hey guys it's bella welcome back to my channel i hope you guys are all having a wonderful day today and i hope you're ready to get stuck into today's mystery monday because it is insane i mean i guess i say every case is insane so you'll just have to wait and see if you find it insane but you will because it is insane i actually saw a comment on one of my videos that was like every video bella says 1986 in upland california she grew up in a strict conservative home in ontario in california and she was very close with her parents they owned a manufacturing business and she also had a younger sister who is three years younger than her growing up michelle had a pretty normal life it was said that she never really had anything bad happen in her life she was described as a very nice person a very private person and a bit of a nerd she was also very athletic she was a track star in school and was offered a scholarship to dickinson college and she was also known to be very straightforward and she knew what she wanted in life she kind of orientated her life around work sometimes working up to 70 hours a week and she was known also as a bit of a goody two-shoes i guess she had never really been in any sort of trouble she didn't like parties she didn't like taking risks she didn't like being in the spotlight and she had no criminal record at 22 years old she married her high school sweetheart she'd never been in any other relationships but four years after they got married they actually divorced when michelle was 26 and then in 2013 she met ian diaz and he is 35 years old he's a us marshal and they hit it off right away michelle thought he was attentive sweet he was a hard worker who lived with his mom and it was a bit of a whirlwind romance ian told her he loved her on their second date and michelle said it just felt really normal and natural because he was older and more experienced maybe knew what he wanted by fall of 2014 they moved in together and by december of that year ian proposed to michelle in new york at the rockefeller center under the big tree and all of the beautiful christmas lights and michelle said yes she said she didn't feel like she was just in love with him she also felt like she was addicted to him unfortunately though after he felt like he locked her down he very quickly started to show his true colors he wanted her to look sexier to start wearing more crop tops more makeup even wanted her to pierce her belly button which i feel like even as an isolated incident that would be a red flag he also pressured her into quitting her job that she loved and pressuring her into taking another job at disneyland in a marketing position with a 20 000 pay cut from what her previous job was paying and he had also previously worked at disneyland so michelle kind of felt like he wanted her to take this job so that he could get his old colleagues to keep an eye on her and then he started trying to pressure her and having sex with other men while he watched which michelle was not into she did not want to do that and she actually threatened to break up with him if he didn't stop trying to pressure her into this but eventually valentine's day of 2015 she had been worn down he had been pressuring her into doing this for so long she'd taken a few cold medicine tablets and a few fireball shots and she gave in and she had sex with another man who she believed that ian had actually found on craigslist and ian filmed the whole thing and the next morning michelle was sick with regret she felt disgusted she felt ashamed and she asked ian to delete the video and he refused and he told her no one put a gun to your head which is disgusting of this man sure no one put a gun to her head but she loved you and you pressured her and pressured her and pressured her and pressured her until you wore her down oh i got so heated while researching this case honestly this guy anyway in summer of 2015 michelle and ian purchased a condo together in downtown anaheim and this condo was just under 470 thousand dollars and michelle put down the entire 14 400 down payment but put the mortgage in both of their names so despite the fact that she had put down the whole down payment with no help from ian the condo was in both of their names it didn't matter that she had put down that money and after buying the condo things only got worse for ian and michelle one time they were driving on the freeway and got into a fight and he pulled over on the freeway and told her to get out of his car and there was another occasion later on where she tried to leave him and he threw her on the bed held her down and she was trying to get out and was like screaming she was terrified and he would go on these like angry screaming tirades at her all the time and what's really sad is she would email her sister kind of telling her about some of these instances and would say am i crazy like she thought she was crazy because he i guess had gaslit her into thinking the way that he was treating her was probably her fault or something eventually she was like no i'm not crazy this is not right and so by the end of summer 2015 she left she packed up all of her stuff and she left she went and stayed with her parents while she got back on her feet and i mean petty till the bitter end this guy took the engagement ring back he accused michelle of cheating on him and despite the fact that she had moved out and had gone to live with her parents and he was still living in the condo without michelle she still had to pay half the mortgage because the mortgage was in both their names despite the fact that she had put down the full down payment by herself so they ended up getting into a year-long battle over the condo and things got pretty messy they got pretty heated michelle actually did end up sending some like threatening emails with some like weirdly biblical undertones i'll read you some of them this one was um sent on the 10th of september in 2015 it said you're in your body but your mind is somewhere else