- Yo, what's up guys
and welcome back today. Today's a very special day. I know I say that about a lot of days, but today is exceptionally special. Some of you may know I have commissioned a custom puzzle by a
fine furniture craftsman and puzzle maker by the
name of Craig Thibodeau and master puzzle maker, Robert Yarger. So about six months ago,
I wrote an email to Craig and I saw his puzzles online on YouTube. He makes these elaborate puzzle cabinets. You may or may not have
seen these videos online. They look like something
out of the Da Vinci Code. They're insane. They have these non-stop compartments and crazy puzzles incorporated into them, and they're just beautiful to look at. Everything is handcrafted
from the marquetry to the veneering and the
woodworking is immaculate. And I asked him if he would be interested in building a custom puzzle box, incorporating my logo onto it, and this is what he came up with. So this is two guys and a couple months of really, really, really hard work who've put together this incredibly difficult, apparently, puzzle box. Now it was very tricky for me
to commission this puzzle box, which by the way costs about $10,000. Really hope this video does well. (laughs) It was really tricky for me
to have this commissioned because I didn't want to
know anything about it. I wanted to be able to solve it on video to share that first solve
with you guys first hand, and that's kinda hard to
do when you're working with the puzzle crafter on the project. So a couple cryptic
emails about, hey, Chris would you mind this, and
I'm like, I don't know, I don't wanna know, and so Craig finally sends me the final product. Craig decided to incorporate
this dark Wenge trim on this box and using this
nice, light burl wood. Again, everything is really finely crafted to fit precisely on this box. This thing weighs, I would guess, estimate somewhere probably
between 10 and 15 pounds. It comes on this base that spins and makes it quite elegant
to play with and to look at. That's all I know about this box. I don't know how it opens,
I don't know where it opens, and I don't know what's inside. It's gonna be a mystery
for us to figure out, I can't wait to do it today. I'm not going to be incorporating a timer. I don't feel like being pressured. This is the only puzzle of
its kind in the entire world, so I wanna take my time and enjoy it, and walk you guys
through it as I solve it. So if you enjoy this video
go ahead and like this video or wait until the end
if you wanna like it, and subscribe and let's just get into, I'm so excited, let's go! Ooh, here we go. All right, so I got these two
camera angles for you guys. So this one you can see
anything going on on the front. Look at how this spins, look at that. And we got the overhead here, so you guys can see if anything happens on top. And let's go. I don't know where to
start, so we're just gonna start pressing and pushing things. (box clacks) Oh, okay, so that happened. (box clacks)
Huh? (box clacks) Oh. (box clacks)
Oh. So many things are happening. (box clacks) Oh. Oh, hello. What's this? There's like a pen in here. Oh, and it's got a magnet. That's what that looks like. With a magnet. Let's have a look inside, shall we? Not much going on in there. So here, we have a little compartment and we have this thing. Look at the details on that. Look at that, the dovetail. We have this, I'm just
gonna run this magnet around see if there are any things to do. Oh, you can see there
seems to be a magnet here, so that might come in handy later. Here too, oh. Oh, there's a, look at this. Look at that, a little
magnet here, with a hole. I wonder what that could be. Yoink. That. Oh, I thought we had somethin'. (laughs) So that definitely fits in there. Try pushing out some more sides, maybe. Maybe after this. No. (box clacks) No. Hmm. I need to get a lower view, hold on. The one thing that I've
seen in his previous videos kinda like the snippets I
showed you in the beginning with his puzzles is that sometimes
the drawers go in this way. So maybe, let's have a look. (box clacks) Ah! That worked, we have a
drawer that just popped open. Okay. That's it. Okay. Okay, what does that do? Oh. Oh, look in here. (box clacks)
Huh, what? What? We've got two boxes
with magnets over here. Add that to our box pile. Try not to get confused with how the boxes go back, so first one
we opened, second one. Ooh, this does something, oh, whoa! Look at that. That just spun around, that just happened. Okay. What does that do? Another drawer, nothing inside. Look at here. Another drawer with magnets. We got magnets on a lot
of these things right now. I'm sure that these could
be used on one of these. Put this back. Nothing else opens, no. Bam, baby. Ooh, that's clever, look at that. This has little locks
on the side, see that? That I guess are magnetized
when that opens, so there we go. You guys hear that? Whoa. Another little slab. It seems to be stuck there. There's this little doorway that seems to be stuck with another box inside. Can't get that box out right now. Keep lookin' for crazy doors. Oh. (laughs) This thing just
doesn't stop opening. This is box like number 25 here. This one has two compartments
and it has this thing here. All right, quickly getting very confused. Does this come out? Oh, this comes out now. And another box. With magnets. Where does this box go? As you can see, there's
another box in here. (box clacks) 'Cause it's stuck by this little brass thing holding it back. Therefore, what, where
did this guy come from? That's new. Also, has a magnet. Another door. Also, this one wants to come out more. That looks like this might be useless. So I definitely think the box that's in there has to come out, and I have to figure out a way to get that clamp down in order to get that box out. And I have no access to that
so there has to be something. Maybe I'll put this back. Put this back. By the way, how cool is
this mechanism right here? How cool is that, come on. There's definitely something
I'm missing, there's gotta be another door that I haven't
