hello guys crisp here welcome back to another video in this one my friends I'm gonna be testing a GeForce RTX 4070 TI in Starfield this one is the palette game Rock midnight Kaleidoscope version of the card we are running it with the latest NVIDIA drivers and I'm not manually overclocking it you can see all of its specs right here in Tech powerups GPU Z resizable bar is also enabled and over on the left preparing it with a ryzen 7 5800x3d and 32 gigabytes of RAM let's get into it shall We Alright guys here we are and let's play that guess the settings game a little bit shall we before I reveal what settings we're playing on right now uh so it's getting like 60s 60 to 70 frames per second most of the time it drops into the lower 60s from what I've seen like on top of there I'm gonna go there to show you guys there we go look in this Direction look at that 62 frames per second oh my God is this intensive all right have you commented down below what settings you think this is and and what resolution ah this is 1080p Ultra it's 1080p resolution on the 4070 TI getting 60 to 70 FPS as I said it will drop into the 50s sometimes if the action hits up a little bit I'm gonna try to shoot more people and show you that but this is absolutely unacceptable I still can't understand how people are defending the damn game in my 30 60 video saying that it's all the 3060s fault it's a crap GPU it's released like three years ago it was bad when it launched well this is a 4070 TI at 1080p resolution this usually does 60 FPS easily at 4K even with rate racing enabling like the LSS quality at the same time and 60 plus no issues whatsoever it performs very similarly to the last Generations 3090 TI okay while consuming way less power so that's great but performance wise it is a beast okay and it's 1080p guys okay I just loaded another game here maybe we can kill more people this time I think yes yes nobody is dead thankfully so we we can shoot a ton of people right now and uh cause Mayhem a little bit here also the motion blur is enabled it's not the worst implementation of motion blur actually so I'll take it uh where where are the actual okay that is security robot goodbye come on come on I wish I had more bullets in this weapon though okay CPU usage is going up at times and GP utilization is starting to fluctuate at 1080P and looking in this direction once again we're fully GPU bound getting the same 60s to 70s most of the time how insane is that dude oh my gosh okay now this isn't really the ultra settings preset the ultra settings preset sets the resolution scale to 75 which is absolutely ridiculous 75 right there I'm just gonna disable the dynamic resolution so it doesn't change while we're playing the game and we know that it's always at 75 percent and well with 75 resolutions scale we're seeing like 70s over here we gained about 10 frames per second which should be enough to put us above 60 FPS the entire time okay ngpu usage is again slightly fluctuating there at 1080p res but this is this is not acceptable this is not even native resolution anymore you know if you asked me how many FPS I thought that 470 TI would get at 1080p 75 resolution scale using fsr2 in Starfield I would have told you like what 75 that's so stupid why would you use that at 1080p with a GPU like this and I would say maybe like a 150 frames per second now we're getting basically half of that well 116 in the menu now what if you want to play on high settings instead of ultra yeah a brand new thousand dollar GPU almost can't really do ultra so let's try high high actually sets the resolution scale to 62 percent which I am not gonna be putting up with okay that looks terrible super soft and no just no all right and like this we can achieve pretty much the same FPS as we were seeing before on all three settings now GPU usage is maxed out the entire time because some of the settings were CPU intensive apparently on Ultra and uh yeah it gets around the same FPS as Ultra with 80 or 75 percent actually resolution scale it's a little bit more stable of an experience even looks basically the same so I think you should play on high instead of ultra it's stupid once again for such an expensive GPU to only be playing this game consistently above 60 FPS on high and Native 1080p but hey it is what it is 2023 my friends and at least the game doesn't stutter whatsoever so that is great and kind of a breath of fresh air compared to everything that we've seen so far but again for the visuals this performance is not justified whatsoever like look at this water here just take a look at this one it has some ripples yes but Red Dead Redemption 2 has 10 times better looking water than this even GTA 5 I think from 2013 has better looking water than this it's time now for us to bump it up to 1440p and I'll need to restart the game for that and set it in the desktop because we can't really change it here without going into windowed mode so I'll be back very soon alright back to it 