[Music] so here we are this is it guys this is the end game we all knew it was gonna come down to this we all knew it was coming i did emily in paris i did pretty little liars i did gossip girl i did chilling adventures of sabrina and we all know where i was going with this at some point or another i was gonna come for riverdale it was inevitable some might say it was the prophecy and boy do i have things to say i genuinely feel like this show is a twisted inside joke between powerful people in hollywood who dared themselves to make the worst show imaginable and just see how long they can keep getting away with it but now it's been half of a decade and they just don't know what to do anymore but i think it's time we sit down and have an honest conversation about this because this has been going on for too long and i have one thing to say riverdale is hilarious now hear me out when i say riverdale is hilarious i don't mean it's an enjoyable show in essence no oh god no no no riverdale is funny because a show with the source material this iconic has no right to be this bad and while i'm kind of mad at it for being so mediocre i also think it's hilarious and i'm not alone in this most people who watch riverdale watch it because they genuinely enjoy witnessing how much of a train wreck it is because yeah make no mistake even the biggest fans of riverdale will totally admit that the show is really bad hell even the actors in riverdale have been very outspoken about thinking the show is stupid and horribly written some have even gotten into very public twitter fights with the writers of the show everyone is very aware that this is one of the worst things on television let's not fool ourselves here how do you uh top of the gargoyle king for a villain this season how what's the look i mean he's a pile of sticks i don't think it's gonna be that hard riverdale is trash but how did it get so bad how did we get here after all the show looks kinda good i've seen worse acting and i even go as far as saying that the first season while flawed is pretty decent so what happened there is an argument of it being a cw show and the cw being the standard for mediocrity and tv but other people will argue that even by the cw standard riverdale is worse than usual and i agree with that why because i believe there is one very specific ingredient in the riverdale recipe that makes it so goddamn awful and that ingredient is roberto aguero sakasa the bane of my existence i already talked about him a little bit in my sabrina video and i mentioned a few things about his work that bother me to no end but believe me that was only scratching the surface you'll see but before we do that i want to take a quick moment to thank today's sponsor adam and eve you already know who it is i don't even need to introduce them adam and eve is the number one adult online store in the world yeah i introduced them anyway because i'm cool like that now if you don't know the year 2021 marks the 50th anniversary of adam and eve and right now if you go to adamandeve.com and use codespace you'll get 50 off of one item and also if you're in the us or canada you'll get free shipping and hey if you do end up getting yourself some stuff you'll be contributing to a great cause because 20 of their profit goes to fight the spread of hiv around the world and that's pretty awesome so thank you to adam and eve for sponsoring this video and let's get back to riverdale so if you don't know quick refresher roberto aguriza casa is the creator of the archivers which started in 2017. the archivers is composed of three shows but that's not important because two of them have already been cancelled and nobody cares anymore all you need to know is that the only show left standing in the archivers is riverdale and roberto aguirre sakasa is the showrunner he's the guy who makes the decisions he calls the shots oh and for all the angry people who commented this on my last video no the cw's nancy drew is not a part of the archievers it never was i did not forget to mention it it's just another show on the cw stop yelling at me so our boy rob here believe it or not used to be a writer for marvel comics he notably wrote a lot of fantastic four he wrote the trials of loki marvel divas the spider-man storyline in civil war nightcrawler like he's been around for a minute and for all the criticism i have to give to his work he has written some pretty popular comics and eventually he decided to make the move to films and television roberto loves romance nostalgia and quirky personalities he also loves sexualizing underage characters in a way that feels a little bit too excessive and creepy and more specifically he seems to really enjoy putting them in bdsm scenarios most likely with adults no like seriously that's that's his thing like he does that a lot it's kind of concerning and i'm not just talking about his tv shows here one thing to know about roberto wigurisa casa is that he has a very strange history with archie comics and by that i mean he is obsessed with these characters he is obsessed with them in a way that is a little intense to make it simple his entire career has been about taking archie comics characters and executing his weird sexual fantasies with them in it he's been trying to do that repeatedly since he was a teenager in his 20s roberto wrote a stage play called archie's weird fantasy in which archie andrews comes out as gay and has a sexual affair with nathan leopold yes nathan leopold the real life murderer from the 1920s i'm not joking it's a real story you can look it up archie comics publications even sent a cease and desist order to the theater one day before the debut performance they immediately shut it down so roberto had to change the name of the play and the names of certain characters to be able to keep going that's the level of intensity we're dealing with here when i say roberto is obsessed with archie comics characters i need you to know that i'm dead serious and if that's not enough for you he is on record referring to riverdale as a thirsty show that should really put things into perspective for you guys you just have to see his post on social media to get why he really is making this show especially some of the captions that go with it d is for damn archie's new bff in juvie is ripped just when you thought riverdale couldn't get any steamier kevin keller got hella swole jesus man if you want to make porn just say that anyways he did a lot of [ __ ] like that and he wrote for marvel for a very long time until eventually he got to actually write comics for archie comics as you know from my previous video he created the original chilling adventures of sabrina comic book he also wrote after life with archie and oh you know that awful archie meets glee comic book crossover that came out in 2013 yeah that's him too he made that and then he transitioned to movies and tv he notably wrote the awful remake of carrie that came out in 2013 he turned glee into an absolute [ __ ] show he wrote some of the worst episodes of supergirl and oh he also tried to make a sexy dracula show but abc thought the pilot wasn't good so it never happened and then after a few years in the television world roberto finally created riverdale so what is riverdale yeah this is a good question actually what the [ __ ] is riverdale i don't think i have the answer to that question i don't think anyone does seriously how do you even describe riverdale i don't think anybody can do that i'll do it riverdale is a pseudo-psychological thriller posturing as a consolidation of every beloved 90s teen show it thinks it's the prodigious love child of twin peaks and dawson's creek when in reality it meanders more into the flaccid early 2010s territory of pretty little liars while no one can discern just where exactly the plot is sitting at present its origins are simple the humble but insular town of riverdale has been struck by tragedy when its beacon of american aspirational masculinity has had the life sucked out of him by an unknown figure his death provokes a series of events which galvanize archie andrews and his gaggle of all american morally ambiguous friends to uncover the many mysteries of their elusive municipality joined by choogie silver tongued girl boss veronica bedevilled good girl betty sentient wild pad love interest jughead and safik can't mean girl cheryl blossom archie falls face-first into the everlasting secrets of his hometown the show's initial sensibilities of postmodern satire quickly began to crumble under its poorly constructed writers table devolving instead into a half-finished rube goldberg machine of continuity errors plot contrivances and disaffected actors waiting for their contracts to bring the final rattling breath so in short it's awesome well i yeah you know i was gonna say that i was gonna say the exact same thing so yeah riverdale is a bit of a crazy show it's hard to explain how it functions because it never stays the same it's a show that suffers from a bit of an identity crisis and i can't really figure out if it's because it doesn't know what it wants to be or on the contrary because it wants to be everything at the same time you'll see what i mean riverdale is just very confusing and as you know for me to dive into the show in a video i first needed to re-watch it see i used to watch the show week to week when it was coming out so i was having trouble remembering the events of the first two or three seasons because it's been like four years since the show started i needed to refresh my memory and make sure that i had everything on lock but that's an endeavor that can be quite challenging because at the time of making this video the show has a total of 86 episodes so going back to episode one felt a little daunting and i knew i was gonna have to persevere with this one because well it's riverdale and you know what it went pretty well all things considered the binge was long i documented some of it on my instagram story but i think i handled it properly i was