bella for 15 off i'll leave the link in the description down below and let's go ahead and get into today's case on the 4th of may 1982 peter astin and terry ryan who were both 13 years old at the time met up at around 8 30 a.m to skip school together they'd met not long before at kingston state school and they lived near each other in marsden as well and just became really good friends peter was this tall lanky kid and he suffered from myopia which is nearsightedness so basically he had to wear these really thick glasses and i guess as a result because kids are mean he got bullied quite a bit and so he and terry spent a lot of time skipping school even shoplifting from department stores anyway peter was planning on hitchhiking from marsden to melbourne and terry was going to accompany him just up until gold coast and then once they got to gold coast he was going to turn around while peter continued on to melbourne to visit his older brother after they met up at about 8 30 that morning they went to a nearby lake and played on the swing set there until about 10 30 am then at 10 30 a.m they went to kingston railway station and caught the train to brunswick station which is in brisbane city they went into the maya in the city stole some shoes jeans and shirts and then they went back to the train and caught it to woodridge where they went to a kmart and stole some cigarettes they then caught the train further toward the gold coast to bean lee where they went into coles and got a jacket each and by this point it was early afternoon and the boys started walking down the gold coast highway to start hitchhiking as they were walking down the highway they came across this guy who was pulled over on the side of the road and it looked like he was trying to fix up his yellow four-wheel drive he had the bonnet open and he was like a young looking guy maybe in his late teens and there was another older looking guy who looked like he was probably in his 30s sitting inside the car and the two boys went up to him they were like you know can we get a lift to the gold coast and this guy was like well i just finished fixing up my car so no worries he told peter to get into the front passenger seat and told terry to get into the backseat as soon as they took off the older man who was sitting in the backseat with terry put a double barrel shotgun to his head and told him that if he moved he'd chewed him after a short drive they pulled off on the side of the road and pulled out some handcuffs and they handcuffed peter's hands to the front seat so like kind of behind his head and they handcuffed terry's hands in front of him they drove off again they told the boys that they were police and during the drive if ever the boys would ask a question or talk or make a noise they would hit them and tell them that it was none of their business and that they weren't allowed to tour both men began punching peter as they drove and the younger man in the front seat who was driving even hit him in the jaw with the barrel of the shotgun they drove the boy 60 kilometers away over the new south wales border into the town of king's cliff where they drove down a secluded track that they seemed to know well they even told the boys that they knew the area well as they committed similar offences in the area and had actually let their victims go when they parked the car on the secluded area they first got peter out and they put these thumb cuffs around his toes and if you guys have never heard of thumb cuffs like i hadn't i'll put a picture on the screen right now but they look crazy uncomfortable and they were teasing him and joking about the fact that he couldn't get away they went back to the car they pulled terry out and then they kicked him really hard in the groin with steel-capped boots which he just fell to the ground in pain and he was there for a while just unable to even speak because of the pain and while he was on the ground the men focus their attention back to peter now the next part of this is pretty graphic so if you do want to skip it i'll leave a time stamp on the screen honestly it's so horrific what peter had to endure in his last moments alive it is truly such a devastating case and it's just unfathomable that there are people out there who get enjoyment out of doing this sort of thing they so they stripped his clothes off like rich virtually just ripped his clothes off his back and uh at least over half of the clothing was shut down his throat they used his shirt to tie their keg why they were doing this they then took it in turns of stabbing him peter was in the middle and i was rubbing at the of the front paul was at the back made his talking turns stabbing him they beat him they sexually assaulted him they molested him they burnt him with cigarettes they hit him in the jaw with the rifle so hard that the rifle actually broke into two pieces they had an aerosol can with them which they'd put a match in front of and light it to use it like a mini blow torch on peter they used a leather punch to punch multiple holes in his ears and they slit his throat and they stabbed him through his head they basically just inflicted an insane amount of pain onto peter as much as they possibly could without killing him so that he would have to stay alive and endure everything that they did to him these men made terry suck peter's genitals they made him eat peter's pubic hair and the older of the two men actually cut off some of peter's pubic hairs and stuffed them down his throat despite everything that he had gone through peter actually managed to get the toe cuffs off he managed to start running away but the younger of the two men caught up to him put the toe cuffs back on and told him let's see if he can run away now somehow once again pena