1440p my friends is dropping from 60 frames per second at high this is the recommended or targeted resolution for the 470 TI and it actually provides High refresh rate experiences in most games and even in cyberpunk with rate racing enabled it gets around these FPS you know I believe maybe with vlss but maybe without I don't remember but I have that video in the Channel with rate racing enabled which is extremely intensive it gets around 60 frames per second if I'm remembering correctly how is it possible that the game is so broken that on a thousand dollar GPU it gets 60 frames per second and again some people actually told me that the 5800x3d was bottlenecking to 3060 when I made that video because performance was so terrible that it could only be the terrible AMD CPU you know 5800x3d what the heck is that crap it's only the best CPU from last generation but yeah no it's not it's not even bottlenecking this one on high at least on Ultra it did slightly at 1080p but is 1440. so no it's not a CPU it runs like Raph because it's optimized like crap that's it that's it it's not a gpu's fault it's it's not the driver's fault it's not the vendor's fault it's just the developer's fault for this terrible optimization now is it playable yes it is you can play it with 60s FPS average with some drops here and there into the 50s at high settings in 1440p I wish we could do it at Ultra in 60 plus all of the time that would be reasonable right maybe with 75 percent that's possible resolution scale I'm just gonna disable Dynamic resolution there um yeah no not really ultra settings with 75 resolution scale still drops from 60. okay goodbye goodbye did not bother me look at this 50s mid 50s and lower 50s at times no CPU bottleneck again I gotta mention that a lot of times like a lot of people are just they don't know how this works I guess but I have been testing gpus for a really long time I know what I'm doing okay anyway yeah 53 52 yeah 40s oh my God dudes no freaking way this is 75 resolution scale at 1440b it's not even a hundred percent what the actual hell 100 percent is around the same as well right like yeah 40s maybe a little bit worse yeah okay definitely a little bit worse dropping into the 30s now so around five to seven less FPS here with 100 resolution scale is this except for a 40 70 purse saying oh it's an x-gen title now okay I get it it's an ex-gen title it should be more intensive than previous gen titles I guess but it shouldn't be this much more intensive and especially with this kind of graphics and we still haven't managed to get 60 plus all of the time maybe High settings with uh 80 resolution scale will do that I'm just gonna disable motion blur finally sorry I have been forgetting to disable it and I'm just so baffled at the performance that wow okay anyway High settings 80 resolution scale looks really good here with fsr2 in this game you can see that it's a little bit softer but it's passable getting 70s sometimes touching 80s also remember this is one of the most intensive areas at least in the early game because there's a ton of vegetation it's a big city a lot of buildings and a lot of NPCs shooting each other and so on yeah it gets intensive 70. hello there that one is you know what what if I shoot something right next to a per like the water no doesn't even Flinch dude see see what I mean I'm sorry so I didn't mean to to hit you actually yes [ __ ] what are you doing why'd you run there oh my gosh it's all good let me just see the FPS from here look in that direction 69s yeah I I guess it won't really drop from 60 unless you come across a really intensive scenario like a spaceship Landing with a lot of smoke effects and fire effects around you uh while shooting at the enemies and stuff like that maybe then it's gonna drop into like the low 60s I don't see it dropping into the 1850s using these settings it's a damn big shame that you need to to lower resolution scale and it's also a damn big shame that the game doesn't support the LSS there are mods already available though but I'm gonna wait for an official one but usually dlss gives you similar performance to fsr2 but it looks better it's about it for the high settings in 1440p what if you really really want native resolution all of the time and 60 plus well then you'll need to drop it down to the medium settings yes it still says fsr2 by the way way but it's just applying the sharpening filter over native resolution it drops FPS by one or two it doesn't really matter compared to Native res that is so yeah let's try it like this for a little bit and yeah I need to load the game again because it crashed it's getting lower 60s already at 1440p Native with medium settings now granted medium settings look basically the same as high which look basically the same as Ultra in this game there's only a big difference in visual Fidelity coming from low to medium everything else is very similar ah but yeah once again I expected a bit better performance on