The Most Notorious Glitch in Minecraft...

when you think of the most notorious glitches in all of Minecraft what comes to mind maybe the farlands terrain bug from the old beta days of Minecraft or maybe something more simple like using torches and buckets to breathe forever while underwater well there's definitely plenty of options to choose from today I want to talk about what I feel is the most notorious glitch that has ever existed in Minecraft have you ever looked at a diamond block a bottle of enchanting or an enchanted golden apple and wished that you had an infinite amount of that item in survival minecraft but you were in a situation where you couldn't just flip on creative mode yeah today we're gonna talk about some block and item duplication exploits that used to exist in Minecraft which I feel easily qualifies this for being the most notorious minecraft glitch of all time while methods might exist to do this in currently up-to-date versions of the game for security purposes I'm not going to talk 1.7 through beta 1.7.2 duplicating blocks became quite popular when Pistons were first introduced into the game minecraft just broke needless to say since their inclusion Pistons have been at the forefront of item duplication in beta 1.7 though players got really creative with their duplication skills one example of this creativity came in the form of a piston based duplicator working in a very conveyor belt ask fashion this duplicator pushed blocks with ease and duplicated them with minimal effort the only thing the player needed to do was mine up the items as they came out so the piston could continue duplicating instead of stopping at the Pistons push limit creating the duplicator was extremely easy allowing players of almost zero redstone knowledge to be able to use this glitch in their Minecraft world because of the simplicity players took notice and started duping while others had even more crazy ideas youtuber cure char took the idea step further and began creating the Infinity cannon using the duplicator to push TNT into the barrel of the cannon with other Pistons allowed for a completely automatic shooting machine Kier chars video took the community by storm and allowed for players to really use their creativity to make interesting things like this while also getting loads of diamonds however this specific method for duplicating blocks was patched in beta 1.7 point 3 so do you need a ton of glass for a massive building project what about Flint do you hate digging up sand and gravel making your worlds look super unnatural where you've dug out those blocks well trust me whenever I say you would have loved this one in Minecraft beta 1 point 8.1 Pistons were to blame again for another duplication glitch that allowed for players to create an almost endless amount of sand and gravel using sticky pistons to pull gravel and sand upwards and then push the blocks back down in a rhythmatic fashion duplicated items with ease the only downside to this glitch was how specific the timing really had to be well it might have been possible to automate this with redstone in the end it just wasn't worth it since you could duplicate so many blocks so the build was once again extremely easy to create and allowed for players all around the world to take advantage of it due to its sheer simplicity so next up do you need rails or carpets but you don't want to shear a bunch of sheep or waste a bunch of resources to get them well I've got you covered and this one even works in one point 12.2 given that I don't think carpet-bombing a minecraft base will be a huge problem here I don't mind sharing this one using sticky pistons once again observers slime blocks redstone a comparator and a lever players can make a carpet and rail duplication device first off create a platform two by three blocks wide two blocks above the ground then add one block on each of the ends of the platform place a lever on one of the sides and then place a comparator pointing away from the lever and put it into the subtractive mode add redstone on the rest of the platform as you see here on the platform opposite of the lever place a sticky piston facing down then place an observer with the face outwards one block away place another observer with its two faces looking at one another and then place a piston on the back of the observer make an L shape of slime blocks like this and place whatever type of carpet or rail that you want on the slime blocks turn it on and voila you're duplicating loads of rails and carpets the carpet can be used to decorate or even be used as a fuel source and the rails can help you make some pretty interesting builds and rollercoasters so go at it and have fun alright let's get away from pistons if you've ever needed to duplicate a stack of items really quickly in Minecraft one way to do it in Minecraft release 1.8 was with a nether portal and a minecart with a chest placing a portal on the ground placing around for regular rails leading to the portal and putting a minecart with a chest was all you needed to duplicate a stack of items will that and really split-second timing putting an item in the chest and sending it down the track while quickly grabbing the items from the minecart just as it goes to the portal would allow the player to duplicate items on both sides of the portal a set