so far on YouTube I've done nine mod reviews they've been fantastic they've been wonderful they've provided new and unique experiences to your Rim World playthroughs whilst also providing something fresh and new and something you might not have potentially looked at before so for the 10th one I want to do something special all right it's a celebration a birthday party and anniversary of content 10 for me is a good number to get to to give you something special and the mod that I've chosen today fits the bill it's something unique something special something that I found that's fresh for real world 1.5 in the update this mod is got so much potential and I wanted to Showcase this mod and review it at its current state because I did think this deserves the anniversary celebration it needs introducing the actually automatic guns please ignore the thumbnail for this mod it it definitely needs to be updated this mod basically does what it says on the tint it makes automatic guns actually automatic and let me show you what I mean by that let's get into the content so let's start with the content my first impressions of the sting Workshop page cat this is the first thing I see it's a nice big cat very cute but not relevant whatsoever I've not actually ever reviewed a mod where the thumbnail just wasn't relevant whatsoever even if it's just a screenshot of something that's in the game showcasing the mod in some way anything's better than this cat whilst I do appreciate that the mod author has also included some videos and stuff explaining further how this mod works there's just not much else um the rest of the description and everything there's know issues there's some compatibility stuff and there's some mod recommendations it's the absolute bare minimum for this mod to even take off a little bit further I think this mod Creator needs to put a lot more effort into their Steam Workshop page it's not often that I think this makes a difference but in this case I think it's really letting it down but the content itself makes up for it and let's get into that so while the steam's workshop page has let me down it's the content itself that really shines through now there isn't much content to actually show here the mod doesn't actually provide much content what it provides is an experience a unique experience that we haven't had in R world for quite a long time uh this mod makes automatic weapons actually automatic it does what it says on the tin that's what we like but it Go does it in such a way that I've not seen something like this changed in real world since like combat extended I'm putting this on a level of potential of combat extended that's how excited I am about this mod so at this current moment of time this mod only affects seven weapons that are in base game Rim world the machine pistol the heavy SMG the chain shotgun the assault rifle the charge rifle the minigun and the lmg these weapons have all been changed in such a way they are now automatic what I'll be doing is using one colonist that has got no health conditions and has 10 shooting to use these weapons against a porn with Prestige catract armor and to see how it performs let's get into things and let's start with the machine pistol so as we get into looking at the machine pistol away and our fires what I've got is one colonist with the gun obviously shooting and another col at a set range for where they're going to be shooting at um so as you can see the light machine gun shoots very quickly it shoots very very quickly this change is massive and as we'll see throughout the rest of the guns it is completely gamechanging and following on through machine pistol we have the heavy SMG genuinely thought this one would have performed a little bit better doesn't seem to be doing as well as I expected and definitely not seem to be putting out the damage I expected as well very interesting next we have the chain shotgun for this one I have brought the victim a little bit closer to the chain shotgun shooter just so then it's not at the maximum range for somewhat balancing purposes but it doesn't matter this is like that one picture that I see of the little blonde girl sitting on the surfer with like eight black guys around them this feels like absolute destruction Carnage obliteration and just helplessness I don't know what it is but this is just makes the chain shotgun devastatingly scary and I love it then next we move on to the assault rifles uh the assault rifle obviously itself performs very decently exactly what I expect perfect then following on from that the charge rifle obviously a better weapon does decently well as well shoots a little bit quicker but definitely puts in the damage then next we have the lmg and holy mother of God that's a lot of bullets um obviously this is then going to reflect in the reload time which there is now added by this mod so there is a lot of bullets but there's also a very long reload time and that is even shown further when we look at the minigun then last but not least the minigun and Jesus Christ this is this is brutal it's a Wall of Death like anybody standing in front of this minigun is dead straight away um I'll get further into the balancing of this later in this video but this isn't actually that bad I'm going to be honest it's not that bad I promise so as you can tell these new changes to the automatic weapons are pretty brutal whilst it doesn't change any of the damage values and actually reduces the accuracy it's still extremely quick time to kill and it's brutal kind of like combat extended honestly it increases the time to kill and makes things a lot more lethal how am I going to defend against that how is this going to be balanced out in my playthroughs I like using melee builds how do I get around this well thankfully The Shield belts have been buffed massively increased by three times across every different quality level so now as long as you are using a decent crafter as long as you've got a crafter with at least 15 skill and you're bumping out Masterwork excellent potentially legendary Shield belts your conss are going to be pretty much fine obviously there is no way to have range Shield belts in base game realm so maybe a nice addition by the mod Creator in the future would be a range Shield about to fit in with the lore and everything otherwise you're pretty much limited to being absolutely brutalized you know so there we have it that is all the content that this mod provides now from a Content perspective totally this mod doesn't provide much whilst it does change the fire rates and everything of those seven fully automatic weapons in the game it does