54 Jane Bashara worked as a senior marketing manager at an energy consulting firm in Detroit old Bob he was a man of business owned unmanaged several properties he was known to be a full-on rapist a philanthropist in the local area of Grosse Pointe Park and at one time was the president of the local Rotary Club big dog woof-woof in the business world so to speak I mean crazy car so that brings us to Jane Bashara zarif disappearance and it was brief because she was spend the next day see Jane disappeared on the afternoon of January 24th 2012 in downtown Detroit she had a work-related meeting that day and wasn't seen after Oh Bobby shittin himself that something may have happened to his wife filed a missing-persons report that very night then the next day at 7:00 in the a.m. Jane's body was discovered in the back seat of her Mercedes SUV by a tow truck driver which was found parked in an alley in East Detroit Jane had been strangled to death and had signed that she had fought her attacker bruises and broken fingernails well what do we have here and it didn't look like she'd been killed in the car it looked like she'd been killed somewhere else and placed there her cell phone on purse were found nearby and hubby Bobby would say she had no reason to be in an alley in East Detroit at all Bob he told the police he got home the day before out of an 8 p.m. he came home he saw you know her work ID was there the TV was on and you know he says but she wasn't there so he assumed she was just out running errands but it looked like she had come home and then with her being a no-show he contacted her neighbors before eventually filing that missing-persons report at 11:30 in the p.m. Bob said the last time he talked to his wife Jane was you know the day she she disappeared he called her on the phone while she was coming home from work though phone records Bob would say you're full of [ __ ] keine police are checking phone records and Detroit investigators say they do not believe this was a random act and Jane Bashara husband understands police wanting to talk to him obviously they have to do a job someone did this to my wife they have to start they usually start they said start closest to the home and then spread out and the soul and I'm doing what I need to do to cooperate with the authorities to find who did this to my wife investigators ask Bob Bashara to come to the Grosse Pointe Park police station to talk to them about his wife's murder and without hesitation he did and police say he's been cooperative they have a job to do and I want to help them find whoever did this to my wife so I fully cooperated with them Jane's funeral was held vigils gathered and the investigation began two days after Jane's body was found brutally beaten and strangled in the back of her own car the police announced that Bob Oh Bobby he was a person of interest not a suspect but a person of interest just him so far see Bob had taken and failed a lie-detector test when asked if he had any involvement in his wife's death raising somebody Li brows can you talk to us about what they talked to you about Bob Bashara stayed tight-lipped and moved swiftly to his SUV after spending about four hours inside Grosse Pointe Park Police Station being questioned and taking a polygraph test can you tell us anything moments after he took off Chief David Hillier came down to the lobby to make this announcement he has continued to cooperate with our investigation he is a person of interest with our investigation both Grosse Pointe Park and Detroit detectives have been investigating since the body of mashiro's wife Jane was found in the back of her Mercedes in an alley in Detroit and right now the attention has turned his way see the police came to believe that Jane had been murdered in their home in the Bashara home placed in the back of the SUV and then jumped you know in Detroit on a subsequent search of the Bashara home they found a bit of blood in the garage however this was only discovered on their second search of the Bashara household something Bob would later describe as fishy this is my mother Nancy for sheriff well this is my son Robert well god of Jessica I have to go back to school to resume her studies we wish to thank hundreds hundreds of supporters people who have shown their love and respect for my Jane this is an unconceivable tragedy and everyone needs them all how absolutely wonderful and how much this is meant that they'll never know how wonderful this has been for us and then just a few days later a man named Joseph gets 48 years old came to the police with some information and it was a whopper he told the police that Bob had paid him $2,000 e dues on an old Cadillac to murder Jane Bashara and not only that Bob had pointed a gun at his head forcing him to murder her take her edge of taking you father apparently told him according to Joseph Bob also helped him hide the body they wanted to make it look like a carjacking gone wrong or something like that joe gans rented property from bob and was also mentally impaired having an IQ of 67 the confession wasn't taken very seriously by police because joe is described as basically having the mind of a child and they they they didn't buy it and they kind of let him go and Bob Bob would say hey I don't even wanna go and how would I wait a gun I'd show his head and force him to kill my wife when I D when I don't even know her go