The Power of a Touch

[Music] [Music] Matthew chapter 9 is working start you know John Lake was part of the Apostolic Faith Movement under Charles Parham for a while and then he also traveled South Africa he started the Apostolic Faith Mission in South Africa and so the term apostolic to the early Pentecostal is meant to go it meant to reach out it meant to follow the teachings of the Apostles the teachings of Jesus but it meant to be very mission my jura missionary minded you could even say and it's funny because looking into scriptures sometimes you know we go all over the Bible and I remember one time they were asking someone about a sermon that John Lake preached and the person answered and said well it was perfectly apostolic he started in Matthew and went all around the world with it and came back because he covered so many different scriptures during his preaching so today we're not going to be completely totally apostolic we're only going to predominately stay within the Gospels but we want to start in Matthew chapter 9 and recently when I was in Portland I ministered along these lines and I want to bring this out here because we are reproducing the series from there it was called divine invasion and we talked about several different aspects of the new creation about walking as a new creation different aspects of it there's a lot more to it than that but and then there was a aspects of healing also but I want to bring this out because I don't want people to have to wait until all of that is prepared produced and then released we're wanting to be able to get this out to you quickly because this is something I guess you could call this a teaching session if you wanted to but I want us to look at Matthew chapter 9 and I'm going to take it say slow I'm not sure how slow I'll go in it but I want to take you point by point early is the case and so in Matthew chapter none we will see in verse 19 was starting nineteen Jesus had just been healing and different things and people are calling him to go and pray for other people and in verse 19 it says and Jesus arose and followed him this man that was asking him to come raise his daughter up and so did his disciples and look at verse 20 and behold a woman which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years came behind him and touched the hem of his garment now notice it says for she said within herself she said within herself if I may but touch His garment I shall be whole but when Jesus turned him about and when he saw her and when he saw her he said daughter be of good comfort your faith has made you whole and the woman was made whole from that hour now any other Gospels it says that he said somebody touched me and they said Lord look at everybody's touching you he said no somebody touch me so we understand there's two kinds of touches there's people that was touching him just to touch him like you you know would see probably at a concert somewhere people try to touch the band or touch the singer or whatever it is just out of an affection for the person but here he didn't even recognize all those touches he recognized a certain kind of touch and this kind of touch that he recognized was a touch of faith and so I just want to talk a little bit for this morning about the the power or the value I would say the power of a touch and I want to emphasize one particular thing so don't think this is just some type of you know religious teaching it's not it's it's not just that I want you to get a hold of the essence of what I'm trying to say and it's just because when I minister to people I'm conscious of certain things about it I'm more conscious about the overall what's happening many times than the people themselves because they come for healing or they come for this thing or that thing and so they're they're trying to see a particular thing or see it a certain way and I'm looking at it in a way that it's almost like I'm experimenting and then I'm seeing what happens and so I want to talk about it because there's a there's a thing that happens that makes all the difference and if you can purposely cause that thing to happen then healing is always present right and so you say well where's God not well God is always present and he's always willing so if there's a hindrance if there's something going on if there's some reason why certain people aren't getting healers on earth that there's a reason for it and if we can eliminate that reason then we can get more people healed amen because it's not on gods in God has done everything he needs to do to get every person healed Jesus bore the stripes on his back that paid for every healing it's a done deal God is always willing he is always there he is always present and so we have to find out what if anything stops that but and again remember I'm not talking okay at this point I'm talking about a person touching Jesus in just a minute we're gonna turn this around and I'm gonna show you a whole lot more time so I know that's not good English but it's a it's in the battle a whole lot more of Jesus touching people right now we know crowds touched him and there's a lot of people and that's good but and if you can quote-unquote touch Jesus then great you can get healed you know I don't necessarily like that terminology but what I want to get across this morning is that and I'll give you the the summary right now okay what I want you to understand before you leave here tonight or today you're not gonna leave here tonight don't get worried it's not gonna last that long okay but I want you I want you to get this point we don't have to lay hands for any length of time it's not in how long it's not like the longer I lay hands on you the more healed you're gonna get right even and I know most he wouldn't believe that anyway but I have to say it anyway because there is that underlying thing of well I want this to be an event I want this to be a thing right and we to realize that it doesn't take God any time at all to do what he needs to do right most okay I said this is what a lot of preachers don't like me is because demystify a lot of the stuff and sometimes people like things mystified because well for various reasons but most of a service of a church service the reason sometimes they last as long or the reason sometimes it well yeah just so how they last so long sometimes it's the music sometimes it's the preaching but the reason it lasts so long is because you're trying to get the people to a place where they can receive and sometimes it can take a while to get them there unless you know how to blast through that anyway and get it there now you can if you're looking for their faith then yeah you're gonna have to work them up you're going to build faith you're going to have to do things that will build faith and you might have to take some time to get to people there because the first half you know I say half the first part is not even about getting faith into people the first part is getting your minds here and not you know what you got to do tomorrow what you got to do when you get done here did you you know did you leave the pot roast on did you leave the stove on did you did you lock the door you got all that stuff that goes on in people's minds and you're trying to corral everybody so everybody's focused in one area so they can hear and if everybody could get here focused services wouldn't last long at all especially if you came for healing or something like that because then it would just be down to okay let's let's get this done then we could actually do a lot of the healing service right at the beginning and then let people stay for the preaching of the word and worship so but a lot of the church service is geared because most people try to minister to people at their level of faith or they try to get their faith level up to a place where they can receive and that's what takes a lot of time when you see services that last a long time they're trying to get people to that place now and it's funny too because people come in and everybody comes in and they want a great service and they're expecting everybody else to have been praying and fasting and everybody else is at a high level and they want to come in and just you know kind of feed off of that you know see what I mean in other words if everybody comes here thinking everybody else has prayed up then nobody's prayed up you understand what I'm saying with that right and and so everybody is really trying to rely on somebody else to get it done and so what we want to do is want to all come together so that we all come together ready not just to receive but also to give and a lot of times when if I'm laying hands on people like in a healing line at the end of service and people are talking and you know leaving in that concept I get it you know you got places to go I get that talking the talking doesn't bother me doesn't interfere with me I've learned how to you know ignore it and so