The Disturbing Case of Grant Amato

I mean I left the house later than when I had said did you leave the house with your brother Cody looking like that or did you leave the house with your father looking like that or your mother did that how do you left your family know hey you and welcome my name is Mike and in this video we're gonna talk about those haughty Bulgarian calm girls they must really be something this is the story of grant Amato who became so obsessed with one he took an action many would consider rush he murdered three members of his own family so yeah pretty bad Florida man always a good start grant Amato was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for murdering his mother Margaret his father Chad and his brother Cody on January 24th 2019 this is a messed up one no [ __ ] and we got a fair amount of interrogation footage to cover so settle in grunt amato the youngest of three children group in Orlando an attendant Timber Creek High School growing up he had an interest in airsoft guns and what are those guns that don't shoot pellets oh yeah real guns he loved real guns to look like you did what do I like to do I like to watch anime um you know my brother kind of started doing that back five years ago I studied you kinda got me into it what is it I'm sorry I'm sorry I loaded it I mean I think it's at end of it okay and then when you start explaining to it I mean I got it like now it's animated it's like cartoons I guess you could say about it's Japanese cartoons I guess it eventually put itself it's not as it's like the the stories and whatnot in the way that those shows program is not as childish as cartoons and then you would think like Powerpuff Girls and SpongeBob SquarePants you know and stuff it's not like that don't they it's a doll face yeah yeah he and his brother Cody in fact were both members of a competitive airsoft team after-school grant went on to become a registered nurse before well what happened happened he graduated from the University of Central Florida with a nursing degree and worked at Orlando Regional Medical Center as a registered nurse in the intensive care unit he left his job at the hospital in 2014 he then moved to Florida Orlando hospital in June 2018 he was arrested after he was accused of stealing prescription drugs from the hospital he was fired from his job but the county attorney eventually declined to prosecute the case his family helped squash that one grant said he stole the drugs to give to patients who he believed were not adequately being relaxed by doctor ordered medication so thoughtful as you can imagine not this stage he wasn't exactly living his best life or whatever people say he was 29 he was unemployed he was living at home with his parents he played a lot of video games and hell thought he'd be the next ninja I think no the game is really played boys fortnight but then I was trying to get to like and actually I during the time that I was on that I wasn't working at the nurse I tried to do the whole twitch streaming thing and it would be around this time that he begotten a loving relationship with a Bulgarian come girl named silly okay so you had won his credit cards yeah and what we violet uh well what I was doing is over the past four months or something like that I've been find and talking to this woman online soo-ji she's embarrassing if it is she's oh she's a she's a can model what a can model yeah it goes on through I can models like they they it's like a virtual girlfriend I guess you'd say okay like I've had a situation so a lot of money ones here okay where she at she lives in Bulgaria Bulgarian where's that over in Europe it's like comes out of Germany okay I'm going together no there was no one that sir would you give her money for um just for like time online with her yeah so it's just like that type of thing and what she charged admitted but our minutes okay how much is a present oh god I think it was like it was like 90 seconds a minute and it's like conversion rate for all of that is $600 for like a like 5000 or something token you're talking like that so and then it was four hours a night II don't mean it's basically just where I like the cost went it was you pay real money for the tokens then you use the company digital currency for everybody that so you wouldn't give me her I met her beginning of July yeah at the very beginning of July this would cause a lot of trouble within the family you already know how this story ends isaac in imagine his family wasn't too pleased about this relationship because she was a con girl she's scamming lonely dudes out of money you see he would send her not just like ten or twenty books he would send her a lot like a lot a lot he was unemployed at the time so he would get money from his brother and father he would either steal it or he would tell them that this was the start of his twitch career like this was for advertising hey where'd my camera money came from me my brother and then my dad do they know what and I was going to they didn't know that it was going to like am i cam honest I was saying that it was going towards my twitch streaming like like put me out like advertising I'm putting my name out there and that that type of thing so based on what you're telling me only so many people make so much money just views and how do you make a bunch of money so well that was like that the ultimate goal is to get to that I was hoping that stars would align and then I would be like one of those people because I was good at the game then I you know I'm a like a funny Pleasant person on the camera and then the type of thing so he ended up sending her $200,000 $200,000 to a con girl how much he