hello guys crisp here and welcome back to another video in this one my friends I'm gonna be testing a GeForce RTX 4070 in cyberpunk 2077 with rate racing overdrive now this one is the gainwart's ghost version of the card we are running it with the latest NVIDIA drivers and I'm not manually overclocking it you can see over in Tech powerups GPU Z almost all of the GPU specs because the latest version of gpus still doesn't support the 4070 but yeah we got the 12 gigs right there of vram 588 Cuda cores and over on the left I'm pairing it with the I5 13600k at 5.6 gigahertz and 32 gigabytes of ddr5 6000 megahertz Ram let's get into it shall We Alright first up let's try it out at 4K resolution and I'm using the high settings just the default High settings without FSR or dlss and uh well I've already tested these settings in the Sunday video I Know What To Expect around 40 frames per second and the reason I'm starting starting this at 4K is because I I just want to turn this on okay we need to see it rate racing overdrive how good does it look I don't know let's do Native resolution first all I know is that it's extremely intensive we got the path tracing technology right here let's apply that and a 1490 actually was running the game at like 16 frames per second from what I saw in an article online so I'm not expecting much but let's see how it looks oh my God okay so oh oh that is that is gorgeous all right now it's about half as fast as that 40 90 that I was telling you about maybe even slower than that but that's to be expected guys because this is just next gen technology is is it's insane it's super super intensive it's looking absolutely breathtaking actually of course it's completely unplayable but if you want to take some screenshots and stuff it should be possible still to drive around like this but again I just wanted to take a look at it because I was really really curious to see how good this game looks with path tracing oh my God okay I can do this I can do it all right all right so that's worst case scenario at least worse than this would be like 8K all right you know what why not since we're here already with rate racing overdrive enabled I'm just gonna try it out a little bit at 8K again using that rate racing overdrive without the LSS and without the motion blur and uh if it doesn't crash I will actually be impressed what no way what how is it getting more FPS maybe some things are not really rendering properly I guess but yeah I can say that the reflections are a lot lower resolution than they were at 4K maybe it didn't quite disable the LSS because that sometimes happens actually in this game I gotta go back to the menu and turn it off or turn it on and off okay that was what was happening all right expecting all right I managed to get back into the game we're playing at 4K again using High settings gonna disable the FSR over here as well as motion blur and that's gonna be it we're gonna play like this for a little bit again I already know what to expect at these settings it delivers around 40 frames per second which is not terrible you know this is aimed at 1440p gaming and it's doing 40 FPS at 4K native in cyberpunk honestly before I tried this at 4K I was expecting slightly better but you know you we still have the dlss support here in this game which is amazing it looks really really good and I highly recommend it especially if you're playing at 4K so it drops into the 30s as you can see it's still kind of playable because it doesn't really stutter and vram isn't really maxed out anyways also oh we can talk to Bob wait a second did Mom send you are you insinuating that I'm your brother or are you insinuating that I live with my mother who pays for for this thing you know what let's just I don't like your things Bob goodbye all right see you later because he's gonna show up here again holy crap people are just erecting my car right now okay let's get out of there guys oh that was a little bit of a stutter right there actually that was noticeable but usually it will be smooth ish with around 40 frames per second on average which is not completely awful some people can play like this but I wouldn't really pay this much for a GPU to play at 40 frames per second right so I'm gonna go ahead and try it with the LSS right away okay so high settings with dlss quality which looks again really really good in this game pretty close to Native resolution it actually looks slightly better in my opinion and in my eyes because it gets rid of a lot of the noise that comes with the default CAA from the Native resolution in this game in particular so the reflections on the ground and everything look a little bit better to me at least in my opinion God damn of course that's just my opinion yours may differ but I I like it this way and I would totally play with the LSS instead of native resolution first of all that frame time graph although it wasn't really that stuttery before um it was a little bit all over a place you know goodbye sir give me your car and now that frame time is much smoother and it shouldn't really have those annoying little stutters that happened every now and again and second it's it's above 60 FPS right now which is very impressive right like 69 on average is obviously the most amazing thing in the world in games there's Bob again he's alive bastard okay so 69 FPS average at the end I I couldn't have asked for a better experience now there is an argument to be made that balanced dlss at 4K looks pretty much the same as quality DLS says and I personally can see a little bit of a difference it's slightly very very slightly softer but it's not too big of a difference and I I can only see this because I am on a 42 inch monitor on a 32 inch monitor or 27 inch monitor and 4K resolutions it wouldn't really make much of a difference at all and I would probably choose balanced dlss honestly you know what even here on a 42 inch monitor I would probably use the ballast dlss setting at 4K at 1440p it's a different story and 1080p especially I wouldn't go below quality but this is looking really good anyways 80 FPS average 61 lows again dlss is a must if