hello guys Cris here welcome back to another video in this one my friends I'm going to be testing a GeForce RTX 360 TI in Allen wake 2 this one is the founders Edition version of the card we are running it with the latest NVIDIA drivers and I'm not manually overclocking it you can see all of its specs right here in Tech powerups GPU Z it's the gddr 6 version of the card and resizable is enabled and over on the left wearing it with the I5 13600 K and 32 GB of ddr5 6000 MHz Ram in dual Channel let's get into it shall we let's go over this settings first I'm starting at 1080p we're also going to test this one at 1440p and 4K using daa and I'm also going to test it out with dlss of course and we're using the optimized settings by digital Foundry so these are basically PS5 settings with a few tweaks here and there for example the PS5 doesn't really use high Shadow resolution or high textures or Texture filtering and stuff so these are a little bit higher settings than the PS5 has and then later on by the end of the video I'm going to use some rate racing but I really don't recommend it okay so let's go ahead and continue all right here we have it I'm going to start counting our FPS and we're just below 60 frames per second this is very similar to what we saw with the RX 6700 XT that GPU dropped into like the mid 40s around here and this one is dropping into the low 50 so it might be a little bit faster which makes a bit of sense as well because this is an Nvidia sponsor tile you know also vrm utilization is very much up there guys 7.8 GB or 7,800 megabytes actually but the good thing is this game doesn't really start stuttering like crazy like other games do when you run out of VM so I will still utilize the high textures I think it's worth enabling those frame time consistency is also a little bit better than what we saw with the rx6 700 XT as well and that GPU is a 12 GB card so yeah there are no issues here with having having 8 GB of vram and playing with these settings that we're utilizing at the moment there are some flickering textures every now and again guys I can noticed that I'm not sure why that's happening I think I saw those with the RX 6700 XT as well and the GTX 1650 but I haven't really seen those with like the RTX 4060 for example and RTX 3060 so I don't know what's happening with that but it can be a little bit distracting okay so let's go ahead and try some dlss this will probably bump things up oh yes by quite a lot all righty wa it we're hitting 80 frames per second are you serious I did not expect that big of a jump especially after testing so much Arc survival ascended that game doesn't improve at all with the use of dlss for some reason but yeah if you are playing at 1080p resolution I think dlss quality is probably the way to go cuz it doesn't really drop from 60 FPS we've been to this little Alleyway right here here which is the most intensive part inside of the most intensive part of the game okay and as you can see especially looking in that direction it only drops into the low 60s mid 60s so I think it's fair to say or assume that it won't really drop from 60 FPS anywhere in the game the LSS also gets rid of most of the noise I mean there's still a ton of noise on the reflections but it still looks a little bit better in that regard compared to Native resolution guys it clears it up a little bit also I'm not really noticing the flickering textures anymore don't don't know what that was about maybe we were slightly running out of VM and that started happening I don't know it doesn't really make much sense honestly but hey with dlss quality we're effectively running the game at 720p and the vrm utilization is not pegged at like 7.8 GB anymore all right that's it for 1080p we're now at 4 1840p using daa again and the same setting still with the high textures guys so I'm wondering if it's going to start flickering again or maybe it was just loading I don't know uh well let's start counting our FPS now the ram utilization went up because well we're swapping things that should be on vram into the ram cuz the vram isn't enough but as I told you it's not really stuttering because of it and I think it's worth still having the high textures enabled cuz that those look way better than medium textures as digital Foundry showed in their video in my opinion it's definitely worth utilizing these settings and as you can see compared to Native resolution at 1080p this 1440p res is way more intensive dude like it's dropping into the 30s sometimes even mid-30s and low3s going by the 1% lows they were at 33 now they're at 34 but whatever it looks a lot cleaner as well but you can still see a ton of noise here on the lake I don't like that really of course in a smaller monitor you're less likely to see noise I'm using a 42 in monitor so I can see all of those little imperfections yeah this is the way to see if there are really noticeable differences in the graphics and so on these FPS are still decent enough to enjoy a single player title like this one right like it's it's 34 FPS 1% lows with 42 on average 42 on average is is all right for a game like this that means that in the city areas and stuff like that it would get us like 50 frames per second on average or so with 4 1% lows so that's going to be a smoothish experience not the smoothest ever but this isn't really a fast-paced game so I'm fine with this experience of course we have the option to play with quality dlss though and that will make quite a bit of a difference look at this oh yes it's getting very close FPS now to what we saw at 1080p native resolution so let's go ahead and do the little Benchmark run over here again yeah that's that's really smooth guys the difference in smoothness is actually insane compared to what we saw like 30 40 frames per second at the native resolution and now getting 50 to 60 frames per second it's It's Kind of Night and Day actually and the the difference in graphics is not noticeable whatsoever here at 1440p at 1080p D LSS kind of looked a little bit more shimmery just