also touch the shield belts but I mean that's just such a minor part of gameplay that it doesn't really matter but this mod changes R World significantly I've not seen such a small mod make such a big difference to gameplay the content it does provide is so significant to your game it's unbelievable the potential here is massive and I genuinely hope that this mod really takes off and the mod Creator gets all the support that they deserve I think for Content however because there wasn't that much of it and the Steam Workshop page was really lacking in my opinion I'm going to give it a seven out of 10 just because I want to see more quality I want to see more content I want to see everything pulled off right and obviously there's a lot more potential that needs to be seen through next the quality so next let's look at the Quality how good is this mod and how well has it been pulled off it's very difficult to B judge that honestly there's not much here how can you judge something on the quality of it if there's not much to look at I'm going to go for the fact that the bullets work the way I expect them to they come out the gun and they go there's not much else to look at in terms of the quality here I could talk about the quality of the Steam Workshop page but I've already mentioned that in the content section for Quality just because everything works the way it works and it does everything I expect I'm going to give it a 7 out of 10 very basic because there's not much else to talk about and the fact that this mod does everything I expect is kind of what I'm expecting the quality will be fine with that score next the balancing so next let's look at the balancing the balancing is the most important section of this mod review if this mod is not balanced in any regard we're going to have a bad time now whilst I understand that this mod is very new it's very fresh it's only just been updated a couple of days ago this mod needs to be seeing progress in terms of balancing now let's start and let's look at the shield belts as our first area of balancing so to look at the balancing of The Shield belts cuz obviously like I said earlier in the content section they were increased three times in their ability so they've got become very very powerful so let's look at how they do against a colonist with an assault rifle at decently close range um obviously the one at the worst quality dies very quickly because it's an assault rifle at very close range the next one gets injured the one after that gets injured and the rest of them fa absolutely fine now from a balancing perspective this is decent it makes sense for the quality and everything but obviously rimwood isn't just about automatic weapons we've got melee combat launchers rifles we've got animals to to think about as well this changes so much but I don't feel like we've thought enough about the other things I'd like to maybe see a ranged batt implemented in this because I don't think that we'd be using a range Shield belt for me melee characters and everything and it becomes more specific then using a melee Shield belt to judge ranged damage doesn't quite work and from a balancing perspective it means that it's just going to be S balanced in a melee fight which is not the point of this mod whil I I I can see the vision I can see see it I've got eyes on it it's not quite there very easy changes to be added and implemented but not quite there yet so as we get into the balancing of the weapons what I very quickly want to point out is that this mod is being regularly updated in terms of balancing and compatibility yesterday from the time of recording the minigun was nerfed reduce it reduction in accuracy and everything very nice but also the Min machine pistol was buffed uh reduction in cooldown increased fire rate yes it's got an increased warmup and yes there are less bullets but it's still brutal this just shows that I genuinely think the potential for this mod is massive and if the mod Creator does balancing updates like this regularly and consistently that makes sense this mod is in for a good time despite if the balancing is a little bit off at the current time of recording let's get into things and let's start with the machine pistol so as we saw in the content section the machine pistol obliterated our nice little firing Target with prestige cact arm obliterated them all right for very lowlevel weapon it did an extremely good job as we can see here the range has made a big difference it's doing a decent amount of damage don't get me wrong but it's not killed them it's not knocked them down from damage or anything it's doing the job I was still think that this is too much damage for a machine pistol um but it's better it's not as bad next we have the heavy SMG and you'd like to think that this one would perform a little bit better at a longer range but it doesn't once again the heavy SMG kind of doesn't show how good it is a bit of a shame I'm not going to lie I expected the heavy SMG to definitely outperform the machine pistol I would like to see this one buffed just a little bit definitely Nerf the machine pistol in comparison to this and definitely buff the heavy SMG now moving up a stage and going to the longer range weapons starting with the assault rifle we expect the assault rifle to be performing well at longer ranges somewhat consistently and as you can see he's died the assault has just shot him through the heart and he's dead uh I mean fair enough like good job um no makes sense um I haven't got too much to comment on that then the charge rifle obviously another assault rifle but with a less range once again performs very well knocks our character down not killing them but does it very quickly next we have the chain shotgun and at its maximum range it doesn't do very well good I'm happy that this one underperforms compared to everything else there's nothing worse than having a overpower shotgun obviously at close range this is going to be an absolute brick of a thing um but at this range I'm happy with it moving on to the lmg and once again so many bullets there is so much damage I definitely think moving on to the minigun as well after this that the lmg and the minigun will need a massive reduction in accuracy because the amount of bullets here just doesn't seem fair whilst I know only a few of them are hitting it's a lot a lot a lot so then like I just said the mini the lmg they definitely need some more accuracy reductions cuz there's just so many bullets so much potential for damage here however we can see that many gun Nerf coming to play here it takes two whole bursts to kill and down this person um