your sins are many including defiling me and my family with your wicked and evil sexual acts your financial coercion and irresponsibility your glutton your greed your lust your sloth your wrath your envy and most of all your pride i will bring the full force of the law and the word of god god the word of god the word of god against you to judge you another email she sent read please explain to your real estate attorney that god's law is above all laws including the law of man you may try to hide behind the law of man but it is a weak shield that will bend and crack against the sword of god and then another email read you know exactly how god the word of god the spirit of god are involved with the condo we both do your end will come and you will relinquish the keys to the earth earth is mine and the title deed to earth belongs to me there will be no resolution outside of court unless you are willing to bow before the lord your god if you are not then prepare yourself satan so let it be written so let it be done and look they were very strange emails very weirdly biblical but it seems like he had just pushed and pushed and pushed her until she couldn't take it anymore and she didn't know what else to do and you know despite her email she was still very afraid of ian to the point where you know because he was a us marshal she believed that he was using his law enforcement ties to actually have her followed she often saw an suv that looked just like ian's with no number plates kind of following her around she was concerned about the fact that he had a concealed carry permit and a firearm not just a firearm actually he had multiple firearms she reported him to her job and also to chapman university where she was an mba student and she actually already had a bachelor's degree in medieval studies which i thought was interesting but the university was good they barred him from the uni and they sent him an email to let him know that he was barred from the university and when he got this email he was not happy and so he tried to go and get a restraining order against michelle he tried to get a restraining order against her the audacity of this man he presented them when he was filing for the restraining order with her biblical emails he accused her of blackmailing him accused her of drinking away her problems accused her of saying i [ __ ] hate you during fights and insulting his manhood and his sexuality and he said when they did have a fight she would go and self-medicate by drinking an entire bottle of wine but the restraining order was not granted so i don't even think michelle knew about it at this point that he had tried to file one and then finally in january of 2016 they both agreed after hiring property lawyers to sort this dispute out they agreed that in six months time so in june 2016 ian would take over the condor he would take over the full mortgage and if he couldn't afford the repayments then they would sell it and split the money which kind of seems like michelle got the short end of the stick like does she not get her fourteen thousand four hundred dollars back she has to keep paying rent or mortgage for six months for a place she's not gonna live in like she's not gonna recoup that money unless they sell the property i don't know it just seems like a little bit unfair on her but also i feel like she was probably just like wanted to be done with the whole thing and so she was like sure let's do that as long as i don't have to deal with this guy again now after all of this was over ian moved on very quickly i mean he was right on the dating apps and by january 2016 like the dust hasn't even settled by this point but by january 2016 he met another woman named angela connell and by february 2016 they were married not just engaged but married one month after meeting and then by may angela was pregnant with twins and ian and angela were very excited to be parents but there was a little bit of a damper on their parade it seemed michelle had found out she was really jealous and so she started sending angela some threatening emails with the same kind of biblical undertones as the other emails she was sending i mean i don't even know if you could call them undertones like they are very biblical and religious so one of these emails read there are legends that adam had a wife before eve who was named lilith but this is not found in the bible the legends vary significantly but they all essentially agree that lilith left adam because she did not want to submit to him according to the legends lilith was an evil wicked woman who committed adultery with satan and produced a race of evil creatures and then she continues on in all capitals and says you are not perfect but you are the eve to him michelle was the truth his lilith but she and the other women would not submit to his controlling ways now the reason that these emails referred to michelle in third person saying like michelle was his lilith she was blah blah is because it actually came from a guy named jason rayburn and jason was actually angela's ex-boyfriend who we will talk more about later but angela knew that these emails were not coming from jason she knew they were from michelle and she was somehow sending them from jason's account like there was even one that said like ian doesn't love you michelle is his one true love which is like why would angela's boyfriend be saying that how does he even know who michelle is and i'm pretty sure the emails from him were even signed off like saying from michelle or at least one of them was which is kind of confusing but like pretty obvious that jason is not the one sending this and also michelle had like made about six different email accounts to continue to email angela so she just knew she knew these were from michelle and that jason wasn't somehow in on it angela replies to the email and she says michelle hadley like she responds to one from jason and kind of lets her know that she knows it's michelle so she replies michelle hadley i want you