pretty chill about it guys should we maybe re-binge making a murderer on netflix oh my god shut up now i feel like i'm ingrained in the show's dna i've seen it all and i saw the interactions online from the show and it's weird antics the 12 year old fans who have no idea what they're watching but adore the show because they think the actors are hot and they just live to watch them make out for some reason and the legion of grown white women who take the show way too seriously and talk weird trick or treat river babes what the hell did you just say to me riverdale is just a strange world both inside and outside of the show and i have too many thoughts to contain in my brain so i'm going to let them out so like i said earlier in this video season one of riverdale is actually kind of okay and i'm not being sarcastic here it's good it has a lot of flaws which we're gonna talk about in a minute but between the shitty music and the endless covergirl product placements season one is fairly enjoyable what works about it is mainly the fact that the story feels more focused and i do believe that it's due to the season only having 13 episodes instead of the usual 22. the other seasons are way too long for their own good and since the writers are not exactly competent they continuously need to come up with new ways to waste your time so they can get to the finale in season one though the pacing is actually kind of alright and the story flows just fine i also like that the plot of the season is super simple it's just teenagers solving a murder mystery and it doesn't need to be anything more than that our protagonists are not mma fighters in underground prisons or superhero vigilantes who kill people like it's nothing they're not fighting bears or aliens they're not at war with the mob they're just a bunch of high school kids who can't stop themselves from putting their noses where it's not supposed to be riverdale works best when it's simple and operates on shorter seasons and season one is an excellent proof of that i like how the town of riverdale feels really alive and i really enjoy how one of the primary themes in this show is that nothing is really what it appears to be in riverdale people are just really good at putting a mask on everybody seems perfect at first and the more you go down the rabbit hole the more you realize that a lot of things in this town just do not add up the tone of the show is also really neat i like dark stuff and the aesthetics of riverdale are really interesting i think i mentioned it in my sabrina video but if there's one positive thing you can say about roberto shows is that for the most part they look good the visuals are always on point they kind of play with this ambiguous time period thing and you can tell there's a lot of detail that goes into it at first glance you would think the show takes place somewhere during the 1950s from the clothes the cars the diners but then you'll see characters use iphones and laptops confirming that it is indeed taking place in present day and it gives the whole show this out of time atmosphere that i think is really cool however riverdale does fall into the same style over substance issue that plagues every single one of roberto's shows just like chilling adventures of sabrina riverdale is a show that is more interested in looking good than being good thankfully though when it comes to storytelling season 1 has its merits huh what the mystery of season 1 is genuinely thrilling there's a lot of useless [ __ ] that overshadows that story at times but on its own it's actually quite solid i really like the progression of it the reveals are clever and this is the only time i'm gonna use the term clever to describe anything about riverdale so appreciate it while it's there first learning that jason didn't drown but was actually shot then learning that he was planning on faking his death and leaving riverdale on the very day he disappeared and cheryl was part of that plan and then finding out he was planning to escape with betty's sister paulie and that they were engaged which was weird because paulie was put in a mental facility after having a breakdown and then we learned that she never really had a breakdown but she was instead sent to another facility out of town because she's pregnant and betty's parents didn't want anybody to know about it it was thrilling episode 12 of season 1 is easily one of the best episodes of the entire show i think there's only one that beats it but we'll talk about that episode at the end of the video episode 12 is the episode where most of the storylines converge into one and we finally get answers to a majority of the questions we've had since the very start the lead up to the reveal of clifford blossom killing his own son is insanely effective the scene where the twist happens is also really good and overall riverdale never managed to pack as much tension as they did in that one episode but not only did they do a fantastic job at giving us the identity of the killer they also did very solid work when it comes to explaining why the killer did it in revealing that the blossom maple syrup empire was a front for a massive drug operation and jason was trying to run away because he was being forced to take over the family business it was all really effective they do go a little bit too far with the incest reveal that was unnecessary but you know that's roberto aguero sakasa for you he has a bit of a thing with incest but we'll talk about that more later the entire unfolding of this mystery and the conspiracy going on in riverdale is actually engaging and i don't understand why they didn't want to stick to that very efficient formula it worked so well like yeah season 1 was rough around the edges but there was so much potential there to build upon in future seasons but instead roberto took everything that made riverdale interesting in season 1 and threw it out the window and he kept all of the shitty parts to crank them up to 11. it's a real shame now here's a thing that bothers me when talking about riverdale a lot of people look back at season 1 and are like oh season 1 was so great i don't know what happened afterwards and i need those people to calm down despite the praise i can give to season one let's be honest riverdale was never a great show and that includes season one season one definitely isn't perfect and a lot of the problems that have driven the show into a wall over time were already there back then to a lesser degree sure but i really don't like how people try to make season 1 sound like a brilliant work of art that was ruined by later seasons no it's a decent murder mystery but the cracks were already showing the awful dialogue all of the singing [ __ ] the plot holes the terrible characterization like season one isn't as great as people make it out to be even if it appears like a masterpiece compared to other seasons the only reason why it's superior is because season 1 is the only season in the entire show to have one storyline that's actually good but the rest of the season is just as awkward and mediocre as the rest of the show the pussycats are building a brand creating a signature look okay we're telling a story yikes and one of the things that don't work with season one is that while the murder mystery is good i don't think that it was efficient enough to carry a 13-episode season which makes sense because if you don't know riverdale was originally developed as a movie and it probably should have been a movie i think the jason blossom mystery would have been a hundred times more effective because it would not have been bogged down by all the other nonsense storylines wasting your time there's no way around it riverdale as a film would have been much much much better than a show but aside from that and all the writing issues i mentioned earlier yeah season one of riverdale is kinda cozy season two is where i and most people usually start to refer to riverdale as a bad show the first few episodes are still somewhat consistent with the first season and at first the black hood mystery set up in the season 1 finale is fairly intriguing i remember people being very excited about it but about one third into the season the show starts devolving into the historical mess of a tv series riverdale is now known to be it's also way too long oh my god this show drags on forever and it feels so aimless especially when it comes to the black hood storyline my personal theory is that the writers had no idea who the black hood killer was when they introduced him in the show because when you look at it hal cooper being the black hood doesn't make any sense it doesn't work and i think the writers picked him just because it was a popular theory online and that sucks because the black hood could have been such a great villain think about it the idea of a serial killer who targets sinners with broken morals could have been really effective as a theme to explore for the entire season because it kind of forces the audience to ask themselves what makes a bad person is it your actions your choices are you a bad person if you do drugs or if you have sex before marriage how does the philosophy of the black hood work if he only targets sinners what is his limit can a good person still be a good person if they have made mistakes in the past can a person change and evolve into a better person despite mistakes that were made in the past and does this killer take in consideration who his potential victims are now or are you a target the moment you've done something wrong even if it was years ago and if so then is there such a thing as a good person is that possible thematically the idea of the black hood is fascinating but unfortunately the show never really dives into that aspect of him he's just a tall guy in a hood who kills people and the more episodes go by the less the philosophy of targeting sinners actually remains and then the season just kept getting worse and worse with every storyline introduced in the show along with an impossible