Nikki spent um probably close to make $200,000 I think $100 yeah I think that's the saddest thing about this case he would also send sex toys and clothes actually that might be sadder he wanted to appear rich unsuccessful to her by sending her all of this I'm sure it worked in December 2018 grants brother and mother called police to report that Grant was missing depressed and possibly suicidal grant had lost his job failed out of graduate school and expressed strong feelings of worthlessness and he wasn't exactly having the best time looking for a new job though how hard was he really looking for a new job he left home without explanation and sent messages to his mother saying he was tired of dealing with everything and was going to handle it his own way his mother told police her son had access to guns it's worth noting at this point that he didn't exactly have the best relationship with his dad he was his mom's favorite but his dad was more of a kick mop EOS get out of here get a job kind of guy and he wasn't uh wasn't best pleased with grandson life choices when they finally found grant after he ran away they sat him down and after a cursory glance at their bank accounts and what was happening to him his parents demanded he go to rehab in December 2018 grant spent about two weeks at the facility in Fort Lauderdale however although he enrolled in a 60-day program to treat Internet and pornography addiction he only completed about two weeks before returning home he just slept the tires on himself and said this baby's good to go so I guess to like bring it all back with why I was brought to Cornerstone it was a mix of all of those things it's like he felt like you know I um he felt like you need to be grounded yeah yeah and so then I was there you know I supposed to like the therapist and psychiatrist know myself I didn't need any medications for anything they had analyzed it as this an isolated event even out of work you have this PTSD from the whole getting arrested saying and I think the last thing on my record was I think it's being to get back when I was at UCF and then you know just having all that stuff going on here at home on January 5th 3 weeks later he would commit a triple homicide against his own family who were trying to help him well they're telling us just very little at this point but this is a situation that is developing and changing by the minute we are at the intersection of for Christmas Road and Lake Mills Road outside of Chu Lyoto a little bit north of the orange Seminole County line behind me you can see that the entrance to Pickett downs is blocked off by flashing lights and patrol cars in that direction and again patrol cars have been going in and out of here the critical incident command post just rolled in here so they are in here for the long haul indicating that there's a lot of work to do from chopper 2 over the Pickett downs area we can see the area where they are investigating at this point the sheriff's office saying simply that they are investigating a suspicious death at a home inside a Pickett downs with multiple people involved on January 25th 2019 the Sheriff's Office called to the Amato home after a co-worker called police to express concern the Cody motto one of grants older brothers hadn't come to work when deputies entered the amount of home they found three bodies grant quickly became the number one person of interest when the investigation revealed it wasn't a random act of violence there was no sign of a break-in grant lived there and his car wasn't there and witnesses reported him being in the area on January 26th he was found outside a hotel room and taken into investigative detention thank you my full name is grant here in the motto CIA you coming up and do what you guys are lazy to wear where you going I was going to go down because I had like one more bottle of water in my car and I just finished eating like just a little granola bar and I was like I'm just gonna go get my bottle of water and you know what although Polito 30 milligram on january 27th he was released from custody grant has pled not guilty treads the entire case I'm more than willing to sit here all day and all night if you want to to talk to find the facts but I can't I told you from beginning I will not deal with somebody's not being truthful but you're not being truthful you are not tell me that you you've lied and we forgiven you or that we forget you ever can't lie about this grant you can't this is too important for your family of what has happened there's not somebody there's not somebody out run it around the United States to kill them there's not there's no there's nobody out there some hidden killer does not know show the the remorse that you should for someone basically lost three family members body language eyes and demeanor here's the time and I know it's tough tell the truth because when I walk out there is no there's no another day and it's gonna look worse for you when we heard that by the DNA design powder the blood spatter of fingerprints now is the time for you to be honest with us that knows exactly what happened in that house before you left grant told investigators that on January 24th he was in a heated argument with his father and was kicked out of his home because he was continuing to communicate with the bulgarians webcam model over the Internet grant said he met the girl center his family were able to log into his account and essentially tell everyone that he was stealing and wasn't who he said he was after this grant was desperate to win her silly back or baby I'm so sorry during that meeting Chad grants father told grant that if he broke any of the rules he would