it doesn't bother me so it doesn't affect the ministry some ministers with oh you're you know grieving the Holy Spirit okay there you're more grieving them because they can't focus then you are the Holy Spirit Holy Spirit's focused he's not focused on your conversation back there when you're just talking he's focused on this person's need and so really it's the the minister many times that can't focus because people are talking and different things just like whenever I'm ministering and there's sometimes music going on it's a you know like a concert it's so loud that you can't hear each of you talking and sometimes that bothers the person you're praying for it doesn't bother me a bit because why I'm not talking to them said the person I'm praying for they don't have to hear what I say because I'm not talking to them if it was psychological they would have to hear and understand and that would be a placebo effect but whenever I'm ministering to somebody I'm not talking to them I'm talking that sickness or disease and believe me when I speak in the name of Jesus it hears and so it doesn matter what's going on but it is sometimes you know if you do try to talk to somebody something it's kind of rough now so look at here in Matthew 9 20 it says she touched him now if you read the other Gospels it says that Jesus recognizes somebody touched him but didn't know who well here Matthew kind condenses and says he turned around saw her and said your faces healed but in other Gospels it said that finally when Jesus found out or saw that the woman who it was that had touched him so in other words he had to turn around and go okay who did this and he had to find who had actually touched him now the thing is because it put yourself there okay you got a crowd of people around Jesus this woman sneaks in because she's not supposed to be in public she could have been taken out the city and stoned literally for being in public in her condition and so but so she sneaks up behind him because she said within herself if I just touch the hem of His garment I'll be made whole and that's exactly what she did now what we know is this and I want you to picture what actually happened because here's what we know we know that she did not grab the hem of His garment she touched me see the difference there is a difference between grabbing and touching if she had grabbed when he turned around he would have known instantly who did it because she's holding on she didn't hold on she touched the hem of the garment he did not feel the physical touch because everybody else was physically touching him he didn't feel the physical touch he felt and get this he felt the drain of power go from him to her now I'm not saying that his power level went down and all of a sudden he had to go back I'm gonna say I was then he felt the pull all right you get that he felt the pull he felt power go out of him virtue the Bible calls it in it funny the power is called virtue no I thought that's that's good so if you have power you have virtue so if you want to be virtuous get power right okay you know a whole another sermon anyone write that down I'll preach it later okay teacher there you go so she touched the hem of His garment now and this is one of what I want to share with you this morning go with me to want to go to another go with me to Matthew 14 now this was Matthew 9 never going to Matthew 14 and look at verse 35 and when the men of that place had knowledge of him knew he was there they sent out into all that country roundabout and brought unto him all that were diseased so they heard hey Jesus is here you know the guy's healing everybody get everybody bring them in get everybody here and they brought the whole crowd everybody from that round from that area roundabout and he but know what this and besought him that they might only touch the hem of His garment as many as touched were made perfectly whole and notice they said then get this this is five chapters later they say Jesus is here get everybody and now watch they besought him that they might only touch the hem of His garment they didn't come to and say hey would you lay hands on me it didn't say that hey can we touch the hem of your garment I'm sure Jesus thought yd one touch from a garment I'm right here I could do this right but notice he went along with it and as many as touched the hem of His garment they got healed now how did they know to do that well because of the testimony of the woman she was a first person to touch the hem of the garment and get healed so that word spread I mean her testimony spread and now five chapters later everybody's trying to touch the hem of the garment why because it's easier to touch somebody than it is necessarily maybe to get them to touch you and they're right because you can just walk up to somebody and touch them but getting them to lay hands on you now you gotta ask them a question they may or may not do it or whatever else it's just easier right we always used to say it's easier to get forgiveness than it is to get permission right and that's kind of the way we operate generally okay that's why we got people like I mentioned in the first session like you know Johnny and Marie Gunzburg down in Florida and Marty and Brigitte up in Canada that they just got to hold this message and ran with it I mean just started going and and we're contacting us and wanting us to work with them but honestly we hear that a lot and we don't get a chance to really work with everybody that just says hey work with me hit the ground running and when you do and you're asking questions about hey how do I do this as opposed to hey can we sit down and talk if you say if you write me and say hey if I come down can we sit down and talk maybe but if you say hey you know I'm praying for this person and this is a you know what should I do you're going to get an answer faster for that than to come sit down and talk let me see one sin one because I see you're doing something I would rather be around people that do than people that talk right and we got a lot of people that talk but the people that do catch my attention and those are the people that I want to work with why because they're actually doing and we're not holding their hands but we start trying to help them as much as we can because I see they're actually going to do something with this so that's why whenever you know we're looking for people that actually want to do something and not just sit around talk about it I'm I want my theology to be as perfect as possible but I'm not so interested in getting every jot and tittle perfect as I am in touching people's lives helping people and getting them to move forward amen so now because otherwise we just become Pharisees and constantly picking people apart and oh this doctrine that duck and that's not that's not what Jesus was about it's not what we're about we're not trying to do that we want to be as accurate as possible believe me and stickler for the Bible yet at the same time we've got to change lives and one of the fastest way to do that is to multiply and to reproduce ourselves and other people and disciple people and get them moving out but because I can't be everywhere we have to be able to convince people that they can start where they are right that's one of the big things now about activation and impartation and those things I had none of that I had none that but by the time I actually had people of any renowned lay hands on me I was already doing I was already here I already seemed by that time I'd already seen the dead raised I'd already seen the sick you before anybody ever laid hands on me I didn't have anybody to activate me nobody to impart to me or anything else other than they imparted the Word of God and because I believe the Word of God I stepped up so I understand you know working together and being together discipleship I get that but just because maybe there's nobody around you to lay hands on you that does not give you an excuse not to obey the Bible right you have to obey the Bible where anybody lays hands on you or not you know so just get started you get started contact us we'll work with you now but notice here these people says they that they might only touch the hem of his garment and as many as touched were made perfectly whole and notice these are people that are coming up they're not grabbing ahold of they're not hanging on to him they're they're they're just they're just touching and here they're coming up and touching the hem of his garment and there's there's more that we could actually read into that there's scriptures to talk about that the Sun of righteousness will arise with healing in his wings and the wings were actually the hymns of the garment and that kind of thing is that I get all that but it's not there was nothing magic about his garment it's the fact that it was power virtue in him because he felt it leave him he didn't feel it leave his garment right