The Last of Us - 1x1 - Episode 1 Reaction - When You're Lost in the Darkness

foreign [Music] what's up guys welcome back to the channel Madison and Christian here today we're very very excited to get into the live action adaptation of The Last of Us uh starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey from Game of Thrones a show we love very much and I believe they also got the director from the Chernobyl series on HBO to direct for this series as well so there's definitely a lot of great creative minds and actors involved in this show which has our expectations very high even though it is a video game adaptation which as you guys know doesn't always bode well right but so far all the early reviews for this show have been overwhelmingly positive it's even sitting in the high 90s right now on Rotten Tomatoes so we definitely have our hopes high for this show I do have to mention that I have played through the video game at least two or three times already Madison has even sat there and watched me play through it so we do know most of like the major plot points that are going to happen uh however it's been a long time since we play it like literally five or six years I would have to guess so I'm sure we've forgotten some stuff since then that will still be surprising not to mention from our point of view it'll be cool to see what has been kept the same from the game and what they've changed for the show you know so with all that being said I think we're a fungus that infects insects yes yep who travels through it and it controls them placing the ants flesh with its own but it doesn't let its victim die no it it keeps its puppet Alive by preventing decomposition God that's wild what if for instance the world was to get slightly warmer wow now there is reason to evolve oh damn any one of them could become capable of borrowing into our brains and taking control not of millions of us but billions damn he called it way in advance damn we're [ __ ] we lose we'll be back cut to commercial yeah he's like yeah we're gonna need some commercials foreign damn now that's that's kind of scared me a little bit he made that seem possible Right oh oh that's them that's them damn that's 20 years ago already [ __ ] I know I don't want to think about right oh that's probably why they brought it back to the house my kids oh God that's kind of what I like about Joel he's not really a hero he's he'll do whatever to survive you know I don't think I would stop either and I want to be a dick but like I'm scared damn look at this oh my God chaos not good it's good for them that's the highway we're trying to get to head north could be a lot of people okay damn they're stuck Mexico great gotta be everywhere though like the entire world not just their City oh my God they're flying so low why are they so low this is insane this is so crazy it's exactly like the game this is blowing my mind [Music] the way that people are running away from they're just trying to cut through oh Alleyways yeah [Music] oh all these extras holy [ __ ] look this is literally my nightmare God run oh [ __ ] oh I hate the way they made them look I want to say they're way scarier in the show than they were in the game just really going for it yeah word is terrifying me holy [ __ ] oh I know he had some bruises after that oh my God first don't go back for him okay they probably have orders to just kill people out yeah to try to stop the spread I'm sorry please stop Tommy sorry I know I know I know I know it hurts oh I know I know I know I know I know me he knows she's gonna die you can't leave her oh my god dude [Music] even when you like know what's gonna happen it doesn't make it any easier I think this was worse God Petro Pascal's actually is just incredible and her too and her yeah oh wow Boston holy [ __ ] that's where people live in that walled area like [ __ ] Attack on Titan or something oh this poor little kid has known nothing but this how did this little kid make it all the way through by himself oh they tell you how long you have yeah so the further away it is from your brain the longer the longer you have right here uh oh he's infected infected you're safe is that really medicine I don't know because I saw that his things had Ren yeah maybe she just told him what he wanted to hear to keep him calm right throw him in this fire because I think the infected will release spores which will infect other people so you have to burn them oh it's a little boy it is him so they like euthanized him yeah that's what I thought oh they're covering up the Firefly [ __ ] yeah [Music] they're gonna publicly execute these people what you're short five cigarettes cigarettes damn it's like [ __ ] prison jeez yeah supposedly only makes two things pills and bullets bullets and pills the more Eastern people the harder it is to sleep I guess so the world's gone to [ __ ] but they still have pills being made yeah our guys got shot this morning bosses guys God damn what a life that's terrifying what about your guy because when he sees you I mean put yourself in my shoes he answers to me so I give you my word that [ __ ] won't hurt you are they talking about Joel so are we good oh what what the [ __ ] I don't remember something I held him back I have some questions are these the fireflies yes former guy in the radio tower in Salem is this real I believe it is whatever it takes we'll get her where she needs to go so she got the other two out of the room so that she could level with her yeah be like this is why we have her locked up if you're feeling lost so he was gonna