managed to get the toe cuffs off he started running and screaming for help but the older of the two men went into his car got out of shovel and started beating him in the head with the shuffle they then made terry hit his friend in the head with the shovel and terry said that he tried to do this as lightly as he possibly could and afterward you know terry was terrified he was just trying to think of what he could do to stay alive so that he could walk away from this and report these men for everything that they had done so he actually asked them like hey can i join you and you know tried to get on their good side a little bit and the men were like well how can we trust you and terry was like well you saw me hit him on the head with a shovel didn't you the two men actually ended up accepting and they were like okay well you can go and dig your friend's grave and the older of the two men took him away to find a place to dig this grave and took his handcuffs off so that he could dig the first place they tried to dig had too many roots so they decided to go back to where peter and the younger men were and dig the grave there and when they got back the younger of the two men was actually doing his fly up while peter was just lying on the ground the two men then made terry dig the grave near where peter's body was they put peter in the ground and started burying him alive peter was still gurgling and making noises as they buried him honestly just horrific for both peter and terry i can't imagine the pain and suffering that peter had to go through and i can't imagine how much that would emotionally scar you especially at 13 years old to see that happen to your friend after burying peter alive the two men got back in the car with terry and they were going to drive back through the gold coast back to brisbane and on the way they stopped at a place called faux park just to dispose of any evidence they had left like the rest of peter's clothing for example and they also used the toilet at the park to wash any blood off themselves and then when they got back in the car they asked terry where he lived so that they could drop him home and terry you know he was terrified he wasn't thinking clearly he was in a state of shock and he just couldn't think of another address to give them so he gave them the address of his family home in marsden and they drove him all the way back there and just before they dropped him off they got out of the car they gave him a handshake and they told him don't tell anyone about what happened or the same thing will happen to you and then they drove off and terry ran into his home and he told his mother everything i remember waking up and my brother bashing on the all gone um he is getting off tap something happened and uh my mum my mum and dad come out and they're going what's wrong what's wrong and um oh my mate's been murdered or something's happened by the time he finished telling his mother bolita what had happened it was the early hours of the 5th of may and she immediately rushed him down to the beanley police station so that he could tell them everything that had happened and make a report by 4 45 am after terry had given a statement detectives from the beanley police station drove terry and his mother down to the tweed heads police station where they were met by senior constable mark ferguson terry again relayed how he and peter were abducted at gunpoint driven over the new south wales border into kings cliff and his friend peter was sexually molested tortured and murdered now first police were a little bit skeptical of the story because it was a crazy story and they were also like why would they kill him and not you and why would they let you see everything witness everything see their faces and then just let you go and terry had blood all over him he had two black eyes and police thought that maybe he was like making a cover story so that peter could get away because you know he was planning to hitchhike to melbourne which i don't believe his parents knew about and you know maybe he had something to do with it maybe he and peter had gotten in a fight or something but police drove him to faux park where they checked the bathrooms the cubicles the walls in the bathrooms and they also checked the bins in the park they then drove to king's cliff where he told detectives that he and peter had been taken by these two men now the place that peter and terry had been taken was quite a popular fishing spot so there were quite a few little like you know sandy tracks for cars to drive down and peter took them to one of these tracks he was like this is it this is the track we drove down police had a look around there was nothing no evidence no blood spatter no you know shallow grave nothing so peter takes him to another track he's like this is the one and again the same thing happened there was no evidence that anything had happened there and this happened four times four different tracks terry took them to him was like this is the one and there was no evidence so police started to get a little bit frustrated a little bit skeptical i guess so police started to put a little bit of pressure on terry and terry started getting really frustrated he got really agitated because he could tell that they didn't believe him and it would have been frustrating for him as well thinking that these were the correct tracks and then none of them turning out to be the right place but based on his reaction police could tell that he wasn't lying so they decided to check out another track there were fresh tire marks on this track and terry started to get really worked up he was like this is it this is the one i know for sure they walked about 200 meters down this track where it opened up into a big clearing that