Steam Deck Decky Loader setup Guide

if you want to install wallpapers plugins themes and more to your steam deck then this is the right video hey guys how's it going TG geek back here again I have another tutorial for you guys today and today's tutorial is installing and getting Dey loader for the steam deck setup Dey loader allows you to do tons of things from wallpapers themes plugins and just overall customize and personalize your steam deck to the key viewers obviously stuff's different different location so if anything isn't quite as polished as it normally is uh you know I'm still getting lights and just everything try you know trying to get everything set up how it was so bear with me for the next couple videos but first of all you want to make sure you have your steam deck looks like mine just decided to update out of nowhere so uh let's let it do that I guess so first of all you just want to make sure you your steam deck and mine just updated out of nowhere so you know make sure it's updated and whatnot first step is put your steam deck in desktop mode a lot of steam deck owners should be aware if how to do this but if not you can press the steam button go down to power click on power and it's in there or better yet hold the power button and it's in there so we're going to switch to desktop mode all right so we're on desktop mode we have the cursor here and while it may be easier for some people to hook up a keyboard and mouse to do this you do not need any keyboard and mouse for this entire setup process just use the onboard trackpad so there's a few different browsers for the steam deck if you don't have a browser you're going to want to go to this little discover software Center and then in order to bring up the keyboard you hit Steam and x and then you can search for Chrome Firefox uh you know Firefox is right here so you just click on it whenever you're done with the keyboard away and that's how you get a browser but once you have your browser installed see I have a few to choose from down here you pick your browser and then we're going to just look up Dey loader so we have the GitHub for Dey loader we can go to that and then there's this nice big download button that's what we're after right there and then uh it says that the installer is done so we can click on that and then this will install Dei continue sure let's do release you can do pre-release if you want a uh possibly unstable version that might give you more features all right and now it's downloading Dei but I'm going get back at you guys once this is done so once the Dey load installer finishes you'll get this prompt and it says installer cannot be closed you can press okay and then we're basically done as far as the desktop portion unless there's more apps that you want to install or more stuff you want to do over here it's time to go back to gaming mode all right so once your steam deck reboots everything should you know look semi-normal you can press your little three dots options button over here and if you scroll down there's a new tab with a plug that says Dei that you know wasn't there before so that means that the installer obviously worked so we can click on this little icon here that looks like a store doesn't look like it's focusing that well but you guys can see that and then there's just an absolute variety of things from audio to visual to wall papers just all sorts of things now this one right here adds a Bluetooth menu to this little side tab right here which I'm actually pretty interested in so let's hit install and then now we have Bluetooth right here which that's actually pretty sick I do like that one and then one that I see lots and lots of people using is this one CCS loader spell that one CCS loader allows you to uh put themes and whatnot on your steam deck so this is a theme that puts the icons at the bottom and the artwork and this big thing at the top so let's try this one so this is what it looks like normally and then we can go to plugin select a profile new profile let's give it a name create outrun turn on run refresh so as you can see the accent colors and everything are now different so you have footer border button colors font all sorts of different things so let's just go back to the shop and see what else we can find so this one right here allows you to get custom boot animations without buying them from Steam through the uh steam Point shop so let's see how that one works so it just has whether you know boots to spin what animation you want to use and then you click manage animations and here's just an absolute ton of animations it really is fascinating how like well they've gotten this to integrate with the steam deck it you know doesn't require any complicated side loading or anything it feels almost like it is a shop that is like native to the steam deck like everything just works really really great and it's all just built into this plugins tab right here so it's not super intrusive and you can find it easily but this Bluetooth one is genuinely helpful so that you don't have to go into your actual Settings app to get to Bluetooth this is something that valve should have added a long time ago but I digress and there's even some interesting tools such as freeloader and free games that simply give you notifications about every free game on a platform like epic games which is super interesting if you mostly play on your steam deck it'll pop up and let you know whenever there's a free game and this one's really cool this one on the page for the game that you're about to play it has the how long to beat time let's install that one so we have how long to beat for deck default so let's see what that looks like going to go to cyberp punk and then here's the how long to beat main story 24.8 hours main plus extra 60.9 hours that's actually pretty cool I don't know if I'm going to leave it turned on or not but yeah the entire decky loader storefront is filled with just stuff like this like and the Bluetooth one as well they just allow you to customize your steam deck make it your own and uh do different wallpapers themes colors whatever so that is how you can set up decky loader on your steam deck personalize your steam deck and make it you know truly your own hope this video helps you guys out and that's all for me I'm out peace
