thank the lord for and what to offer to him this mass [Music] remember you are praying this eucharist with many other fellow catholics during the mass stay in reverent gesture throughout the mass [Music] pray with a whole family join in prayers response and singing at the time of communion make a spiritual communion after the mass take some moments of silence to read again the scriptural us pray that the forthcoming national and local elections may truly reflect the will of the lord who guides our nation for every petition let us pray together deliver us lord deliver us lord from coercion intimidation violence and terrorism deliver us lord from dishonesty lies and all distortion of truth deliver us lord from bribery graph and all conspiracy for fraud deliver us lord from gullibility to the deceptive and blindness of perspective deliver us lord from threats intimidation and perverse language deliver us lord now let our response be hear us lord hear us lord that conscience may always be our ultimate norm hear us lord that the common good may always be our highest goal hear us lord that human dignity may be respected all the time hear us lord that the poor and son and of the holy spirit amen the lord be with you and with your spirit my dear brothers and sisters our god is a god of truth and we are gathered in this eucharist to worship the father in spirit and in truth as we journey this holy season of land let us ask the grace of god so that we may always avoid evil and do god's holy will so that we may become less unworthy to participate in the mysteries of god's love let us now humbly call to mind our sins let us ask god's forgiveness and let us entrust ourselves to god's merciful love have mercy on us oh lord for we have sinned against you show us o lord your mercy and grant us your salvation may almighty god have mercy on us forgive us our sins and bring us to everlasting life amen lord have mercy lord have mercy christ have mercy christ have mercy lord have mercy lord have mercy let us pray grant almighty god through the yearly observances of holy land that we may grow in understanding of the riches hidden in christ and by worthy conduct pursue their effects through our lord jesus christ your son who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the holy spirit god for ever and ever amen please all be seated a reading from the book of the yacht aeronaum moses spoke to the people saying [Music] the priest shall receive the basket from you and shall set it in front of the altar of the lord your god then you shall declare before the lord your god my father was a wandering aramaian who went down to egypt with a small household and lived there as an alien but there he became a nation great strong and numerous when the egyptians maltreated and oppressed us imposing hard labor upon us we cried to the lord the god of our fathers and he heard our cry and so our affliction our toil and our oppression he brought us out of egypt with a strong hand and outstretched arm with terrifying power with signs and wonders and bringing us into this country he gave us this land flowing with milk and han therefore i have now brought you the first fruits of the products of the soil which you o lord have given me and having set them before the lord your god you shall bow down in his presence the word of the lord thanks be to god [Music] be with me lord when i am in trouble [Music] you who dwell in the shelter of the most high who abide in the shadow of the almighty say to the lord my refuge and fortress my god in whom i trust [Music] no evil shall befall you nor shall affliction come near your tent for to his angels he has given command about you that they guard you in all your ways [Music] upon their hands they shall bear you up lest you dash your foot against a stone you shall thread upon the asp and the viper you shall trample down the lion and the dragon [Music] because he clings to me i will deliver him i will set him on high because he acknowledges my name he shall call upon me and i will answer him i will be with him in distress i will deliver him and glorify him [Music] a reading from the letter of saint paul to the romans brothers and sisters what does scripture say the word is near you in your mouth and in your heart that is the word of faith that we preach for if you confess with your mouth that jesus is lord and believe in your heart that god praised him from the dead you will be saved for one believes with the heart and soul is justified and one confesses with the mouth and so is saved for the scripture says no one who believes in him will be put to shame for there is no distinction between jew and greek the same lord is lord of all and reaching all who call upon him everyone who calls on the name of the lord will be saved the word of the lord thanks be to god please all stand [Music] [Applause] [Music] lord [Music] one does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes forth from the mouth of god [Music] the lord be with you and with your spirit a reading from the holy gospel according to you glory to you oh lord filled with the holy spirit jesus returned from the jordan and was led by the spirit into the desert for 40 days to be tempted by the devil he ate nothing during those days and when they were over he was hungry the devil said to him if you are the son of god command the stone to become bread [Music] jesus answered him it is written one does not live on bread alone then he took him up and showed him all the kingdoms of the world in a single instant the devil said to him i shall give to you all this power and glory for that it has been handed over to me and i may give it to whomever i wish all these will be yours if you worship me jesus said to him in reply it is written you shall worship the lord your god and him alone shall you serve then he led him to jerusalem made him stand on the parapet of the temple and said to him if you are the