make the gigantic explosion of an atomic bomb the deadliest weapon known to man but atomic energy can also be used for peaceful purposes for example nuclear power plants use this energy to produce electricity and hot water and nuclear-powered icebreakers can break through the thick arctic ice so ships can sail on their way [Music] they're all done no look bring them in and now we're gonna teach that one ant can lift up 50 ants its own size and an elephant it can't even hold up one so it turns out that for its size an ant is much stronger than an elephant and the same goes for fixies fixies are incredibly strong for their size they can lift things that are a hundred times heavier than they are and fixies can jump 50 times higher than their own height if humans were as strong as fixies are they'd be able to lift an automobile all by themselves [Music] yeah tom thomas it's time you built up your strength well how start lifting dumbbells or if you want to you can use my barbell no weight all you need to do is get the short arm of the lever under the load and push down on the long arm and the longer the arm the more weight you can lift and that's how a lever makes people caterpillar can look like a twig and the seahorse can look like a piece of coral an ordinary gray rabbit becomes white in the winter so a wolf will have trouble finding it in the snow but the champion of camouflage is the chameleon this master of disguise can change its color in just a matter of seconds hey tom thomas where's your chameleon go oh it disappeared it didn't disappear it camouflaged he bright happy pictures and people just love to put on masquerade parties where they disguise themselves in costumes and masks and of course fixies have their own great disguise remember well what is it through headphones but both of these devices use a special membrane to do their job the membrane inside of a microphone is used to capture sound that is then sent through wires as an electrical signal and inside a pair of headphones a membrane helps turn that electrical signal back into sound so it turns out that a microphone and headphones are built in a very similar way even though they are used off with water but there are stains that are not that easy to get rid of stains from fruit need to be soaked in hot water first blood stains on the other hand should never be washed in hot water you can clean stains from paint or rust as well only for those you'll need to use a special stain remover but stain removers should only be used with the help of a parent or other adult that knows how to use them safely hey i know a great way to do it what do you use to get rid of pencil marks an eraser only this shirt is in paper and so what let's try it what's the heart [Music] now i've got three colors to get off no idea we should paint over it with this correction pen with white out [Music] that was a bad idea now i got it you have to use some water [Music] the washer would be better don't you think no you can't wash lights with colors and you've got a white shirt with colors all over it then how about if we try some more water how much more can you use any more ideas you know what it's possible we did something wrong everything you did was wrong you should have used a spot remover to clean off that stain a spot remover no way oh take a look at it i think it's marvelous they painted that white shirt so nicely [Music] tula is simka's best friend she's very tall almost as tall as papa's yeah she's the tallest one in her class and she's strong too tula loves to laugh and she does it louder than everybody that's just the way she is cheerful and kind ready to help anyone who needs it and making sure her friends are getting along of course i don't like that she treats me like a baby especially since she's the one that's a scaredy cat she can even get scared of a cute little spider and she believes in all sorts of silly superstitions and horoscopes julia will believe anything you tell her which is really great because it makes it so easy to play tricks on her but she takes it all in good fun that's because she's tulip he was on purpose wasn't it well yeah [Music] tom thomas no your mom will punch you for just one of them and now you're gonna make more stains don't worry nolik i forgot that this is an old shirt and i'm allowed to get it all dirty if i want and i tried so hard to clean it put another spot there and over here one in the middle and a line over there splendid that looks great and how about down there wow it's like fireworks blended there's a name for this style of painting and properly speaking it's an abstract painting they have lots of lines and spots and everyone sees whatever they want in them yeah look a golden ball by the river and there's tom card to open up the combination lock you need to enter a code in the correct order that means if you can't remember the code you can't open the lock but if the lock uses a key card there isn't any code to memorize because the code is held inside the card's memory and the lock can read the code from the card of course key cards don't work with any lock they have to be smart locks that are able laboratory to be tested from computers phones and furniture to food and toys professor eugenius uses his expertise to check the quality of all these different things to help him carry out his experiment his laboratory is filled with a variety of tools and machines yes professor eugenius is a very smart man but he can be absent-minded lucky for him he's got us pixies around thanks for everything sliding the key card under the door that was cinca's awesome idea but the door opened wide while the card was still on the floor that's strange there's nothing strange about it i don't want