discovered or something. Oh, see this one needs to come
out a little bit more too. This one's kind of stuck there. This one and this one,
these are both stuck. Either they're stuck there intentionally or they pull out further
and I have to unlock them to have access to that
last thing, I believe. By the way, this thing
is absolutely incredible. I don't know if you guys are
as blown away as I am right now by how intricate everything is. Yes, I'm stuck, yes, I
don't know what to do. I'm not frustrated, (laughs) but I'm actually freaking out. This thing is insane. Look at every angle of it, and you think, here's my thought process
is that these boxes are meant to fit in certain spots and are not meant to fit in others. They have a magnet orientation on them which only serves one purpose. To reverse engineer something
like this, to me, is insane. Like imagine you had this idea, and then you're like, oh,
okay, let's work backwards. I wouldn't even know where to start. We're already in a place
that is crazy complicated with like 20 boxes here on the side. I don't know how someone
comes up with this. And to build it so precisely with the engineering and everything else. Everything is so finely crafted. I have no idea what I'm doin'. I specifically told Craig not to send me, he sent me a file of
spoilers of him making it. So if you look in the intro,
there's those pictures, and I actually didn't see those pictures until after I make this video, so those pictures you see
are in a file that's locked that I cannot have access to until I send Craig a picture of this
thing disassembled. So for those of you thinking
I'm using some sort of cheat or anything else like that, obviously not. That would defeat the
purpose of this video, and it'd be a waste of my money. How cool is that? There's like a secret button somewhere. I wonder if this is just to sense magnets, maybe put this in there,
or to actually use it 'cause I know it was used here, but maybe it's gonna
be used somewhere else. Was not used at all,
where's the magnet here? There's a magnet here. Let's have a look underneath. That's why I got a glass table, guys. I don't wanna flip this thing upside down. He told me not to flip it
upside down, by the way. In an email, he's like, that
brass part could fall out just 'cause he wants me to be able to polish it if I need to polish it. So let's have a look underneath. Okay, oh. Oh, hello. So we have, I don't know if you
can see this on camera here, we have a little dip here. I don't know what that dip is for. And ladies and gentlemen, we have a hole that looks about the size of my tool. Where's my tool? This thing. There's a hole under here
that has about the same size as that tool. Ooh, that' heavy. Ah! Ohoho! Hello. Ow, it's crushing my hand. What's happening? (shouts) Oh my God. You guys see that, do you
guys see that up there? Look. Look what's here. (gasps) (gasps) It's a playing card with my logo. Kind of spades, it's made of wood, and it looks like, yep, it has a magnet. This is not only a card,
ladies and gentlemen, this is a key card, and I bet you after several hours of just
spinning this thing around, after several hours of scratching my head, where's that little dip, I
think it was on this side. So there's this little dip here, can you see that by the way? Here, I'll lift it up
so you guys can see it. Right there, you see that? So I saw that from
underneath and I bet you it goes in. (gasps) Oh yeah, look at that. You guys see that? So that little piece is magnetized with this card and it pulls it down. And I'm betting, where's my brown box? And I'm betting that
this is the final box. What? We have a deck of cards. Some Archangels, right on. What? And in here.
(clinking) Oh, this is when you know you've made it. This is Craig's thing when you've solved his puzzle completely he gives you a coin, but there feels like
there's two coins in here. And that's kinda like your prize. So we have Craig Thibodeau right here. CT Fine Furniture. And we have this guy, little stick figure. Wow. Look at this mess. Look at this mess. This is insane. That's so much work. I'm actually ecstatic right
now, I think this is a... Yeah, I'm at a loss for words at how much time went into the thought process. All right, so I'm gonna
keep the deck of cards out, I'm gonna keep the coins
in this little box. Which way does this go? Back into, oh man, this
is gonna be a headache. Yep, here. (pleasant music) And the final piece, there you go. The box is now complete. I have my very own deck
of cards, Archangels. And that is it. Hope you guys enjoyed that
puzzle solving process. Well there you have it. I don't know if you guys
are as impressed as I am, but I am so happy with the final product. This has been a long time, a lot of emails back and forth between Craig and myself. I'm really, really
satisfied with this puzzle. I think it's extraordinary. I think it's a beautiful
piece to have in the show room for people to play around with. Obviously wash your hands, wash your stinkin' mitts before
you touch it, but no. I'm definitely gonna keep it in a safe place and try not to break it. That will be my goal. Thank you guys for watching. Thank you to Craig and Robert
for making this happen. I really hope you guys enjoyed this video. This is one of my favorite
videos to produce to date. One of the most exciting projects that I've worked on personally. I had to see what would
come of something like this, and I am not disappointed. So guys, anyways, like this video, subscribe if you're new here and we'll see you on the next video, peace. (pleasant music)
Nice video, but for 10k it should have summoned cenobites.
That thing is absolutely gorgeous. Anyone else get frustrated though when he kept knocking the drawers closer and closer to the edge of the table starting at 11:45?
how is that worth 10k dollars. It's not even that complicated. Most of it was just a guessing game and touching the different parts with magnets
There's not even a big payoff in the end, you just pull out boxes until one of them has something in it. lame
10k seems steep to be challenged for a couple of hours.