and so it was in him and the fact that he wore the garment then it that power that was in him saturated the very clothing we see the same thing in Acts chapter 19 verse 12 when they said that Paul took aprons and handkerchief from his body and gave it out and if somebody is sick they got healed and if somebody had Devils the Devils left now no prayer it wasn't a prayer cloth it was a worn cloth right so you know I understand we call it prayer clause but it's not about the prayer it's about the life that's in the person it's about the power that's in the person that goes into that cloth and it literally goes in and and saturates it and it can be passed around and everybody that grabs ahold of it or has it laid on them can get healed which proves that God doesn't care what you have or how you got it or anything he's not a respecter of persons he's not picking and choosing right you get near a fire you get warm it's that simple you wear clothing I was in Portland at the end of the meeting and it was pretty warm and at the end of the meeting a man came up to me as I've just finished I think it was the last the heating service I mean caught me at the door just as I was going out and stuck out his hand I shook his hand he said I want your shirt I'm like well I'm wearing it he goes I know and he said but I want your shirt he said I don't care I want your shirt I want something that you're wearing and I'm like okay wait here because I am ex-military I always wear a t-shirt it's not in the backroom pull it off him a t-shirt put my shirt back on brought it out I said here it is it's hot here been sweating okay so gave him that but he was excited because he wanted to take that shirt back to somebody and put it on him and I guarantee they got him again I hadn't heard yet but I guarantee it one I don't have to wait to hear I know what happened what and I will hear because I know what happened hey man so but and plus I had a lot of t-shirts I don't have a lot of these shirts no notice it as me it's touched him then notice again this wasn't a grab I want to get to us across this was not a time consuming thing this was a quick thing the woman touched got healed right these people touched him they were healed as many as touched him got here now it doesn't say they were all healed instantly I don't know that I'm not gonna I'm not gonna say either way because the Bible didn't say it just says they were all healed I assume it was at least quick enough that they could tell everybody got healed right so I tried to be very accurate nice things but now let's go look at some others go back with me at Matthew chapter 8 Matthew 8 look at verse verse 15 yeah verse 14 sorry verse 14 and when Jesus was coming to Peter's house he saw his wife's mother laid and sick of a fever Peters mother-in-law and he touched her hand and the fever left her near that he touched her hand and the fever left her it doesn't say how he touched right if it doesn't say how we can't say how right we can't make a doctrine out of how to lay hands on the sick we can only lay hands on the sick and however we do it we'll be okay right now here says then he touched her hand and the fever left her now in another gospel says he rebuked the fever so apparently he touched her hand and said fever go and it left right so now we know there was a touch but there was also a statement many times when he touched people he would make a statement now but notice it says he touched her hand it didn't say he took her by the hand you get that because other places like in Acts chapter 3 it says that Peter took the man by the right hand taking the man another right in and lifted him up so now we know that taking by that later on it shows even other people that were raised from the dead that he took him by the hand and raised him up so there's a difference between taking someone by the hand and touching I really want to draw this I'm gonna I want to make this so clear to you right because many times we think well I don't have time to stop here and pray right now you know I'm going in this person sick I don't have time to pray I don't have time to do this thing and I want to get you away from the idea of doing a thing I want you to understand that what happens healing happens because you believe that's why it happens not because of anything else not because of a ritual or a pattern or a formula it happens because you believe and when you in what you believe determines what happens if you believe well you know I'm not sure I can get you totally healed but I can make you feel better well guess what they're not gonna get totally healed they're gonna feel better right but what so you're gonna get what you believe because what you're giving is what you believe right now and this is a little harder turn to sometimes put into words actually I had enough time up in Portland to really go into this and portal was the first place I think this is one of the sessions there where I really went in depth about how to release the Spirit of God out of your spirit and into your flesh or into other people and so I went into detail about how it works and and probably the most detail I've ever done and so I'm really excited about getting this out I I would have almost called this you know the the the science of the spirit or something like that because there was a lot of detail in these things that was coming out so I was really really pleased with the the messages that came out now in the notice it says in verse we were in verse 14 to 15 he touched her hand so we don't know what he did but if it says touch you know you can get religious and touch a certain way or you can touch or you know you can touch and however you do it and if you touch like that that still be laying hands that's laying hands this you know this laying hands there's all kinds of laying hands but I want to get to the point where a this healing a healing if it can happen in a touch that means it happens in a moment it doesn't happen we don't we don't stand there and just wait and wait and wait and keep pouring and keep pouring and keep you don't have to do that you can you can do that or you can decide to release now you can go out and give a bad example here for some reason it's the first one to come to mind okay so when you lay hands you lay hands and you lay hands and you keep it there and you keep it there and give it there that's kind of like the Vietnam War carpet bombing okay I told you what it wasn't the best example but they would carpet bomb what because they're just trying to hit everything right they're just trying to to clear an entire area or there's a better way of clearing an entire area and that is a nuclear explosion right you set off a nuclear explosion guess what happens everything's gonna get cleared now what's the difference carpet bombing takes time nuclear explosion done you get it now think about this man's way of healing takes time take these pills take this medicine come in let me cut on you it's going to take you three weeks to heal what a time right God's Way nuclear boom done you get it now the moment the person believes that the person is praying the moment they believe they can speak and it can take place they can touch and it will take place it doesn't take time for it to take place now here's what I mean when you lay hands on someone or you touch someone or you speak a word instantly in they're now in their spirit they're already healed their spirit especially they're born again they're already healed right it's it's a done deal right what you're doing is you're adding life into their flesh in other words they've got enough life in their spirit to keep them alive right but now when you lay hands on them now you're adding that spirit life into them that goes beyond what they need to stay alive and goes into their flesh and when it goes into their flesh they're healed and so that's why sometimes healing appears to be a process and can take time even though it was done in a moment let me give another example a little bit better example anyway right it it takes a woman nine months to give birth right take care of the baby and give birth but she became pregnant in a split second right one second she wasn't next minute or next second she was he got that it was that quick right it wasn't a really long drawn-out process or a period of time of getting pregnant now you may be trying to get pregnant for a period of time but I'm saying the moment getting pregnant was instantaneous right one moment you weren't next one what you work that's the way healing is right it happens in a moment now but the funny thing is there may be no physical signs especially like with pregnancy there may be no physical signs for a little bit of time even though and by the time you see the first physical signs of pregnancy you've already been pregnant for a while right so there's a period of time there it may be not a long period time but there's a period of