hello guys crisp here welcome back to another video in this one my friends I'm going to be testing a GeForce RTX 470 in Allen wake 2 this one is the founders Edition version of the card we are running it with the latest NVIDIA drivers as usual and I'm not manually overclocking it you can see all of its specs right here in Tech powerups GPU z resetable bar is also enabled and we got 12 GB of gddr 6X in this card and over on the left we're pairing it with the I5 13 600k over clock to 5.5 GHz and 32 GB of ddr5 6,000 MHz Ram in dual Channel let's get into it shall we let's go for the settings now I'm playing at 1080P and I'm also going to test this one at 1440p and 4K and we're using the high settings preset exactly the same settings as yesterday with the RTX 47 TTI rate racing is also turned off although there is software based rate racing baked into the game that you can't disable but I am also going to utilize some RT as well as dlss a little bit later in this video as well let's do this and as you can see we're getting close close to 80 frames per second around here which is not too bad indeed I mean it's around like 20 25% slower than the RTX 478 TI which Falls within what you'd expect you know this is a 20 to 30% uh less powerful card than the ti version that means that we can still see 60 plus FPS comfortably in this game remember that I am testing it in one of the most intensive areas inside of the game which is this Forest area right at the beginning of it and it's getting very good frame times as well no stuttering whatsoever game looks amazing here on high settings preset there is no ultra settings preset as well somebody told me I was stupid because I didn't test Ultra with a 470 TI who is the stupid one now huh I'm just kidding but it it doesn't have an ultra settings preset all right we got 79 frames per second on average 63 wi% lows I think the 47 ETI got 100 FPS on average just just for a little bit of a comparison there if you're wondering whether or not it's worth it to get like 20 more FPS in my full review I found them to be very similar in terms of uh price to Performance you know cuz the other card is like 30% more expensive but it's also 30% faster or close to it anyway let's use dlss on quality this should bump our fps to closer values to the RTX 470 TI and indeed it does as you can see we're now in the 100s in this area let's start counting our FPS 120 even okay so it's starting to get close to that high refresh rate experience that I really like and of course we still have frame generation that we can utilize on top of the LSS or just on top of native resolution as well to achieve even higher FPS even with dlss enabled you can see that the game looks very good it's it's slightly softer slightly more shimmery here at 1080p resolution but at the higher resolutions it looks basically the same as native res that's good and bad to see at the same time that means that the game at Native resolution looks just a little bit soft even with daa enabled and by the way there is no way to disable daa at Native unless you want to use FSR native but it looks almost the same so yeah what's the point it's also a little bit more intensive with FSR native than the laa uh but yeah this is exactly the same in terms of results 1% lows and averages at least to this point right here as the RTX 470 TI was at Native resolution so you can think of a 4070 with dlss enabled has a 470 TI with Native resolution obviously if you enable the LSS on a 470 TI it's going to perform way faster now considering that this is one of the most intensive areas in the map I think I would just stick to Native resolution here at 1080p no need to use the LSS and make things slightly blurrier and shimmery I will however try some frame generation on top of native resolution with the laa see how many frames we can get here so it's a little bit better for sure like 20 more FPS than what we saw with dlss quality and I think it also looks a little bit better it's slightly softer once again than 1080p native a little bit shimmery as well still but I mean even the native resolution was a little bit shimmery so and we're getting a really smooth experience input lag Wise Guys it's okay you can't really tell much of a difference honestly like it might be a little bit worse than native resolution was but this is a single player slow paced title and we're still getting 100 plus FPS all of the time here with frame generation enabled so input leg wise it feels okay nothing out of this world you know not sure if I would go with this or native res I think I'd go with Native res cuz I think it really comes down to image quality if it looks slightly better at Native res and gets 8 FPS which is totally enough for a game like this I would go with that now what about the targeted resolution for this card that Nvidia targets as well 1440p using daa native resolution no dlss high settings preset and no rate racing so with the 470 TI this is where you can see the most difference basically cuz that GPU got 60 plus FPS all of the time using these settings I think it dipped into the low 60s once in a while but it was a much better experience than this one below 60 FPS is just very mad for a card that costs this much of course so I I would definitely just enable D LSS and play with 60 plus FPS all of the time because again when you do that it will achieve very similar results to the 470 TI at Native resolution but let's run around like this for a little bit some people just don't like the LSS or refuse to play with the LSS for some reason I mean maybe those comments saying that the LSS sucks and it it heavily degrades the image I mean that happens in some games don't get me wrong um but maybe they they just haven't really played around with dlss I was one of those people before I got an RTX GPU I was with the RX 67 5700 XT actually or the GTX 1080 TI I had both of those cards and I