was surrounded by bushland and in this clearing is where the tire tracks stopped and terry pointed into the bushland and he said in there that's where the grave is so the detectives enter the bushland and you know it's still dark by this point it's still really early hours of the morning and they're just looking around with the light of their torches and even with only the light of their torches they clearly see this big dirt mound it's a grave-sized mound with some little shrubs on top and detective ferguson walked over and he said immediately he saw this massive patch of blood that was still wet and it just goes to show how much peter had been bleeding to the point where the blood had actually soaked up through to the top of the sand as terry approached and saw the grave he immediately ran back into his mother's arms and started sobbing and i think that's really when it hit him the gravity of everything that had happened just hit him near the grave detectives found a knife in a sheath a sock and chewed up matchsticks and immediately they contacted the forensic examiner team as well as the criminal investigation team from northern rivers to come and examine the scene when examiners remove 13 year old peter's naked body from the grave they find that almost every inch of his body has been defiled i'm going to talk about the results from the postmortem exam now so i will leave a time stamp on the screen if this is something you want to skip peter had been stabbed more than 30 times during his ordeal he had multiple lacerations to the top of his head parts of his hair had been cut he had a deep cut to the back of his head and bruising to the left side of his head he had a depressed fracture to his skull with underlying brain damage there were leather punch marks and bruising to his ears and lacerations to the front and back of his ears there was bruising to his mouth lips and chin and lacerations to his right eye area and cheek he had a partial dislocation between his second and third cervical vertebrae and fractures to his vertebrae there was a large stab wound to the right of his throat and the internal jugular vein and external arteries had been severed there were cigarette burns to the front of his chest more stab wounds to his left shoulder his abdomen both his legs knees even under his toes he had severe bruising to his left wrist his buttocks his scrotum and his penis and he also had hair missing from his pubic area there were shallow lacerations over his loin and flank on top of all of this he had 15 more lacerations on his body and 14 more types of abrasions and bruises sand was found in his nose mouth trachea and bronchial tract caused by the two men shoving it down his throat and from inhaling it when he was buried alive dr john folland who performed the post-mortem exam said that peter's cause of death was likely asphyxiation from being buried alive after the discovery of peter's body and terry had time to recover from the initial shock he sat down with detectives and told them everything that had happened and it was then that he was able to give police some really vital information he told them that the car the men had been driving was a yellow four-wheel drive day hatsu and he was also able to tell them that the two men's names were bob and paul because he'd heard them calling each other by name he said that paul was much younger than bob but bob was the one who drove and he was able to give pretty good descriptions of these guys as well he said they were both dressed pretty casually in jeans and jumpers and he also took police back to the places that the men had stopped on the way home to dispose of the weapons and the clothes and that sort of thing after the murders on the drive back to brisbane the men stopped at griffith street in coolangata to get some food and it was there that they threw peter's glasses in a bin they threw peter's hat off a bridge on the gold coast highway as i mentioned they stopped at faux park in tweed heads where they disposed of peter's shirt and sock but that bin had actually been collected that morning so police had to go to scott's island council tip where they spent six to seven hours sorting through 25 000 tons of rubbish to find the shirt and sock which thankfully they did manage to find the men had also disposed of the shovel and the rifle which they had pulled apart into pieces in bushland in mount cuthur which police were able to recover as well so police were now on the hunt for these guys named paul and bob and a yellow four-wheel drive daihatsu and they appealed to the public for any information releasing the description of the car and the description and names of the two men the very next day police received a phone call saying that they believed the two men they were looking for were soldiers at the inaugural army camp they were 34 year old robin reed and 17 year old paul luckman and they matched the physical descriptions of the suspects that police had released and their car also matched the description of the car the police were looking for so detectives went down to the inaugural army base and went to their dorm and inside their dorm they found over 30 knives they found scalpels swords books filled with males in bondage positions they found books on satanism bondage masochism and even a book called the devil's bible they also found a photo album and this photo album was just filled with hair samples and next to the hair samples it would have a name and then it would say something like pubic underarm or groin police also found a notebook in the room in which one of the men wrote essays about taking a young boy down a dirt track at knife point holding him in a headlock with a knife at his neck and undressing him now reed who was a corporal and luckman