time it's a say it can be the same way with healing in the sense that that person see people and this is the time that faith it takes place the moment hens are laid on a person or a person is touched or a person is spoke to and faith is released at that moment that person is healed now it may take a little bit of time before that healing is seen on the outside just like pouring water on a plant you can pour water on a plant and it may take a little bit of time for the water to get through all the leaves and for you to see at different things but again it shouldn't take long well now what we want to do is we want to see it instantly and that's generally a miracle more than a healing see anything that has ing at the end of it means a process running means you're in the process of run healing you're in the process of being healed so there is a process now miracles are instantaneous and so we can we can talk about miracles or we can talk about healing now healing can also be very fast it can it can almost appear instantaneous or it can take a little bit of time and that's why many times the Bible says and the boy began to amend why that means he wasn't instantly healed that means he got better that's why mark 16 says that and they shall recover their lay hands on the sick and they shall recover recovery is a process of time how long that's you know we don't have a time period it can be 5 minutes 15 minutes 2 hours 2 days it could be a period of time generally it's not that long but the time between laying hens touching speaking a word and seeing it is when you get to use faith right that's when you get to use faith now because that's the moment that using the analogy that's the moment you become pregnant but that's not necessarily when you see the first signs of being pregnant does this make sense because now I've looked at this I've been doing this for 40 years you know we've seen this we've seen the truth of it and now here's the thing the faster you want to see the results either in your own body or in somebody else's there is a key to that and that key is simply having your mind renewed bottom line that's it the more your mind is renewed the faster you see results right now most people do not take the time to get their mind renewed now one of the things that for instance that John Lake used to say he say all right we've prayed now let's take five minutes and just believe God right well the belief in God should be done during the praying I mean that's technically that'd be the best thing but what he was trying to get across is this let's not pray and pray and pray and keep praying and asking God to do it let's ask God let's believe God and now let's just take time to believe God that he's actually answered our prayer and it's a done deal right because the early Pentecostals believed they had to pray through which means they had to pray and pray and pray until they felt like it was real until they felt like it was done and that was her I did pray through but the key is at the moment you decide to believe at that moment you can stop praying what because the minute you believe it's done right so you can pray to the point most prayer is to get you into well I can't really say that most prayer is used to avoid doing something people would rather pray than do it and so they will use prayer as an excuse not to go do and so they'll say we're praying about it in actuality most time they're not even really praying about it so but prayer technically speaking would be you talking to God and getting you into a position where you can believe that make sense so usually the longer the prayers the longer it's taking you to get to a point where you can say I believe it's done that's why many people pray long prayers because they don't believe it's done if you really believe it's done as soon as you speak you don't pray long prayers what it is and so usually if you pray long prayers because you're not sure it's going to be done when you quit praying right and you want to be embarrassed so you'll stand there and pray and you're praying these shotgun prayers you know you just you know a shot okay got snipers that zero in on their target and take their target out didn't got shotgun people okay shotgunners I guess that just point and pull the trigger and hope they hit something right and that's why most people pray most people pray shotgun prayers they just shoot out there somewhere hoping something hits okay God doesn't want a shooting shotgun prayers now it what he wants a shooting is either as a sniper knowing exactly what we're doing or very relationally there of also praying a nuclear prayer where you just you know that's some kind of person asked me one time they said well in your opinion what would be the best weapon personal weapon well you know would you rather have a knife or a hand grenade I'm like that depends am I in a field or in mine a phone booth right if you're gonna attack me in a phone booth I want a knife you know or gun maybe right because I'm not gonna pull a pin and drop a grenade in the phone booth when I'm standing there right I want a field where I can toss it so but God wants us using nuclear prayers that we can affect the change instantly in a in a in a split-second amen so let's look at this go back in the scripture now we are in where are we yes in Matthew 8 there we go in 815 it said he touched her hand and the fever left her and she arose and ministered unto them now notice this was pretty quick they were left gone she's healed she's up she's good alright now look at Matthew we're gonna go back to Matthew chapter 9 I know we were just there but now we're gonna go a little bit beyond where we were in 20 and we're gonna go to verse you know what let's go to verse 26 yeah and the fame here of went abroad into all that land and when Jesus departed thence two blind men followed him crying and saying thou son of David have mercy on us then notice they said have mercy but they wanted healing they understood that healing mercy meant healing if they got mercy they get healing they understood that I wish I could get Christians to believe that because why we know from Scripture that every day His mercies are new every day his mercies follows in that right so if we know that then we know that healing is always ours it's always available and verse 28 and when he was come into the house the blind men came to him and saith unto him but never as he and Jesus said unto them bellini that I'm able to do this and they said in him yeh Lord then touched he their eyes saying according to your faith be it unto you now when he said according your faith he wasn't saying according to how much faith you have he was saying what you've just said you've just spoken your faith out of the abundance of heart the mouth mouth speaks he's in according to what you just said so be it that's all he was doing right but now noticed he touched their eyes and he spoke but now I can promise you if he touched her eyes he didn't you know stand there for 15 minutes there was several there was a couple of them there right so he touched their eyes and spoke now watch and their eyes were opened and Jesus straitly charged him saying see that no man know it and that also proves he wasn't doing it to prove he was God or to prove anything he - he said don't go tell anybody he was doing it because it was the right thing to do right now go with me I'm sure he several of them go with me to Matthew chapter 20 Matthew 20 we're going to look at verse odissey miss start at verse 29 and as they departed from Jericho a great multitude followed him and I remember there's still in Matthew so this is not the same story even though you it sounds similar and a great multitude followed him behold two blind men sitting by the wayside when they heard that Jesus passed by I cried out saying have mercy on us O Lord thou son of David and the multitude rebuked them because they should hold their peace but they cried the more saying have mercy on us O Lord thou son of David and Jesus stood still and called them and said what will you that I should do unto you and they say nem Lord that our eyes may be open so Jesus had compassion on them and touched their eyes notice it says touch ting it right I didn't say he laid his hands on them do you get that it doesn't say he laid his hands on him it says he touched their eyes so he how would you touch eyes well you either go in touch with one finger two fingers something you're gonna you're gonna touch him maybe you do that way I don't know but all he did was touch you get that touch he didn't lay his hands on him and keep him there forever he had different people there so he just touched in a second do you get that that's why I'm trying it across this does not have to be a long drawn-out process this is supposed to be a touch now it says he touched her eyes and immediately their eyes received sight and they followed him now go with me to mark I've only