Why Harley Davidsons can Last forever

guys showing in from SRK cycles we have a that's the fiber for 2008 let's just say 2005 2005 harley-davidson ultra classic and this bike has 84,000 miles on it and I'm gonna reveal to you guys what only the Hartley service techs know about bikes like this let's jump into it let's do a test drive this blag yes this dude's been in the Harley ownership group this like that at least a hundred thousand miles on it Wow a Harley ownership group flag can look like that an American flag cannot don't let your American flag look like that it's disrespectful alright turn that thing 84 three six seven and I'm have to put another couple miles on you know what I feel like I'm being a part of something bigger than myself putting miles on a bike like this well goofy all right guys let's do the words of wisdom proverbs 31:30 charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting when a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised amen amen now this is the 88 twin cam motor these are our tag stuff what we do is we run them along the lower fork tubes especially the Harley Davidsons the very strong piece and then the suspension gets kind of bounce around as I wants to you can see with tuned it with two straps I'm shaking the bike it's moving the trailer and my truck this thing's not going anywhere which if you don't know that the 88 swing cam mower can do hundreds of thousands of miles you're crazy because they can't just look it up they've run forever yeah they've had a few they had a few things issues main thing being the cam cam chain tensioner not a huge deal you had a huge deal you just buy now an eighty four thousand miles I cam chain tensors been changed maybe twice there's also uh you can get rid of the whole can of chain and just do a cam gear from S&S which is cool which makes it actually gains a little more power because they're not taking them with resistance from it all right so here's the thing there's a lot of people that think that what's the point of that well with these things pulled in that way all right ladies do behind with PEG they're put on wrong a lot of people think that Oh Harley Davidsons they can't they can't do that many miles they break down all time or think they have a bad reputation I don't know where I came from maybe it's because there's so many Harley Davidsons out there compared to the Eldar of motorcycles out there it's like like 50% 50% of bikes register on the road or the Harley Davidson then the next highest number is 14 in the engine in America and that's Honda and it trickles down from that so maybe you have so mean you can have as many Honda's that are on the road you got that many Harley's breakdown and Harley would still have a great reputation of being longevity bikes statistically but when you see it you're like ah okay Harley got broken down there's tons of them out there and you have no idea how many miles are on these bikes I've I sold more triple digit Harley's than any other bike including gold wings not that they can't all do it but they can when you talk to a third all depends on you talk to when you talk to the service guys ask the service guy being how many miles are on your Harley they all have high mileage Harley Davidsons because they know it's the best bang you can get for your buck and it's it's a bike it's just what if what is a motorcycle metal and plastic metal and a little bit of rubber it's anything fixable anything is changeable and this bike is actually I think it's a one-owner bike we have a big stack of paperwork back there they've never actually been in the motor like you know it's not there's never been any major engine OVA overhaul and it doesn't need it it still runs are great but all the maintenance has been done the bike if the guy have maintained it and I know a lot of people think you're like oh it's expensive to maintain a Harley trust me trust me on this one there are bikes that are way more expensive to maintain than Harley also known as Ducati try maintaining a Ducati Ducati's don't even have to break down for you to spend thousands and thousands of dollars maintaining it and I'm not bashing Ducati that's just how it is now if toughing told they're getting better that's cool but I'm not bashing sukhani that's just a their stuff it's like KTM their stuff is strong very tight and to keep the maintain that performance you got a you got to keep it too now when it comes to Harley a just like if you put a hundred thousand miles on your car the way you think you did that with just changing the oil probably not unless you have a drive like it 7-3 power stroke like myself represent power stroke so you take a bike like this someone put a lot of money into it so I'm gonna kept it maintained and if you're gonna get up you're gonna you know you save a lot of money hey every time when you put a new part on this one now you have a part with zero miles instead of the one you bought with 30,000 miles and now his parts got 30,000 miles line I don't know there's different ways of looking at it my personal Road King has one down on a 118 on it now it's an 88 cubic inch it runs like a top I love it it leaks a little it's got a little drip I don't know where it's coming from but like just right on to the exhaust manifold if I smell a little bit of oil while I'm riding it okay awesome I'm trying it like 150 on it but I never get a chance to ride it so it might never happen but miles don't scare me and you and talk to talk them talk to them the mechanic miles don't scare them - I've actually found that the cheapest way for me to maintain and service the Harley's that I get in was to take them to a Harley dealership I know it sounds crazy but one their labor rates is very competitive their labor is absolutely competitive but compare that to a guy whose labor is ten bucks cheaper an hour so what you have a job that's five hours you say fifty bucks you say fifty bucks but is he using Harley parts is he and it's my biggest issue is does he know how to fix it but does he know how to troubleshoot the problem I have had bike said that between me and another guy we spent fifty five hundred bucks in a bike trying to fix the problem and most of that are a lot of that was from a non Harley mechanic punycode Harlan Mechanica tries out of good deals if you like you know some guys a treat you're right that understands that hey I got a I got a bike with a eighty thousand miles on it then I gotta try to push a new bike down your throat every time you go in there storms are common never month this is my 10th so this bike runs great I would absolutely be fine with taking this bike on a big trip brand-new cars break down two guys brand-new car my buddy worked for BMW he doesn't spend all this time working on 30 year old BMWs he spends all this time working on 2017-2018 a brand new cars so the whole reliability thing it's a fallacy it really it really is and I don't just like you don't see me bright in a brand new car you know I mean the vehicle I just bought us almost three hundred thousand miles on it I'm gonna take it to the beach cuz I love it man is like a sweet coupler for your cup I think that's ugly it's anything it's chrome I even feel black I think would be better which is some cheap chrome so you could always take that off this thing's got cruise control all the amenities you could ever need and I like the ultra classic alright guys if you want to hang with me I'm gonna my take me a bit to get through this traffic light I'm like get on it a little bit so I haven't done yet you know what I'm just gonna get I'm gonna jump off this exit right here forget these traffic lights let's hurry right here I'm in first gear or something that baby is common it's a good smooth ride I'm doing 70 I can get away with 70 and at 65 my pans are not over 3,000 rpm feel good let's go guys and I don't buy another whole thing where you need a six feet it's all about the final drive for the final the final drive ratio it's not that different but some guys you know it's like all six beats better and I mean the Goldwing was a five beat until 2018 both a single one speed because it's it the ever power II don't need it and they're right here I'm cruising if I want to get up to the speed limit I just roll onto it ma'am let's try first the trough that's that that's all this way it's coming on I forget it said as you push it in or what man I don't know I'm not sure if I don't know how to do it normally if that comes on and you're good did I get it no I want to figure that later order the work I don't a faker I've been telling everyone about it I'm a horrible wreck that a guy had and his foot was so shredded up they look like a zombie movie like I saw so much bone it was insane wear your gear I'm Kara hottest it's too hot to wear gear there's too happy to ride but wear proper gear you got to be ready yeah I be ready in case something happens to ride another day I might be sweating a little bit
