Sleeping in our Heated Bushcraft Shelter - Fresh Snow in the Forest - A Night of Winter Camping!

[Applause] whew two so [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] we might need to go bit further on the angle yeah anyways once you put the bipod outside you might probably can kindness yeah i'm just tying it to the ladder yeah so you know what i need if it needs to come up a little bit or whatever you can just kind of prop it up with the wire hmm good so good eye okay [Music] so hey everyone sorry we haven't spoken to you guys much yet uh we've had a lot to do uh right now we're just gonna go get some water and uh we'll catch up in a few minutes coming yep that's bad nice [Applause] thank you so much for being with us folks uh sorry for delaying uh kind of having a little greetings uh we had to wait uh quite a bit before leaving there was a fair amount of uh freezing rain and snow last night and uh we had to make sure that the conditions were safe to drive down here so we got here a little bit late and want to make sure we had all our tours taken care of uh it doesn't take very long unless we have this setup yep so a beautiful day uh bit of a surprise we thought we were done with winter folks uh we had a downpour for uh almost a 24 hour straight and all the snow at home disappeared and here there's still a fair amount more in the woods than i anticipated as you could tell by me clumsily sinking through the snow as we walk here but shelter is really in good condition the ground um was frozen and it's starting to thaw and it's keeping a lot of moisture so we got to make sure to keep our gear off the floor but other than that we didn't have to shovel it nope no shoveling today nope i wish i could have shoveled just a little bit i brought my shovel but it wouldn't have been the right condition that is crunchy so not a lot of plans we're not doing any work around camp this is uh possibly i keeps i said it last time but possibly the last hurrah for winter camping so uh we'll see what comes up in a few weeks but we're just here to relax enjoy a nice meal and a fun saturday night i hope you guys enjoy this and uh so glad you guys joined us for this uh overnighter smells so good coffee smell it never uh still am a bit of a coffee snob and i wasn't a big fan of instant but this uh espresso gold that's uh that'll do it's not as good as as a french press but it's pretty good you're probably gonna go like five spoons i don't know i don't want to stay awake all night we'll go to heaping and uh so this uh this trip we brought our pjs uh well it's not what you think fiji's it's a salted caramel liqueur so sandra's favorite ice cream is salted caramel so we'll see what it does for a coffee you want to smell it though maybe i'm not gonna like that well that's good with coffee is it yep it doesn't really smell like anything yeah so you went [Applause] well there's our coffees they're probably too hot to drink right now but we'll try to see if we can i'm gonna smell it first oh it smells good it's tippable oh that's not bad is it not bad it's superb yeah it's good it's good sandra likes it it just tastes like coffee with cream though you know i can just like well you went glue glue [Laughter] so i did it right i guess i like my coffee strong i don't know it's drinkable yeah it's not bad somebody's not tasting enough salted caramel i think i need more pjs so uh basically gonna hang out around camp for the most part stay nice and warm and have a fun winter camping weekend this is what we built this for so that we'd have a place that we could go to easily set up and just enjoy a fun evening and it's been working out great for us i'm going to need to go out and chop some wood because the the logs that we have are quite big for the soap that's no big deal i enjoy doing that oh much better is it yeah faulty caramel so um yeah we're just gonna hang out might go for a little hike later on the snow didn't wear my snowshoes we'll see how that works out for the most part it's working but uh sandra had the right idea yep i win sandra always wins and later on we're gonna cook up our supper yeah looking forward to that i haven't done that in the tent yet nope first time back country doing that [Applause] okay we just came in from uh outside there as you guys can see from the fog on the lens [Laughter] it's really nice and toasty in here got a pretty decent load of firewood already later on tonight once we have a lot of coals built up in the fire we'll be able to bring bigger pieces and they will burn much longer so all right time to get rid of the fog there you go bugs going cap is almost on i forgot my cap at home it's almost canoe weather don't pack it up too tight no just to get extra heat in there let me open up the draft a little bit uh starting to smell like tacos or the beginning of tacos it does smell good all right got our bitty big q grill here i'm just going to set it on top because i don't really want to put the taco shells in that right on it