got two more here we're gonna go to mark chapter 7 and let's see we don't want to go yep okay now look at this mark chapter 7 verse 32 yeah we'll start there and they bring unto him one that was deaf and head and had an impediment in his speech and they beseech him to put his hand upon him then they said put your hand upon him so they were expecting hands laid upon right he and he took him aside from the multitude and put his fingers into his ears knew that so he takes it goes let's move over on the side you know you say why did he do that was it but getaway stab her because though it's to get away from the unbelief is good no signs are for the unbelievers right so he didn't try to get away from the unbelief do you really think somebody's unbeliev a come-on right and so he wasn't trying to that I can tell you this guy was deaf right and so Jesus took him aside why cuz everybody around there's noise there's things going on several and Jesus was taking him aside to work with him and see okay here's what we're gonna do and ii would say test it okay now watch this it says i want to look at verse yeah look at this and he took him aside from the multitude put his fingers into his ears so he took put his fingers in his ears okay now watch and he spit and touched his tongue now it didn't say he grabbed his tongue he didn't say laid hands on his tongue it says he touched his tongue now yeah thank God we don't use every example in the Bible and follow it okay I'll be honest yeah I don't want a spitting ministry right I I don't mind the touch ministry but I don't want the spitting ministry all right David Hogan one time he was wearing glasses and this guy came up to him and said well if all this real why do you wear glasses and they've heard look at us and put your hands on me right here and he said when you're done I better see perfectly he said because if I don't I'm gonna knock you out you know had nothing doing my story people say all these kind of things all time and so they're always approaching people and saying what about this what about that it's like really whenever you've laid hands on as many people as he has and seeing the results he has then say something all right maybe David's been so busy fighting for other people that he hadn't fought for himself maybe you know because everybody has to fight for themselves to some degree that's why John Lake when he died at 65 people say why'd he die so early fall what he preached was true that's that's not mine do you know why did he have a stroke they said he died of a stroke and and but he actually lived two weeks after the stroke and then passed it and 65 was too young well I started looking at that and I agree we were promised 70 years were promised 120 years yeah okay I get that most Christians don't fulfill that and yet you got Christians who want to blast somebody for not fulfilling you know there are 70 or there 120 but if you go back and look at the time period in 1965 or 1935 sorry when John Lake passed away the average age mortality age was 54 right so he had already lived way past the average mortality now is that right no but let's just say and he even said himself he said I've lived a life that has wore my body down because when they traveled they didn't fly they went by boat they had wagons they had horses they had some cars and stuff when he was in South Africa almost everything was wagons and horses and it was not easy and yet now you got people sitting in air-conditioning rooms with cushioned pews they want to blast somebody because they didn't live to their 70 right honestly I told her one person asked me they said well they said why did John Lake die at 65 I said probably because he had a congregation people like you he's just ready to get out of here that's probably yeah I'm not always nice I be honest if you don't like it pray for me but anyway this so I tried to be nice I try I really try so anyway notice here it says he taught in verse 34 it's a verse 33 and he took him aside from the multitude put his fingers in his ears he spit and touched his tongue now yeah again today imagine that imagine spitting and and then touching some a stone okay they're gonna file charges on you somebody's gonna even if they get healed somebody's gonna file you know anti health you know violations or something it's gonna be something I don't know but they're gonna do something about it right but here he actually he put his fingers in his ears and then he touched his tongue no how long do you think he left his hand there I mean come on how long like any it's gonna be quick amen can we can we get across the fact that's quick all right come on now go with me yeah go to me to Luke just are you getting are you getting the idea here that we haven't we have formulas we have ways that we think people do things and we have to realize that the Bible really doesn't fit our preconceived ideas you know it doesn't match a lot of the things that we have built up a certain way because we've seen certain movies that show Jesus doing things a certain way and showed him being a certain way and you know you have Jesus of Nazareth that shows every Passover season and you've got that where he acts a certain way and you know because of who produced the movie he had a certain attitude then you got the I think to Matthew where Jesus you know they come they're laughing Jesus where the guys always you know laughing and you know kind of carefree and all that so you got these whole spectrum but we have to realize and just one of the main things you know there's times when you will if you see me somewhere I may be very solemn I mean very you know um if you looked at me you might think well you know he's Caesar seriously in deep thought or or depressed even I mean just look you know look at the look on my face or and then there's other times when you see me and I'm laughing and joking and what because I'm human right and so we have a wide range of emotions Jesus was human in that he took on this human body and he had a wide range of emotions as a matter of fact if anybody had emotions Jesus had him and he felt things even more possibly than we normally feel but yet he kept his emotions under control and he had them they served him he didn't serve them right and that's where most Christians get into trouble is that they let their emotions run and they let they end up serving their emotions rather than causing their emotions to serve them God gave us emotions but at the same time he expects us to control our emotions right and he expects our emotions to work toward the kingdom so no so yeah it just kind of depends and honestly if you see me you know looking very silent at it's usually I'm either kind of meditating on a situation either have prayed about it or I'm thinking about or it's something that has impacted me a testimony or something else that I'm really seriously thinking about but I can go from one you know depth of one thing to the depths or the heights of another emotion just like anybody else and so we have to realize that Jesus was exactly the same way he had a range of things he didn't always walk around the exact same way now in his essence he was always the same he was always ready to preach always ready to pray always ready to heal always ready to set free always right and it didn't matter if he was feeling you know cheerful or if he was feeling very you know meditative if you want to call it that that makes sense and so we do know that he had joy the Bible says even above his brethren so we know that he had that joy but joy hidden a giddiness or always laughing joy is being the same in any circumstance right joy is not happiness most people confuse happiness with joy and it's not the same right God promises you joy he actually really never promised you happiness per se as we think of it today right now he's not he doesn't want you be sad he don't be unhappy in essence but I'm just saying there's a difference between the two you can be you can only be happy when circumstances are good but you can be joyful no matter what's going on that's the difference why and if we're gonna be like him we have to be the same yesterday today and forever amen so that's what we're moving towards now never what I said earlier perfection where progress not perfection right so no look at Luke chapter 7 I believe I told you Luke 7 and we're gonna go to verse 14 I think it is Luke 7 yeah 14 is what I'm looking for yeah yeah now this is well we'll start at verse 12 and yeah what no matter what number I give you you noise assume we're gonna go back at least a couple of verses okay verse 12 now when he came near to this gate of the city this is named behold there was a dead man carried out the only son of his mother and she was a widow and much people of the city was with her and when the people when the Lord saw her he had compassion on her and said unto her weep not and he came and touched as we would say the the casket