number of new characters that are all absolutely awful the black hood penny peabody sweet pea chick the ghoulies the montreal mob it just never ends and the few good characters that were in season one are completely ruined during this season there isn't one good character left by the end of it oh and also this happens we will find you we will haunt you and we will end you just imagine in real life there's a serial killer on the loose people have died and [ __ ] and a bunch of shirtless 16 year olds upload a video to youtube it's the most unthreatening thing ever it's just unhinged bryce hall energy i'm gonna knock out austin because i'm an actual fighter [Applause] i'm not a fighter i've never claimed to be a fighter anyway season 2 is just bad it completely misses the mark it's really messy and it's way too long this show definitely should have stayed with the 13 episode seasons and i gotta tell you guys i was not even halfway through the show by that point and i was already considering giving up i'm not kidding re-watching this whole show binging it from start to finish it was the hardest challenge i've ever had to face it was hard too hard for a while there i thought i wouldn't be able to make it i was falling into the abyss i was losing brain cells by the thousands and i didn't know what was going to happen to me i almost gave up i didn't know how i would survive it it was too hard the darkness was consuming me and i was alone to face it how could i ever get through these somber times maybe i should just give up give up but then somewhere beyond the darkness a light came to me a glimmer of hope someone to hold my hand someone to give me advice to give me the strength to get back up and finish riverdale against all odds an angel to help me through the tough times hello space ninja my name is marisol nichols i play hermione lodge on riverdale i know something about tough times i so know something about tough times see the problem is when you're going through tough times and people go to give you advice you don't want to hear it you don't want to hear that it's going to get better that you'll eventually get through it and get to the other side and become stronger and learn from it and be able to use it to your advantage in some way because when you're going through a tough time you don't want to hear any of it so how about i throw that in there to the side but then also what i do particularly when i'm like really just thinking about whatever it is that i'm trying to get through like thinking and thinking and thinking and just everything looks like [ __ ] pardon my french someone forces me to go take a walk when you are upset and going through some stuff it it occupies your mind 24 7. and it's really hard to pop out of it so when you walk and you start looking at life and you start looking at other things it can pull that just off of you just for a little bit and you get some relief and sometimes even can pull you off of it and you can like oh my god why don't i just do x y and z or whatever it is but i really do i know it sounds simple but it helps and um i wish you a lot of luck space ninja words of wisdom for my fight the heart of a warrior and just like that my courage came back to me i went for a long walk to clean my head and i returned home ready to face the storm i was determined invincible in that moment i had conviction [Music] but then i remembered i was about to watch season three and i got sad again season three of riverdale really sucks let me put it this way if riverdale officially becomes a bad show in season 2 then season 3 is where it officially becomes one of the worst shows ever made and i'm not exaggerating season 3 of riverdale is just so insane that it's hard to even describe and it's the point where people started to say things like hey remember when season one was just like a normal murder mystery because in season three the show just doesn't know what it is anymore and the approximately 700 plots going on at the same time are just really confusing there's a conspiracy around a board game inspired by dungeons and dragons called griffins and gargoyles the entire town is going against a being known as the gargoyle king meanwhile archie is imprisoned for a crime he did not commit but then he escapes from prison and goes on the run while being hunted down by the mob there's a drug trafficking subplot a mental hospital supply and while all of that is happening betty is fighting a cult that is overtaking the city and she has a new nemesis named evelyn who is the daughter of the man who runs the cult it's really weird and it's also very obvious that the writers are just making things up as they go with no real plans for their mysteries so none of them really work also floating babies there's floating babies in this season season three what was up with season three magic [ __ ] nah one of the biggest problems with season three and with the show as a whole for that matter is the fact that roberto and the writers really love shocking plot twists even when they talk about the show during press tours they keep promising massive twists and turns oh this season is going to have so many twists and turns you're not ready for what's coming and that's great and all everybody loves a good twist but i think we can all agree that a twist is truly effective when you know it makes sense the twist is supposed to be here to support and enhance the storytelling it shouldn't be the storytelling and that's where we run into the big problem roberto thinks plot twists are good storytelling even if they come out of nowhere and if you know me you know that this type of writing is a huge pet peeve of mine i talked about it at length in my pretty little liars video but god damn riverdale is on a whole other level it's a very simple notion they need to understand shock value is not storytelling because roberto's logic is backwards he seems to believe that a good twist's only job is to be shocking even if he doesn't bother to justify its existence in the story so major things in the show that should require some level of background or justification to function just come out of nowhere just for the sake of having a twist one example that comes to mind is the season three twist in which we find out that edgar evernever's mysterious cult known as the farm which has been a prominent part of the season up to that point is actually a front for an organ trafficking operation and not only that but it turns out that edgar's daughter evelyn who goes to school with betty and company is not really his daughter but actually his wife and she apparently suffers from a medical condition that makes her look much younger than she really is what the [ __ ] are you talking about huh no what the [ __ ] you i'm not this twist is not only random as hell but it also never leads to anything that impacts the story it's just here for the shock of that moment in the immediate present and it creates a number of plot holes and key elements of the story that were presented to us prior to the twist there's no foreshadowing there's nothing that points to it being the case and most of the functioning behind that trafficking is completely nonsensical and is not coherent with what we were told about the cult earlier in the season in other words it doesn't make sense but it's shocking so roberto thinks it must be good his twists do not serve the story in the slightest they're only cheap devices made to fake a sense of excitement for the audience and it falls flat because we have nothing to attach it to i've said it before but a good twist is surprising because of elements of the plot that were hidden in plain sight the entire time and it works because you're like wow how did i not see this the shock comes from the feeling of having been outsmarted by the story they tricked you they managed to flip your brain upside down and the reveal forces you to think back and see the story in a completely new light because all the elements were there from the start that's why people love the classic whodunit murder mysteries because it's the perfect formula to build a powerful twist it is literally designed to catch you off guard because you know the answer to the question is somewhere right in front of you but roberto's twist catch you off guard because well they come out of nowhere and they make no sense it's surprising but not in a good way roberto will just throw a twist at you for the sake of having a twist because otherwise he doesn't know how to make his stories exciting every episode of riverdale has like three or four or five very dramatic twists and turns that mean nothing to the point where after a while nothing can get a reaction out of the audience and like i just forget major twists presented in the show after like two episodes because they literally don't matter just come and go and have zero impact on the story or the characters everything is just very empty and that is actually the perfect term to describe riverdale season 3 empty not in terms of the narrative oh no story-wise season 2 is just mediocre but season 3 is absolute chaos it doesn't take a single moment to breathe everything is at 100 at all times but it's empty because like i said none of it matters it's so pointless and stupid cheryl is a vigilante who kills people now veronica is an underage bar owner jughead is the godfather apparently betty has been the same character since season one so who cares and archie is just god now he can do anything there's just too much of everything so i can't bring myself to care about anything because the story doesn't move forward it just shifts out of nowhere completely and becomes something else there's no real progression to the plot massive things happen and then one episode later everybody acts like that never happen and most of the time those things are never even brought up again for example it's only when we're watching the show that i remember that betty's dad gets murdered right in front of her in the season 3 finale i genuinely did not remember that