because i'm scared they're just going to burn oh my god i think i missed one are you having the foil sander i have soft taco shells in the foil hard top ouch hot hard taco shells on the stove i know you run out of room sorry all right and cheese let's leave it open so i know that there are much better tacos out there but we enjoy this these are forest tacos very simple pretty delicious so thank you sandra thank you for handing me the stuff yeah a pretty easy task it's really messy solid you go first put your jacket in your pants your everything my beard and your beard yep good stuff good um i just want to kind of share with you guys how pretty and peaceful snow-covered forest is at night probably won't see this again for a few months but uh wow it's nice so hey we set up all our sleeping uh bags early um just to have it all ready set and done and uh i think it's snowing a little bit outside nice and toasty in here what do you think santa yeah it's snowing outside yeah well we're gonna have to figure something out and uh get our chairs back in here it's it's really nice and comfortable in here it really is uh for winter everybody always asks me why are you wearing a toque if you're that warm i like wearing a toque i always do it well so we're just gonna sit here and enjoy a nice evening it's uh it's turned kind of odd out there we had some snow flurries and now it's freezing rain so yeah it's really nice to have this nice hot shelter yeah anything i left out there was just coated that now this uh this has been a really good build i mean we had fun building it and it turned out better than i could expected uh a couple of things i like about it keeps the heat yeah really nicely uh we can stand up in it and uh with the the stove jack that we were able to install there we've used multiple different stoves in here yeah another thing i like about a lot is the look having the beams inside and outside having the beams inside is just gorgeous to look at and outside that holds the fur bows and the snow i mean it's i like everything about this little shelter the only thing i would improve is this area i i haven't figured out how to get that door i mean it keeps our heat inside it just it looks ugly so still fun i like to get that fixed i think i think i want to do a moss wall like that on half of it and half of it that might work and then just have the door on the left yeah because we're only using the left side to come in and out yeah it would look it would look a lot nicer that's for sure so anyway something that we can tackle uh going on next year but this has been great we've used it a few times yeah and i have had no issues at all so oh we also have to level up the ground here we it kind of slopes down so right now we have our sleeping bags lined up this way but we're probably going to turn them uh the other way the way we usually do just to prevent rolling downhill so while we're sitting here enjoying a nice warm evening in the bushcraft shelter with the wood stove pump in there gorgeous with the windows yep really nice so while we're sitting here i want to send a shout out to june and jeremy out of uh the uk yeah i guess they're from uh norfolk region i believe they said so they sent me an email uh basically uh thanking us for for the videos and we want to thank you guys so much for uh for emailing us it's pretty nice they have a nice little spot out there where uh they don't have the opportunity to get out while camping but they do get their own little privacy and yeah sounds like a beautiful spot so thank you so much guys for requesting the shout out really appreciate it hope you guys have enjoyed this video still quite a bit more to come yeah hopefully forgot to say hi june ninja hi there oh um i just remembered as i was enjoying my kool-aid here uh in the last video uh somebody commented i apologize i can't remember the the person's name uh but they said hot kool-aid uh is that a canada thing and uh no no it's not a canada thing that's amazing i enjoy a hot beverage years ago when i go cross-country skiing and you go to warming stations they always had hot lemonade there and and i always enjoyed it so it's nice to warm up the body i got used to it so i can basically drink anything warm it seems so no it's not a canada thing please uh it's the mic thing yeah yeah i do not represent the country they'd be embarrassed by me that's going to wrap her up i'm going to say good night sandra you want to say goodnight to the folks good night thank you so much everyone we'll see you all in the morning water's fighting oh great night great night it was a lot of fun stayed nice and warm i woke up a couple of times and managed to keep the stove going all night so it was nice to get up nice and toasty this morning yep we had uh hot coffee the minute we got out of the sleeping bag so that's that's pretty good to set up right there oh this one's toasted all packed up and ready to go another fun trip uh it's been a great winter and uh seems to keep on going