so here they were carrying him out they were carrying the dead man out and he sees a woman he tells her he's close enough to tell her he walks over apparently to her and says weep not and then he walks over to where the dead man is being carried out and he walks up there hold him and he touches the casket notice he didn't even touch the dead man he touched the casket what does that mean that means that you can touch something and power will go through what if you're touching into the next thing right you get that and so it transit this is okay I'll take this moment here and this is why when I minister to people and I'm going to either touch them or lay hands on them there's always especially if there's a couple's husband and wife parents and with children almost all the time when I start to lay hands on the person that's needs healing the people that are with them will almost always lay hands on them too and I always try to stop that because the person that's sick needs the healing they need to receive what I'm putting out that life exactly but if a person is with them that's not sick not needing anything and and therefore I hate to say that maybe they're more spiritually receptive or whatever it is and many times they bring the sick person they'll be more receptive and more willing to receive and if I lay hands on the sick person it literally the person touch then we'll draw it because it's just like them touching to him of Jesus's garment why because it's transferred and so I always try to tell but please if I'm praying for some animal in heaven please don't touch them keep your hands off of them if you want to stand back okay stand back put your hand you know toward them that's great because when you put your hand toward your pushing out you're not receiving in but when you're laying hands on a person there is that contact eat and you're agreeing but many times because you're spiritually possibly more spiritually receptive it'll actually draw right through them we were before I ever went in well I was in full-time ministry there was a man that came to me needed healing and he another man brought him and the other guy did not need healing and the guy was standing behind him maybe you heard me talk about this and the guy standing behind the guy that brought the sick person was standing behind him and I didn't see him but he had his hand in that on that person's back we just stand there and he's going to agree and so I come up and I start to lay hands on this person and I as I touched this person the guy standing looking at me like okay when's it supposed to start and I'm laying hands on this guy and I'm looking at the guy behind me had his hand I didn't know his hand was touching him the guy behind him a student veteran he was going I mean he was all over the place and he never broke connection and the guy's standard looking at me the sick guy was standard looking at me like come on let's do this he didn't feel anything going through him at all but the other guy back there I mean he was getting blasted and finally I'm like what's going on and I look I'm like I reached remember I actually slapped his hand off him get your hand off of him and and literally as soon as I did that I went back touch a guy and this guy who dropped I mean instantly what because he was siphoning it all off right now you know I understand this sounds strange I get that I'm just telling you what happened I'm telling what we have seen and proven all over the world we've seen this I could give you more and more examples of this exact same thing that's why it's important I mean think about it if you can give a cloth and a person can take it to somebody else and they can get it that means there's something transfer right because I don't know when that person is going to touch it I'm not praying I'm not releasing I'm releasing it into the cloth and then the cloth goes to the person right but now think about that every time I release that like that by laying hands were touching it's also being released into my flesh and into my clothing or whatever else that's why many times we've sent out all kinds of prayer cloths all kinds of different things to people and many times it was clothing that I've worn but I don't pray over my clothes right maybe I should because some people write and say oh that design is of the devil and you shouldn't and it proves you're a false prophet if you wear a certain designs like I know it proves you're spiritually immature go grow up that's what it is it's amazing we had somebody up at the Portland meeting though I came in here and I was under such a spiritual attack and maybe next time you need to post tried and proven people at each corner of the building so demons can't come in it lady you brought them in with you and you came what are you talking about you walk right past you know the guards they're gonna come in you come on get me grow up you know at some point we have to realize greater is He that's in you then he's in the world amen and and we have but most that stuff is New Age actually most of the stuff is taught is this hyper spirituality in the church today is nothing but witchcraft that's what they bring the witchcraft right over and it's come into the church and we look at it and we start saying oh we got to do this and we got to create a covering here okay let me tell you I'm covered with a blood and that means no matter where I go I don't care you know I could preach in the Masonic Lodge and guess what no Masonic Devils are gonna jump off on me they're gonna be jumping out the windows to get away from me but they're not be jumping on me amen why because I'm light in their darkness it's that simple and wherever I put my foot that becomes light also amen and we get it at some point we got to grow up and believe the truth of the word of God of who we are and not be afraid of the devil the devil's beat he's defeated all right he's scared of you soon no he tries to is he's a bully and he Bluffs right and that's what he tries he tries to Bluff you into believing he still powerful and he still has that let me tell he is defeated amen and the only way he works through you is when you agree with him so quit agreeing that he's powerful amen preach him better than your respondent okay anyway all right so where were we we were somewhere here in Luke I know that we were Luke yeah Luke 12 yeah and it says and then notice in verse 14 he came and touched the casket as we would say and they that bear him Stood Still and he said young man I say unto you arise and he that was dead sat up and began to speak and he delivered him to his mother and there came a fear on all and they glorified God saying that a great prophet is risen up among us and that God has visited his people now notice again he touched it doesn't say how long but he touched now go to me - one more we're gonna go to one more Luke 22 over toward the end Luke 22 and look at verse Oh let's start about who let's say it started verse 2 started verse 47 there we go verse 47 and while he yet spoke Jesus behold a multitude multitude and he that was called Judas one of the twelve went before them and drew near unto Jesus to kiss him but jesus said to him Judas betrayus thou the son of man with a kiss when they which were about him saw what would follow they said in him Lord shall we smite with a sword and one of them smote the servant of the high priest and cut off his right ear you hear that now that we know this is Peter and Peter grabs his sword notice he says somebody said Lord are we gonna we're gonna fight we're gonna hit him with the swords we're gonna go after him we're gonna fight here and notice Peter didn't wait for an answer he moved right well why because it's easier to get forgiveness than it is get permission sometimes he said that so he didn't wait to get permission to use the sword he drew his sword and immediately went after Malka we was a server of the high priest and it says he cut off his right ear which means malice was quick and moved because Peter wasn't aiming for an ear he was aiming for his nose right he's aiming for the center of his head he's going straight down and malkos moved and he cut off his right ear now watch this he says here in verse the yep in verse well verse fifty and one of them smote the serving of the high priest and cut off his right ear verse 51 and jesus answered and said suffer ye thus far none of he's just now getting to answer the question they were doing before and he touched his ear and healed him now again it doesn't say what he did it just said touch I wanted to draw it now the reason I'm saying this is because in our and I'm in our meetings especially all over the world we ministered a thousands of people at a time sometimes our healing services will go six hours you know five six seven hours they've gone as long as about eight and a half I think or nine at one point and because I lay hands on every person that wants this