come on hey was that believable right I don't own a firearm and I absolutely had nothing to do with this that is a sick assessment on his part it just shows how deranged he is and many bits of info about Bob started trickling out he was balls deep in a double life centered around sadomasochism and Fang dungeons he had his very own bang dungeon ladies and gentlemen underneath one of the properties owned by Bob the hard luck lounge in Downton Bruce Point was a naughty sex dungeon filled with whips and chains and all your look would be it a good look for him the police would also find out about one of his mistresses one of them Rachel Jillette who had actually been fired from her job at Wayne State University for leaving work the day Jane Bashara was found bob was reportedly getting ready to buy a house with her she was not considered a person of interest in the case however so all of this Bob's double life as I said had nothing really to do with Jane's death but when we get to the trial spoiler alert that would be paraded again and again in front of the jury now the investigation really had a setback when the clothes that Jane was wearing you know when she was murdered but her body was found and they were on the way to the crime lab to be analyzed when they were intercepted sceptered by the medical examiner who threw the mouse Birnam destroyed chains clothes that may have had DNA and [ __ ] on them he destroyed them because he said he didn't think the police would want them so [ __ ] it in the band yeah weird Bob and his lawyer were both devastated by this damn you know if only those clothes hadn't been destroyed we could find the real killer however in the meantime while all of this was squirting out bob was maintaining his erection innocence he was maintaining his innocence I didn't kill my wife what's she on about I didn't have anything to do with her death oh yeah I didn't force anybody to kill her why would I want to kill her come on we had an open marriage but yeah it was cool come on I'm the real victim here I've been under siege by the media my tear glands run dry up in soap set my alternative lifestyle ain't got nothin to do with this is there any motive that you could have had to kill your wife no no financial no didn't want to be married to her anymore none whatsoever we had a very good open relationship are you scared for the day that the police may come for you I'm frightened about this to know that I could spend the rest of my life in jail for a crime I didn't commit is a very scary thing Beshara was joined by his daughter Jessica who held his hand through most of the interview standing by her father do you believe there's any chance that your father could be capable of murdering your mother no not at all without a doubt in my mind I know that he did not do it there's no way why are you so sure how can you be so sure I just know how my mom felt about him there was never any even hint towards violence if you are arrested are you fighting this till the end absolutely I did nothing wrong I didn't commit murder I didn't pay to have my wife killed I'm gonna see this through to the end and I'm innocent yeah well in March of that year Joe Gentz was arrested I guess the police thought a little bit harder about his confession did you kill Jane Bashara did you kill her Joe if Bob makes you do it he was charged with first-degree murder yeah man Joe did it Joe totally did it breaking news handyman Joe Gentz is under arrest for the murder of Jane Bashara when he walked into the Macomb County Courthouse Joe Gentz knew he was going to be arrested in the murder of Jane Bashara we're told he was scared and nervous but ready to face what comes for his involvement in the killing of the Grosse Pointe Park woman against is the former handyman of Bob Bashara Jane's husband and gets told police early on in the investigation that Bob Bashara offered him thousands of dollars to kill his wife and when the day came forced him at gunpoint to strangle her in the garage of their Grosse Pointe Park home against turned himself into police just days after the killing and implicated Bob Bashara but police released Kent's until today and then when Joe was arrested wouldn't public men say yeah you know that Joe without son of a [ __ ] we were having a dispute about $600 and you know Joe must have come up to my house one day when I wasn't there and just got enraged a Jane and killed her you know perfect motive there we a be five had six hundred books and he's got the mind of a child he wanted more money from me he he badgered me and yes I do believe he's capable of it yeah the police thought there was more to it than that it's cool how are you I'm doing great I feel good throughout this whole mess this whole disaster with me losing my wife Jane was a wonderful person we have fully cooperated and we continue to do so this is another example of that mistake they asked you for my graph you give him a polygraph yes beforehand ready to give you a herring what does that say about Bob Bashara it says that Bob Bashara wants to find out who killed his wife wants to find out what happened and the truth Joe Gentz right now who was obviously fingering you is putting him up to this I have nothing to say to him I won't we have cooperating fully and will continue to cooperate fully with the authorities that's all I really have to say that you've made some mistakes in your