The Earliest We've Ever Hunted Rocks on Lake Superior

I don't know if I've ever hiked through snow to get to a beach but here we go I'm here with Sam and his girlfriend Nicole and uh we just went through some pretty treacherous roads to get here what if I get splashed if we're getting in for a second [Music] oh my goodness I'm happy I rolled up the window we survived so hopefully there's some good rocks in the beach today this is a blind sucker River there's some people fishing down there no snow on the beach I'm feeling good about this calm water so I am right in here checking out the rocks it's bright he's a Jasper by the looks of it a piece of unikite it's nice [Music] thank you [Applause] is that a naked or just quartz I guess and I saw this one that's pretty cool [Applause] here's an Omar omara luck get my spoon under it [Music] [Applause] I know water's icy cold so I'd rather not stick my fingers in there [Applause] oh that's interesting Sam what do you think of this one I think that might be an agate not a great one but yeah I'd say that's an agate mostly corks but for sure that's that's big yeah I wish it was like awesome but I'll take it these little spot that's a little redder right there yeah all righty one for the bucket hey It Caddy nice piece of Jasper it's a bright one stuck right out in there yeah they do soaked already we just got here [Applause] as soon as I found one in the water guess who got in the water but look what he found nice little guy some awesome bands in there hold it flat on your hand see if it focuses better yep that's a nice one mine's bigger but yours is nicer yeah what'd you do I found an egg my first one first one ever nice bright I like it well I found cold water agates but not now these are better than cold water agates good job cute little Omar there I like that one but it stays here pluck this piece of epidote out of the water look at all the cracks on that thing it's a mess interesting though my dream is to find one of these red rocks and roll it over and just have bands Galore someday [Music] some sort of a conglomerate down here I don't know if my spoon's strong enough to pick it up [Applause] it's a funky looking piece of Jasper the iron running through it or something I'm not sure never seen one like that that's interesting keeping that one I haven't decided yet might be cool to cut stuck my hand in ice water to pick this thing up so I guess I have to show it to you couldn't pick it up with a spoon don't know what that is but Sam plop this one down in front of me while I was showing them that one I think these are both our uh our mystery rocks but I like the end of that one that's really cool you can see there's some weak spots there that dark brown spot I can't point because both my hands are full but just to the left to the white it's undercutting really bad or it's differential weathering I guess you call it when it happens naturally when you cotton it happens on a tumble or you call it undercutting [Applause] I don't know if I can pick that up can you see that one [Applause] all right looks like there might be an egg seam on this one maybe yeah maybe not nice day out it was uh almost 50 when we got here it felt a little cold where we parked up in the woods but it's nicer here and the sun's just starting to come out so it's supposed to warm up quite a bit today I'm starting to get a reputation for liking stripy rocks I guess I better pick this one up because it's got quite the stripe [Applause] that is definitely stripy Sam just handed me this nice piece of unikite like that red and white on the end if you ask me what my favorite colors are pink would not make the list but for some reason I'm drawing a pink rocks that one's pretty cool Steve green rock down here under it nice rock got a small bucket right now Nicole is carrying it so I don't want to push my luck and put too many rocks in it [Applause] [Applause] thank you Sam just gave up on the water it's time for me to find another one [Applause] I don't know if it's an agate but there's something very bright down here and get it on my scooper I guess not but it sure is bright all right keep looking you're feeling very confident today I think we've beaten most Rock Hunters out here I'm sure it's been looked over here but we're pretty early to the game it's so bright red and I decided to pick it up because I don't know all right I think that's an egg it I think it's not real strong bands but I I'd call it an agate buffed out Sam's opinion he's so far yeah we'll catch up to him it's an interesting Rock almost has a little Moss Agony quality to it it's not saying that's what it is but I think I'll run it by Sam see what he thinks of that one [Applause] saw this one up here wanted to pick up there's some pitting on it that looks sort of agate-like I don't see anything there though okay I just heard excitement over here [Music] I mean you have no just one okay so the it's a beginner's Locker are you just better than us oh you can't talk about small rocks you used to be the same way Oh I thought you were gonna show it to me I'm gonna go chase it down oh there's my glasses I think that's magnetite don't you [Music] well I'm gonna pick up my glasses okay Sam doesn't think it's magnetite but it wasn't sure I'm gonna pull out a magnet we're gonna find out I think it's magnetite in these spots Nicole's here to see if it's a if it's magnetic oh yeah