have to leave the house immediately when the number one rule was that he wasn't allowed to have communications with this cowgirl grant initially agreed to the rules his father had set but he didn't think they were fair because he felt that the Bulgarian female was his girlfriend and they had a relationship it would be an obsession that would drive him to murder his mother his father and one of his older brothers grant told police he continued to communicate with the Bulgarian woman using his Twitter Kent and sometimes his mother's phone also after he returned and got this list of rules his father found out I wasn't best pleased and that was on January 24th on the night of January 24th grant and his father got into a dispute and grants brother Cody arrived try and calm down the situation grant initially told police he left the home before his brother arrived but then changed his story and said he stayed until his brother got there and then he left I have my argument and I'm packing my stuff on you know taking out the car it took me like couple hours to get as much as I could just kind of out into there and then yeah it's like mom's kind of just staying out of it to a certain degree because she knows like how dad could be and then yeah I mean you know I was that's just pretty much where I was kind of waiting after after I met with Cody and that's where you know I was again just kind of thing around that area and then I just went to to the public since my knowledge I mean I was like that was the last interaction that I had with my three-times of my family was was that when you left cubby what did you think he was gonna go do Cody said that he will take care of it take care of what just the situation that was that man did your father say or do anything to scare you he has threatened me that if I stepped foot back on his property not the house if I set foot back on his property that he would kill me and like you said those specific words yes did you tell that to Cody and you thought I told you that no I didn't so you're afraid of oh yeah you are actually afraid that he could get ya but he never once admitted to what he did while he was there um we'd come and talk to you remember up here voluntarily with us to talk to us why do you think we're having this conversation I honestly don't know but I'm pretty freaked out at this point because you know it's uh I mean I know like how the situation was when I left and you know I thought that it was weird to be in what that I hadn't gotten any communication whatsoever I mean like I told you my brother Cody the last time when I was away from the house that he wasn't about reached to me an email because the item I sell had anything like that so I mean I thought that it was weird but I just think I'm putting it out of my mind Donny a good worker there Withers there's something you want to tell us I can see it your eyes I can see your body language and just your the way yet now's the time now at the time there's something you want to get off your chest and give us an explanation of what's positive now is the exact time to do it and I'm giving an opportunity right now to tell me some something you want to get off your chest it's there I see your face okay I am sad about that you're upset about you're upset about you've Annette since we talked to you I see there's something involved I'm just worried about what is all transpiring from this I think at this point right now to be honest with you grant even like this it is in your eyes your eyes it is the beauty or soul it's in your eyes I genuinely don't have anything else that I can say about the night or you know the periods of time afterwards I honestly I don't I don't have anything else that I've been really sad you think something bad has happened at your house and to date so won't get me answers about anybody I mean you're a smart guy you know something's happened at your home you have law enforcement here you haven't heard or got me well I mean I'm just scared as to what the answer is I genuinely don't have anything else that I can say about what transpired during the nighttime so that you left your house everybody was fine yeah and when you left Cody everything was fine it's believed that Margaret was shot as she sat at her computer desk shortly after 444 p.m. the last time her computer is active she worked from home then grant waited for his dad to come home from work Chadha motto was killed about half an hour later when he walked into the kitchen finally Cody was shot for errors later when he arrived at the home to visit shot in the head as he entered the garage all execution-style so I think the disputes may or may not even have happened he simply shot his mother while she worked he waited his dad came home from work shot him then I think what really happened is that he texted his brother Cody from his dad's phone telling him to come over and then as soon as Cody walked into the garage he shot him in the head nobody nobody else went into that house who left a family like this if you were the one that's been depressed you were the one that owes money you would want to come to a confrontation with your father who did this to your family if you were trying to defend yourself or something else happened we need to know now to help you so tell us what happened Graham we're here to listen to your me the truth we're here to make this right you've got to tell the truth it's on the tip of your tongue my man I get that did you oughta go after you and you try to protect yourself no I didn't do any of this there's something that's going to come up that that he's going to make this all come real I'd rather it come from you then have to