of items in the inventory of the player and in the chest itself which resides the nether well it can take loads of tries to get perfect it was certainly a skill to master if you wanted to duplicate items quickly in Minecraft 1.8 but what if the method we just talked about was too slow what if you wanted to duplicate a shulker chest worth of items well look no further in Minecraft one point eleven point two using a donkey with half a heart holding a chest and using an end portal and lava will allow you to duplicate items like crazy filling the donkey's chest with shulker boxes filled with whatever you're wanting pushing him through the lava and into the end portal will appear to kill the donkey upon going into the end causing it to drop items which then also get sent into the end well the donkey appeared to die when getting sent into the end you'll see that the donkey actually hasn't died but as somehow dropped a ton of items then when you actually kill the donkey it'll drop the rest of the duplicated items this more or less works the same way as sending items through the nether portal and grabbing them before they go through needless to say this is one of the best duplication glitches in all of Minecraft and while this isn't the last duplication bug to ever exist the last step that we'll be showing this video is from Minecraft release one point 8.3 where players could use pause buffering to pick up items and leave the game before they've officially entered your inventory and then you would just re-enter the game having picked up the items that you duplicated before your very eyes the method was simple enough but when combining it with a bed and a place of death very close to the bed you could actually duplicate your entire inventory all at once this method is based heavily on listening for audio cues that items have entered your inventory after pausing the game which can take several tries the timing can be quite difficult to get the hang of in the beginning but it's certainly doable and it's easy to try again and you know what just because this specific duplication glitch is so easy to show off live I'm gonna go ahead and I'm gonna do that and show it off live so alright I've went ahead and minecraft release one point eight point three and prepared a world in order to test out this duplication glitch now this specific version of the glitch is actually really to replicate and it's really easy to set up all you need to do is you need to place down a bed that has all blocks on all sides surrounded with the exception of just one area in which case I've chosen the foot of the bed itself then you need to go ahead and you need to sleep in the bed in order to set your spawn point and as you can see when I come up from the bed here I'm going to be at the foot of the bed this is my respawn point so from this point I'm gonna go ahead and I'm going to cover up the area right above the bed because when I die my items are gonna explode all over the place and you sort of wanna you know make the area that they explode as small as possible so I'm also going to cover in the area right there and now what I'm gonna do is I'm just gonna go ahead and I'm going to end my life here and then you will see that the items will get duplicated assuming that I get the timing right so the first thing and then the second thing I'm gonna go ahead and I'm a respawn really quickly look down and hit my Escape key so yeah I basically just respawned before the items themselves could get picked up now what I'm gonna do is I'm going to double tap my Escape key and hopefully if I do this right one of two things will probably happen one you'll see the items enter my inventory but you won't hear a noise or two the noise will be very very delayed and I definitely know it'll work if the noise is very delayed so let's go ahead and let's give this a try here so that may have worked the sound wasn't too too delayed so let's go ahead and let's uh reopen our world here and actually it didn't work so just for the sake of time I'm gonna go ahead and I'm going to type in slash kill and then hit respawn and then I'm gonna go ahead and I'm gonna try it a few more times so okay that time there I very clearly did not have the timing I was just not pausing in time so that definitely worked by the time my inventory opened the noise had not actually played yet but now if I go ahead and I save and quit the world here and I go ahead and I go back into the world you will see that now I have two of every single item in my inventory and if I go ahead and I repeat this process I'll then have four and eight 16 32 64 and then you know two stacks four stacks eight stacks etc so let's go ahead and let's just do this one more time just to show you guys that this really does work and it does you know sort of double the amount of items you have every single time so lets respawn so that one may have worked i think the sound was a little bit delayed there but I'm not overly sure if that one wound up working let's go ahead and let's go back in and it did so now I have four of every single item in my inventory and at least in this version of Minecraft you could do this just in two forever and you would get as many items as you wanted so again just a reminder if you guys want to discuss this video or any other video that I release on my public
