Should Veganism Be a Religion? | Good Morning Britain

I have begun to realize that some vegans are becoming sort of radical fundamentalist when it comes to veganism which I find increasingly irritating but putting that to one side why should veganism be treated like a religion because it's a deeply held belief it's a passion and I believe in not making others suffer and I believe in the most vulnerable members of our society which is farm animals should be treated with respect and you know people like me are always ridiculed we ridicule suffragettes we ridicule the civil rights movement this is the next big movement to me it's more important than brexit this is the debate about the future of the planet and how we treat the animals we share it with if its treated as a religion what what would that mean for you but how would that change your life much we would haven't be would be less ridiculed you know we sit on a plane to Pakistan my glass of wine is taken away I wear a headscarf when I go to Pakistan but a man comes and sits next to me and he's eating chicken curry so it would make people respect not just me but respect animals and the way we treated is that whose egos the god of veganism its animals we worship animals I love all animals your God yeah I I believe that a religion isn't so much about a god it's about respecting others do you eat bread wheat bread wheat bread right yeah you you're aware in the process of wheat manufacture and bread making the literally billions of insects get murdered I'm not saying that vegans are perfect but you're very concerned from is from a religious point of view I mean this is these are sacred animals that have been murdered so you can eat bread I do you stop eating bread I'm serious you stop eating bread no I and these are sacred creatures it doesn't matter what size they are a little insect that you're having Myrtle they get murdered you ask any farmer he preaches wheat and then involved in bread manufacturing billions of insects get murdered and beacons never met you they munched their bread they eat their toast they love their baguettes whilst abusing people like me that eat steak but you don't care about the little guys dear I do care about little guys and actually you can stop beating bread then well oh yeah I do eat bread well no you're a hater we do we do the best that we can we live the best life that we possibly let me say I'm you know I'm an alcoholic I do the best I can but I am but not vodka I seem to miss the same thing isn't it I think it's a question of degree and this is why I take exception the Hydra figured it as a religion if it did have a God it would probably be Morrissey by the way this I think it is a religion because the religion involves god or gods in my book and that kind of ups the ante in all sorts of ways I think you're I think veganism has all I think it should be a protected characteristic I think it should be treated with respect and dignity I think it is about a serious commitment it's not just a diet it's not just an opinion but I would differentiate between that and religion I'm sorry but shouldn't volt bread I mean if bread leads to the mass murder of so many on the phrase Pig no I have to see on the motorway everything do you don't go Laurie you don't care about the little guys that's the problem I've with vegans vegans are evangelical vicious chill through pesticides or they're killed through the farming for a man a farmer who sent me a brilliant presumably pigeons are killed on farms they use best effort pesticides I'm not saying we're past it but I'm saying that we shouldn't be ridiculed and discriminated against the laughter should be consistent but I think it can be be consistent that actually no living creature should ever be killed so that you can eat food if that's what you really believe and you're prepared like some people do in Brighton against storm restaurants scream abuse and people eating steak and play music sound of cows also extend shouldn't it also extend bread don't you think that that would include viruses so if you suffer if you were being ultra consistent well then you viruses alone to any living or and you wouldn't treat disease right you couldn't treat disease right so it's a question of degree can treat disease and we all die right well I haven't had children so I have I'm not perpetuating humans who are the most dangerous animals on this you want to end the human race well we're destroying the planet so just to clarify you just said I think that you want to end the human race you haven't had children you don't you think there are too many humans on this planet and if we continue to eat I'm gonna kill me if you're concerned about children children's starve because the least practical way of feeding the planet is to feed plants - are you gonna kill humans so if you care about children yeah you would be vegan because that is the only way it will eat me and they thoroughly enjoy it right I don't I don't like celebrating the day like I'm using and killing annals of sport and fun right but I believe in the the natural order of being able to eat meat right is what we've done since don't you see hi I'm Emma morrow we haven't had factory farming super farms intensive farming but we have it now that literacy is something that certainly deserves respect it has integrity it's an honorable position but it's about humans being the worst of all and send all humans in if they're so terrible what you do with it make it all vegans seriously would you call humans I wouldn't call human also concerned about the human race the only way we're gonna feed ourselves is by not eating me it's been scientifically proven we cannot continue to consume me in the way we do because children are stopped why don't all vegans live longer than meat-eaters about a little longer than you do how much you think we're gonna live you okay yeah what kind of 1,000 passes aren't in this joke the charity petter let's talk about petter zip s will come out today and said the eggs you can't be a feminist can't be a feminist and the eggs because of course it's killing the reproductive be a vegan and eat eggs you can't be a vacant any eggs no I have eaten eggs from chickens who I know and I know their name so I know they don't die what sure yeah so as you know the chickens you don't mind killing them I don't kill them like you only kill the ones you know I don't kill them you are killing potentially little chicks right I mean if you didn't eat them they could become right because you know them that's fine but they're not fertilized so if I know the cow it's fine if I eat steak no because the pain that the cow goes there isn't one trying to understand the logic in vegan your eggs right if she knows see this is why we need it veganism to be religion it's protects us some people like yeah no question you don't want to answer because it sounds so ridiculous right you just said you don't mind eating eggs from chickens if you know the chickens I'm saying why can't I eat steak then which has come from a cow that I know because that's the road if I know Daisy the cow is it better that I eat her then if I don't eat a cow that I don't know but you're being a fundamentalist now why doesn't squish after changing the logic of this position shouting abuse this is exactly what you're doing myself in a well any challenge is doing is challenging you and I'm not sure that if you treat veganism as a religion you then absolve yourself of being challenged I mean Christianity gets challenged regularly as Islam you know religions have to be challenged in order for the views from you may orange and every single day yeah I'm telling you see a Napper for a free bird roast for Christmas yeah you see sheep on most really burned with advertising meat be banned would you ban people for me I think bombardment especially at this time of year of promoting me but I find offensive I find the constant bombardment abuse from vegans extreme radical being is equally a better so we need to learn to live in a plural world that's it that's a that's a lesson to be made together every message that I am see I think it's a message that you might draw from religion is that we live in a plural world I respect your views I respect your views I do peer so we have to find a way of working that together and that means we respect each other's rights we'll be down at those right I'm gonna go any estate from a cow I know later and see if that makes me feel better you