and it's not because i have a bad memory or something it's because the scene in which betty watches her father get shot never has any weight on her character after that one scene he literally gets his head blown up right in front of her and then it's never mentioned again betty never has to deal with the trauma this should bring she never has a moment of grief nobody talks about the fact that this notorious criminal in town was murder season 4 starts and it's like it never happened because again the twist of her father getting shot in the head was only there for shock value bravo sir you are a genius bravo anyways foxy's m3 was an absolute nightmare to get through season 4 of riverdale is really boring god dammit the amount of times i had to fight to avoid falling asleep during this season jesus it's actually the season that made me tap out when i was watching the show week to week i eventually finished watching it for the sake of this video but back when i was just watching the show casually i officially gave up on riverdale about 8 or 9 episodes into season 4. the problem with this season is that all of the crazy antics that made the show somewhat enjoyable in an ironic way kind of fizzle out after a while you can only go so far with the it's so bad it's good route because it inevitably gets boring and the numbers gonna back me up on this one riverdale lost an incredible amount of viewers during season four the ratings took a huge dive i think even roberto realized he might have gone too far with season three because you can tell that season 4 is really trying to channel the vibe of season 1 but it's very clumsy the entire story of season 4 stands on the big reveal of a flash forward in the season 3 finale in which we learn that jughead is going to die under mysterious circumstances a few months from now and the plot of this season is supposed to tell us the story of how that happens interesting concept but it doesn't work here why because we know he's not really dead we're not stupid everybody and their moms know without the shadow of a doubt that roberto in his writer's room would never actually have the balls to kill off a main character so the fact that the entire tension of the season requires us to believe that jughead will die is really stupid and it makes the whole season kind of boring it reminds me of the third season of the flash where the entire tension of the season relied on the audience believing iris was going to die in the finale but it fell completely flat with the audience because no one believed it so everyone just waited for months to get to the finale to watch as iris inevitably escaped death as everybody predicted it was such a boring drag but we'll talk about the flash another time this show deserves its own video and believe me i would have loved it if they had actually killed jughead that would have been insane because it truly would have been unexpected if they had actually banked on the idea that no one will believe he actually dies but then they actually kill him i would have been on the floor i would have been forced to admit that riverdale outsmarted all of us and the writers actually know what they're doing that truly would have been a master class of subverting expectations we would have all been defeated but yeah no that's not what happens he's definitely not dead and the thing with that big season 4 mystery is that it wasn't the plan like at all they pulled that out of nowhere it wasn't supposed to be the story if you don't know what i'm talking about the cast of riverdale explained in an interview that the flash forward in the season 3 finale was originally supposed to have all four of the main characters in them archie betty veronica and jughead but jughead ended up not appearing in it because they shot the scene at 4am on a particularly freezing night and cole sprouse just didn't want to do it he literally refused to shoot the scene because he was cold and he didn't want to have to take his clothes off so they had to improvise and it created the whole jughead is going to die mystery that became the big storyline of season 4. and as a result they just had to awkwardly make things up as they went which isn't hard to believe because the mystery element of this season is just lifeless it's not as dumb as the gargoyle king and all that [ __ ] we saw in season 3 it definitely feels like a more legitimate intrigue but it just put me to sleep this entire season jughead is just trying to figure out why there have been murders around the identity of his favorite book author which leads him to uncover a weird conspiracy in his new school that is somehow related to his grandfather it already sounds a bit tedious on paper but trust me when i say it's somehow even worse in practice i just didn't have any feelings watching this season i mean except for that one death scene that i think stands out as one of the most hilariously random moments in riverdale i'm sorry jughead and i couldn't help you really anyways i don't even have that much to say about the season to be honest riverdale season four just feels uninspired and repetitive and stale veronica is arguing with her father all the time but he has been the same character since season one so who cares cheryl is hanging out with her brother's dead body archie is still in this show for some reason i don't know maybe it's because i was mentally checked out by that point but while season four is not as shamelessly horrible as season three it's still the season that left me the most indifferent it exists it's there it's still a bad show but it has been way way worse than this so however i would like to point out something that started to make me life quite a bit in season 4. it kind of goes back to what i was just saying about the way the show uses plot twists so i might repeat myself a little but i don't care because i just need to take a moment to acknowledge how hilarious it is that every single character in this show finds out at some point or another that they have a secret long lost relative it's an overused trope in fictional media and i get how it can sometimes be used as a clever twist but riverdale is so excessive with it that it's almost comedic as soon as roberto and his little padawans don't know what to write they just pull a secret relative out of their asses to throw it into the story for no reason in season 1 we learned that the blossom family and the cooper family are secretly related why no reason it's just there in season 2 cheryl finds out that her father had a secret twin brother who fled the family years ago we also find out in season 2 that fp and alice had a secret baby over 20 years ago meaning that jughead and betty both share a secret half-brother and you would think that this was it but it's not and in season 4 archie finds out that his father also has a secret brother and he only reveals himself to archie when his father dies but wait there is more also in season 4 cheryl finds out that she was actually a twin but she supposedly ate her secret unborn twin brother in the womb and in that same season veronica finds out that she has a secret older sister named hermosa who has been working for their father in the shadow and the funniest thing about that is that the show never really explains why these people are kept secret they just appear out of nowhere and there's just never an explanation as of why nobody knew they existed sometimes i can't believe the show is actually real like can we just take a moment to take that in riverdale exists like that it's a thing is it just me doesn't that blow your mind yeah whatever and then there is season five finally a light at the end of the tunnel now i should probably mention that season 5 at the time of recording this is still ongoing there are only 10 episodes out the latest episode came out in march after which the show had to go on an extended hiatus because they apparently had issues on set due to the covet 19 pandemic which sucks that can't be easy on them now season 5 of riverdale was by far the most intriguing since season 1. and not just for me for a lot of people and that's because it was announced a few months before its release that season 5 would take place seven years after the events of season 4. it's a pretty huge time jump and essentially people got really intrigued by the idea of the show reintroducing all the characters we know as adults there was a lot of talk about it online actually and a lot of people seemed to believe that the time jump was going to serve as a soft reboot for the show in an effort to make it better and fix the massive issues that were created by the sheer mediocrity of the last three seasons in other words people saw season 5 as a perfect occasion to save riverdale an opportunity to improve drastically and ride the ship because the power of a time jump in a story is really effective if used properly usually time jumps are a way to shift the status quo you can change all of the circumstances around the story the characters will be different there's a lot of history now that we don't know about and it can create interesting mysteries it's a perfect way to start a new story and to revamp the character development and for riverdale a time jump was a golden ticket to get the show out of its own misery and incoherence so people actually allowed themselves to get excited for season 5 even those who had given up on the show a long time ago and in typical riverdale fashion the show let everyone down season 5 is probably the worst use of a time jump i've ever seen it's even worse than the pretty little liars one and that one is pretty bad the time jump here is completely useless and completely stupid because everything is the same nothing has changed so for context the new story of the show is that riverdale is now a ghost town sort of it was dismantled by hiram lodge and officially riverdale no longer exists archie left for the army after high school and after coming back from a war he decides to leave the army and return to riverdale but