played around with those and I always thought back in like 2018 2019 that D LSS was just it's just a gimmick probably right but then Nvidia sent me the 360 TI and I was like who this is like magic now you can adjust a lot of these settings to make the game look very similar to high settings and uh perform a little bit better as well I'm going to take a look at that in just a little bit but uh I'm sticking to the presets right now by the way quality DLS has now enabled uh but yeah I'm sticking to the presets because if I'm paying this much for a GPU I like to be able to play things at like maximum preset sometimes or at least High settings preset right and not have to fiddle with the settings too much um now the LSS enabled again at 1440p it just delivers basically the same uh experience in terms of visuals as native resolution maybe it's a little bit more shimmery around the girl's head right there like probably because of of the hair it's there's a little hazy effect right there or shimmery effect but it doesn't really bother me in the slightest like test and in a smaller monitor it's going to look very very good I am using a 42 in monitor so I can notice every single imperfection here by the use of dlss and it's not only dlss that looks this good in this particular title if you use FSR 2 for example on quality which is it's one pixel of a difference actually I thought it was exactly the same very interesting but yeah if you use FSR 2 on quality it also looks super similar to the D LSS in this game it's just slightly ever so slightly more shimmery but I mean if you are on an AMD GPU you you got this option and I totally recommend it at 1440p and above guys it it works really really well it also gets very very similar fps to D LSS just slightly lower I think 76 FPS right there with FSR 2 and with dlss on quality you get 77 FPS 78 all right so it's it's just a little different in terms of performance that is kind of negligible that's just to say that FSR 2 actually works really well in this title and I hope to see it upgraded to FSR 3 in the future because it could potentially look even better and then you will have frame generation enabled on a lot more gpus speaking of frame generation I'm going to enable it on top of quality dlss here at 1440p since it looks a lot better than 1080p we can do it with quality dlss I don't recommend you to do it to enable frame generation without quality dlss enabled cuz you will dip into like the '90s and 80s probably in terms of FPS and then you can start feeling the input lag quite a bit I strongly suggest you to stay above 100 frames per second whenever possible when using frame generation cuz that's where you're going to see good results here in single player titles and very very good smoothness at the same time so now it's again just slightly more shimmery than it was before without frame generation maybe ever so slightly softer but it looks almost the same as the LSS quality did so it's it's a great experience visually and of course this Smooths out the frame time graph gets as way higher FPS get say 113 so far on average and 94 1% lows and that's just an amazing experience guys all right it's really really good I mean I would expect a card like this to perform like this with these FPS out of the box without the use of any scalers but games are so intensive and so unoptimized these days that well you got to use all of these trickery Technologies you know to achieve very high FPS okay up to 4K we are not sure why I talked like Yoda there but uh this is where we also see a big difference cuz the 470 TI was getting 30 plus FPS all of the time this is super jittery by the way this game still has this mouse panning issue with stuttering it's not showing stuttering in the frame time graph but you can clearly see that it has these very weird stops this happens every time you are below like 50 frames per second and even below 60 frames per second that happens like into the 50s um but it's not as noticeable of course this is terrible this is not too able let's use D LSS on quality now and this should smooth out things to the point where it's play able just not that amazing cuz it still has that little lag and Jitter whenever you move the camera around sometimes it's not going to happen as often as below 30 FPS obviously but yeah it's a little bit bad and it's noticeable but the thing is if you lock the FPS it will be smooth so if you lock the fps to below the 1% lows that we get at the end of this little Benchmark run over here you will get a Flawless smooth experience all right over here wow it's very interesting it's not even dropping from 40 frames per second so you can lock it to 40 and achieve a 40 FPS experience all over the time with basically native resolution visuals which is very very good to see like it's 4K I would say if I saw this image without knowing that dlss is enabled and same goes for FSR at 4K resolution in this game again I would say it's native resolution guys now I'm not going to use frame generation on top of quality D LSS because if I do this it gets 60 FPS yes it's actually pretty smooth if you're just watching the video of course but I am playing the game and I can tell you that the input lag at this point is really noticeable and uh it's about the same as like 40 FPS input lag or like 35 maybe it's not great guys so what I'm going to do next is play at performance D LSS and 4K resolution no frame generation no no frame generation and now we're getting very similar FPS what we saw with frame generation enabled you know it's right around 60 to 65 most of the time it will probably drop but of course the input lag this time around is the same S60 FPS so it feels snappier for sure and uh I mean the game still looks awesome dude this is really crazy like the LSS 3.5 does an insanely good job in these typ titles let me just try it out with FSR 21 performance cuz it might actually