Step 1 of the Ariel Atom refurbish is done

oh you got full Egypt it's just pop around all right so we're actually making this intro not before the video but after the video and because some of the things we didn't enter before didn't work out so some of the things I'm talking about doing are already done don't notice that stuff so we're learning a lot about the car the guy the guy contacted us who previously owned it now so what it was was a guy having to throw a while maybe a year or two drove around a lot of fun stuff he sold it on bring a trailer and the guy won't bring a trailer owned it for a very short period of time we've never contacted him so we still have no idea actually what happened to it although we are learning a lot of stuff today what we want to do I'm still trying to get a baseline of what's going on with this car and what we're gonna put some gauges in here I'll wake up we got the edge edge inside gate which plugs into obd2 we're going to get that connected I'm gonna put a boost gauge in and we're going to change the change the plugs and we're the new mass airflow sensor and then we want to get some baselines and run some zero to 60s and see where we're at and then see what we got to do next and one thing that I figured out about the car and I'm still learning more I want to contact the company is this little guy right here this master lube this is actually a from what from what we can see what we could tell that's actually a system that pre lubricates the engine before you start it and then also keeps pressure in there when you're accelerating really hard so if you're pulling hard gd's you know sideways or whatever that's can help keep the engine lubricated they say 80% of the engines where it's from the initial cold start so that's supposed to solve that problem pretty cool thing tell a little gauge down here I have no idea how do you have how it works I am trying to contact the company makes it master Lu and hopefully they'll spin it to me so the subway sometime let's get to work now most atoms actually don't have that that extra row bar P oh I don't know why they don't have it I guess it's an option I I really like having it how would I actually feel a little more comfortable if it had pieces coming down like this you know kind of like the Ariel nomad but you know most people drive the way it is I guess there's very little chances of you flipping it it's so little ground away so little [Music] so what I want to do is I want to get in here look what we're missing it is two two screws right here there's one right there if I take that off that you feel take this whole piece off I should be able to access these spark plugs [Music] so try to get to the plugs this this is all one piece to right here I don't want to take this piece off because there's no clearance to get it back in there it's basically touching the shock right there it's not just up its basement so I don't even know how to get that thing out I could get it out but can I get it back in okay maybe just rock it okay that will do it that with it alright so I was able to remove this just enough to get to the coil packs and now I'm gonna check the little spark plugs out so there you go if I need to be replaced it's pretty bad of course it was working [Music] let's see if they all look that bad all right here's the ones that were taken out replacing with some new ones all right so I'm no mechanic I'm no uh no Mike Waller of working on anything but I do know that when you're putting in spark plugs you don't start with a drill don't even finish with a drill get them in nice and snug by hand and then you want to put you're gonna tighten them down to the proper torque specs I'm just gonna make a snug metal a little bit more but the last thing you want to do is strip nice to strip that because then you gotta yank the whole head off there's anything you don't want to strip [Music] so another thing I wanted to do with replace the mass airflow sensor we got a goofy coat then doing a little bit stuttering this is a little GM with a good-looking credit card massive mass airflow sensor it's right here it's very easy to put in it wasn't very expensive some whatever we'll throw one in CFC if that up solve that problem I know this is kind of throwing throwing parts at it that's okay I'm fine with that as a cheap part I keep on forgetting that everything on the car is metric and everything on the the motor is standard kind of so it took 3.5 milimeter millimeter allen key I didn't have that so I used it works sometimes in a pinch you can get it you may a Torx bit it's not super tight there's a lot even a um you see how this one has a green little rubber gasket this one doesn't have one and then I thought okay must've stayed on the on the intake but no it didn't so when you're working on cars sometimes you drop stuff there's nothing better than when you drop it and you hear it pinging and hit the ground when it does hit the ground you shake the car a bunch of times hope it falls down all right so now we got the spark plugs with the mast new mass airflow sensor and now what we're going to do with I'm trying to find a place to tap into the to tap in the boost gauge let me show you what we got going on here so if you guys know should be : SS you know what this we're looking at this is your intake manifold this is your supercharger right here and I've got to find someplace to tap into it that's post that's like past the intake manifold and I don't know whether if I can just tap it in the face right there but I don't know I've got no idea I believe I'm gonna tap into this one right here so let's tap into that and see if it works [Music] whose gauge dangling over here coming to here is kind of just more just to get it done and then it comes to the boots gauge so we'll take all this stuff off the car take that stuff out and throw Caleb in it I'm just gonna see if it actually works I know it's not it's not pretty but it's functional just like me it's gonna get it help why don't maybe it's maybe it's not functional in