ruler of the Fire Nation during the conclusion of the hundred-year war oai was one of the most powerful firebenders on Earth and a driver of industry and Technology like his predecessors he had Ambitions of Conquering the World by bringing down other nations becoming supreme ruler strategically using San's Comet he almost achieved his goal of becoming Phoenix King but he was ultimately thwarted by Avatar a who took away his bending abilities welcome back to channel frederator today we're going to put together a complete timeline of oai from his not so humble beginnings all the way up to his time in prison following his son's Ascension as Fire Lord this video was made with information from the Avatar Wiki with that out of the way let's get into the video early life oai was born around 55 AG to his parents Fire Lord aulan and his wife Isa apparently he was quite a difficult baby and was very temperamental from the moment he could crawl as a baby he had his portrait painted while playing on the beach his difficult temperament didn't did not disappear with age and he grew even more stubborn over time his ambitious and impatient nature was there from the start as such his relationship with Ira was strained the two were always competing fighting and getting in each other's way even simple games of P show turned into very serious matters plenty of people simply saw this as just the way he was as an emotional youth however this Behavior was encouraged by the fact that aulan favored iro as a ruthlessly driven individual oai did quite well in school this impressed iro and they actually got along for a little while however iro soon discovered that oai lacked any empathy and he distanced himself from his brother once more eventually ozai attempted to find and capture the Avatar just like his father and grandfather but he was equally unsuccessful in this task oai never became a general like his grandfather father or brother and as such he did not achieve any military success he would spend a lot of time outside of the palace however training in martial arts and finding ways to involve himself himself in political Intrigue when the fire sages predicted that adding Avatar roku's lineage to the royal family would result in a more powerful bloodline oai traveled with his father to Hira there they found the granddaughter of Roku Ursa oai proposed and Ursa accepted when they traveled back to the capital city a commoner blocked them and demanded ursa's release ozai's soldiers almost killed the man but Ursa convinced her newly betrothed to stop the man was let go and they returned to the capital marriage and early family life the two married when oai was 30 ozai explained to Ursa her new duties and the expectations placed upon her as a royal wife she was to cut all ties with her past in order to devote herself to the royal family oai kissed her saying that she now belonged to him soon they had two children Zuko and aula Zuko was a cause of worry as he was born without a certain spark in his eyes a sign that he might not be a Firebender oai ashamed almost threw his newborn son out Ursa and the fire sages convinced him to keep his son during a family vacation on Ember Island Zuko almost drowned attempting to help a turtle crab oai rescued his son from the tide and Ursa took care of the boy for the rest of the day he tried to be a good father during his children's early years but eventually he started to favor aula she showed great promise as a Firebender Ursa was uncomfortable with her daughter's destructive nature something oai reveled in he continued to encourage her talents as a Firebender as well as her cruelty and perfectionism deteriorating relationship oai had all of ursa's letters intercepted and filed away keeping her from interacting with her previous life one day one of ursa's servants brought a particularly salacious letter to ozai's attention causing him to freak out at the contents after reading this letter he became even more bitter toward his wife and Zuko he sent a Yuan Archer to kill ursa's ex-boyfriend ikim during a family dinner aula described how she showed up her firebending instructor Master Kuno Zuko tried to defend the teacher and oai was not impressed it it was then that he revealed that he had planned to cast Zuko out of the palace for his lack of potential as an infant ozai's preference for aula continued to grow it was then that the Archer returned with news that he was unable to confirm the death of the target as he had disappeared in the forgetful Valley oai dismissed the Archer and had him resign from the Yuan archers for his failure ozai then confronted his wife about the letter from earlier claiming that she was supposed to leave her old life behind any communication with people from outside of the palace was considered treason he believed Zuko to be evidence of ursa's treacherous act but said he would spare the boy oai said he did not spare eim however and told Ursa about the Assassin he had sent Ursa confirmed that Zuko was their son but oai already knew this as he had sent spies to watch over her months ahead of his arrival he wanted to know why she would write obvious lies and attempt to send them out of the palace Ursa said she hoped Zuko wouldn't turn out like oai to which oai said he'd treat their son like that of a treacherous dog reign as fire lord 95 a G to 100 AG rise to power and coronation at around this time iro began the 600 day Siege of BOS sing SE which ended when io's son Len perished io's failure along with the loss of his only Heir inspired oai to petition their father aulan to revoke io's Birthright as Crown Prince aulan was infuriated by this and ordered oai to kill his only son in order to understand io's pain as oai was about to go through with this order Ursa learned of his plans and begged him to stop she offered him a chance at the throne in exchange for not killing their son she made an untraceable poison and gave it to ozai to do with as he pleased he agreed to this but only on the conditions that she leave the palace as he was worried she might poison him as well he kept the kids promising that they'd be safe as long as she upheld her side of the deal and said that he would track