slightly you know but here at 1440 it's pretty much the same thing as native res guys I would have no problems whatsoever utilizing these settings guys once again and I think with balance dlss it will still look pretty good let's do balance dlss next at the 1440p resolution see if we can extract a few more FPS from it ah it seems like it's basically the same stuff right uh well good thing is the visuals are also basically the same maybe slightly more shimmery I can notice it yeah those little branches for example are uh not as detailed as before not as knitted you know but hey it's it's a little compromise that you have to do to to extract a few more FPS and on a 27 in 1440p monitor for example it won't be noticeable all right so there is just a slight difference between quality and B dlss both in performance and in graphics so you choose whatever you want that's why I'm testing so many settings here and I I usually doing my videos cuz then you know what to choose for yourselves anyway we haven't really seen Bob in a really long time guys like that bastard showed up in my RTX 48 video over here in this area and he was following me around he actually showed up right there and I'm not sure what happened to him this is the same safe game I think and uh he he's not showing up anymore I'm I'm a little bit alone right here feeling alone and and sad 720p next let's go or 720p with performance dlss that is yeah this this starts looking pretty rough actually I can see a lot of noise a lot of shimmery edges and um just pixelation I guess sometimes yeah it works I mean it's not terrible especially if you're using like a 24 in monitor at 1440p resolution for example it still drops into the mid-50s as you can see yeah balanced or quality is fine performance not so much let's go up to 4K okay I just restarted the game to reset the memory utilization stuffs and now we are at 3840 by 2160 with daa and using exactly the same settings okay this is pretty rough as you can clearly tell right 15 frames per second I'm pretty sure it was performing a little bit better than this before I went into the menu wait a second let me do this again yeah 24 again whoa what is happening here so um it's cinematic it's very cinematic if you're into movies and stuff this not only looks like a movie cuz it looks very very good but it also performs like a movie just add a little bit of motion blur and you'll you're golden the bad thing is it has a lot of frame skips look at that it is not a smooth 24 frames per second well I I never heard of a smooth 24 frames per second honestly but it's not consistent okay so what you need to do to fix it is lock the FPS but I'm not really going to do that cuz what's the point it's 20 something FPS it's not doable right so let's enable quality dlss which makes the game render at 1440p internally it upscales it to 4K you can see the RAM usage went down vram usage went down by a little bit as well and now it's performing much better now I can tell a slight difference between this and Native resolution once again just because I have 42in monitor if I had like a 32 in 4k monitor which is probably the best size for desktop monitors here at 4K resolution in 2023 I would not be able to tell a difference whatsoever and after running around for a little bit I can't really tell much of a difference either but what I'd do here with dlss quality at 4K resolution is I would lock the FPS and that would make things a lot more consistent cuz I'm still feeling a couple of frame skips here and there guys if I pin the camera around like this you can see like it's pretty weird the way this works whenever you're below like 40 FPS you start noticing these things and it's just a little Jitter that happen but they're not picked up by the frame time graph I don't know what they are honestly I'm not sure if you know but this game actually uses software rate racing even if you have the rate racing options disabled that's why it's so intensive but it's also very scalable at the same time you can see like it's a 36 ATI and we are having what I'd call a pretty decent an acceptable 4K experience now you know what let's try performance dlss right away cuz quality was already really good for a 35 FPS experience once again and now I I want to get closer to those 60s or at least get like 40 plus all of the time and maybe performance dlss will do that because it renders the game at 1080P and then it upscales it to 4K now with performance dlss you can notice that there's a little bit more shimmering a little bit more noise but it actually looks better than something like 1440p with quality dlss so this is a way better experience visually than like 1080p native and 1440p quality and even maybe 1440p native actually maybe it's because I am using a 4k monitor once again but this to me looks better than all of the previous resolutions that we tested in any upscaling setting or native resolution that's actually pretty insane because this is effectively running at a quarter of the resolution of my monitor at the moment and then upscaling it but it's that's the DLS magic my friends it looks really well and it makes a bit of a difference in performance as well I wouldn't really have a problem playing like this actually and I'm wondering if this is worth utilizing instead of like quality dlss I think it is I think I would end up using these settings with my 4k monitor for a cinematic experience you know with very very good visuals I don't really care about 60 FPS in a game like this I would be very happy with this experience guys cuz you can connect it to a TV and it's like watching a movie this game it looks that good guys okay so you can actually enjoy it with your significant other for example on your TV just chilling back with a controller or something and it's going to perform pretty well no major stuttering either it's nice guys these were pretty nice results I wasn't expecting the 360 TI to do this well in this one actually especially because of the 8 GB of vram all right so now I'm going to go back to 1080P