very magnetic but this part probably isn't that's fun all right so that's magnetite in these parts just came up on the beach because my wader strap kept falling down and I spotted that which I think is a little like it Maybe not maybe it's broken quartz get it wet I'm thinking quartz now found a little pink rock that we kind of like tell Sydney there's like little platelets in there or something the outside some quartz and I don't know what this is but it looks a little bit agony I don't think so a little bit on that side that might be an agate I don't know no real obvious bands but it's got some definite Agate pitting there I think maybe that is an agate something interesting down here [Applause] that's weird [Applause] interesting looking at how the beach looks after the ice melts off of it let's see there's still some snow underneath up here foreign [Applause] as far as Granite goes you in a kite you say you found crystals yeah geode pocket with some pretty big crystals actually this size pocket there are two big onesies on there it's cool what do you do with that one yeah okay so that a few minutes ago I've been carrying it along to show it to you and I'm gonna scoop this one out of the water because it looks Nifty oh it is Nifty half thought about bringing that one home it's not a nugget but it's pretty good some banded shirt that's cool it's not as good up here but this is a pretty good piece yeah that that'll that'll tumble nicely I like it you're gonna keep it yeah [Applause] something bad has happened here sand the dreaded Sandy Beach [Applause] it's a pretty little piece of magnetite I think that might actually be that might have been an egg it and it's all worn off you're just seeing the quartz in the middle I don't know what that is more interesting than I thought it was going to be I got Sam's attention what do you think magnetite almost like some sort of White Castle yeah the inside but I'm not sure what the outside was is that an egg at the wore away kind of looks like it may be a low quality Agate yeah maybe I don't know if you want it yeah I don't want it cheers if you want it drop it if you don't it's a weird little piece of driftwood it has gotten beautiful out here we're all in t-shirts now and I'm kind of hot even in a T-shirt now I keep finding funny little pieces of driftwood it's like the shape of some of these weird I don't see many like that up here no that's cool let me see the side again yeah that's neat seems kind of soft so I don't think it'll tumble but it's not fun to look and throw it in if you want we're throwing the lake okay we could bring that and leave it for somebody else let's do that I'm gonna retrieve it just found another piece of banded shirt let's get that one wet oh that's nice yeah foreign rocks actually looks pretty solid we got to get that one wet that's that's gonna look pretty cool it's pretty neat I think we should slab it maybe yeah bring it home I'll slab it thank you it's neat there's another banded iron formation that's pretty nice oh Sam just made a noise like oh I think that's floating in there and yeah maybe the best one of the day I saw it like like this weird stripe is like double Stripes interesting you just walk in the water with your boots again that's good you win I might be bigger than my biggest one so far yeah it's like you said it's a lot of quartz but it's really a really nice band there nice contrast on this floating part with it I guess almost smoky in the middle there one little line yeah that's a good one nice job just found a nice little piece of banded shirt or like a broken nodule of church with the fans in the middle yeah that's really cool how it really contrasts the outside and the inside there had enough it is [Applause] that's a pretty one I feel like I've had a day it is a day on the beach what are you talking about no not quite that much of a day in the beach it's a piece of fun sandstone I like that one this one had me fooled for a second from the distance but kind of like turret or calced me he's still tumble it though oh yeah that's worth tumbling that's going to Tumble up nice it's a pretty piece of magnetite down in the water here just picked up this little guy kind of interesting just different than what we usually find here not the most beautiful thing ever but interesting check out the size of that log Sam go over there for a scale that's a big log yeah you're doing a good job of being there for scale I just picked that up it was pretty sure it was an agate but I don't think it is and then pretty little piece of quartz yeah that's pretty oh I like that one that might be a keeper okay we got back to the bridge and Sam and Nicole walked up through the woods because she didn't have boots and Sam's already found that a little quartz ball Agate but yeah it's nugget and then there's this one oh that one's a little nicer a little bit nicer yeah wow some bands in there I've only found one it's the biggest one but I found one I'm happy of uh magnetite I haven't even looked at the one I have in my hand I just picked it out of the sand and I saw I think it's good oh it's very good it's a peeler I gotta get the this one wet oh look at the bands on that yeah flip it over I think it was peeling on that side a little bit right in there yeah you can see it's peeling look at that wow that's a really good one nice little one here I just heard Nicole say oh look I