who was a recent recruit had actually left before detectives arrived and they were told by the commander there that another soldier named robert ponzetti and his car a holden sun bird were also missing so police circulated that information and a description of the car that was missing and by this point you know police weren't sure if maybe all three men were somehow involved or this third soldier was just helping them get away but very shortly after this private robert ponzeni actually showed up at the tenterfield police station he said he was abducted by two men at knifepoint and that those two men had told him that they were the ones who abducted and killed that boy at king's cliff a couple of days ago so robert told police that what had happened was in the very early hours of the 6th of may so just over 24 hours after peter's murder reed and luckman had come into his room and woken him up and reed was like clutching out his stomach he didn't look very good and they told him that he was suffering about a food poisoning and they asked robert if he could drive them to a hospital off the army base which robert said no worries they went to the car robert got in the front driver's seat reed got in the front passenger seat and luckman got in the backseat and as soon as they got in luckman pulled out a knife and put it to robert's throat reed who had apparently made a speedy recovery from his food poisoning got out some handcuffs and handcuffed robert's hands together they then forced him out of the front seat and into the back seat and they went to their yellow full drive daihatsu and they got some bits and bobs out of there so obviously some things that they still needed to dispose of from the murder and they brought them back and put them in the trunk of the holden sunburn they then got back in the car and reed drove and about 15 minutes into the drive they told him hey that kid that um got murdered down at king's cliff that was actually us and we just did it for kicks they drove towards tenderfield and they told robert that they were going to drop him off and they told him not to do what terry did not to go to the police and tell the police what had happened robert agreed not to say anything he said that he was going to throw the police off tell them that two like 22 year old blonde dudes had stolen his car and these guys believed him they dropped him off at tennerfield and robert went straight to the police and told them everything that had happened the real story not that two 20 year old blonde dudes had stolen his car at midday that same day police got a call saying they'd seen the blue holden sunbird driving down the new england highway towards deep water so police set up a roadblock about 500 metres north of deepwater and reed and luckman were stopped at this roadblock and arrested and taken to the glen innes police station to be interviewed robin reed was born in the uk on the 20th of october in 1948 to a good working class family his family immigrated to australia on the 16th of november in 1961 and settled in queensland and when reed was 14 years old he left school and got objects like panel beating spray painting working as a laborer and a salesman before eventually joining the army in 1972. up until these crimes he had no criminal record there was nothing to ever bring him to the attention of police he was considered very smart and had a very high iq during his interview he was described as cocky but easy to interview when explaining what had happened to police he would say things like oh there were voices in my head and the voices were telling me to do it and police believe this was him trying to set up the basis for an insanity defense later on he also mostly tried to blame all of it on luckman you know luckman was the instigator blah blah blah and then at the end of the interview he pointed to a pen on the desk and he said to the interviewing officer you know i could kill you really easily with that pen right and the interviewing officer is like okay how and he said that within a matter of seconds he could kill him by picking that pen up and jamming it in through his ear into his brain paul luckman didn't have the best upbringing he was born in melbourne on the 1st of november in 1964 into a broken home where he had little to no relationship with his parents or stepparents he didn't meet his mother until he was 13 having been raised by his father and stepmother up until that point his mother was an alcoholic and lived with another violent alcoholic who physically abused her when he was 16 he left school and went on the doll and began prostituting himself out to other men in order to make a living he also started cross-dressing from a young age when he was 17 he joined the army in an attempt to get some guidance in his life and three months after joining he was transferred from melvin to the inaugural army base where he met robin reed reed was a corporal adonogra and was in charge of allocating a combination of new recruits and he arranged for luckman to move in with him reed had a passion for weapons violence sexual torture fantasies and satanism and luckman was enticed and the pair bonded pretty quickly and became pretty much inseparable anyway during luckman's interview he pretty much tried to pin the whole thing on reed said that he was innocent an innocent bystander and that reid was the instigator and it was all him despite the fact that there was evidence to suggest that he had actually inflicted more brutal injuries than reed had after their interviews another soldier named peter hoskin actually came forward and said that on the 18th of april he had met up with a reed and luckman and over a few beers they started chatting and somehow the conversation got into abduction and torture