he finds the city in ruins meanwhile jughead has become an author but he's broke and struggling and he spends his life running away from debt collectors betty is now in the final stages of training to become an fbi agent because obviously veronica became a successful businesswoman but she stopped working after she married some rich douchebag kevin is still in the show somehow and nobody cares about cheryl so in a desperate attempt to save riverdale from its terrible fate archie decides to reunite with his old friends and they all become teachers at their old high school to rebuild the town's infrastructure i know this last part sounded like a joke but i swear to god that's the story but that's not all of the story see people were really quick to realize that season 5 was not an attempt at improving the show because the writers don't care so it's the same old [ __ ] let me break down for you the storylines of season 5 so far these are all real and keep in mind this is only the first 10 episodes that's half of the season so while tony tries to save the town from hiram lodge archie decides to become a fireman as well as a teacher and a football coach medi is having nightmares and hallucinations due to some severe ptsd after having been kidnapped by a criminal known as the trash bag killer no that's not a joke that's really his name betty's sister paulie who is now a prostitute mysteriously goes missing for like the seventh time i swear paulie disappears every three weeks she's a mess veronica has some relationship drama with her husband but nobody cares about that and jughead is abducted by aliens and he starts investigating the history of a strange being known as the mothman oh and he does some mushrooms at some point so yeah despite all of the hope there was season 5 turned out to be business as usual for riverdale the characters are 7 years older but they're the exact same they haven't changed or grown or anything they look the same they act the same they talk the same the time jump is just completely unnecessary and this season is just as boring as the previous one it is so painfully uninteresting the show has never felt this tired you can feel it reaching to try and hold on to its audience but season 5 is revealing itself to be the last straw for a number of people the show has been losing viewership at an insanely rapid rate over the last two seasons and i think the few people who still managed to find the show fun for its absolute stupidity are starting to be a little tired of it and seeing the conversations online it seems like many people are even less motivated to keep watching because the show was renewed for a sixth season which means another 22 episodes of this [ __ ] and folks are just done with it i get it like i said riverdale is a joke that has already been going on for way too long and when you keep repeating a joke too many times eventually not a single person will still find it funny the show really feels at the end of its rope it's kind of sad and i don't know why they keep going but season 5 is coming back in august for its second part and at this point i wouldn't be surprised if i hear that archie box thanos in space and that is where we are with roberto's weird creature that we call riverdale now i gotta say roberto confuses the hell out of me everyone hates his shows most of his projects have been cancelled because people just weren't watching them he couldn't tell a coherent story to save his own life but he somehow keeps being handed major properties that have been beloved for decades and he gets to do whatever the [ __ ] he wants with them seriously a few months back it was announced that he's rebooting both true blood and pretty little liars for hbo max they just gave that to him and okay it's not that i'm against the idea of rebooting these shows but why him that doesn't make any sense to me why would you give it to him now i know what you're thinking you're thinking the friendly space ninja do tell us how is roberto so bad at his job well i'm gonna i'm i'm gonna tell you number one telling a story that doesn't have a plot the biggest problem with how roberto tells a story is that the story itself is not a priority at all to him roberto doesn't give a single [ __ ] about being coherent with what he's writing he doesn't care and that goes for the plot and the characters character development does not exist in roberto's world and he also doesn't care about making his characters consistent we're gonna talk about her later one of the most jarring things in riverdale is how the characters personalities will just shift in between scenes and they act completely different depending on what that specific scene needs them to do there is no integrity or substance in any of them and that's because his characters are not written to make sense most of the time these characters are liked because they happen to be played by charismatic and super attractive actors and young audiences that are obsessed with ship culture just want to watch them make out the reason why this problem exists with roberto is that he doesn't even seem that interested in actually adapting these properties it feels like he just wants to make his wacky shows but the only way he can get people to watch them is if iconic characters are in it because no one actually trusts him to tell a good story riverdale has absolutely nothing to do with archie comics i mean sure the characters are there but aside from sharing a name and some vague physical features they also have nothing to do with the source material like jughead in the comics is not this grim homeless emo dude at the head of a biker gang who solves crimes with his girlfriend and aspires to become a writer he's just kind of a goofy kid who eats burgers all day long and chills with his friends he's also famously asexual in the comics and if you talk to him about pleasure he's probably gonna think you're talking about food because that's the only thing he cares about and now you're like well looks like that method worked out super well for roberto i mean look at riverdale it's super successful which okay but no it hasn't worked out for him riverdale is a lucky strike but roberto is one for three right now his two other adaptations were cancelled very quickly chilling adventures of sabrina had only been around for two years and katy keaton was slashed by the cw after one season it didn't even get to have an anniversary do you know how mediocre you have to be as a show to be cancelled by the cw they literally have no standards batwoman is getting a third season clearly it doesn't take much and also who are you how are you in this video the archivers did not work out for roberto it's a failed experiment by every sense of the term because he's not a good storyteller and people don't stick around to watch his [ __ ] people were excited for katy keem because lucy hale was in it but then the show was just boring and people stopped watching people were pumped for chilling adventures of sabrina for so many reasons but then the show stopped making sense and it turned into this weird musical and people got bored and stopped watching he ruins these beloved franchises for people riverdale is the only one still standing thanks to netflix but the ratings on the cw have also gone down dramatically and the only reason people are watching it is because they think it's funny and ridiculously bad the show is losing fans very quickly and it's not difficult to see why when you see the way roberto writes stories as a whole an overwhelming majority of plot points in his shows don't go anywhere and are often abandoned whenever he gets another idea of something he can do with his character as soon as he is done with a storyline and doesn't feel like working on it anymore he just moves on to the next one without taking the time to give it a proper resolution as a result major plot points and even entire characters just sort of disappear from the show without having an arc coming to an end and you're supposed to pretend like they were never there i guess like where the [ __ ] is ethel the issue with this is that because of all these shortcomings riverdale has a hard time keeping its stories interesting and in order to trick the audience into thinking what they're watching is thrilling roberto reverts back to the cheap trick of random plot twist like we talked about earlier which is one of the laziest storytelling devices ever known to fictional media pretty little liars fell victim to that and never recovered from it it's simple if you want your story to be interesting maybe just put some effort into it for once roberto just try am i putting some effort into it i don't mean having more shirtless characters on screen that's also not storytelling which actually leads me to my next point number two everything can be sexual if you're creepy enough this is a problem i've had with riverdale since the very start i joked earlier about roberto being obsessed with teenagers and sexual situations but it was only half a joke everything in riverdale is so overly sexual it's kind of weird don't get me wrong i know that teen television is hyper sexualized by nature that's just how it is in america but even by those standards riverdale kind of sticks out it feels like roberto wanted riverdale to be like an r rated erotic porn series with underage people at the center but because you know that's illegal and because the show landed on the cw he couldn't actually do that so he reluctantly hired adults to play teenagers and it's mainly showed through riverdale's obsession with not only sexualizing underage kids but more specifically putting underage kids in sexual situations with grown adults like a 15 year old archie having sex with his teacher while completely failing to address the psychological repercussions this can have on a teenager that very random episode in early season 5 where a bunch of teenagers make a bdsm snuff film to sell to an adult video store yeah we got people selling child pornography in riverdale now are