I don't lay hands on a couple and then disappear we lay hands on every person that wants hands laid on them and we ministered to them now and because many people are sick and very sick and can't stand and can't wait and we don't want them waiting for hours to get prayed for then two things have to happen then when we have two we had to figure out exactly how we could have people comfortable while we ministered and also how to minister quickly and so I started realizing that say people want me to stop talk ask questions they want a counseling say like they it's like they want to go to a doctor they what they want you know to a doctor's visit they want to talk about the situation they want me to diagnose they want to talk about it and then they want me to do something about it and they wanted to take time but the more time I spend just talking about the problem the less I'm focused on the answer and the answer is always the same then when that's true then the question doesn't matter right and so what I've learned is that all I have to do is decide to touch and believe and the moment I believe and touch it's done right and then I just tell them done just do what you couldn't do before if there's anything in particular if there's something that takes a little bit of time then watch it and let us know but I started going down and started realizing that and this is what we did in Portland we did we've done it all over the world now and I just walk and I'll just touch Jesus name be healed be healed be and it's about that quick touch one because I don't have to touch to let it float I can touch and the believing them if I believe the moment I touch you you're gonna get healed that's what's going to happen and so I decided to just to decide to believe that if I touch you that that it'll work now last thing I was in New York a few years back and I was opening the session and it was a first session we were teaching the DHD and it was in a kind of a clubhouse like a apartment complex you never been to probably maybe I don't know maybe a hundred people if that and they were in this room but there was a dance floor right in the middle of big square dance floor where they normally held dances and there was a platform that I was on that was actually what I was on at that time I turned it into a platform but it was a stage because it was for a music band and it was about four feet off the ground like if four feet is about four feet high I'm just saying that's for those watching back camera is about four feet so anyway that makes me about twelve feet tall anyway it's about four feet now it wasn't everything all right so but I was standing there and I I don't always open with prayer but I did that time and as soon as I closed my eyes and I started praying and right in the middle I mean I had just started praying and all of a sudden this woman started screaming and sure I mean just and she was close and I saw open my eyes because she was right there in front she had got enough room that where she was sitting and it moved up into this open area and just started screaming insane I hate you I hate you we don't want you here and you know and I there's a split second where you're kind of taken by surprise and I'm looking at her and I open my eyes and I'm like we've never met you don't even know me how can you hate me right well I didn't realize I did quickly after that that it was a devil speaking through her right but at first there's that okay what do we do and so she's staying there screaming and she is furious I mean she is shaking she's turned red she's mad she's shaking blood vessels are pumping out of her neck and she is mad right and so you know before I started ministry ever before I ever got the minister I was watching a whole bunch of these old VHS tapes of a alan jack co william branham all these people and so I would watch how they ministered and watch and watch and I kept telling God that's what we need we need that back in the church so I'm watching so that's what's in me right to minister like they did some I'm standing there and all of a sudden in my memory which how many of you know many times we think it's us remembering but it's actually the Holy Spirit bringing all things to our remembrance that's what he does but a lot of times we just cut it off go you know something just told me no it wasn't something it was someone and his name is the Holy Ghost right and so I'm standing there and all of a sudden I remember a video where I'm watching william branham and this guy walks up in the middle of william branham service pulls out a gun and pointed i was going to shoot him and all of a sudden the security starts to move in and William Bratton says nope this is between Jesus and the devil and so he steps down off the platform walks right up to this guy and as he walks up to this guy he said this guy's holding a gun on him right and the whole story came out later he was mad because his wife had gotten saved and all that stuff but anyway he got mad and so he had already told people he's gonna go there and shoot random that night and so he's standing there and Brennan walks up to him and says you will bow your knee to the name of Jesus you will bow your knee to the name of Jess all he ever said and after a few seconds the gun goes down and the guy went to his knees and so then they ran in and grabbed him and took off so I'm standing there this woman screaming I hate you I hate you and all of a sudden in my mind I see that william branham videotape you know and then so i automatically do what i see so I jumped down off the platform now walk up to it and as I walk her to her I said you will bow your knee to the name of Jesus you admitted I was at a better advantage right she didn't have a gun that was that was a plus you know I did use the name of Jesus one time to stop a guy with a knife but at least it wasn't a gun right so but here's a woman and she's screaming out I'm walking up to her and as I as I step closer to her she is just standing there and she's just curious and she's shaken she's so mad and I'm saying I said you will bow your knee to the name of Jesus you will bow your knee than him and I just that's all I ever said and I started walking toward her and then another picture which was from Jesus of Nazareth the movie right even whenever Jesus cast the devil out of the boy and he raised his hands up and it's the shadow behind him on the boy and the boys you know frothing at the mouth and Jesus and he says leave him remember that has that okay and I didn't mimic the voice all right but I did I did mimic the the two-fingered thing right and so I just saw Jesus how he did it you know that's in the movie and so I just went and I I said and I set you free by the finger of God and I touched her now Wow well I'm while she's standing there all of a sudden it was like someone took water and dumped over it I mean literally she started sweating more water than I had ever seen come off of a person like that it was instant it was it was supernatural and it just doused her I mean and then I just boom right now she had dropped to her knees and instantly she when she opened her eyes she was clear looking around she grabbed me hug me I stood her up and then her friend came up and I turned her over to her friend and then they went back and then I walked over to my son-in-law at the book table who was running the camera I walked over to him and it's like oh okay yeah and all of a sudden now you have all the adrenaline and everything going on all that stuff say you're still human all stuff still goes on and so I'm standing there and this other woman walks up and she said and she's you know well-dressed very professional-looking and she comes she because I've seen the devil cast out of people I've been around Pentecost all my life I've seen the devil cast out of people all kinds of ways she said people have screamed they've yelled they've had people on their back and put their Bibles on them I don't know what that's ever supposed to do but that's what they do and she said and I've sympathy Bella and she said but I have never seen a devil cast out with the love of God and I'm like wow and she goes I didn't know if you were for real she goes but I believe you are now she was all state and I'm looking at like so you're the reason all of this happened Bob was trying to get this across to you because it was the first time anything like that had ever happened and so that later on now at that point we started take a break and I went over and talked to the woman and her friend and her friend said you know when I picked her up I told her we were coming this meeting today when I picked her up she said she said she was acting strange she's I've never seen her act this way before but I brought her anyway and she said why you were praying I noticed she stood up and just started walking towards you now her friend the one that got free she didn't know where she was