this is what I expect but the amount of bullets here is just insane like if you were going against a whole group of enemies this is the perfect suppressive weapon the minigun whilst I think it's definitely been improved since the patch probably needs another little Nerf again so that's going to be it in terms of the balancing that is all the balancing I'm going to be showing looking at what we did in the content section and the balancing section here and looking at everything overall the balancing is the most important section for this mod review this mod it needs to be balanced in order for it to fit into your playthroughs and to contend with combat extended which I think it could do in the future and I want to reiterate I love this mod I genuinely feel excited to talk about this mod and it's it's making me happy to look at the gameplay and everything as I'm recording in this video it's just not very balanced I think this mod has got so much potential it needs to be added that we need to add more content to it we need to add a little bit more the mod creator with help from others in the community could make something really special out of this I think a range Shield belt would be a fantastic way to help balance the shield belts and everything I think a damage reduction and an accuracy increase across the board for the automatic weapons would be a really good start as well the machine pistol shoots way too quickly and too many bullets the heavy SMG needs some improvements the chain shotgun keep that dead in the ground keep it dead the assault rifle maybe a small Nerf as well the charge rifle may be a small Nerf as well and the lmg and the minigun need a accuracy reduction and potentially a damage reduction now obviously I'm talking a lot about reduce this change that make that worse you could obviously just make bolt action rifles and things a lot more powerful single shot rifles more powerful make armor more powerful to bring it onto terms we don't necessarily need to be nerfing but potentially just increasing things to make them more balanced balancing is a let down though I do see potential for this mod and the changes can be made quickly I think I think for balancing though I see potential I see a lot of potential and I really really like this mod and I really want to make sure that this comes across how much I love this mod it's just not balanced at the moment at this current moment in time I'm very content giving this B balancing score of a three the lowest balance and score I've ever given it just needs more but I see the potential so next let's look at the compatibility are there any bugs I need to let you about and how this fit with your playthroughs in terms of bugs I've not found anything no issues at all no bugs nothing um I've also noticed as well that this fully automatic stuff doesn't necessarily work with the turrets which is kind of a shame I'd like to see maybe the mini turrets become fully automatic as well obviously another change down the line that could come with the potential of this mod otherwise no issues at all and then how does this mod fit into your playthroughs well funly enough you're not going to be using a fully automatics weapon mods with medieval or tribal era things they do not have fumatic weapons uh this mod is going to fit in fantastically with anything that's industrial and above and when the time comes in terms of mod recommendations we can go further into that I don't think you're going to be wanting to use this in anything that's a little bit more peaceful anything that's a little involving farming stuff I wouldn't maybe run this mod but something that's involving War tragedy brutalism absolutely just sheer death this mod would fit in wonderfully this is a great time if you want to make Rim world as violent as possible so I think in terms of compatibility I'm very comfortable giving it a eight out of 10 next my mod recommendations so as we get into the mod recommendations for this video I think it's very important to start with this mod is not totally compatible with every weapons mod that you can see it's a very new mod it's very fresh and it's literally only compatible at the moment with two weapon mods and armor mods that is it those two armor and weapon mod are The Eccentric Tech foxy Armory 2.0 an eccentric Tech the arm Advanced Shields mod um and obviously I'm going to be recommending both of those right at the beginning uh next in terms of my mod recommendations is the walls are solid mod otherwise you're going to literally mow down every wall so quickly it's going to be unbelievable and then lastly I've gone for the turrets smart covering mod uh just so you can somewhat use turrets and stuff as more cover so you don't get mowed down straight away there's not too many mods I can currently recommend with this mod just because the compatibility for this for other mods is not very very big there is a section on the discussion page for this mod for you to recommend mods that that you want to be made compatible with this and I think you should go do that I think you should go and contribute to this mod um I think for mod recommendations at the current moment in time I think in the future it'll be on the same level as combat extended at the current moment in time for mod recommendations I'm unfortunately going to be giving it a 5 out of 10 just because at the current moment of time it doesn't work with a lot of other weapon mods next let's go to my conclusion as we get into the conclusion I want to reiterate I love this mod it's the happiest I've been thinking and talking about Rim world is this mod it's been invol this mod is amazing I love it so much just because of its uniqueness its ability to make the game feel fresh and I think that's really really important what R world's honestly lacking a little bit whilst I haven't given them the best ratings for the individual areas of this mod review I genuinely believe that this mod could be so good in the future and a mod that I will definitely revisit in another few months when 1.5 is fully out and operational so for Content it received a 7 out of 10 quality 7 out of 10 Again balancing three out of 10 for the compatibility 8 out of 10 and my mod recommendations 5 out of 10 giving the grand total score of 30 just about scraping it into a b tiered mod like I said the potential for this mod is astronomical and I me personally I love this mod I think this mod is fantastic as I keep saying throughout this video I really recommend you guys to go check this out despite its lowest score it's still worth checking out and looking at the unique gameplay opportunities it provides
