The Berenstain Bears and Too Much Birthday

[Music] now papa you be careful working in the forest and keep a sharp eye on those cubs morning mrs bear good morning my dear be with you in a minute now mind what i said papa of course i'll be careful i will be alert and vigilant at every moment [Music] papa look out here you go papa this way hey i do it all the time bye mama i declare mrs bear it's beyond me how you let papa bear take those cubs into the woods for forest work well papa does tend to get a little carried away sometimes but he's a wonderful husband and father and he's always very careful with his work just look at papa's handcrafted furniture very carefully made lovely in fact i came to order one of our special tea tables my daughter's getting married you know [Music] i do hope papa is being careful he's taking down that big tree today and [Music] wow look at that oh it's a biggie yep there's enough wood in that trunk for a whole truckload of my fine handcrafted furniture no reasonable offer refused but first we have to plant these young trees why is that papa well because you can't just take from mother nature you have to give back too a little water in this hole brother okay popper look it has rings yeah sort of like ripples in a pond when you throw in a stone one two three four five six seven eight nine ten eleven twelve thirteen four those are two annual rings they tell us how old the tree is 22 23 24 25 boy this tree is 25 years old that's older than i am it sure is you're only five five going on six now brother stop teasing you're only eight eight going on nine it isn't fair no matter how old i get i never catch up with him do we have them papa do we have what annual ring no my dear we have something better birthdays and birthday parties and it seems to me that you're going to be having a birthday pretty soon a party am i going to have a birthday party a real birthday party with all the trimmings i don't see why not hey that'll be terrific with cake and ice cream and lots of games a party a party i'm gonna have a party of course we're going to have to talk to your mama about it well i suppose a quiet little birthday party would be all right six is an important birthday a party might be nice we'll have a small cake a small guest list just a few close friends and a few modest decorations but let's not get carried away you know there's such a thing as too much birthday how could you ever have too much birthday mama here's the guest list for my party [Music] billy freddy jones matthew sarah molly herbie laura [Music] mama [Applause] this looks like a nice little cake [Music] just won't be a birthday party without plenty of gas filled balloons [Music] thank you mama for letting me wear my new birthday blouse for my party you're welcome sweetie happy birthday sis oh good the ponies of the merry-go-round are here so what oh didn't i tell you i rented ponies in a merry-go-round for the party it just wouldn't be a party without ponies and a merry-go-round oh goody goody goody why this is gonna be some party your guests are arriving dear why don't you go greet them happy birthday here's your present where's the kid [Music] all right our first game will be everybody's favorite musical cheers okay you march and when the music stops the one caught off the chair is out start the music march [Applause] sister you're out [Music] oh no who you gonna kiss now we know your sweet heart now we'll know your sweet heart [Music] i don't want to kiss anybody how about me no fear kissing your brother no fair [Music] good work sonny here's your prize but mama i want fair and square of course you won sweetie but you can't get the prize because it's your party it wouldn't be polite right on cowboy [Music] when i give the signal sister's gonna blow out the candles and we're all gonna sing happy birthday sister bear okay sweetie get set blow [Music] they're still lit six steal it that shows how many cubs you're gonna have when you grow up [Music] happy birthday [Music] sweetie what's the matter it's your birthday why are you so upset it isn't fair i was the first one out in musical chairs i didn't get my donkey game prize i got bounced on the ponies and sick on the merry-go-round and i don't want to have six cups i only wanna have three how about your presents you haven't opened them yet and take an ice cream we haven't had them yet either [Music] a teddy in a running suit thank you good birthday [Music] hmm goodbye goodbye thanks for coming goodbye great party goodbye terrific party i want to thank you for my birthday party papa you and mama parties are exciting sweetie and presents are lovely but your mama is right getting to be six years old is pretty important and you're going to be sick for a whole year and it's up to you to make the most of it to learn to have fun to grow in every way say i wonder how much i've grown since my last birthday let's go check on the group chart you're on let's see now wow a whole inch and a half and look at these two school papers one you did last year and one you just did talk about growth where's papa i want to show papa i'll find them mama you better come quick pop is into the leftover birthday cake oh dear you're absolutely right mama but there is such a thing as too much birthday and too much birthday cake [Music]