us see it's also maybe put some on top of that all right listen pill I know you've not driven in the same car with me that is the last party art debacle find you just suit up man up and we got to take the app for a real quick spin to see if the boost gauge is working here Oh so this is supposed to be the same thing intake manifold pressure this is always good this is like this is going to include barometric pressure so it's a different number than what we're going so looks like we're getting like stock but depending who you talk to stock is 12 to 15 pounds I or 12 pounds we're at about 12 pounds written the stock amount of boosts is being pushed out so this thing's probably around like 215 horsepower Madeleine I'm just know let's right there so now I get this thing mounted up and how you gonna mount it do something over here oh you met on the knee right there that's put it out all right so we established that it kind of works now I had the fish I had to fish the line down through there Thursday I'll send it out there and then we'll make it all nice and clean and then we'll get it all mounted up so what I was able to do I ran a line up here and then from the backside of the the firewalk went and grabbed it but it wasn't the line we actually needed so now I'm gonna take this line but this line and using us like a fish and then I'm gonna pull it through [Music] alright so that was pour down rain I'm in the passenger side now you can see I got the boost gauge semi installed let's go to make sure it's nice and clean I got the hose running down here I got to ramp the whole way up I was gonna say firewall but it's on a firewall my way up past their best of steering parts and then tuck it all in so all you can see it's the nice free gauge now depending on where you're sitting cattle say the top makes it like a little top if you can't see but both of it you can see it's all very invisible I know you looking for that right there and then I'm gonna plug it in to the to the lights so when you turn the lights on fry plugging in this switch fairly easily we're gonna turn the lights on that comes on all right this is what I love that working on this car instead of and we've all done this instead of getting upside down with your feet up here climbing and underneath that and trying to work on stuff I just three bolts take the hood piece off take the nose cone off and everything's right here what I'm doing right now it's finishing up plumbing the boost gauge it's like I got the line running from here coming up here coming up here and then getting run up here you know get plumbed in with air or whatever then be nice and nice and talked away so you can't see any hose or single line and then I got a final spot to tap in to the light switch which should be somewhere up there we'll see how that goes now Michael makeshift thing when I was using yesterday with a tee fitting I tried to use it as an elf fitting I just kind of cap this off and that broke off that may give me that get rid of this everybody's one of these it will jump into both sides and then when I cut this off there yeah I'm just going a little tiny all right so the boost gauge is in there tucked away nice and clean there we go can't see from this angle but you can see it from when you're sitting in there now what I want to do is I want to make because I am going to keep this edge gauge I do like it I'm gonna take this cowl off I want to move that back in there a little bit so it's not gonna get hit with any rain or any outside stuff and so I'm that knuckles are not touching it and then we'll get the wire somehow we'll figure out a way to get the wire nice and tucked back in there for dangling around [Music] so it looks like I might have to put a hole in here because there is a very convenient little cap right there so just pull that out and I'll run the up relocate so neither side of a wire whether this side or the obd2 side will fit through a little hole it's we're gonna make it a little bit bigger this we're gonna fit that wire through all right so now we got the proper size hole in there that thing fits through we're gonna pop this thing off with that back enough debris maybe two inches and then for everything back together [Music] all right so as you can see we got the edge insight install it's nice and tucked away in there very cool nope how big all right yeah super this all right so moving this is the other stuff in scope words yokel get your mail-order bride Asia I assume oh you got full Egypt it's just bubble wrap I don't know just keep walking around like you're gonna stab someone with it will actually I don't stab these fool with it yes coolkid let's go that's pretty sweet with it all right so we were going to get these and dude that carbon fiber look so what's it Vidia fifties off you know hold up a second I'll put some lights on this [Music] at the perfect fit [Music] that's cool that's freakish so we that really like wraps it up it did look very unfinished without without this beat that it's so perfect and then we just got a drill those little holes and put two little up put the fat quick manner that's awesome all right it's coming together you know what I was kind of gonna hold off on that front splitter it's gonna wear it right now yeah yeah like it makes the car I need it yeah you guys should go with carbon fiber oh heck yeah sounds current thing about painting it looks cool black dude the all-black was just like the little orange what was crazy yeah it looks like so I love it like hard I was gonna I was go do it like a rep saw a rep Saltine what's that you know like ZZ oh yeah that's pretty cool but it's kind of uh it's kind of doing its own thing with this black and the carbon fiber looks pretty good all right so we got those pieces on we got some new gauges in we got the boost gauge in next week actually this week we are taking these things in a down you know where to see where it will just have a power gonna put down on this thing and get the new tires put on we're gonna run a baseline zero to sixty and we got