you're playing this game at 4K with an RTX 4070 and since it looks great I don't have any issues recommending it now I want to set it to Quality again and I want to enable a little bit of frame generation because that's a feature that you will only find on rtx40 Series gpus this went back to Auto for some reason and I think in a few games it actually makes a huge difference I can say that this is on quality yeah it's on quality dlss right yeah quality with frame generation it kind of looks like we just what we just saw at uh ballasts it's really close yeah I mean it looks great at 4K resolution frame generation guys maybe the reflections on the ground are a little bit lower quality than they were before frame generation does an awesome job and it basically puts us at the same FPS and pretty similar quality to balanced dlss this is interesting it's basically the same experience as balanced dlss but I also can't tell another difference whenever you have the dlss frame generation enabled and you're playing with less than like 100 frames per second for example the input lag is noticeably higher than it was on balanced dlss with the same FPS because basically you get the input lag that you'd get without frame generation but with the added smoothness of the higher frames per second that frame generation provides so the game feels smoother especially on a higher refresh rate monitor but it doesn't um in terms of snappiness and input lag it's pretty much the same as if you had at the frame generation disabled still this is completely playable I wouldn't really have a problem recommending FG cyberpunk in a game like for example the finals which is a first person shooter competitive game multiplayer that actually requires faster reactions and has frame generation I would not use it at all because I could feel a little bit of a difference there and it can be a little bit gameplay hindering and put you at a disadvantage but you know it's cyberpunk single player doesn't really bother me at all you know I I would be totally fine with this experience what about like balanced with frame generation okay so that's that's a little bit snappier and it's still not enough to put those at 100 frames per second though that's interesting because for example with the RTX 1490 I think frame generation makes a bigger difference than it does with the RTX 47t I'm really curious to see what frame generation will do with stuff like the RTX 4060 and RTX 4050 in the future because it might not do a big difference like at all now I can say that it still looks very good again it's slightly softer at the distance now but it still looks very very good if somebody told me that this was just TAA maybe with a little bit of FXAA as well and Native res I would probably believe them well let's turn off dlss completely and move on to like Ray tracing overdrive with the dlss perform well let's do dlss balance which we already know looks really good turn off motion blur right there all right so this is the big guns basically of graphics oh boy oh boy so if you remember at Native resolution we were getting what like 6 FPS now we're in the we get like 10 more basically but damn is this Ultra intensive basically it's totally um transforms the lighting in the game as well it's really interesting guys it looks super different in some areas especially like right here things are way darker than they were before I enabled overdrive Ray tracing what about like performance dlss using overdrive rate racing and it gets us like five more FPS or so maybe like eight more FPS at times but at this point I think the reflections on the ground suffer quite a bit you know the quality I I can see a lot of noise it's not really noise but they're not that detailed the reflections on the ground are not that details anyways let's see it's over here in the car oh damn look at that sign over there that is ultra detailed that is absolutely super super detailed I like that anyways it is not playable it doesn't get enough fps to be an enjoyable experience so let's move on I'm gonna try it now with like Ray tracing Ultra okay and uh balance dlss again and this is it this is the previously maxed um preset in this game I guess like the lighting is the most different thing whenever you enable the ray tracing Overdrive let's just take a ride over here for a second yeah the lighting makes a huge difference still it's it looks amazing like this it did look amazing already on high and I would definitely play on high with the 4070 guys at 4K but yeah we still have that a little bit of softness around the the road for some reason the light Reflections on the road right there for example I don't know maybe it's intentional for it to look like this but I don't know I mean if I disable it oh boy oh boy I think we're yeah at this point we're just running out of vram guys yeah okay it's not the LSS causing that weird soft look on the reflections but it was only loading things now it's a little bit better this is rate racing Ultra preset at Native resolution no yeah okay now that we are actually driving at a high speed uh I can say that the road is is a lot more detailed without the LSS and with Ray tracing then it was with the LSS Android racing again these are very minor things that I'm noticing because I have a huge monitor on a smaller monitor it might look very good still with the LSS and Ray tracing at the same time anyways let's try overdrive again without the dlss without motion blur as well but now at 1440p here we go 25 60 by 1440 everything's still the same by the way I'm not sure if I if I showed you guys this but we're using High crowd density that's more of a CPU bound setting anyways and at Native resolution using overdrive RT we are getting 20. even less than 20 but look at that lighting man here in the tunnels and it's just insane oh yeah I totally forgot to visit Jack by the way look at that lighting men it's really pretty using overdrive holy crap anyways hello Jack how are you going buddy everything all right no I know it's not you're a graffiti now like I wish Jack was alive in this game actually but now he's just a memory but what