you having fun also 16 year old betty doing a strip tease in a bar full of adult customers was particularly disturbing and not only that but also the show is like hey let's have her strip tease to mad world because that's a solid choice of a song oh and if that's not enough betty also ends up becoming an erotic cam girl online yeah we also have underage sex workers in riverdale now are you having fun and roberto really goes out of his way to try and make it look hot and to him the more inappropriate the better there's a scene in season 3 where betty has this interaction with an adult that is just weirdly sexual for no reason why don't you take off your shirt betty i want to see your tattoos does that satisfy you and because no i'm not done there's kevin sneaking out in the woods at night to find adult gay men to [ __ ] him i know it sounds like i'm making this up but it actually happens and i'm not saying that you can never put a storyline like that in a show euphoria did it for example but while i have my criticisms of euphoria as a show it does make a point of showcasing how profoundly [ __ ] up things like that are and it doesn't try to make it look like a fantasy like it doesn't treat the subject lightly and the consequences that come with such an experience drive a good portion of the story moving forward riverdale does the opposite they want you to think it's hot that archie is [ __ ] miss grundy look at how hot and sweaty they are there's a top 40 pop song playing over it it's so romantic it's cool that betty is being a camp girl as a result of what's clearly meant to be a dissociative personality disorder they want you to drool over edgar's body as he asks a 16 year old girl if seeing him shirtless satisfies her they make it look cool they sell the situation as some sort of sexual fantasy the audience should be into they go out of their way to make it appealing and it just grosses me out and i hate repeating myself because i made the exact same remark in my pretty little liars video but it just shows how insane it is that it has become such a common trope in television catered to teenagers are you alright dude is everything okay at home relationships between characters are the same way every conflict has to be resolved in a way that is just weirdly sexual cheryl and veronica have a conflict and we need them to resolve it well screw the idea of powerful character moments through conversation let's hash it out by having them twerk at each other in a dance-off archie and betty cheated on veronica and jughead by making out in a car well screw the idea of powerful character moments for conversation let's resolve it by having veronica and jughead make out in a bathtub in slow motion and then let's have betty threaten jughead to punish him with the whip haha storytelling oh and quick side note just because this one makes me laugh there is an episode of this show that is just an excessively obnoxious bumble ad yes you heard that right bumble the dating app hey right you busy not just swiping on bumble praying that the future misses mantle is within a 30-mile radius i'm not talking about cruising i'm talking about bumble look i'm sure you can find a well-adjusted handsome out and proud fella here the truth is love doesn't come easily to me these days or does it i was dying laughing in front of those sequences it's so funny and for the life of me i cannot understand how bumble approved these scenes because bumble is a dating app for adults it is legally obligated to only provide service to people that are 18 or older but all of the characters we see using the app in the episode are underage what the hell is there not one thing just one thing you guys can get right and finally like i said earlier roberto has a thing with incest he really likes it i think he finds it sexy the show hints at the relationship between cheryl and her twin brother jason as being somewhat incestuous and that's not me reading into things by the way season one has a scene where veronica literally says out loud that cheryl might have been in love with her brother everyone knows how much i loved my brother exactly but did you love him maybe in ways that a sister shouldn't love a brother paulie and jason sleep together and they have kids and then it's revealed they were cousins the entire time oh and then a therapist tells veronica in a very suggestive way that she might be obsessed with her own father so there is that those things are never expended upon by the way they're just dropped in the show to be there and then no one mentions it ever again so yay have fun watching the show guys number three dialogue bad this one is kind of self-explanatory and i'm not even going to talk about it i'm just going to show you a compilation of the worst lines of dialogue in the show and if you've never watched the show please know that what you are about to see is what a good 95 of the dialogue in the show is light and the other five percent may or may not have gone to trisha paytas enjoy in case you haven't noticed i'm weird i'm a weirdo i don't fit in and i don't want to fit in have you ever seen me without this stupid hat on that's weird if we're not careful our next play could be our last i don't need you to mobsplain what's best for my family yeah so i self-identify as a loner it's nothing personal neither was that papi that's it i don't care if you are a fred's kid you're off my crew the hell i am i dropped out in the fourth grade to run drugs to support my nano that means you haven't known the triumphs and defeats the epic highs and lows of high school football you know the first thing about boxing you'd be surprised by what i know about hot shirtless muscular cruisers so these are your [ __ ] i beg your misogynistic pardon i miss all that adrenaline the highs of a filthy huge sale talking smack with the guys they called me the she-wolf of wall street he's got abs now six more reasons for you to take that ginger bull by the horns tonight i'm so over the toxic masculinity in this hallway right now all right wakey wakey eggs and bakey you wanted fire sorry sheryl bombshell my specialty is ice is that enough did you have enough oh and if you'd like to see more there's like a million compilations on youtube usually known as riverdale crack because yes the show is so bad that it created a new kind of memes this is where we're at roberto is notorious for the atrocious dialogue in his shows and at this point it almost feels like he's doing it on [Music] purpose so i think it's fair to say that an overwhelming majority of riverdale as a show is just wrong but if there's one element of the show that makes people completely desperate it's the characters and when i say the characters i mean all of them regular characters recurring characters guest stars you name it it doesn't matter there isn't a single character in this show that works the main problem is that every single character in riverdale is as one-dimensional as can be they're created to fit a very specific cliche that is usually a well-known stereotype for movies and they're never allowed to be anything other than that and i mean it the characters literally describe themselves as movie stereotypes they do it all the time you're the perfect girl next door i hate that word i'm the damaged loner outsider from the wrong side of the tracks don't worry you may be a stock character from a 90's teen movie but i'm not and because roberto is so hell-bent on having them be the specific cliches the characters are never given a chance to grow into something else and they're stuck into a personality that cannot be moved by the story it's part of this little phenomenon i like to call bad writing you see people on the internet often say that phrase that you've probably heard before they say there is no such thing as good acting in riverdale and surprisingly enough i disagree the acting is not the problem in riverdale i mean sure there are some awkward moments of atrocious performances don't get me wrong but i genuinely believe all of these actors are perfectly capable of giving solid performances if given writing that allows them to do so but they're stuck in a storm of awful character writing and terrible dialogue that just cannot work hashtag free the riverdale cast let's get it trending on twitter but it's really crazy to see how the actors on riverdale all have the worst reputations as performers because of the show it's kinda sad kj apa is not a bad actor lily reinhardt has proven herself to be quite talented marcel nichols is an absolute legend and you would be completely insane to even insinuate that matron amick is a bad actress keith ulrich casey scott sarah desjardins luke perry they're all really solid actors they're not the problem here i don't even think meryl streep could make the riverdale dialogue sound good nor could she make any of the characters likeable because the biggest problem with the characters of riverdale is the exact same problem that killed the show itself and what is riverdale's biggest problem riverdale's biggest problem is inconsistency correct and inconsistency is a theme that repeats itself in every single character in the show you'll see let's break them down archie andrews okay so this feels like the right place to start one of the biggest problems i've had with riverdale from season one is a problem that still bothers me now in season five and that problem is i don't understand why archie is the main character of this show now yes riverdale is an ensemble but like i said in my pretty little liars video i've always been of the opinion that ensemble shows still have a main character in front of everybody else archie is the guy the show is adapted from a property known as archie comics he's always been the main character of the universe he's always the one dominating the posters and he's a staple of american pop culture you would think that he would be a huge part of the story but for some reason the writers always decide to put archie and story lines that are completely separate