do it that way the other he tells us what happened you have to fill in the way they can't tell me what happened that fact I know Sheena she never she never held a gun she didn't have a gun that night fact he never fired a gun fact he never fired us she never did this is the person right here mom who always stuck up for you something happened so bad they caused her death your dad's death and Cody and I'll tell you just about how it happened one two three based on evidence based on evidence I know he did not shoot your mom I know he did teach your dad I know he did shoot yourself and I know from from video surveillance camera in the neighborhood nobody else came to that house I know I know I can account from everybody that went to the house tell us what happened I know it what did you mean hey I know video surveillance tells me everything that happened this night I'm telling you people that you'd be surprised who in your neighborhood has video and I know that no but there's only four people with of this house during this time one two three four Kelly you got to tell me man you got to tell me then On January 28th the investigators obtained an arrest warrant charging grant Amato with tree counts of murder the murder weapon was never recovered witness testimony cell phone records and activity showed that grant was at the home that night and was the last person there he continued to deny he did anything to his family he denied this even to his only remaining family member his brother Jason all right so I think you know what happened I'm gonna ask your play not you you are not part of it anyway no I don't know I want to believe in you grant but you're the last person that I could put in that house and I know what happened over the last six months I can understand the troubles that you've gone through but it's hard for me to think that you would break to this point but I don't cool can I blame who how are we going to find out who did this I don't have the answers I love you more than anything in this world just like I love Cody grant and dad I know dad was an [ __ ] I know Cody was an [ __ ] they were our family and they would have never done anything to hurt us I'm sorry I don't I don't believe you and I probably will have resentment for the rest of my life whether you did it or you didn't do it but I need closure I need to know what happened to my mother my father and my brother Cody because I wasn't there to [ __ ] help and that hurts me that hurts me alive man I may not been able to stop you you probably may have hurt me too but at least I wouldn't know what happened and now I'm in [ __ ] who knows like I'm lost and it scares me that you want to leave here and not face what happened because you're putting my life at risk and you're putting Donna's life at risk or you look like how do we know what you're going to do anything else you need to talk about before we ladies Oh hmm cuz now's your time you know that my fanny said once you're out of here you there's no coming back from this we're giving you every opportunity to tell us what happened in that home oh you have not told us so you're aware that when you leave here you're not going to have any chance to redeem yourself to tell us the truth after the fact and you're okay with that you can live with yourself knowing that you're not going to tell us the truth grunt was charged with three counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of his mother Margaret Amato 61 his father shot Amato 59 on brother Cody Amato 31 grants surviving brother Jason and Cody's girlfriend told detectives grant Amato had stolen the money so he could keep talking to the Bulgarian woman online and that resulted in a deteriorating relationship with his family Cody's girlfriend told police Cody told her he feared grunts would kill prosecutors had sought the death penalty in the case however jurors were unable to reach the unanimous decision required in the States for capital punishment he was then sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole based upon this case 2019 cf 337 CFA the state of Florida versus grant Amato you've been found guilty of three counts for killing both your mother your father and your brother margarita mato Chad Amato and Kody Amato at this point you've been found guilty by a jury of your peers what have now indicated that you are not to be sentenced to the death penalty based upon those circumstances the court is limited to one finding and one sentence for you as to each count the court would adjudicate you guilty I would sentence you to life imprisonment without any possibility of parole as to each count there is six hours of interrogation footage and it is just so strange the police know what he did grunt knows the police know what he did but he just won't come clean he just continues to deny deny deny as if that will make it all go away something you still have an asset that's because I'm I'm I mean I don't know what the normal proceedings are but I don't I mean I'm not proceeding there for you to be honest no I mean I never did anything like that there's nothing else that happened in that home while you were there that would lead up to that no your father didn't want a gun at you there was nothing else more than what I could and who do you think that this I don't know I don't have the answer he acts like a child as if he says I don't know what happened that'll mean it never happened so I guess the lesson to learn here is that don't become so obsessed with Bulgarian cowgirls that you murder three members of your own family when they force you to stop contacting her because you sent her over two hundred thousand dollars that you stole from your