medium and Native resolution at 1440p like this is medium it's it also in terms of power using of the cards I'm seeing way lower results in this game than in other games maybe again it's probably down to optimization once again but I've seen the same thing happening with the GTX 1060 it's a 120 watt GPU it was consuming around 80 watts in this game 3060 as well it's a 170 Watts GPU and it was consuming like 120 watts this one usually consumes like 280 Watts somewhere around that and it's down to like 200 to 220 at 1080p it was even lower anyway yeah medium settings is Gonna Get You 60 plus all of the time at Native 1440p okay lastly I set it to 3840 by 2160 4K resolution we're playing at ultra settings with 100 resolution scale gonna disable motion blur and that's about it Dynamic resolution is also turned off remember when I said that this GPU could do 60 plus FPS or around 60fps yes with Ray tracing at 4K well this doesn't have rage racing and it's getting 30 to 40. that's how bad this is oh boy all right there we go there we go we can do this yes you can still shoot people down well punch people down look at this 30s will it drop from 30 though I believe it dropped quite a lot in this direction right when we went here at 1440p now it's it's pretty stable around 30 to 40 most of the time vram usage is pretty low as well for 4K so at least that you know so it's playable even at 4K but it's definitely not ideal this is not what I'd want so I'm gonna drop the render resolution down to 75 percent again that's the default for ultra settings and now it gets much closer to 60 frames per second good thing is at 4K resolution 75 resolution scale with fsr2 actually looks really good okay not gonna lie it might actually look better than native 4K without any FSR whatsoever and 100 resolution scale because at Native resolution it is quite soft and here we're playing at a low resolution than native but then it's applying the sharpness of fsr2 and it actually looks really good I wouldn't really have a problem playing with fsr2 at 75 percent at 4K resolution guys and I am using it for 32 inch monitor for this sometimes I can see a little bit of pixelation right here for example if I move further away from this I can see like little squares little pixels there but it's it's not it's very minor yeah it's still not 60 FPS though but it's it's getting there we're still on the ultra settings preset after all so dropping it down too high should fix it at like 75 percent once again ah we only gained like six frames per second so still not enough to get 60 plus all of the time I really want 60 plus all of the time dude I'm gonna try my best here let's lower it down to medium and you know what I'm gonna try medium settings the preset without motion blur this that's 50 resolution scale and this is 4K remember that 50 resolution scale at 4K actually looks pretty bad so imagine at 1080P and 1440p it's it's it's not good it's not good whatsoever anyway using these settings it actually gets US 60 plus all of the time near 80 frames per second on average I guess so not not terrible it feels really smooth compared to everything that we've seen so far but once again 50 is just not great you lose a ton of detail but about a hundred percent resolution scale at 1080p for 4K medium pretty much the same FPS as we saw at Ultra with 75 so I would definitely pick Ultra over this with 75 resolution scale let's see medium with 75 resolution scale please please give me 60 play okay there we go finally we found it we found the settings for 60 plus FPS all of the time at 4K whatever you do don't go to low settings that's that's the main thing okay if you drop it down too low you just lose way too much quality yes the FPS are going to be improved but I wouldn't do it a lot of people say that this looks like a 2015 title I wouldn't go that far you know but definitely doesn't look next gen back here again with a lot of vegetation people shooting at us as well one there we go yeah okay it's definitely gonna drop from 60 still since we're seeing like 60 FPS flat right there ah but I yeah I wouldn't drop it further than this maybe maybe to 70 60 let's do 69 render scaling okay all right that gives us a good few more FPS compared to previously I can notice that it's a bit more shimmery at the distance for example right there you can see the shimmering there I can see that it's more pixelated as well and softer actually makes quite a big difference those six percent resolution that we um decrease right now hey this is the way to get 60 plus all of the time that's been it for this one thank you very much for watching this video let me know down in the comments what you expected coming from the 4070 TI again this is not CPU round you can see GPU usage is at 99 pretty much all of the time aside from like 1080p Ultra previously with resolution scale especially but uh yep the game is just that intensive guys catch you the next one very soon as always love you all bye