about with dlss on quality here we go oh I totally forgot to use frame generation for overdrive at uh 4K res right yeah I should have tested that anyways with quality DLS says at 1440p with rate racing Overdrive it is it is a little bit better compared to what we saw previously I would go as far as saying that this is actually playable but I know it is not playable because it is dropping from 30 frames per second it's it's just that whenever you play at 15 frames per second you go back to 30 and 25 even it feels great I wouldn't really go lower than quality here at 1440p with rate racing as those Reflections will start looking pretty bad so let's try it with frame generation quality dlss rate racing Overdrive all right then huh you know what this is not bad this is although again there is that input lag disadvantage that doesn't really bother me whatsoever in a single player title this feels a heck of a lot better than everything that we saw previously with the rate racing overdrive stuff yep I would totally enable frame generation if you want to play at 1440p guys with this technology enabled of course now let me just set it back to 4K so we can test it with the frame generation as well and ballast dlss all right here we go right so it gives us 30 FPS oh my God what is happening what is this holy crap I have never ever seen something like this before is it still applying or something no whoa it is bugging out like crazy dude let me turn this off well I guess it's because with frame generation disabled we'd be getting less than 20 frames and then with it enable it just can't really I don't know it just doesn't make sense to me whatsoever huh wait a second maybe it was a one-off but by the way dlss got set to Auto there which means performance the LSS at the moment with frame generation which might be the way to go honestly if we think about it um at 4K at least but yeah now it is actually playable it's delivering playable FPS at least again if you have the option to play at high with the LSS of 60fps all of the time I would definitely take that over this it is decent for screenshots and to play around with but I myself would just stick too high at 4K okay yeah we got none of that weird business going on anymore I'm actually gonna set it to ballast again just to see if that happens guys because that was really weird okay everything is fine so far ooh that frame time changed a little bit right now oh okay now it's good well it's not good good because it's still low 30s you know and uh aside from being low 30s you're actually getting the input leg of low 20s so at this point it starts feeling pretty input laggy I would say there are better options if you're playing at 4K in terms of settings of course okay right 1440p now using the rate racing ultra settings no dlss first for Native resolution and I already tested these settings in the full review of the RTX 470 and it did get around like 40 frames per second actually this one is slightly slower than the founders Edition by like one or two frames not that it makes a huge difference it should still get 30 plus all of the time but it's not that impressive is it guys damn it gosh there goes the the headlights I can't I just can't have my headlights intact throughout the Benchmark run Jesus anyways 33 FPS around here yeah it's similar to the founders Edition it's nothing special really I I wouldn't play like this you know Ray tracing is just feels super super intensive of a technology to run even on an RTX 4070 you know like 4090 sure that can handle Ray tracing 4080 yeah that's still pretty damn decent with Ray tracing as well 4070 you definitely need to utilize it with dlss okay that said it is providing a decent smooth experience here with the LSS and no frame generation this is still on quality dlss in 1440p which looks very good close to Native Rays on a 1440p monitor and it's getting 60 on average with an overclocked version of the card you might be able to extract a few more frames per second keep that in mind this is a factory clocked uh RTX 4070 but those will still drop from 60 FPS every now and again like this one is and you know I if I'm paying this much for a graphics card I want to play at 60 plus FPS okay and that's where the frame generation comes in enabling that which sets the lss2 auto which is balanced at 1440p by the way I set it to Quality now we can get close to 100 frames per second that's exactly what I saw as well in my full review at 1440p yeah it makes the game Super buttery smooth at 1440p but you can't really say that it's 1440p anymore because we're using upscalers and stuff a lot of people get super mad at me when I'm referring to what we're seeing here as 1440p but to be honest I'm not sure if you've tried it or not but I feel like it looks super similar especially on smaller monitors like a 27 inch 1440p monitor this would look pretty damn good you know there's that I know technically it's not really 1440 but it looks close enough anyways if you want rate racing at 1440p I think I would go like this Frame generation it's not really feeling too bad here in terms of input lag it's actually feeling a little bit better than what we saw previously at 4K and I was still fine with the 4K experience with FG so yeah it is playable it looks good maybe the reflections aren't really as good with FG enabled but you know again it could be because I am running 1440p on a 42 inch monitor now what if you don't care about rate racing whatsoever let's try it with the ultra settings preset with no dlss frame generation please no FSR as well because it turns it on automatically on Ultra for some reason motion blur turn that off as well there we go this is ultra settings with zero rate racing now and I feel like this is gonna be decent right yeah okay 60s and 70s that's not bad whatsoever I mean maybe I was expecting a little bit more honestly because RT is such an intensive Tech and this is still super intensive even without RT right yeah it is dropping from 60. interesting I thought it was going to stay above 60 all of the time wow 54 there yeah this is far from what I expected at Native 1440p so you