you enjoy the video for nearly a decade entrepreneurs and those who want to become it have been coming to ABC's Shark Tank to get the chance and pitch their business ideas to some of the most successful investors in the country while some candidates have walked away with a deal that turned their products into a huge hit and went on to make its inventor as well as the investors proud others have turned out to be huge money pits so take a deep breath as we dive into the tank and take a look at six deals that lost the Sharks a large chunk of money in season three of shark tank fifteen-year-old Mattie Bradshaw along with her younger sister Margot and their mother Diane fished the idea of m3 girl designs to the Sharks asking for $300,000 in exchange for 15% of the company they explained that m3 girl designs produces jewellery products that incorporate bottle caps and that after five years in production they were supplying around 1,000 stores in total and had made about six million dollars in sales since they started the company but in order to take the business to the next step and start distributing their products globally they needed help from the Sharks the bradshaw's eventually struck a deal with Mark Cuban Lori Greiner and Robert Herjavec who invested $300,000 in exchange for 30% of m3 girl designs and the business initially really took off after they appeared in the show however the company started having problems when they began filing lawsuits against various other companies who allegedly were infringing upon their trademark since the bradshaw's did not own a trademark or patent though it turned out that all these claims were false and during a trial against blue brownies it all went even further downhill after Maddy claimed that she had invented the bottle cap jewelry designs she gave a testimony in the courtroom that was quite obviously staged it was then declared that the Bradshaw had been lying throughout the trial and the ruling ended up being in favor of blue brownies it has since become very quiet around an three girl designs with their official website down and no updates in their Twitter account for four years so it looks like this became yet another failed investment for Mark Cuban after david miele lost his job due to the tough economy he decided to take the opportunity to turn his passion for cooking into a career he and his wife Dominique started a barbecue catering company called back 9b BQ and when people kept telling them how much they like their chicken dips they decided to jump into the shark tank to ask for an investment to produce them in masses Super Bowl weekend Americans consumed over 1.25 billion chicken wings and the second most popular snack food that weekend was chips and dip the couple were seeking $150,000 in exchange for 15% of their business but the celebrity investors were rather skeptical about the fact that the dips contained blended chicken only Lauri really enjoyed the products but decided to drop out an account of the fact that she didn't really feel like she was the right person to help them get their dips into supermarkets mark and Robert went out for similar reasons while Kevin simply thought an investment would be too risky seeing as their business was still in the startup phase Daymond was still hesitant in that point but eventually won out too which prompted Lori and Roberts who changed their minds wanting to give the passion of Millie's a chance the two sharks invested $75,000 each for 25% of their business and soon after the episode aired in October 2012 back nine dips were sold in various supermarkets including Costco however only a year later most of the dips they had out for sale were recalled due to an off-label usage of anchovies a setback back nine dips and fortunately did not survive [Music] in the second episode of the fifth season charles 'i'm the founder and CEO of breath ohmmeter explained the idea behind his product to the Sharks apparently breath ohmmeter is a portable device that claimed to measure someone's blood-alcohol content by simply attaching it to a smartphone right off the bat VM asked for two hundred and fifty thousand dollars for 10% equity stake in his company the idea had a nice ring to it and all the Sharks jumped in on the deal which left him with 1 million dollars for 30 percent of the company thank you sometimes it's badly though even though breath ohmmeter made over 30 million in sales over the next few years the Federal Trade Commission eventually charged the company with fraud as it incorrectly represented the accuracy of the device ultimately the app wasn't reliable and the company had to fully refund the consumers needless to say the Sharks definitely felt screwed over big-time [Music] during season four Jeffrey Miller Bish's idea of cool raps of the sharks a shrink wrap gift bag that allows you to easily wrap a gift without tape or scissors Miller was looking for $100,000 for 40% equity in the company that used to have five partners before four of them went out leaving him with 100 percent of the business I mean it's perfect for everyone as I said young and old male and female and if you have dexterity issues it's perfect the Sharks were a little bit concerned about the fact that the product had been around for ten years already without Miller managing to really get the sales going Lori Greiner thought that the product had potential and was a good TV product she also liked the fact that Miller had a utility patent but also remarked that it would need a lot of revamping which was why she decided to offer $150,000 for the whole company in order to do exactly that I'll give you $250,000 for the whole company and a 3% royalty but it's yes or no right now whoa aggressive look at these sharks circling mark I accept your offer done Mark Cuban stepped in however offering two hundred and fifty thousand dollars for 100% of the business in the 3% royalty for Miller with the condition that it was yes or no right now after a brief moment of thinking about his decision the cool wraps investor eventually accepted Cubans offer with an excited grin on his face next up is one of the most memorable scans in Shark Tank history during the show's first season a woman named Gayla Bentley introduced her fashion life for women over size 12 to the sharks and ended up making a deal with Daymond John and Barbara Corcoran for 250,000 dollars in exchange for 50% stake in her company Gayla Bentley fashion of making women look good she got her start as a department store personal shopper in fashion on the side she organized shopping trips to Paris but something was missing after filming the pitch the three worked out the details of the investment and Bentley eventually received the money however the Sharks then never saw or heard from her again in the company closed within a month or two and although the website is still online it hasn't been touched in almost 10 years both Daymond and Barbara have called this their worst investment ever and it is surely one of the worst failed deals and the biggest ripoffs in the show's history after a lash Nelson was turned away at the door of a club feeling embarrassed in front of the girl that was with him he started working on a plan so that no one especially not himself would ever have to experience the social snub like this again in 2010 this idea had grown to be easy VIP a booking service for clubs that would guarantee a table no questions asked asking for $150,000 for 15% of his company he told the Sharks that with his website anyone could easily book a VIP table admission tickets or bottle service in advance after long negotiations nelson eventually made a deal with Mark Cuban and Daymond John who gave in $150,000 for 30% of the company the celebrity investors even get Cuban American rapper Pitbull to agree to be the face of the company but EC VIP still turned out to be a failure the company's official web site is down and the Facebook and Twitter accounts have not been updated since December 2014 so it seems like marks and Damon's investment was just money down the drain thank