and test some rate racing all right I just restarted it again and we're playing at 1080p daa using the same optimized settings and low R Racing all right and this is this is really gorgeous but it's getting 30 FPS so it's it's not going to work okay it's it's definitely going to drop here and there guys actually it's not dropping as far as I thought it would and the shadows and lighting look a lot better right now than they did previously it's it's actually a really big difference em occlusion as well but of course it's not really viable there are a lot of frame skips with these frame rates it's actually dropping into the 20s very often as well so no please don't that's why I told you that the rate racing is just a bit too much for these cards okay if you want to run RT you need 40 series gpus in like the 4070 and up um maybe 4060 if you utilize some dlss for frame generation as well cuz then you can achieve like 60 frames per second but with a lot of input leg so it's not going to be great now look at the noise the noise is completely gone now that we enabled rate racing everything else is still exactly the same but rate racing much makes makes such a difference holy crap right and it's actually playable here with quality dlss enabled I thought it was going to perform a little bit worse we still have those flickering textures sometimes by the way uh but yeah I I really thought it was going to be a bit worse even with dlss quality it's quite a surprise to see 30 plus FPS all of the time with rate racing low enabled the only thing I wish we had in this game is a sharpness slider that would have gone a long way I don't know why the developers started removing sharpness sliders from the dlss settings cuz previously we saw a lot of games doing that but now most of the games coming with these more up to dlss versions don't have sharpness sliders and it it does make a huge difference I'm going to say this was surprisingly decent with low RT what about 1440p that that's way too much right here we go it's 1440p set to Quality at the moment let's try it out like this for a little bit okay not even going to attempt to do it uh in the native resolution cuz of course it's going to run like crap quality dlss is also running like crap it looks so gorgeous though but yeah it's just just not a viable option it's it's dropping already into the 20s here let's do balanced hopefully it's going to stay above 30 come on still applying I think yeah it was still applying so now it's it's in the 30s okay can we get a 30 FPS experience with rate racing at 1440p balance cuz this is still looking fantastic like this again it has a some pixelation here and there and some noise and shimmering but it's okay I guess I would leave with it if I really wanted to play with rage racing I think it's not really needed but it's it looks so good that maybe maybe that could be an option for somebody uh that connects it to to a TV for example and once that console like experience with a controller yeah you could lock it to 30 FPS and have that experience if you wanted to just overclock the card a little bit and it's going to extract like three more FPS for example and then it's going to stay above 30 FPS when 100% of the time which is quite nice let's just use the performance setting here but I can obviously see a lot of shimmering here on these branches for example and leaves but hey it should be enough to put us above 30 FPS the entire time so it is an option and on again on a smaller monitor at 1440p if you really really want to use rate racing in this game is going to work actually with 30 FPS again I just wasn't really expecting this like in rization performance it was just slightly better than the RX 6700 XT these gpus trade blows in a ton of titles so it kind of didn't surprise me maybe a little bit because again we only have 8 GB of vram compared to 12 on the AMD GPU but with rate racing enabled this is quite a lot better I I think I only tested 1080p quality FSR with the 6700 XT and rate racing low and it was really really terrible so I just didn't recommend it alog together you know and I didn't continue testing it but this one since it was already above 30 FPS all of the time on quality dlss and 1080p with rate racing enabled but I continued and I I'm glad I did cuz this this is looking really nice um so yeah it's it's going to be possible for you to play with rt even at 1440p with decent visuals it's not real 1440 but it works really well and lastly my friends this is 4K resolution with performance dlss rate racing and optimized settings I went into the menu there so FPS went down by a little bit by like 5 FPS now it's stabilized and it's it's not hitting 30 frames per second this is way too much for the little 3060 TI okay you should not do this whatsoever but I'm still going to try like Ultra performance at 4K resolution okay which renders the game at 720p and then upscales it we got that Ray reconstruction stuff it's probably still applying the settings that's why we're seeing 20s no it's not applying the settings it's already applied everything it can go up to like 30 FPS in other areas but most of the time it's going to be below 20 uh 30 frames per second and look at this look at this over here it's actually dropping into the low 20s as well that's pretty terrible and pretty rough so at 4K resolution forget the use of Rage racing it's it's impossible with this GPU guys maybe if you set everything else to the lowest setting and then use rate raising on top of that uh it would work but what's the point right at that point it will look worse than just using no rate racing and optimized settings so that's been it quite a surprise using rate racing here with this GPU I wasn't expecting it once again and hey if you want to buy alen wake 2 with a 3060 TI go for it no need to be afraid of those insane system requirements okay thank you very much for watching this video don't forget to like And subscribe if you haven't already and I'll catch you in the next one very soon as always love you all bye-bye