from the other characters it's a problem that is still present in later seasons but it's especially distracting in season one he's not even a part of the main plot until way past the half point of the season yet archie has an insurmountable amount of screen time in every episode he's always front and center but he's never part of the main story literally everyone is trying to solve a major murder in town and archie the main character of the show spends the first nine episodes moping around trying to figure out if he wants to be a musician or a football player he is such a boring character and if it wasn't for kj apa's natural likeability as an actor and the fact that he's too hot for his own good i don't think anyone would care for him the show tries really hard to make you believe archie is a good boy a man with stand-up human values he is the purest being on this planet the angel of riverdale he definitely never does anything that's absolutely insane no never archie is a golden retriever in human form i mean you know he did blow up cars pulled out a gun on some guy started a gang joined them off cheated on his girlfriend with their best friend twice became a trigger-happy renegade who got a kick out of beating people up in the streets at night abandoned his jubilee cellmates after escaping prison and causing absolute chaos and overall just being an incredibly selfish person who never thinks about how his actions will affect others but aside from that he's pure oh my god such a good boy such a sweet soul and i firmly believe that all of those issues come from the fact that archie is not really a character remember roberto's only goal with these archie comics characters is to be able to bring his weird sexual fantasies with them to life and archie is the perfect example of that even though that's the case with every character in this show he's the one that makes it the most obvious archie is not a character he's a thirst trap every storyline he is given is a very lame excuse for roberto to over-sexualize him and it's really hard not to notice it archie doesn't become a boxer or a vigilante because it makes sense for his character or because it's going to provide a level of character development for his arc no he has those storylines because roberto thinks it's hot when archie is shirtless sweaty and bloody so he writes things for him that will give him an excuse to do that in every episode archie is a porn character but without the porn he's done it all the sexy construction worker the sexy football player the sexy boxer the sexy inmate the sexy car cleaner the sexy vigilante they did this one three times the sexy military man the sexy firefighter he feels like roberto just looks at his adult calendar when he needs to figure out what to do with archie this season and he just writes down the first thing he sees sexy lumberjack okay sure but then let's have him get bodied by a bear so he can get back to the boxer thing but this time he has a sexy scar dude what the hell happened how'd you get those scars i was attacked by bear what you serious you were attacked by a friggin bear damn everything about archie is about him being sexualized even down to how other characters speak of him even in the pilot the first time we see archie in this show is when betty and kevin are spying on him through the window like absolute creeps and kevin goes on and on about how art she got ripped and is super hot now later josie refers to archie as justin gingerly veronica drools over archie and calls him the red-headed enzel elgort in the very next scene cheryl refers to him as the ginger stallion and betty literally tells archie that her biggest dream is for them to be a power couple all of that in the pilot in fact betty's entire storyline in the first part of season 1 is literally her not being able to get over the fact that archie is not in love with her and being mad at him for that veronica's first storyline is being stuck between wanting to [ __ ] archie and wanting to be friends with betty and knowing that she can't have both they beat you over the head with that message constantly they really want you to know that there isn't a single person under the sun who can resist archie andrews he's just too hot it's not a coincidence that archie's very first storyline in the show is about him sleeping with his teacher roberto seems to be really turned on by the idea of archie having incredibly inappropriate sexual relationships in his 20s he put archie in a relationship with her notorious murderer and now in his mid to late 40s he is having a 15 year old archie sleep with his teacher and you can tell it's a fantasy for roberto because he made a point of ageing down miss grundy for the show if you don't know in the comics miss grundy is also a teacher at riverdale high but she's a very old woman she's not very sexualized she's grumpy and she yells a lot and that's kind of it but in the show she's this hyper-sexualized version of the character played by sarah hayball who was only 32 when she was cast and the only personality her character is given is being horny and sure they allude to the fact that she stole the identity of the real miss grundy from the comics who is dead but come on he knew what he was doing and it's only after that storyline caught major backlash from the audience and was ended prematurely that roberto decided to paint miss grundy as a predator before killing her off out of nowhere in the first episode of season 2. she literally took the character out of the show as soon as she couldn't serve a purpose for his twisted fantasies with archie he just erased her from the story i also think it's kind of hilarious how roberto treats archie like a god amongst men he definitely has perfect character syndrome he's invincible some might say immortal he never loses a fight he gets attacked by a bear off screen and walks it off with a scratch the next day and every single woman that exchanges words with him wants to [ __ ] him it's especially funny in the first couple seasons because quite literally every time archie shares a one-on-one scene with a female character it ends with a kiss but like it happens so often that you start to wonder if it was just an inside joke between the writers archie has immediate sexual tension with every female he encounters doesn't matter if she's a teenager or an adult at this point i wouldn't even be surprised if roberto throws archie in a romantic storyline with his own mom and this is why archie doesn't work as a character he's a fantasy first and foremost everyone online complains that he never really had an arc or any growth or anything that makes a character and that's because roberto doesn't give a [ __ ] about that his only priority with archie is finding out what porn scenario he can throw him in this season to satisfy his kink that is the only purpose archie has and the only purpose he will ever have he will never improve he will never make sense and he will never stop being frustrating to you if you keep perceiving him as a character and this right there is the most important thing to remember about roberto he doesn't give a [ __ ] about the audience he's not making riverdale for fans of archie comics hell he's not even making riverdale for fans of riverdale he doesn't care about them he's doing it for himself and archie is the proof of that he's not really the show's protagonist he's just roberto's sex toy okay let's talk about ponytail now betty cooper so here's the thing i used to have a bit of a love-hate relationship with betty cooper i wasn't too sure why initially so i had to think about it extra hard while we're watching the show and i think i figured it out the thing is then i never really liked betty but in season 1 i really like her arc when you meet betty in the show she's being crushed under the unbearable weight of the expectations people have for her she's trying to be the perfect daughter the perfect friend the perfect student and that comes with a lot of hardship on a day-to-day basis there's just too much pressure on her and she doesn't really know how to handle it that's interesting at first glance there's footing there to craft a really interesting character but again we're talking about characters handled by roberto aguira sakasa so betty kinda sucks re-watching the show i realized the problems i have with betty cooper as a character are essentially the exact same problems i have with sabrina spelman in roberto's chilling adventures of sabrina she has the same annoying savior complex she thinks she knows better than everyone about everything she can't help but put her nose in everyone's business even if she's explicitly asked not to she has no respect for people's personal boundaries she's incredibly condescending and intrusive and she's also a massive hypocrite betty is a character who does a lot of really messed up [ __ ] in this show but at the same time roberto is not willing to treat her as anything other than pure at heart and it just doesn't work i'm sorry she's not a good person and it's frustrating because betty never has to face any consequences for her actions and she does some pretty horrifying things and even with smaller stuff i binge riverdale for this video and i'm actually surprised at how often betty just casually threatens people to murder them in this show she does that a lot it's kind of weird get out of my house not in here get the hell out of my house before i kill you the truth chuck or so help me i will boil you alive because if you do evelyn i will kill you and if you don't believe me ask around i got the black hood and you know what they all have in common they're dead consider yourself warned and i think it touches on how the writers have this weird habit to treat betty's mental issues as some sort of supernatural ability and yes even when the show tackles mental illness it does it in an aggressively sexual way for no reason and i think betty gets it the worst roberto will stop at nothing to sexualize his precious teenagers now if you