to stop contacting me and then four days later she gets a response from michelle and it says i hope you are scared of death tomorrow be prepared don't sleep be watchful of the daughters of god we will steal your children and we will watch as it dies he is using you for everything don't you see this he is obsessed with me i am his treasure princess you are nothing watch your back tomorrow damning email if you ask me and you know michelle would send angela emails threatening to have her raped and killed threatening to kill her like unborn children the twins that she was pregnant with she would attach images as well of like aborted fetuses women who were being beaten women who were being groped by men who had masks on women with black eyes women being strangled decapitated bodies just like really horrendous things and so angela went and filed a restraining order against michelle on the 1st of june and 2016. she said miss hadley has been emailing me for over one week repeatedly threatening my life my marriage my safety and slandering my husband miss hadley has used over six different email addresses to contact me despite a request to cease communication i'm now fearful of leaving my home have had to delete my online presence and i'm incredibly emotionally distressed i'm fearful of being raped attacked and killed i have had to completely uproot my life including missing work and a new job to quash these issues the tone and tenor of these emails escalates and there seems to be no sign of stopping the restraining order against michelle was granted and when she was served with the restraining order she was shocked she was like i've never heard of this woman certainly never sent her any emails someone is setting me up and she told them that she had actually received a google alert the week before that her email address had been shut down but it was an email that she had never heard of she certainly didn't create it and she had also received an alert from microsoft saying that her primary email was being used as the recovery email for a bunch of other email addresses that she had never created she even contacted the anaheim police department four times to try and report this that she believed somebody probably her ex-fiance ian was trying to impersonate her and she then you know she never heard back from them so she tried to contact the fbi and the department of justice but nobody ever called her back no one ever took it seriously no one ever looked into it and now she's being served with a restraining order now things get even crazier here if you can believe it so angela starts getting emails in response to her craigslist ad that she had never made she didn't have a craigslist account and so somebody had obviously gone on craigslist made an account under her name and posted an ad pretending to be her pretending that she was soliciting a rape fantasy and these were extremely detailed emails they said that she wanted somebody to get her while she was walking her dog force her into her house and attack her there and they had what breed her dog was on there they had her phone number on there they had the full address to the condo she was living in michelle and ian's condo that they had bought angela was obviously living there because mind you she was pregnant with twins at this time and then on the 24th of june in 2016 she contacted the police and said that somebody had broken into her garage and had attacked her but she had managed to fend them off when police arrived she had a very red neck her shirt had been ripped and her head had been slammed against the wall and michelle had actually been on a date at the time so when she got home from this date she was arrested because the craigslist ad came from her she spent the night in jail and that night that she was in jail angela didn't receive any harassing emails the next day michelle's parents managed to post the ten thousand dollar bail and so she was released and once she was released and out of jail angela started receiving these harassing emails again some of which actually came from michelle's personal email address and she was also receiving emails in responses to new craigslist ads that had been created again saying that she was looking for a rape fantasy and then on the 13th of july angela contacts 9-1-1 again because she sees a man standing outside her condo and she was terrified i mean if you had craigslist ads up soliciting rape fantasies and you didn't put them up and your full home address was on there i would be terrified of anybody who walked past my house especially stood there for too long so she contacts 9-1-1 the police arrive and they go and talk to this dude and it's like a 17 year old kid and he was like yeah i was responding to the craigslist actually told people to just come here so on the 14th of july michelle was arrested again and this time her bell was set at one million dollars because angela seemed to be in pretty imminent danger and it didn't seem like michelle was gonna stop anytime soon and so her parents couldn't afford to pay this one million dollar bail this time they were like we can either pay your bail or we can get you a good lawyer you just you know you make the decision and so michelle decided to stay in jail and get the lawyer because she's like i could get out on bail and i could be out now but then i'm not gonna have a lawyer to defend me so i'll just end up back in there for a much longer period of time i would rather stay in here for a couple of months let the lawyer do his thing so i can kind of get out permanently and he can prove that none of this was actually me so she has to stay in prison for the next three months and she's terrified because like i mentioned earlier she's always been a very goody two-shoes girl she doesn't take risks she's never been in trouble she doesn't have a criminal record and in jail news got around about her crimes and because she faced sex charges against a pregnant woman she was seen as one of the worst inmates and so