lot more than a still wallet but holding them side by side i can definitely tell the difference and now let's take a look at the size difference so side by side you can't really tell but if i put them back to back like this you can see that the x stow is slightly longer than the original still wallet so being slightly longer it gives you the ability to carry larger currency in this little area down here on the original stowe wallet our only option was this thin plastic business card holder but now you can upgrade to this carbon fiber business card holder and this thing is pretty rigid so it's definitely a huge upgrade over that thin plastic piece and plus it just gives it a much nicer aesthetic but if you want to upgrade to this carbon fiber business holder it's an extra six bucks and with both business card holders removed you can see the huge differences in the back of the wallet here so in my opinion this is one of the biggest upgrades in quality coming from the stove to the extel wallet so akini claims that the new xto has a better click for optimized card locking so let's test that so as i mentioned earlier this can hold eight cards so right here i have four flat credit cards and four embossed credit cards so i'm just gonna use one right now let's test out the new optimized click for better holding of these credit cards so let's listen to this okay let's do it again cool and now let's test out the og's still wallet and oh okay so let's try that again and yeah it definitely has a better click than the original still wall let's do that again on the exto boom so i can definitely confirm that it does have a better locking mechanism than the original stow wallet all right so now let's get all eight cards into the eight card capacity for its maximum and there we go so there we go we have a maximum of eight cards in the x though and it's gonna act just like the original stow wallet did with its functionality and yes the original still wallet was one of the most functional minimalist wallets i have ever used it was so easy to flip through your cards and grab whatever card you wanted out even in the middle or at the end so if you guys didn't see my original still wallet review let me just show you guys what i'm talking about obviously with that top card comes out super easy and as you guys already saw it slides in super easy and locks right into place and if i give you guys a shake test not a shot these things aren't going anywhere but where the original still wall and the extol wallet really shines is getting your cards out of the middle here so all you have to do is just use the flip method here and i want to grab that first flat card just grab it from behind take it right out and close it shut and if i want to get that card right back to the exact same spot just navigate to where you want it which was right there slide it back into the middle and close it up and one of my favorite features let's see if i can still do this actually if i want to get these four top emboss cards on the bottom just split it like this push those off to the side and flip it as so and now i just transferred those four cards from the bottom right to the top it's super easy to do with a little bit of practice and let's put those back and without even taking the cards out just flip them right back to the original position so now you guys can see why the still wallet was one of my favorite minimalist wallets of last year and a kini with this new exto just improved upon it so what about cash they say it can hold up to eight bills so i have eight singles right here they say eight bills if it's folded into thirds so let's do that right here so a bill's folded into thirds now just take your cards slide it to the side like a little drawer take your money stick it in there and close it shut so right now i have the maximum eight credit cards and eight bills in a little storage area down below and getting those bills out just as easy slide open the little drawer of credit cards take out your bills but i know a lot of you don't like folding your bills into thirds so i'm just gonna test out real quick how it works if it's folded into quarters so eight bills folded into quarters slide open our drawer of credit cards stick it on the bottom and oh yeah easy not a problem at all so for me i'm just going to continue folding my bills into quarters because it looks like it does not have any problems at all doing that and now one of the functions i rarely use is putting business cards back here under the business card holder so they say a maximum of five business cards i have five right here including the demo stow card that they give you slide those business cards in there and put the business card holder back on top and easy so currently we are at max capacity five business cards eight bills folded into quarters and eight credit cards four flats and four embossed and honestly guys i don't have any more bills to fit under there but i believe i can fit a few more bills in that little storage area down here and no they don't claim that this wallet is rfid protected especially this open side right here but with the body being made of aluminum and that new stainless steel inner spring in my opinion if you put this in your pocket this way where this side is sticking outward in theory it should be rfid protected because this is aluminum and we have stainless steel inside but if that's still an issue for you they do sell cover cards so you just have to replace one of your credit cards with the cover card here and fits right on top and there you go and also let's check out this phone mount that they give you so here is the foam mount which is also an option and on the back here we have some peel away adhesive so what you want to do is peel this away stick this on the back of your phone and then if you want to mount this on the back of your phone just slide it on as so and now you're going to have your phone here and it just sticks right to the back as so i'm not going to demonstrate that right now because i have a leather cover but you guys get the idea and this could be my new favorite minimalist travel wallet because we have such an open area right here if you have a hotel key card like this once you have your card on the top you don't even have to take the card out to enter your hotel room so you can see here i just take the wallet out of my pocket tap the rfid scanner and i walk right in without even removing this card and then you can see right here i do the exact same thing to enter my room so you can see the possibilities if you have cars to enter your place of work or even putting your id card right here on the top for work and i'm sure you guys have noticed my channel logo laser etched right there in the corner yes that is an option they do offer laser etching for whatever logo or name you want to put on your wallet and check out this very cool custom job done for zippo ranch now zippo ranch is a friend of the channel and he sent me these pictures and i was just blown away by the quality of the etching of his logo so it just gives you an idea what can be done with their laser etching now zippo ranch is recording a video on his x though so if you guys want to check that out i'll leave a link to his channel down below in my description box alright so let's talk about what i like about this wallet so they improved on the functionality over the original stow wallet by having a better click and locking mechanism i also love the stainless steel inner spring right here in my opinion it gives the wallet a more premium feel i like the fact that they added an attachment point right here and the option to upgrade to this carbon fiber business card holder is appreciated and the choice to customize this inner spring here the optional card cover here and foam mount make this a very versatile wallet all right now let's talk about what i don't like about the x dough and to be honest with you guys there's really not much at all i don't like about this wallet but instead i'll just talk about what i want to see from the next extol wallet instead of only having an aluminum body give us a choice of materials how cool would an all carbon fiber extol wallet be or even go super premium with titanium so just picture a titanium body with a carbon fiber business card holder and a titanium inner spring now that is a wallet that i would like to see all right guys it's giveaway time so right here i have the forest green extol wallet and the desert sand extel wallet so how do you win one of these bad boys right here i'll have all the information down below in my description box all right guys that's pretty much it for this video what do you guys think of the new extol wallet by akini you guys already know that i love the original stow wallet so what akini did was they took everything that i loved about the stowe wallet and just made it better so would i recommend the extol wallet absolutely i would in fact this jumps to the very top of my list of one of my favorite releases of this year now if you guys want to check out the x dough for yourself i have links below in my description box but if you guys did enjoy this video please give me that thumbs up please subscribe and go [Music] bye