son of god throw yourself down from here for it is written he will command his angels concerning you to guard you and with their hands they will support you lest you dash your foot against a stone jesus said to him in reply it also says you shall not put the lord your god to the test when the devil had finished every temptation he departed from him for a time the gospel of the lord praise to you lord jesus christ please all be seated my dear brothers and sisters the devil [Music] is the father of all lies angenio [Music] is a distorted truth a lie is twisted truth [Music] no and lying is saying something that is not true in order to still deceive others anxiety [Music] if you remember the story in the book of genesis the first book of the bible when the serpent attempted eve we could very well see how the serpent the devil distorted twisted the truth [Music] [Music] that is what the devil does best to twist to distort the truth so that the truth will turn out to look like a lie and the lie will be accepted as truth and [Music] this is also the experience of jesus as we heard in our gospel today the first sunday of lent jesus was tempted by the devil [Music] and three times the devil tempted jesus three times the devil tried to twist the truth [Music] and the devil even used scriptures the word of god in order to tempt jesus he twisted the truth of the word of god in order to tempt the lord angst but you see once jesus does that he fell he falls into the trap of the devil that is distorting the truth twisting the truth my dear brothers and sisters we must always hold on to the truth [Music] because there is always a tendency for us to forget the truth that is why in our first reading today the moses gives instructions to the israelites when you enter the promised land he says to them you shall offer to god the first fruits of the land [Music] is [Music] by offering the fruits of the land they will remember the god who gave them the land the god who freed them from slavery in egypt the god who accompanied them in their journey in the desert and the god who gave them a rich land flowing with milk and honey a land they did not build a land they did not toil [Music] on by the offering that they will do they will be constantly reminded of the truth that it was god who liberated them and god who gave them their land saint paul in our second reading today brings our remembrance of the truth to a christian context saint paul tells the romans about jesus who is lord and jesus who was raised by god from the dead now we do not only need to remember this truth we have to proclaim it so that other people may believe in the truth the christians proclaim confess the truth that jesus is lord and that god raised him from the dead my dear brothers and sisters let us always remember the truth let us always proclaim the truth let us always live by the truth allah [Music] that is why he always twists and distorts the truth akita the devil distorts our understanding of life [Music] [Music] it will take some months before you could consider that alive but in the first months that is just blood kayak that is distorting the truth about life if that is not yet life then how could it grow and lumalago i may buhay you see how the devil could distort a truth the devil distorts our understanding of marriage and relationships [Music] you know by saying that we are distorting some truths if there is no forever then there is no lasting relationship if there is no forever then there is no lifelong commitment [Music] so any time that i want to get out of this relationship i will just get out anyway there is no forever or some would even say why mary why get married anyway this relationship is only temporary you see how the truth is distorted the devil also distorts our morality morality the devil tells us there is really no absolute good and absolute evil who determines what is good and what is evil [Music] very tempting but it is distorted truth ah because god is the absolute truth and so anything that is for god is truth and anything that is against god is not true the devil also distorts our concept of sin anub the devil will tell us if you do not hurt anyone you are not committing any sin [Music] agrabiado [Music] that is distorted truth about sin [Music] because even the most sacred sins that we commit affect everyone [Music] there is always a social dimension to sin the devil also distorts our idea of life on earth [Music] you only live once so enjoy going because you only live once anyway you are still young and your life is still long so enjoy [Music] that is distorted truth because who among us knows what will happen tomorrow and you know where the devil works best in our contemporary world [Music] in the social media the social media which is supposed to promote truth and goodness has become the arena of lies misinformation and evil [Music] social media number of likes and shares [Music] [Music] [Music] you know my dear brothers and sisters every time we believe in distorted and twisted truth the devil wins and every time we ourselves distort the truth twists the truth we become the devil [Music] but we are not demons we are not minions of satan we are children of god and god is truth and so my dear brothers and sisters this season of land let one of our penances our sacrifices be to hold on to what is true okay [Music] my dear brothers and sisters every day we are like jesus we are tempted we confront a battle between truth and lies between good and evil between god and the devil are [Music] a let us pray that like jesus we may never allow the devil to win antimony please all stand let us all together profess our faith i believe in god the father almighty creator of heaven and earth and in jesus christ this only son our lord who was conceived by the holy spirit born of the virgin mary suffered under pontius pilate was crucified died and was buried he descended into hell