she received death threats and was just given a really hard time she was strip searched and confined to herself for 23 hours a day denied access to toilet paper sanitary product and contact lenses and eventually she was assigned a cellmate and her cellmate was a chatty 85 year old grandma who was being held on kidnapping charges she was kind of slow walking like moving and she was hard of hearing which caused her to be taunted and harassed by some of the police deputies or the prison officers they kind of you know like michelle helped her out she helped michelle out they kind of stuck stuck up for each other and it gave michelle kind of a purpose in prison she would also write to her parents a lot while she was in prison and her parents fully supported her they knew that this wasn't her and they were doing everything that they could to try and prove it they pulled her school records to prove that she had been in school at some of the times that these emails were sent so they couldn't have been sent by her they also pulled her hospital records because there was at one point she was hospitalized when at the time that one of the emails was sent to angela and so michelle couldn't have sent it because she was in hospital dad also downloaded a software that would trace ip addresses so he was like using this to trace the ip addresses the emails to angela was sent from to prove that they were not sent from michelle and michelle's mum would kind of follies away and organize them so it'd be really easy to show the police but in a twist of events they actually did not need to provide police with any of this information that they had found because surprisingly ian diaz helped her get released he went to speak to the police on the 30th of september in 2016 and he told them that he believed that michelle was being framed by his wife angela so angela was sending herself these emails she was creating these craigslist ads about herself and that's not all turns out angela was bat [ __ ] so strap-on because things are about to get wild you guys are not ready so back in the spring of 2016 angela had actually been pregnant once before like before she got pregnant with the twins and she told the police that she suffered a miscarriage from this pregnant as a result of michelle's behavior her threatening emails the craigslist ad all of that sort of thing and ian told them that actually this was not true she never had a miscarriage she actually got an abortion because she didn't know who the father was and her next pregnancy the pregnancy with the twins was actually just a straight-up lie she was never pregnant and the sonogram photos that she had shown ian and his family she'd actually purchased them off etsy for 7.50 and i don't know how she like faked the pregnancy test she probably bought that too ian found out about all of this and then he left her and that's probably when he went to the police and if you thought that was the only thing she lied about you would be sorely mistaken my friend if you remember one of the emails was sent from jason rayburn her ex-boyfriend i said we would come back to him well we're coming back to him he and angela dated in 2014 for a while and they met at a bar hit it off right away because they had a ton in common jason was a highway patrol man and angela told him that she was an attorney so you know they were both kind of in the legal sort of business i don't know what to call it fortunately very shortly after they started dating angela was diagnosed with cervical cancer and she also told jason that her living situation had basically fallen apart so he moved her in with him and she was going through chemo so she was really fatigued she was really worn down and just didn't really have a lot of energy to be moving around the house all the time so he moved everything in his house around to accommodate her which was especially difficult because jason had a son who did have special needs and so the change was really difficult but they were trying to make it work he had very demanding hours at his job so he couldn't really come to a lot of her chemo sessions which angela didn't mind she never asked him to come she never asked him to drop her off or pick her up or anything like that she would just kind of go make her own way there and then she would send him updates she would send him photos like hey i'm a chemo i'm doing all right like how's work sort of thing she also started losing her hair pretty early on in her chemo treatment so she decided to just shave her head and she wore a wool beanie around a lot of the time she also started drinking pretty heavily and she was becoming quite irrational so jason was concerned he was starting to think that maybe she wasn't really sick she wasn't making a lot of the lifestyle changes that people with chemo normally have because drinking obviously not something that you should be doing when you are going through chemo treatments he also noticed that her hair seemed to be growing back really quickly which is not normally what happens when it falls out from chemo it looked like she had just shaved her head and it was immediately growing back under the beanie so he actually asks one of his friends at one point to monitor the house he's like hey look she's meant to have a chemo session today do you mind just keeping an eye out and letting me know if she actually does leave the house and his friend gets back to him and he's like she did not leave the house and he was like something is not right here because she said she had a chemo session today but she never left the house it's just seeming a little weird so he starts googling cancer cervical cancer and chemo just kind of seeing if it's normal for her hair to grow back that fast or if you can drink like all of that sort of thing because he's like something's not right like is it me or is something not right so he's googling it and as he googles it what comes up the photos that she has been sending him from her chemo sessions she had just gone on