look really nice as well I don't know this game works very well with the uh up scalers yeah look at that it's just a little bit softer basically and I can see a little bit more noise when moving but not bad not bad at all my friends even if you want to use FSR with other gpus you're good to go at 4K with FSR performance it's going to look great damn yeah it's a little bit sharper with the LSS all right let's start counting our FPS again and get to the last part of the Benchmark run and then play with frame generation it's going to look great with performance dlss I have seen that some people are actually using these exact settings with like the 47 ETI to play at 4k on 4K TVs and they find the experience to be awesome obviously that card is going to stay above 60 FPS all of the time but this is no slouch either this is super playable and it can be really enjoyable um for pretty much anyone playing a single player title you know so it's great to see but now enabling frame generation on top of it it gives us those 80 plus FPS maybe all of the time again input lag Wise It's about like 45 50 FPS I would say it doesn't feel as Snappy moving the camera around as it did at 60 frames per second previously so there's that even like with the drops into the 50s it feels a little bit more Snappy than this but if all you're going for is that smoothness and those 60 plus FPS all over the time it's going to get that with these settings right here and still be playable you know it's not too bad also in terms of vram usage it's been okay throughout this video it's only when you enable RT that it gets wrecked basically uh and it start swapping things into system RAM and that's not really a big problem here in this game but it will drop the FPS a little bit compared to a higher vrm amount card okay I'm back to 1440p since at 1080p it was already playing really well with high settings preset there's no need to adjust settings in my opinion at that resolution now these are the optimized settings because they're the PS5 settings basically for uh the quality okay and rate racing is still turned off it's very close to the medium settings preset on PC and it's still not enough to achieve 60 plus all of the time but at least we're not really in the 40s anymore right like we got 50 FPS on average if I'm not mistaken and I guess this will bump our averages by like 10 frames per second compared to what we saw previously just on Flatout High settings preset and it is a little bit smoother of an experience but it's not gamechanging in my opinion because you got the option to enable the LSS previously on high settings preset it looks a little bit better than this in my opinion cuz like the Shadows I mean they were a little bit more emphasized maybe or the cusion I don't know but there's something different to this it looks slightly flatter the water is a little bit more noisy as well you can notice a lot of noise over there actually so it just degrades image quality by a little bit and I think it's worth utilizing the high settings preset in my opinion guys just use dlss there it will look almost the same on quality as native resolution at 1440p and it gets 60 plus 100% of the time let's just compare it a little bit with the LSS quality here on optimized settings we can get probably up to like 90 frames per second 80 to 90 on average I guess just by looking at the FPS in this particular scenario and uh yeah you just lose a little a little bit of visual quality you gain a few FPS that don't really make a big difference when we're talking about the LSS quality at 1440p now what about a 4K resolution guys with the optimized settings can it get 30 plus oo previously we were in the 20s most of the time now we're actually in the 30s I think it will drop into the 20s still in very intensive scenarios but I mean with a little bit of an overclock to the card you might be able to achieve 30 plus 100% of the time while playing at Native 4K resolution so this this is a little bit more compelling of an option than at 1440p to use optimized settings you know and I mean you could even lower some of the other settings a little bit more to achieve that 30 flat 100% of the time actually this is 30 plus all of the time this is one of the most intensive areas in the entire game and it's still getting 30 plus it only touched like 30 I believe on the minimums the 28 1% lows are just because of slight variations in the frame time graph those little tiny spikes that you see uh but they're not really indicative of what the FPS number showed okay all right let's stop it there that's very surprising I actually thought it was going to drop slightly sometimes that means that quality dlss will definitely get us those sweet like 45 plus all over the time which I find to be acceptable for a single player title but I think where this is going to shine the most at 4K is with performance dlss cuz now you can see it's a little bit more shimmery again it's a little bit different from n resolution but it still looks great and it's getting 60 plus FPS all of the time I believe I don't think it's going to drop from 60 guys that is very good indeed 63 right there all right so this is a big difference compared to what we saw previously oh 59 right there not a problem it only dipped once over there and usually over here it's where it drops the most and it's still getting like 64 minimum so this is good for that 60 FPS experience I would lock it to 60 actually and play like this at 4K resolution guys I'm just a little bit sad guys that we can't really get 69 FPS on average that would be absolutely perfect right but no it just get us 70 or 71 right there it's it's joking with us all right so this is it for 60 plus FPS with very good input lag of course cuz it's native frames per second what we're seeing right here not with frame generation if you enable frame generation on top of it we get 90s and 80s this