on the third day he rose again from the dead he ascended into heaven and he seated at the right hand of god the father almighty from there he will come to judge the living and the dead i believe in the holy spirit the holy catholic church the communion of saints the forgiveness of sins the resurrection of the body and life everlasting amen the gospel tells us that our lord went to face the temptations in the wilderness filled with the holy spirit let us pray to the father filled with that same spirit of strength and confidence for every petition let us say lord hear our prayer lord hear our prayer that led by the pope and bishops the pilgrim church may proclaim the word that is the faith let us pray to the lord lord hear our prayer that all peoples may share equally in the abundance of the fruits of the earth let us pray to the lord lord hear our prayer that men and women with moral weaknesses may receive the grace to resist the tactics of the devil let us pray to the lord lord lord hear our prayer we pray for all who are sick especially those afflicted with govid19 and for those who care for them may the vaccines and medicines as well as our concern for each other help and this pandemic let us pray to the lord lord lord hear our prayer that our dead may dwell forever in the shelter of the most high let us pray to the lord lord lord hear our prayer we continue to implore the intercession of the blessed virgin mary our lady of fatima and saint john paul ii for peace in the world especially between ukraine and russia we also pray for our personal petitions and the people who need our prayers we also pray for all the intentions offered in this mass [Music] father of mercy you gather us here to offer the atoning sacrifice of your son we ask you to hear the prayers which the holy spirit inspires us to make through christ our lord amen peace all be seated [Music] [Music] oh [Music] we are um [Music] [Music] oh is [Music] please all stand pray brothers and sisters that my sacrifice and yours may become acceptable to god the almighty father may the lord accept the sacrifice at your hands for the praise and glory of his name for our good and the good of all his holy church give us the right dispositions o lord we pray to make these offerings for with them we celebrate the beginning of this venerable and sacred time through christ our lord amen the lord be with you and with your spirit lift up your hearts we lift them up to the lord let us give thanks to the lord our god it is right and just it is truly right and just our jude and our salvation always and everywhere to give you thanks lord holy father almighty and eternal god through christ our lord by abstaining 40 long days from earthly food he consecrated through his fast the pattern of our lenten observance and by overturning all the snares of the ancient serpent taught us to cast out the leaven of malice so that celebrating worthily the paschal mystery we might pass over at last to the eternal paschal feast and so with the company of angels and saints we sing the hymn of your praise as without end we acclaim holy holy holy lord god of hosts heaven and earth are full of your glory hosanna in the highest blessed is he who comes in the name of the lord hosanna in the highest please o'neil you therefore almighty father be blessed through jesus christ your son who comes in your name he himself is the word that brings salvation the hand you extend to sinners the way by which your peace is offered to us when we ourselves are turned away from you on account of our sins you brought us back to be reconciled o lord so that converted at last to you we might love one another through your son whom for our sake you handed over to death and now celebrating the reconciliation christ has brought us we entreat you sanctify these gifts by the outpouring of your spirit that they may become the body and blood of your son whose command we fulfill when we celebrate these mysteries for when about to give his life to set us free as he reclined that supper he himself took bread into his hands and giving you thanks he said the blessing broke the bread and gave it to his disciples saying take this all of you and eat of it for this is my body which will be given up for you in a similar way on that same evening he took the chalice of blessing in his hands confessing your mercy and gave the chalice to his disciples saying take this all of you and drink from it for this is the chalice of my blood the blood of the new and eternal covenant which will be poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins do this in memory of me please understand the mystery of faith when we eat this bread and drink this cup we proclaim your death o lord until you come again celebrating therefore the memorial of the death and resurrection of your son who left us this pledge of his love we offer you what you have bestowed on us the sacrifice of perfect reconciliation holy father we humbly beseech you to accept us also together with your son and in this saving banquet graciously to endow us with this very spirit who takes away everything that estranges us from one another may he make your church a sign of unity and an instrument of your peace among all people and may he keep us in communion with francis our pope and jose our bishop and all the bishops and your entire people just as you have gathered us now at the table of your son so also bring us together with the glorious virgin mary mother of god with blessed joseph her spouse with your blessed apostles and all the saints with our brothers and sisters and those of every race and tongue who have died in your friendship bring us to share with them the unending banquet of unity in a new heaven and a new earth where the fullness of your peace will shine forth in christ jesus our lord through him and with him and in him oh god almighty father in the unity of the holy spirit all glory and honor is yours
