[Music] thank you hello everyone and welcome to another video now today we're seeing how Starfield runs on the developer stated minimum system requirements Bethesda suggest a ryzen 5 2600x or i7 6800k 16 gigs of RAM and an RX 5700 or GTX 1070ti the game should also be installed on an SSD I've gone down the ryzen road for today's one as I believe the am4 is the more accessible and affordable platform these days I've also opted for the 1070 TI instead of the 5700 as nvidia's card is on paper the weaker of the two so it'll be interesting to see how it holds up this is an 8 gigabyte graphics card that should work well with the 2600x in a wide range of games but with Starfield targeting 30 FPS on both Xbox consoles I don't have too much confidence in this machine but let's see how it goes my game is installed on this Kingston nv2 SSD a very affordable storage solution and as I said in the previous video I recommend no less than one terabyte for any build in 2023 Starfield alone uses more than 100 gigabytes the game will build shaders on first launch and depending on your Hardware the time it takes to do this will vary the bar crawled along for a couple of minutes before finalizing fairly quickly once it was passed the halfway point during this time it's not uncommon to see 100 CPU usage but don't worry this should settle down once this step is completed as my specs are based on the minimum suggested I am going to start with the lowest settings which includes fsr2 upscaling and dynamic resolution scaling set to 50 by default believe me when I say that this is your best chance of getting somewhat close to 60 FPS but only insert in areas and visually we have sacrificed well pretty much everything as you can see here I've stuck to the early stages of the game for the footage to avoid story spoilers and as always it's very early days for Starfield itself performance may be subject to change over time during this very early sequence and battle with space pirates our frame rate with the minimum system requirements sat between 40 and 60 FPS sticking closer to the former as the action heated up it's playable for sure but the low render resolution may take its toll on your eyes after a while it does seem however like the GPU is the primary limitation and the 2600x is more than enough for this game at least out here in the open 16 gigs of RAM also seems like enough I haven't recorded exact averages and percentile lows because performance is to be honest all over the place and will vary significantly depending on where you are it wouldn't be accurate to say this is how many frames you'll see during your playthrough because such a suggestion would likely be way off overall up in space now and we're seeing closer to 60 FPS with the same settings anywhere between 50 and 60 is what I was seeing up here even as the battle with space pirates continued again it's the 10 70 TI that is the clear limitation for us with this config and the six core 12 thread stock speed 2600x is just hanging back with quite a bit of performance to spare for now I thought this game would be more CPU intensive even in pairing with this card to be honest but there are certainly points where this does become the case we then landed at an abandoned research lab again less than a couple of hours into the game here and on the surface the frame rate set between 50 and 60. one thing I absolutely love about Starfield is the color palette and the atmosphere not literally but the way in which the game makes you feel space is massive and lonely and that is portrayed really well in my opinion even this early on I can tell that this is going to be enjoyed for years to come as I made my way inside the abandoned facility our frame rates soared and at this point you may be wondering if it's worth turning the settings up well here's the thing although we are seeing 60fps now and Beyond now as soon as we step back outside this figure will drop so I don't think it's worth it if you are targeting as close to 60 as possible but I don't actually think targeting 60 is necessarily a good idea with this setup and I don't think that's what Bethesda intended with these specs but we'll move on to that shortly first though let's take a trip to New Atlantis a busy Space City with a lot more going on it's here where our CPU usage is increased and we start to see our GPU usage drop the ryzen does become a bit more of a limitation and although it's not maxing out or sitting at 90 to 100 percent the decrease in GPU usage tells us all we need to know Ram utilization is still reasonable however at around 10 gigs as I continued exploring this impressive City I wondered just how far I could recommend pushing the settings with this Hardware so let's try that now with the Xbox consoles targeting 30 FPS I figured that hitting at least albeit closer to that with better visuals would be a reasonable trade-off with that I jump back into the graphics menu and turn the preset up to medium while increasing the render res to 70 percent this should sharpen things up a bit and with the other settings bumped up our game should look a little more impressive and less eye pain inducing back into Atlantis then and as you can see we are sitting between 30 and 40 now but Starfield looks a lot better this is probably how I'd play to be honest though I might find myself turning a couple of options down later down the line possibly up if performance increases with patches over time and I'm sure it will I then flew back to the pirate inhabited Research Center to see how our Newfound performance settings held up could we still retain at least 30 FPS well interestingly things were closer to 40 most of the time and while we may not be seeing visuals as good as the Xbox series X for example we are seeing a higher frame rate again this frame rate will only increase when we're inside building things and it'll be at its lowest in bigger cities and towns during this action-packed sequence I did see some frame drops toward the low 30s and I'm sure there will be parts of the game that will get even lower than this but I hope my initial performance impressions are enough to help you make a decision as to whether Starfield is right for you and your rig I'll have some more entry-level graphics card and CPU tests coming soon but for now thank you very much for watching as the rest of the footage plays out I just thought I'd give my initial Impressions I of course have access to this game because I pre-ordered it not necessarily because I think pre-ordering is a good idea but because I wanted to get some tests in before it became available on the official launch day on the 6th of September just so that if you're thinking about buying it and you wanted to see how a certain piece of Hardware performed you could look at videos like this before launch day and maybe save yourself some money if it's not learning how you think or how you wanted it to aside from the performance I'm really enjoying the game so far I'd certainly recommend it if you enjoy Skyrim Fallout 4 bethesda's other titles of course it's got that familiar feel to it it also feels a bit like the outer worlds in my opinion which in itself was a fantastic game but there we go if you enjoyed this video leave a like on it down below leave a dislike if you didn't subscribe to the channel if you haven't done so already and hopefully I'll see all of you in the next one