is not as big of a difference compared to previously you know we're getting like what 80 FPS or so now we're getting 10 more FPS and now let's play with rate racing all right so for RT I will keep the same optimized PS5 quality settings that we were using previously not high and I'm going to enable the medium settings preset here under rate racing I'm just going to restart the game right now to make sure it fully applies everything properly and it's actually getting as 30 plus FPS all of the time I believe it's not terrible I thought it was going to dip into the 20s probably because yesterday with the 470 TI I was playing on high oh it still dips into the 20s with rate racing on medium and I am I was slightly comparing it in my head to the 470 TI and if we were utilizing exactly the same settings it would definitely get us in the 20s but since this is optimized settings with rate racing medium it's actually in the 30s which is not terrible but I mean who is buying a 4070 to play at 1080p 30 FPS right so let's try it with quality DLS say and it's still not enough to get this to 60 frames per second but it feels a heck of a lot better than 30 my friends that's for sure holy you know what at 1080p optimized settings with rt on it actually gets us the same FPS with Native resolution not now with quality D LSS as 4K optimized settings native resolution guys you know rate racing in this particular title on medium not even on high right it impacts our FPS the same as increasing the resolution by four times cuz 4K is four times 1080p if you put it like that that sounds super insane right it's really crazy how rat racing and path racing in this game as well works and how intensive it is it looks really good don't get me wrong now we don't have any Shadow popping whatsoever and we got more accurate and occlusion and Shadow and lighting effect it's it's very beautiful indeed but you just lose a ton of performance I don't think I would utilize it with a 4070 all right let's enable frame generation on top of it the technology that Nvidia is very proud of with a 40 series we are actually above 60 FPS all of the time so it it kind of works for this particular scenario I would probably choose to play this like this with frame generation enabled with the little bit of added input leg it's not really that terrible since it's always above 80 frames per second anyways then without frame generation getting like 50 to 60 frames per second all of the time this feels a heck of a lot smoother that's for sure let's stop it right there 92 FPS average 1% lows on the 70s that's really nice let's do 1440p I'll keep dlss on quality but I disabled the frame generation still using medium rate racing and optimized settings and this is good for 30 plus FPS all of the time apparently not bad especially if you lock the FPS obviously to get rid of the jittering with the mouse movements it's going to work pretty well it's going to look fantastic but again it's it's like it's that situation again would you pay this much for a graphics card to play at 1440p 30 FPS when you have the option to play at 1440p high settings without rate racing with dlss quality with six plus FPS all over the time I think that's the much better experience you know this this just feels really sluggish compared to to the other experience that we had previously even though it does make the game more beautiful it's noticeable the difference with rt on I just don't feel the need to do that I I I wouldn't trade those 60 FPS for that visual bump with rt lastly let me just use some frame generation on top of it and now we can actually get those 60 FPS but again the input lag is pretty much the same as we got previously maybe a little bit worse you know also I'm sorry about the tearing right now because we are close to 60 FPS that always happens with this capture card that I'm using so yeah the results themselves right now are very impressive again I wouldn't play like this because of the added input lag but some people can actually play like this and they will be very happy with 60 FPS average with rate racing at 1440p very close visuals to Native resolution so it works very well I just really really wish that they fixed the input lag issues with frame generation if they manage to do that it's going to be insane I think I wasn't expecting it to be as good as it is with rate racing and the ups scalers and the trickery with frame generation enabled thought it was going to be a little bit worse honestly but 4K resolution performance dlss is next and with rate racing at the same time oh boy yeah it's getting really similar fps to what we saw at 1080p I think yeah maybe 1080p was a little bit better than this so with rate racing if you don't enable frame generation and performance dlss is not going to work and even if you enable frame generation I I'm doubtful here okay it gets 40 FPS but look at that frame time graph now it is not smooth I think we're running out of vram as well it already swapped some things into the ram cuz the RAM usage is a little bit higher at the moment and I mean it is 40 FPS that's what it's showing in the the graph but again the input lag if you are below 60 FPS is very hard to manage even at 60 FPS if you are below 70 FPS it's very hard to manage with frame generation guys cuz this is basically the same input lag as what 25 to 30 frames per second so you You' need to lock the fps to which even a smooth experience here with frame generation enabled because of the jerkiness and the mouse issues in this game and then you'd be lowering the input lag even further because you're locking the FPS you're getting less FPS the internal input lag would be a lot worse so not recommended here that's been it for this one my friends I hope you guys enjoy en this video don't forget to like And subscribe if you haven't already catch you in the next one very soon as always love you all bye-bye