allegedly reed said that he would like to kidnap some kids and torture and sacrifice them on a stone altar he apparently said he wouldn't want to kill them straight away he'd want to inflict a ton of torture and then he would bury their bodies in a shallow grave in bushland where they wouldn't be discovered for up to 20 years which is oddly specific he also apparently got out a medical book and got like a diagram of a human body i suppose and was showing them like where he would cut his victims and he said that cutting and burning them with cigarettes would be the most effective method of torture without killing them and then he put luckman in a headlock produced two knives and showed them his technique and then just casually after that as if nothing happened they all went to the movies together it was also revealed that just two days before peter aston's mata reed and luckman picked up a man named john bruce at a gold coast nightclub i'm going to read you a quote now of what reid said when asked why they didn't kill bruce i still had control of my reality and emotions in relation to jon we still had to abduct him and i thought we would terrorize him we set out to kill john bruce but i couldn't and we let him go when we came to peter aston it was getting stronger lack of sleep other things were building up within me the fantasies had got me at this stage but there was no feeling no satisfaction or feeling in me when i set out to kill peter so reed and luckman were taken under heavy guard and they were walked down to the town's courthouse which was only about 70 meters away and it was here that they were charged with the murder of peter aston and the abduction of john bruce they were then taken back to the glen innes police station and locked up there for the night and the very next day they were taken to king's cliff where they described in detail what happened the day of peter aston's murder reed was super chatty during this he was smiling he seemed really excited and happy about the 15 minutes of fame that he was getting for the mata and there was actually an infamous photo taken of him where he's sitting on a pile of sand that was used to bury peter aston and he's just sitting there smiling they spent about three to five days doing this retracing every step from before dream and after the matter and they recovered the rifle the shovel the knives and a bunch of other evidence that had been dumped the trial for the two men began on the 8th of november in 1982 luckman pled not guilty and reed pled not guilty by reason of insanity neither of the men showed any emotion or remorse at the trial the judge on the trial actually decided against showing any photos of peter astian and his injuries because they were just too horrific for the jury to see and he felt like they would carry that with them for the rest of their lives on the 26th of november in 1982 both men were found guilty and sentenced to life in prison the sentencing judge mr justice rhoden said that their crime was the most brutal and sadistic crime he had ever seen in the state in prison paul luckman sold favors to other inmates in exchange for money and other favors like cigarettes and drugs in 1989 luckman began a hormone treatment after a psychiatrist said that he was more of a woman than a man and then in 1990 she had a full sex change operation and changed her name by dipole to nicole louise pierce on the 20th of october in 1993 she had her sentence redetermined to a maximum of 24 years and a minimum of 16 years and then in 1999 she was released from prison which is just crazy to me you know after the trial everyone just assumed that they would be in prison for the rest of their lives for the sadistic and horrific torture of a 13 year old boy and not only that but they scarred terry ryan for life i just cannot even imagine what seeing that at 13 years old would do to you and not only that but they scarred terry ryan for life i cannot even imagine what that would do to you seeing your friend tortured in such a horrific way and murdered in such a horrific way at 13 years old he had a really hard time after the murder as i'm sure you can imagine he was bullied and taunted at school he was assaulted and spit on he had to attend the wilson hospital of psychiatric assessment and has been in and out of jail for a few different offences such as assault and car theft and he did deal with alcohol and drug abuse his mother also said he still suffers from flashbacks and nightmares robin reed is still currently in jail in 1998 he applied for a redetermination of his sentence and was re-sentenced to life in prison with a non-parole period of 24 years making him a legible for parole in 2006. he's applied for parole numerous times since then even as early as this year but thankfully he has been denied every single time terry ryan his family and multiple detectives have all spoken out against reed getting parole saying they fear for their own lives if he's ever released and fear that he will kill again but that is all of the information that i have for this case it is probably one of the most horrific that i've ever done and my heart really goes out to terry ryan his family peter aston's family i just can't even imagine what any of them had to go through what terry had to go through seeing that what peter aston's family had to go through knowing what happened to their son at just 13 years old it's horrific and i think it's terrible that one of his killers is out free and the other one is just illegible for parole i mean all we can do is hope that he is never released from prison but as always i would love to discuss your thoughts in the comments down below i hope you guys have a wonderful rest of your day and hopefully i'll see you in my next video bye guys