it can't the 47 you can't do 94 and 40p at ultra settings without RT at 60 plus what it is what it is my friends I'm here to tell you the truth and it does drop okay so let's try it out with quality dlss I guess if you guys first of all let me tell you this looks basically the same if not a little bit better than at Native resolution so definitely use the LSS okay and second of all it pushed our FPS up to like 90 80s yeah that's way better okay so whatever you do if you're playing at 4K or 1440 you need to enable the LSS yeah so if you don't like rate racing whatsoever maybe you also don't like the LSS whatsoever in that case just get a GTX 1080 TI again let's try it with frame generation at 1440p with quote oh my what the weird dude like it was pretty underwhelming at Native then with the LSS quality it was what I was expecting and then with frame generation it is way better than what I was expecting like this is now a high refresh rate experience at 1440p ultra settings without rate racing and it still manages to look really good with frame generation and quality dlss at 1440p yeah it's it does look a little bit softer than native resolution I'll I'll tell you that but I mean that buttery smooth experience is insane it is a huge selling point for these gpus guys for the 4D series it also consumes a lot more vram whenever you have frame generation enabled by the way which I haven't really been keeping an eye on honestly but we haven't really seen any major stuttering issues or anything like that so I guess 12 gigabytes is okay for cyberpunk finally let's play at 1080p resolution with the rate racing overdrive yeah let's do that no dlss please thank you very much no motion blur either thank you very much and oh my freaking God it's still not enough for 30. how crazy is that dude that is just insane to me how intensive overdrive is it can't handle it with dlss it probably can handle it all right these kind of FPS are what I remember getting on like the RTX 2060 I think at like 1080p ultra settings maybe or maybe with Ray tracing as well maybe 30 60 with Ray tracing ultra settings and the LSS I think so something like that I tested a bunch of gpus already in this game obviously I can't really remember or pinpoint what exact GPU did kind of deliver the same experience with Ray tracing ultra settings and the LSS um but there was something that could also deliver somewhat like this experience and it was much much cheaper than this GPU let's do rate racing Ultra no no let's go back to overdrive set it to Quality set the the frame generation God damn it dude oh so many times it just switches to Outer there it's really annoying so this is Ray tracing overdrive with the 1080p resolution dlss quality and frame generation and now it starts looking too soft I don't really recommend this I know I am using a 42 inch monitor for this but I think even on like a 22 inch monitor at 1080p it wouldn't do a good job visually it is impressive but it's nothing that I would actually use you know so let's turn this off try it with rt Ultra no frame generation and no dlss next oh wait a second okay so RT Ultra gives us pretty much similar fps to what we saw at 1440p apparently with Ray tracing and dlss and I just noticed that we have the laa over here so what the Lea does is it applies the sharpening and upscaling that dlss applies but without rendering at a lower resolution it actually renders at your native resolution and applies all of that sharpening and upscaling on top of that and it makes it look better than native res that's for sure it does look better than the native TAA that they use in the ca all right and it's getting 50 frames per second it's not terrible but it's still nothing that I would use with the 4070 so let's try it with the the LSS quality rate racing Ultra the LSS quality 1080p can provide this finally with those sweet 60 plus yeah I thought it was going to do a bit better at 1080p as well but again you never know with Ray tracing it's just too intensive also look at that looking great the reflections there wow those are actually very impressive anyway this is a way better image than what I saw previously with overdrive rate racing the LSS looks still looks decent you know if you don't use frame generation at 1080P and it's always above 60 FPS but it's 1080p I'm not sure if a lot of people are buying 40 series for 1080p gaming I've seen a few with the 470 TI and even 4080 at 1080p but vast majority should get 1440p or 4K and lastly I want to check it out using the ultra quality settings and to disable FSR and disable motion blur this is native Ultra at 1080p it looks great like this it gets a hundred frames per second see how intensive rate racing is it was getting like less than 60 at Native rays and now we just disabled RT what the hell is happening here I didn't do it it wasn't me what the hell why are you shooting at me I'm enable some of the LA as that that does make a little bit of a difference it makes things sharper maybe slightly more detailed I've actually made a little comparison in one of my videos in the past testing dlss on and off also dlaa kills your FPS like crazy we're getting near a hundred now we're at 75 average what the hell dude but as I was saying I did a little comparison on a static image between dlss quality and Native 1080P and the DLS quality image had slightly more detail I just want to stop right here and see 78 FPS is what we're getting stopped there disable the laa for Native rays what the what the how are you crazy 120 enable the laa you get 70s what how don't use dlaa lastly I guess we could test like high at 1440p Native for those of you who really want the native resolution you know and it's getting well above 60 FPS at all times so that's the last setting that we're testing here today I feel like this is still going to be relevant for some people out there definitely buttery smooth all right okay now that's been it thank you very much for watching this video hope you enjoyed it I know it's another huge video after the Minecraft one but I promise the next one is going to be a little bit smaller okay as always love you all bye
