SLIDESHOW the PROFESSIONAL WAY in DAVINCI RESOLVE 17

so you've got a client and you want to show your portfolio in a professional way in this video i'm going to show you how my name is rico richardson i upload weekly videos on dark table in davinci so if that's something that you're into please consider subscribing now let's start with the video and here we have the four photos that i want to show in a portfolio now if i just play along it will just jump to the next one and it doesn't look very professional we're going to change that by just selecting all four of them hitting alt and then dragging them up one video track now you won't be able to see what's beneath here because these are basically like an overlay on this one but just trust me on this one we're going to select the first one and in the effects tab we're going to click open effects and here we see lens blur and now you see that the image is being blurred and we're going to drag that onto it and now i just want to copy it so right mouse button copy selecting all three right mouse button paste attributes click video attributes hit apply and now this effect is being applied to all these clips now if you want to make sure that this is true just disable the video track and this is the video track that you'll see so now you see that this is being blurred out now if this isn't strong enough for you it's very easy just select the clip go to effects and you can increase the blur size over here make sure to do this before you copy and paste it on the other clips otherwise you have to do this manually but for this video i think this will look pretty fine so i'm going to enable the video track again and i'm going to move on to the next video effect which is the dve and you can find it in the effects so dve and here we have it now this is a very heavy effect so make sure to have a little bit of patience if you don't see an effect right away i'm going to drag it onto the first one and you see that this is the result and this is exactly what we want now i'm going to select this clip and i want to change some of the attributes of this dve effect the first thing that i want to change is i want to change the z position because this will enlarge in the clip because right now i think it's way too small and i'm going to change the position as well so i'm going to select 0.5 and i want to do the same thing on the y-axis and now we have a nice border and an image in the middle of the frame and that's exactly what i want now for the color you can change this into any color you like for instance if you have a brand color you can change it to that by just moving this downwards and then opening up the border menu scrolling down again and here you can change the color i'm going to change it to a hashtag 39 ffff because this is what i use as a border for my thumbnails i'm going to click ok and now we have a nice blue color which separates it from the background now this already looks a lot better but we're not quite there yet in the meantime please consider subscribing it would really help my channel and now i want to change how this looks i'm going to animate it now i could use the rotation over here but for some reason it just won't save the keyframes if i do it here if i go to the fusion tab right now i won't be able to see this effect i have no idea what it is i think it's a mistake from blackmagic maybe they will fix it in a firmware update but for now you need to click this symbol this is the fusion symbol that will allow you to change this effect within fusion and now we're in fusion and please don't get overwhelmed by this we're going to select the dve double click here and we see a lot of options this is the entire dve effect and the one that we want to change for this specific effect is the dve one now if these settings don't show up on your screen please click another one and then go back to the dve one and they should be here so now we can change the rotation of this and that's exactly what i want to do so in this specific photo i want to set it to -20 and you see that now it's being tilted and i want to animate it so i'm going to make sure that i drag this to the first frame and i'm going to select the keyframe and now i'm going to drag it back to the end of the frame and i'm going to click on here and i'm going to change it to 0 again so that it's just normal now watch what happens if i play this clip you see that it's now being animated and it just shows up like this and that's exactly what i want so let's go back to the edit tab and now you see the effect happening here as well and that looks absolutely amazing i want to do the same thing for the second clip and i'm going to change the rotation in a different way so once again grab the dve drag it on top of here and make sure that the position is the exact same thing so 1.4 for the z position and a half for the x and y so just here i'm going to click this change both of them to 0.5 change this one to 1.4 there you go i'm going to place the marker over here i want to change the color as well border color change this into the code 39 ffff select ok and i want to animate it and for that we're going back to the fusion tab again by clicking this symbol double clicking on the dve one selecting the dve one i don't see the settings over here selecting this one going back now they are and i'm going to animate it but i'm not going to animate the x axis i'm going to animate the y axis so to the first frame going to fill in minus 20 here as well select the keyframe go to the end of the clip put this on zero again now let's play through the clip and watch what happens and now it's being animated so now that we've done that we're going back to the edit tab so we've got two of these i'm going to finish this up and then we're going to move on to the final effect and to speed it up so not to do everything manually i'm just going to select the right mouse button hit copy and then the last one hit the right mouse button click paste attributes make sure that the video attributes is selected apply and now we have the border effect over here as well so now all four clips have different effects and if i play this you will see that it starts to animate but it still jumps to the next one and i want to address that as well because i want to add some patterns in here and for that we need to select video transitions i'm going to undo this and i'm going to find the pan and here we have a pan down pan left pan right and pan up and if you move your mouse over it you will see the effect happening in the preview window so this is right and this is left and that looks pretty cool so i'm going to drag this in between the clips and i'm going to do the same thing for all cuts so we've got a pan left i'm going to make a pan right and i pan up and i've added two more of these on the other clips as well now watch what happens if i play this there you go that looks absolutely amazing it's being animated now it's moving on to the next scene and that just looks so much better than just some simple cuts so i really hope you like this effect i hope it helps you creating a professional portfolio digitally