marriage and then this is just they're just trying to finger you I have I have nothing to say beyond that really I that's something I don't wish to comment then in June 2012 four months after Jane Bashara was murdered Bob himself was arrested she came out that he had attempted to hire a killer another one to murder the first one yeah yeah he hired somebody to kill the guy who killed his wife which the guy who killed his wife say he hired him so yeah a furniture store owner was wearing a wire when Bob asked him to find somebody to kill Joe for 2,000 books with a breaking news alert exclusive video from the local court defenders Bob Bashara locked up in a jail cell tonight but the charge he faces is a surprise to many people Bob Bashara is being held there behind me at downtown jail here he just turned out the lights but you can see the flicker of his TV Bashara is being held in his own private jail cell for his own safety and I'm told he's also being closely watched so he doesn't hurt himself this just hours after being arrested in Grosse Pointe Park only defender cameras roll as Bob Bashara leaves the police station in the back of a squad car in December 2012 Bob the guilty to solicitation of murder he said the motive wasn't you know killed so he could collect $800,000 in her 401k account his plan prosecutor said was to purchase a house he dubbed the cottage where he would be served by multiple submissive women are wonderful and live the VDS em lifestyle full-time and legally changed his name to master Bo okay I made that part two other women also came forward during this trial saying they too were also his mistresses what a plan what a guy a lot of people have been asking why the prosecution is going so far with this testimony about the BDSM lifestyle well I can tell you for a lot of reasons number one it shows the man against master Bob Bob Bashara continues to maintain his innocence in his wife's murder he says he didn't conspire there was no conspiracy with Joe he didn't force him to do it didn't solicit him to do it he'd nothing to do with them he filed a petition for a retrial citing ineffective legal counsel and that request was shut down however a year later Joe Gentz was back on the scene this time saying that the police had forced him to say bob was involved in Jane Bashara death and that Bob wasn't even there that day heard yet today a bombshell in the Bashara case Joe Gentz the man who admitted to killing Jane Bashara is trying to take it all back he now says Bob Bashara had nothing to do with his wife's death joe gans has been talking in prison to an inmate the result of those talks this sign affidavit from Joe Gentz saying that he and he alone acted in the murder of Jane Bashara that Bob Bashara had nothing to do with it in fact it's a signed document already filed in the court here's Joe against his signature there that means he is risking perjury under the penalty of perjury that he says he is now telling the truth the bottom line to all this is that legal experts are saying it's a complete game-changer for Bob Bashara calling this affidavit from Joe Gentz a gift dropping right in Bob Bashara slab full of twists and turns Joe Gentz is because now after bob has been sentenced for involvement in Jane's death Joe was saying he wasn't involved even though he testified that he was so now he's saying he wasn't and his story will change again because when this came back again to course he did the el switcheroo and pointed the finger squarely at Bob saying that he rocked up to the Bashara home and heard Bob and Jane fighting then Bob Pollin gun on him and Joe murder Jane I went over there the move boxes next thing I know he pulls a gun on me and says shut her up they were arguing still and he says do it now so I broke her neck yes I'm be honest I did do that but meanwhile after she was dead he walks over her top was open he goes over to her and he says I'm sorry maybe I don't mean a bunch of talk back down Court is going to so fine there is no newly discovered evidence here that would exonerate your client moreover the court is going to find that there has not been a miscarriage of justice all of your motions are denied you have 42 days to appeal my decision if you cannot afford one want to be a point to you thank you and that concludes this matter so to sum it all up because this case is rather confusing and remember this is all he said she said or rather he said he said Bob Bashara forced a mentally impaired man to murder his wife helped him dispose of the body Joe that went to the police and fully confessed the police didn't believe him well then they did believe him and then Bob tried to hire another guy to kill Joe all the while getting very fond of using the master Bob alias and continuing to deny he had anything to do with what happened to Jane right murder-for-hire tonight a convicted hitman breaking his silence in the Jane Bashara murder Jen's pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and is now a prisoner at the Muskegon Correctional Facility he could be paroled in just 10 years I talked to him by phone do you think that Bob Bashara could still be a threat to your life after everything Bubba share was known around the points as Big Bob and prosecutors said he wanted his wife Jane out of the way so he could keep her money his mistress and the kinky life he led in his basement level sex dungeon so he roped