her down if she ever tried anything that night he used the poison to kill his father the next day aulan was found dead and the fire sages claimed that his dying wish was that oai would be crowned Fire Lord celebrations throughout the Fire Kingdom followed including a new play titled a zulan's legacy the play depicted oai as the destined successor keeping the conflict within the royal family a secret early Reign ozai's Ascension to power saw him continue in his Father's Footsteps largely continuing on the war path and pushing for the fire nation's domination of the world however he was a brutal autocrat expecting nothing less than total loyalty and subordination from all around him he quickly eliminated anyone who would question his orders often exiling executing or imprisoning anyone who was even slightly out of Step even the children of these so-called perpetrators weren't safe only the most subservient stuck around and many military commanders were replaced oai was more willing than his predecessors to make deals with Outlaws in order to further his plans he paid the Crimson sales Armada to stay out of the way essentially making his rule over the world's Seas irrefutable he also funded and supported technological advances such as the Fire Nation drill meant to break through bosing se's walls 2 years before the Avatar was discovered at the South Pole Zuko spoke out in ozai's war room against a general who planned to sacrifice troops oai infuriated made Zuko duel in an agik Kai however Zuko did not duel the general he offended but instead he dueled oai himself Zuko refused to fight his father and as punishment for his cowardice and disrespect oai permanently scarred Zuko's face and exiled his son telling him not to return until he captured the Avatar this was meant to be an impossible task seeing as the Avatar had been missing for a 100 years but Ang ended up resurfacing in response to this oai dedicated plenty of resources to capturing the Avatar and even promoted Xiao to Admiral to increase his chances of finding Ang when iro attempted to stop Xiao from killing the water trib's Moon Spirit oai sent aula to capture iro and Zuko with the Fire Nation drill ready to rock oai sent it along with a fleet of tundra tanks to finally take bosing SE around this time Zuko supposed Ed L killed the Avatar helping aula conquer the city marking the first and only time ozai felt proud of his son drastic measures days before the eclipse ozai found out that even though the Fire Nation had conquered the Earth Kingdom the people of the earth Kingdom would not give up with advice from aula oai decided that the only way to actually finish the fight would be to burn the Earth Kingdom to Ash with the help of San's comet on the day of the black Sun during the eclipse oai hid away in an underground bunker Zuko arrived and told his father that the Avatar was actually still alive and aula had been the one to fail oai Furious tried to attack his son but found his firebending useless due to the eclipse here isuko said he was done trying to earn his father's love after all he had done to him oai claimed that it was meant to teach him respect but Zuko saw through this Zuko said that he needed to return balance to the world resulting in oai branding him a traitor he distracted his son by telling him what had actually happened to his mother and attempted to kill Zuko with a black blast of lightning zuka redirected this attack and ran away to join the Avatar Phoenix King 100 AG with the arrival of San's comment oai was ready to take over the world he crowned himself Phoenix King ruler of the world and left aula to be the fire lord Dawning his new crown and armor he led his Fleet of airships to take out the Earth Kingdom Avatar Ang was ready for this however and destroyed his airship battle at wulong Forest oai saw Ang's presence as an act of Providence something the UN had delivered to him refusing to stop the war he attacked the Avatar San's Comet gave him quite the advantage for much of this fight and Ang refused to actually harm let alone kill oai this allowed oai to overpower and Corner the Avatar mocking him as he did so however he actually managed to unblock Ang's final chakra resulting in him entering the Avatar State this spelled the end for oai who was unable to fight back against all four elements in the end Ang did not kill oai but instead employed energy bending to remove ozai's fire bending entirely thus the fight ended without any casualties imprisoned following the end of the war Zuko was crowned the new Fire Lord oai was brought to the capital city prison where his brother iro was once interred Zuko visited his father in prison claiming that being banished set him on the right path and saying that ozai should use his time Behind Bars to reflect on his actions Zuko also asked where his mother was a question oai could not answer oai refusing to change simply mocked his son and said he'd be back for advice Zuko removed any oai loyalists from office and some even tried to get oai reinstated but these attempts did not work however the young Fire Lord did return to the prison to get advice from his father this prompted oai to tell the story of Zuko almost drowning at the beach after being unable to decide between helping two different animals ozai's lesson here was that there was no right or wrong as whatever the fire lord wanted to do was right by definition aula was brought to a prison cell beside oai but they did not speak at first they requested privacy and oai told aula about the information in letters sent by Ursa information that could allow aula to take the throne from her brother later Ursa returned to the fire Kingdom and visited oai he threatened her claiming that he would hurt her and everyone she loved however this did not affect her as she could finally see him as he truly was a small person who could not love anyone not even himself Legacy ozai's advice to Zuko ended up indirectly contri buting to the United Republic of Nations Zuko managed to avoid falling into ozai's style of rule eventually it became widely known that oai had poisoned his father in order to become Fire Lord and that my friends ends our oai timeline a poor