she didn't know how she got there none of that she was completely taken over before they ever got there and so now now she's completely free and she's grabbed my hand shaking my hand and we're talking a bit and then we are and it's funny because as soon as that as soon as that took place I told you right okay we're gonna take a break well we hadn't even had a session yet we had half a prayer and a deliverance right and we hadn't even had a session but we're gonna take a break so I get back up we start to the first three sessions we break for lunch while we go to lunch and we come back this group of religious Pharisees had gotten there and had gotten together right and they came and then the pastor came to me he wouldn't Park them but he came to me he said yeah this group came to me and they said they think that this was a setup they think this was fake that you you you hired this woman and I'm like I told I said okay what do they think that and they said because they said it was too easy like it has to be harder see you know 4G it has to be hard for Jesus to meet the devil really I mean think about how hard did it appear in the Bible for him to beat him right come on so I told him I and he was saying it has to be fake and I said that was the first time I ever told him I said look I know there probably are some preachers somewhere sometime that faked a healing you know got a person in a wheelchair and then that wasn't crippled or whatever wasn't handicapped and and got them out and paid him to do that I said I'm sure that's probably happened I said but whoever does that is an idiot because that means they have to pay that person the rest of their life because the minute they stopped paying them they're gonna expose them and I said so number one I ain't got the money to pay anybody to do any of that right and if I did I sure wouldn't do it I said because I'm not gonna pay them the rest of them of my life and I said so they can do whatever they want with it but this is real and you can ask the woman so we went through this whole discussion and then one actually got up and gave testimony everything and the Pharisees there got mad and left because I pretty much called him on it and told him they were religious Pharisees and they had more faith in the devil than they did in God and so that that upset him so anyway but now notice when I set that woman free I did it I mean it was so fast it was just it was just they wouldn't know come out I'll command you you know and all this stuff did you see you know and it didn't sprinkler with watering and that other stuff you know her head didn't spend no green stuff come out no that stuff that was just but you just you have to realize you have to believe and when you believe all things are possible then to believe it now if you believe it's going to take all day you know take a sack lunch because it's gonna take all day yeah I guess that's because that's what it's going to take because that's what you believe you get what you believe right now you have in your life what you believe it's that simple and all I'm trying to do is get you to believe what the Word of God says so that you'll have what it says amen amen Sam Rahl was always very careful about who he let lay hands on him and he was also very careful about situations matter of fact dr. Sam Rome if you brought a child to him like grandparents would bring a grandchild that needed had a problem with some situation he would say where's where's the parents oh they don't believe in this he'd say all right I'll bless him but that's all I can do what he wouldn't really go after that because he said he's gonna go right back in that home and he's gonna get seven times worse he said so I just I just I'll just bless him now I I get that I don't necessarily agree with it right I still agree always set people free you know go talk to the parents what have you got to do explain whatever it is but set people free you know that's the main thing and but now as far as laying hands and not just letting anybody lay hands on you yeah I've definitely agree with that because now as Christians in our spirit nothing's going to be added that's bad but the Bible well it's what dr. Sorrell saw was that there were times because even witch doctors and your base they lay hands on people too and they impart spirits right and these things going to them so what you reproduce what you are and you release what you are and so that that's why it's important to know who lays hands on you what who are they you know now you can't know everything obviously but you can decide now and what I learned from dr. Murrow when I was there was that I had to decide what I'm willing to receive and so because he would tell people you know a lot of times they would say well you they say I want to speak into your life he say you speak and I'll determine if it goes into my life right you you can yeah I'm not going to say go ahead and speak anything and you say anything he said you speak and then I'll determine because we're to judge prophesy right and so it's the same thing and he taught us that we can determine what we received from people because I can choose what like doctor sir more laid hands on me what she did I would I would choose to you know for him pretty much because I knew of his life it's pretty much your wide open going okay give me all you got whatever it is I'll take it you know but then there are other people that you don't know that and well we went to a particular place one time where they found out who we were and all of a sudden they all wouldn't start laying hands on us and because we had just started a ministry and we were seeing some miracles and things happen and they knew they were going to keep happening and usually whenever you have people they want to lay hands on you so they can take some credit later for having laid hands on you of why you're seeing the miracles and so we determined it very early on we would not allow that to happen especially with the people that were wanting to do that there was no way I can let that personally hand them because I already knew they were you know had issues there yeah absolutely then so so it is important that you know who's laying hands on you it's important that you decide who lays hands on you you know and now if you come in here and we have ministers here that help us then if we have okayed them then you have the choice to okay them or not we believe here that Jesus can work through all of us and I know the people that work here but it's the same time I understand people so well I only want crew to lay hands on me okay I get that but at the same time the bigger vision is that Jesus is in the people so it's important to know who lays hands on you it's important to determine that at the same time there was a question recently where a person set up they had a question about and they said you know the Bible says not to lay hands on any man suddenly and yet you teach people to go out and lay hands on everybody the way it's a difference of application as it's a different reason I said that Scripture is specifically talking about ordination and it's talking about ordaining people into a position of authority now you shouldn't do that quickly but you should lay hands on every sick person that you have time to lay hands on right and he said and the reason it says it is it says don't lay hands on them suddenly or else you'll become partaker of their sins in other words if you don't know them and maybe they're not supposed to be in ministry or something to that degree and you endorse them and they're gonna go out and do things then you become part of whatever they do wrong why cuz you're endorsing them we'd say guilt by association right and so it is important that you know who lays hands on you it's important that you have spiritual discernment to know yes no that kind of thing amen that good enough think looking all right well I'm going to run this stuff to the back if you need ministry I'll be glad to minister to you other than that I thought that was already open other than that yeah you are dismissed and those of you that are watching by internet we bless you in Jesus name we say be healed right now in the name of Jesus be healed and whole head-to-toe free in Jesus name now if you have not made Jesus Lord you should do so now it's never too early but it can often be too late and so make Jesus Lord immediately of your life now and you will be changed and honestly most of time you'll be healed the moment you make Jesus Lord because he takes care of what is his Amen he's a good master he's a good owner and if you give him yourself spirit soul and body he will take care of you spirit soul and body that simple amen it's a god bless you and I'll be back out in just a moment to minister to anyone that would want me to do so other than that god bless you see you again next week [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music]