found something and I was disappointed to see that that's what she found he doesn't look happy with you better put him back it all seemed like mostly courts because it looks like that magnetite again on the bottom yeah it does I I didn't really know that magnetite and agate bands went together but maybe they do change would you find I found my biggest dagget yet um you're just kind of sitting on the edge of the water so pretty good find in my opinion it's very nice yeah I like the coloring best one yet best one yet well I don't know about best I found that little one while we were talking to that lady okay that one was pretty nice oh I like that one a lot stealing the show over here interesting it's not as nice as Nicole's egg it was oh I guess they're generally better the random rocks just looked really nice in the water looks pretty nice out of the water yeah I got some hits but I might tumble out tumble or cut I don't know that's a little little small for the saw but yeah white people get it in there if you decide to cut it yeah maybe this is fairly thick really nice color in there yeah one of the rocks that Sam and I call mystery rocks because we can never figure out exactly what it is but it's an above average one especially right in there back end it goes though tumbled a few of those and they're okay there's rocks I like better that's one of that mystery rock to find a lot but that's a good one that yeah I definitely take that one home yeah I just threw one back but I like that one better I just found what I thought was a water level I get for a minute and now I don't know what it is pretty pitted but I might try to Tumble it still just found a little agate got some Vans but they're not super sharp but they're really good color in the middle there good color oh jelly Agate I guess what you call it a little swirly bands I thought it was an agate for a second but I think it's a shirt not quite an agate but that's darn take it darn close to as nice as an agate that's a really good one did you find I just found this really cool piece of Jasper it's really bright um at first I picked it up and I was like oh maybe it's something like extra cool but it's just Jasper but very good Jasper though very good above average Jasper yeah I'll have Sam tumble it for me or something all right we might need to get you your own tumbler Barrel Maybe you said your mom has one at home yeah my mom has one at home she had two originally it was for my little brother I understand that yeah all right just sanding into a couple camera shy people but they have awesome agates my first one here oh wait that's there's the first one I'm in the I'm shadowing it that's really cool those are better than the ones we've found so far that's awesome did you pick them all up are there some left oh it is not Superior you never know what you're gonna find it right I got myself a bigger Agate than I have been finding you're just on a roll I really am there was no learning curve for you at all you just were good right off the bat I really was and you're not full of yourself or anything are you oh no why why would I ever be full of myself there's a pretty one it's kind of like that mystery rock and kind of like banded iron formation it looks really solid it's got a little heft to it too just found this interesting Rock it looks like these are like big old eyes or something and it looks like it's agitive on top but I don't know what's going on in the middle let's see the eyes again that's all I care about those are awesome yeah it's weird it's not very waxy but I think it's some sort of agate that's Agate those spots are Agate so it's something it is something I think we can agree on that foreign [Applause] [Applause] said we'd turn around at the big log so here we are at the big log this winter I found a pudding Stone and left it behind but showed everybody in my video where it was and that was a lot of fun so we're going to start a new segment in my videos I think I'm going to call it Stone stash unless I come up with something better but I'm going to stash a few stones and in this case a couple pieces of Driftwood so two pieces of driftwood black and white one whatever that is this cute little Omar this banded shirt that Sam found that and this uh green stripey one that's drying out so I'm going to show you exactly where these are and what I would like you to do is find them and preferably take a picture of yourself with them send it to me you can use my Instagram account you can find in the description and I will post it on my YouTube channel so take one take them all leave them all however you want to do it so I will show you in a minute exactly where I'm going to hide them all right I think I found a hiding spot I'm on this side of the river there is a burnt stump right here it's only burnt on this side and I'm going over to this funky looking one I got all the stuff in my hat it's going right in there all right so here it is that's the stump there's the river here's the burnt stump good luck all right Nicole that was your first day I get hunt yeah approximately how many agates did you find I don't know probably like uh eight probably okay I know you I know you I know you said you couldn't count and there were so many but I I know I did okay and you got up at what it's really hot right yeah it is really hot I didn't think I'd be complaining about that today all right uh we'll