google saved a couple of photos and sent them to him which is so ridiculous like at least make it a little harder to find you know what i mean anyone who googles chemotherapy they're gonna see those photos so the logic was lackin jason he knows like the gig is up he knows angela doesn't have cancer but then he gets contacted by one of angela's friends a woman named mary they worked together at the law firm that they worked at and they had become fast friends they hung out all the time angela would even hang out with mary and her son and like go to her son's little league games and go to restaurants with them and mary said she felt really bad for angela because angela had told her that jason was abusive that she was going through chemo and she had no family in california and so mary felt really bad for her and hung out with her all the time but she also quickly became suspicious of angela angela would come over to her house and bring like an entire bottle of wine and would drink that whole bottle of wine to herself so she was like you know i don't really know if people would be doing that if they were on chemo and she was just kind of not exhibiting any of the side effects that people who are going through chemo normally experience and she you know jason was still being abusive and she's like that's really weird that he would be so mean to her while she's going through all of this cancer stuff then she calls the hospital where angela is supposedly getting her chemo treatments so that she can kind of surprise her and go and visit her i mean that's what she says but secretly i feel like maybe she called the hospital to just kind of confirm her suspicions and they did just that they told her we have no record of an angela diaz at this hospital getting chemo or no record of her at all period and that's when mary knew for sure that angela was full of [ __ ] and she contacted jason and jason was devastated he was heartbroken this woman he clearly loved was lying to him about all of these things including something so devastating as cancer and not just cancer like she was lying to him about everything and when i mean everything i mean even lying about what she worked as because when he spoke to mary mary and angela obviously worked together and mary told jason that angela was actually a paralegal so jason and mary decide to hold an intervention with some of their friends to basically tell angela like we know so jason speaks first he's like we know you don't have cancer and we know you're not an attorney and angela is like how dare you i am an attorney and i do have cancer do you want to see my papers do you want to call my mom which like how is your mother a reliable source of information in this i don't know and also mary is there like hosting the intervention with jason angela and mary work together at the same place so mary knows that angela is not an attorney and that she is a paralegal and angela is standing there lying straight to her face being like i am an attorney mary's like okay show us your chemo port then because basically when you're going through chemo you get a device implanted under your skin which delivers the chemo drugs directly to like a large vein in the upper chest and angela couldn't she refused she refused to take her jacket off and that was kind of it that was the end of the intervention they were like you know we know you're full of [ __ ] and so they immediately after the intervention was done moved her out because mary had come over to jason's house before the intervention and helped him pack all of angela's stuff up so by the end of the intervention she was gone so yeah it turns out angela was a big fat phony and the police found out about all of this and they were like geez what else is this woman lied about so you know they do a little digging they find out she's lied about past employers she's lied about like faking checks to pretend she's earned more money and she also lied about not just being an attorney but she also lied about having a law degree she didn't have a law degree at all so she was a compulsive liar and the stuff she was lying about so weird as well like to pretend you're an attorney instead of a paralegal is so random and not to mention lying about cancer why do so many people do that even i knew a guy in high school who lied about having cancer and it was so weird because you'd be on the phone to him and he'd be like oh yeah see you michael uh yeah i'm you know just leaving hospital now that's just one of the other patients and obviously he was not at hospital saying goodbye to another patient because he didn't have cancer he was lying about it so imagine being like in your room and just on the phone to someone and being like yes see you michael weird why is it such a common lie it's not something you should lie about because it's such a heartbreaking devastating thing to have cancer angela was next level though she lied about having cancer she lied about having a miscarriage which again is so incredibly messed up she lied about being pregnant she lied about michelle harassing her like she literally tried to ruin this woman's life she had her center prison michelle was facing life in prison if she was convicted of doing the things that angela was accusing her of and she even lied about being attacked in the garage so back on the 24th of june when she contacted 9-1-1 to say that she had been attacked in her garage police actually looked at the surveillance footage from the condor and found that that was not true it never happened she had obviously like scratched her own neck up and kind of slammed her own head against the wall ripped her own shirt to make it look like it had happened but surveillance footage doesn't lie so finally police obtain a search warrant for all of angela's devices which personally i feel like they should have done that sooner probably before sending an innocent woman to prison because it's about time they started doing their jobs like michelle had tried to contact the