to open it i climbed in the lock that's all figured out how it worked and titty very clever that's a real tadish i guess that thinking before you go and fix something ought to be what we all study part of the catapult is a special piece of rope it is twisted very very tightly like a spring the rope is then wrapped around a big spoon and then if you pull the spoon back put a stone in it and let it go the catapult fires a shot and the stone flies far far away uh-huh all right so here we go ah came up short what do you mean short what are you aiming at you'll see spoon needs to go further back that i'll go find a helmet [Applause] the catapult was invented in ancient times but people still use them today only now instead of launching stones catapults are used to launch jet airplanes you see the runway on an aircraft carrier is quite short so catapults are used to help the planes move fast enough to take off catapults can also be used to save the life of a pilot when an airplane has an accident a catapult activates in the cabin the pilot is shot into the sky and comes back to the ground with a parachute a plain old slingshot is also a kind of catapult it's just a very little one but be careful with this toy it can be dangerous to others and to you too as for us fixies the only time that we use catapults is on a peaceful mission our nolan's getting shot to the moon with a catapult slow down the speed of the clock yeah but how he gotta know things like that since olden times many clocks run with the help of a pendulum the pendulum controls how fast the hands of the clock turn if you make it longer the pendulum will start to swing slower and the clock's hands will slow down if you make the pendulum shorter the clock will tick faster most clocks that are made today don't use pendulums they run with the help of springs or with an electronic chip instead but even so there are ways to change the speed of these clocks too [Music] wow you did it it's amazing how much slower it is that'll give you lots of time to play but now you got to slow down the clocks in the kitchen yeah and every other clock you got [Music] i just have to turn this to make the pendulum longer uh-huh different ways to measure time for example if you stand to stick in the ground you can measure the time of day by watching where its shadow falls that's a very simple clock called a sundial another simple and ancient clock is a water clock it keeps track of time by measuring how much water has poured out of it and if the clock uses sand instead of water it's called an hourglass but humans weren't able to accurately keep track of the time until they invented mechanical clocks they come in all sorts of sizes from grandfather clocks to watches ward around the wrist today we also have easy that's the reason the alarm went off set them up are you crazy tom thomas asked us hmm so what do we have to do now don't you know get to school it's time uh i'm joking go back to sleep don't worry i'll get all the clocks working right again can i go and fix them with you huh fix them you boys are the ones that always make the problems [Music] can you believe even when they're magnified it's hard to see their pictures they're tiny infinitesimal so small it makes you doubt but if you meet up they please [Music] the tin can well what else goes a flashlight [Music] it's good to have when makes canned food special it comes in a can [Music] the thing that's special about canned food is that it can get stored a long time without spoiling you see meat and vegetables spoil when harmful bacteria start multiplying inside of them so if you can get rid of the bad bacteria or stop them from getting into the food the food will last a long time that's why jars and cans are sealed very tightly this stops harmful bacteria and air from getting inside and spoiling the food so you're telling me that nolix not here right [Music] so it looks like he's really not here who is that where all right now i remember there's another can i should take with me there's something fishy happening here hey guys my mom threw this can out a long time ago but i hid it for later i knew i'd use it someday and who are you talking to when you said guys muah uh you're here and i'm here and that's two of us look at this great can i got there's nothing great about it put it down on the floor you see what oh it's crooked and so what so what it's all swollen and when it's like that you know that inside the can bad bacteria is growing and spoiling the food that's in there it went bad there's a way to check on every single can you can find the date it's good until sooner or later even canned food will go bad and of course dairy foods like yogurt or milk can spoil in just a few days when you buy food in the store it's very important to always check the expiration date the expiration date's the last day that it's safe to eat that food without worrying that it may have gone bad you can find the expiration date on each box jar or can of food so pay attention and be very careful not to buy or eat any food after its expiration date has passed and if you see that a can is swollen throw it away immediately if you eat it your belly can swell up too unfortunately when food spoils it's impossible to unspoil it and then even the fixies won't be able to help [Music] oh my mom probably saw that this can went bad over a year ago that's why she threw it into the trash right shame on you for picking it out of there you could have poisoned yourself and poisoned your dad as well yeah [Music] and the other cans are they swollen too they're fine goodbye then it's a shame i couldn't find nolic around here papa's wants to give him a brand new pack-a-mat as a present to me aha i gotcha i had a