say that damn we can take the subway tunnel under he won't get to the building from below and take Robert by surprise let's go wow they're really getting through like the first couple levels of the game I know yeah that's what I was thinking too that anxious to be a soldier do you think I chose that place they put me there when I was a baby it's for Orphans they didn't want you there United oh she like stashed her there to pick her up later he's safest and you were safe there until you decided to sneak out a terrorist she offended her oh Riley what I'm about to tell you cannot be related if you do I assure you will die oh my God I'd be like I don't want to hear it then are we gonna see Joel like crafting stuff oh yeah damn they don't have anybody blocking watching yeah like watching this I guess they're just assuming they're that must be crazy for her she almost got caught right away oh that scared me I thought that was a spotlight on them foreign oh I think it's his homeboy oh it is yeah oh no oh no hers is gonna be red everything off of this run they're gonna have to kill him oh she didn't even let him foreign oh God oh no oh damn she's watching this oh I feel so bad for him [ __ ] ing kill me damn he [ __ ] killed that dude with his hand yeah I know is that an 80s song I guess it is yeah yeah I was gonna say I'm not familiar with it sounds 80s [Music] oh look at that so there's gonna be trouble damn the city's like that building is sideways wow that's definitely 80s yeah so that means trouble yep does that mean Tommy's in trouble or who who was over the radio I don't know I guess they kind of watch the area and if there's a lot of infected or something then oh because they do errands out like they didn't uh send him a message like secretly true well guys as far as adaptations go I think this first episode was fantastic I noticed a ton of sequences and scenes even dialogue pulled directly from the game so for people who have played it it was really cool to kind of pick up on those things now if you haven't played the game spoiler warning I'm gonna get into some stuff um so I'll give you like a couple more seconds to click away if you need to I did notice that there were some stuff that was changed uh for instance I believe the dude Robert I think who sold their um their battery their car battery I think there's a level in the game where they actually kind of shoot their way to him and they're the ones that end up killing him but in the show they showed up and he was just dead yeah um by the fireflies I think yeah yeah now the last difference I did notice I believe in the game they do uh run into a soldier who's just like pissing on the wall or something much like the end of the episode right but I don't think uh Joel had any personal relationship with him like in the show he was like selling stuff to him on the side I thought that was really clever to kind of add that Dynamic to that part because it just shows even more that Joel's willing to do whatever it takes to survive even killing somebody who he knew and had a like a business relationship with on the side yeah and literally beat him to death yeah yeah so that was pretty crazy it does add a little bit more depth and a little bit more sadness to it like you can tell he will really do whatever it needs to to get out of here and get to Tommy essentially yeah and I think like you even said he kind of had a PTSD moment where he kind of had a flashback to what happened with him and his daughter yeah and so it seemed like this time he was not about to let that happen you know he took control yeah and then Ellie watched the whole thing unfold and we know when she grows up she's pretty damn ruthless and I think moments like that are what shaped her to be that ruthless know yeah I think and also we did hear um Tess even say about the 19 year olds everybody born after the pandemic they don't know how to argue they only know how to fight yeah and that's essentially because all they've ever seen is people brutally attacking other people just to survive because you know your survival instincts kick in you're gonna do whatever it takes um so it's not just Ellie you can tell like the world is a lot like an entire generation is being shaped by this so it was pretty crazy um now speaking of Ellie it was really cool seeing her like live action because I felt like the casting was really good and the actress did a fantastic job um being a little ruthless [ __ ] kid for a little bit so I'm really excited to see the relationship between Joel and Ellie you know progress now I do want to mention really quick that the sequence with with when everything popped off at the beginning when it was like day one you know when his daughter was still alive and stuff that stuff was incredible some of the most incredible camera work and just incredible sequence all around everything pulled directly from the game too some of like the camera angles and stuff like seeing from um Sarah's point of view in the back of the truck like yeah a bunch of that was pulled directly from the game which I loved and that part of the game was very terrifying and just very like gut-wrenching it was horrible and seeing it live action was even worse now there's some parts of the game um that I'm sure are going to come up in the show that I cannot wait to see so after seeing that sequence I just cannot wait even more for the sequences to come you know I know it really goes to show how much time effort and attention to detail they really put into this show and it just has me so excited for the rest of it