anaheim police four times to report that she believes someone was impersonating her she called the fbi the department of justice nobody returned her calls and it actually later came out that three days before michelle was first arrested a warrant showed that 21 of the threatening emails had actually originated from angela and ian's condo and then they still arrested michelle three days after finding out that information anyway they finally get the search warrant for angela's devices and they find out she has been sending herself the emails using a vpn because a vpn encrypts your ip address so that's why it was a little hard to track and if you remember michelle's dad was like kind of searching for these ip addresses using that software and michelle's mum was kind of filing them away well the reason she was filing them away and keeping them organized is because they got a bunch of different ip addresses because the vpn encrypts the ip address and like creates like it was creating a bunch of different ip addresses for all of the emails she was sending and she wasn't just sending them from the condo either she was also sending them from her dad's place in arizona when she went to visit him which is so weird like imagine hanging out with your dad and you're sending yourself death threats at the same time that is unhinged behavior if all of that wasn't crazy enough for you they also found two word documents on her computer one of which was titled the darkness within an angela diaz story and the other was titled daughters of god the angela diaz story so these were both pitches to the lifetime tv network because she wanted a lifetime movie made about herself and all of the craziness she had experienced and they also found a bunch of searches for gone girl on her computer because obviously she was inspired by the movie gone girl i guess angela diaz was arrested on the 6th of january in 2019 and three days later michelle hadley was exonerated by the orange county district's attorney's office after spending three months in jail on the 17th of october in 2019 nine months after angela's arrest she pled guilty to 10 felony charges including false imprisonment and perjury and because she pled guilty she struck a deal and was only sentenced to five years in prison after trying to have michelle sent to prison for life like she was facing life in prison because of the charges that were brought against her because of angela and now she's only getting five years after getting caught out not to mention this woman is a compulsive lie you're telling me five years time she's gonna get out and she's gonna stop lying to people i don't think so since being exonerated michelle went on to get her mba and she got a good job in her field marketing for a beauty company and she also moved to new york to live with her sister and just get away from all the craziness that happened to her in california because she is still traumatized by what happened i mean of course and she's still paying off the debts which are largely a result of unpaid bills that piled up drean and after her incarceration and to rub salt in the ruined by the time that she was released from prison ian had sold the condo for 500 000 and she didn't see a cent of that money also after michelle got out she persuaded her parents to pay the legal fees of the 85 year old woman she shared a cell with because they had grown close and michelle had lost faith in the justice system after everything that happened to her and she also realized that her faith in the justice system in the first place was a luxury of being a middle-class white person on the 20th of december michelle's attorneys filed a lawsuit on her behalf claiming that you know this was not some sort of sophisticated cyber crime angela's attempts to impersonate michelle were sloppy and they would have easily been spotted if investigators had just bothered to look and the lawsuit also claimed that ian was actually involved that he was so hell-bent on punishing her after their relationship dissolved that he plotted to frame her for stalking and threatening his new wife she believes that in arresting her the anaheim police ignored ian's plans in order to protect their fellow lawmen because i mean how else would angela have known michelle's email how else would she have known about the biblical undertones to the emails that she had sent to ian how would she even have known about those emails if it wasn't for ian police definitely should have looked into ian as well as angela and the way that he treated her during their relationship and for this to happen immediately after they break up it's just too convenient but that's everything that's it for me today guys was i right or was i right about this case being insane i feel heartbroken for michelle that she had to go through any of that that she had to go through first of all that terrible relationship with ian and then going to prison for three months facing a life sentence because her ex-boyfriend or ex-fiance's crazy new wife is trying to blackmail you for no reason or i guess your ex-fiance was trying to blackmail you for no reason because you cannot convince me that he wasn't involved it's too convenient he had to at least have supplied angela with the emails like the biblical emails that michelle had sent him with michelle's email because otherwise how would angela have known any of that information it also got me thinking because she managed to get into michelle's personal email and send herself emails from her own personal email create new emails with michelle's personal email so it had me thinking like did ian potentially still have michelle's password like did he get their pa her password while they were dating and he still had it and then gave it to angela or like how else does she get into the email i know you can hack people but angela doesn't really seem like the brightest cookie like she got caught out in every single lie that she told so i can't see her being like some insane hacker but yeah