don't know throughout the show betty is shown to have some sort of dissociative personality disorder which sometimes turns her into an alter ego that people like to call dark betty and the way they decided to portray that mental illness physically is by having betty wear dark lingerie a choker and a dark wig and occasionally she has a whip they even use that alter ego for a sexual scene between betty and jughead and like i mentioned earlier betty even becomes an underage sex worker online due to that alter ego but they never really acknowledge that it's a serious mental problem she's dealing with they eventually retcon most of it and brush it off by revealing that betty has something known as the serial killer gene but that also is never really explored beyond the shock value of the twist of learning that she has the gene instead they turn it into a weird plot device in other words benny uses her alter ego like a super power and it's always weirdly sexual for no reason dark betty will walk into a seat in slow motion on some top 40 pop music usually in a shot that lingers on her body for as long as humanly possible like they really want to communicate to the audience that this is supposed to be super hot and lily reinhardt is a beautiful woman so obviously she looks fantastic but when you're watching the scene in context it comes across really creepy and tasteless and you can tell it's not intentional in fact lily reinhardt revealed in an interview that she asked the writers to stop the dark betty thing because over time she became way too uncomfortable with how they were sexualizing it and she felt like it was actually taking away from the character's struggle with mental health and self-harm she just didn't think it was an appropriate way to deal with such a serious subject i think there was some conf you know people were calling dark betty and just imagining betty in a wig and lingerie and that's really not what it was what it was and now i think of dark betty as just when she has like when her rage and anxiety from inside kind of like just overflows it's not it's not the wig and it's not the outfits or the being a cam girl um it's it's just her inner demons kind of coming out when you you know you see betty um do her self-harm again this season when she's in under traumatic you know circumstances i think because the wig and the lingerie kind of made it seem like he had a dual personality right but also like it wasn't like it was almost too campy to represent a darkness it's like no this girl has real demons and it's not like a character it's it's her and so that's what my whole thing about the wig and the whole thing was it's like nope it's just one girl she also hated wearing the wig but mainly the first reason and if you ask me i just think it's kind of crazy how the actors on the show are constantly talking about how they want things for their characters to make more sense on an emotional level we'll talk about that more when we get to jughead but there is a pattern here i don't think it's a coincidence that they all mention it and even the other aspects of betty's character just do not work you see the writers really want betty to be the detective of the show seriously if they couldn't spell it out for you hard enough she literally becomes an fbi agent in season five because roberto doesn't really do subtlety betty is a character who is usually assigned whatever mystery has to be solved this season usually with jughead acting as her second in season 1 she does her own investigation of jason's murder in season 2 she is harassed by the black hood who is obsessed with her and she plays his little games in an attempt to discover who he is by getting closer to him in season 3 she is looking to unmask the gargoyle dude guy in season 4 she investigates stonewall prep the mystery tapes and all that [ __ ] and in season 5 she's investigating the disappearance of her sister paulie on all accounts betty is the main detective of the show but the problem with this is that betty is not as smart as this show wants you to think she is they really want you to see her as the girl who is so smart she could outdo any detective on any case she's batman she's sherlock holmes but her actions in the show do not reflect that at all she does the stupidest things throughout the seasons and there are moments where you just want to scream at her through the screen there's this episode in season 2 where chick and her mom kill a dude who came to her chick and they're trying to cover it up and get rid of the body and betty decides to take the victim's phone and she goes to pop's diner sits at a table turns on the phone and starts calling random people in the contact list for no reason with the victim's phone she just starts dialing numbers it's it's just so stupid but the show frames it as betty being intelligent doing her detective work but like who in their right mind would ev no you know what i'm not even going to finish this thought it pisses me off way too much and all that writing makes betty the perfect representation of how roberto doesn't know how to write consistent characters so it not only makes them very confusing but i don't think he realizes how stupid it makes them look as well i think one of the funniest examples of that is in season 1 during the episode of jughead's birthday see jughead keeps his birthday a secret because he doesn't like the attention for him birthdays are just a reminder of his endless childhood trauma and he doesn't want to have to celebrate it archie tells betty that it's chughead's birthday and he makes it explicitly clear that jughead hates parties it makes him deeply uncomfortable and he'd rather just go to the movies with betty and enjoy a quiet night in front of an old school film with his girlfriend so what does betty do yeah you guessed it she decides to throw jughead a surprise party on his birthday and that's not even the dumbest part the dumbest part is that betty actually gets offended when she sees the jughead is not happy about the party she's genuinely baffled that he's upset about it make it make sense cooper especially because she invited people at that party that jughead either doesn't know or doesn't like and watching betty being just so confused by his reaction is just hilarious and by the way that confrontation between the two is what eventually leads to the show's most infamous line of dialogue in case you haven't noticed i'm weird i'm a weirdo and yes the line is notoriously awful but i know a lot of people who have seen that sequence only know it out of context but it's important to know that within the context of the scene jughead is actually making a lot of sense here and he's kind of right it's just a party jug it's not just a party it's the fact that you don't know or even care that this is the last thing i would want just like archie betty does not think about how her actions will affect other people and all the choices she makes are driven by ego rather than goodwill in essence that could make her a really good character with realistic flaws but because the show is unwilling to acknowledge those flaws in a meaningful way she falls incredibly flat she's not my least favorite but i get why people find her so frustrating and annoying betty is just a whole lot of wasted potential and i honestly feel bad for lily reinhardt she deserves so much better moving on jughead jones so a riverdale conversation is brought to the table online it seems like jughead is always the one to be perceived as the favorite i've seen people also say that he is easily the best character on the show but let me ask you a very simple question do you really think jughead is a great character or do you just like cole sprouse because i really like cole sprouse he's a cool dude he's very charismatic and he brings that charisma to chughead for the most part i like his vibe his blatant overacting is always welcome in my life but despite all of that i can't bring myself to call jughead a good character because he's just not he's fine he's probably the least annoying one of the bunch but that doesn't exactly make him good does it oh and if i can allow myself a quick little nitpick one thing that i find particularly funny about jughead especially in season one is his narration the writers attempt to make him sound deep and stuff but if you actually listen to what he's saying you quickly realize that the [ __ ] this guy says makes absolutely no sense maybe it's just a forgotten closet under a well-trod staircase where it's just you and the mice and the spiders like an extra in a wes craven movie what are you saying dude are you high do you need a kit kat 80 of jughead's narration is absolute gibberish and while a part of me finds it funny another part finds it weirdly irritating because it's just lazy writing the writers don't really know how to make a character sound smart and well spoken in a way that feels real so they think that making them spit a bunch of nonsensical rambling with complex vocabulary is gonna do the trick because jughead is supposed to be this tragic author dude or whatever but i'm not stupid you can't fool me cw this [ __ ] doesn't mean anything and the mysterious music in the background is not going to convince me otherwise but awkward narration apart i surprisingly don't have a lot of things to say about jughead he's the most straightforward character in the show what you see is what you get if you take away cole sprouse's unique charisma you quickly realize that the character is pretty empty he's just the stereotypical broody hipster who is too dark for the world and that's it that's pretty much his entire character aside from the crown beanie that he wears all of his character traits from the comics were deleted for this adaptation i mean yes his constant desire for burgers is mentioned in a throwaway line in the first episode of season 2 but that's the most we get out of it i will say that jughead's arc in season 1 is pretty interesting on the surface more specifically his relationship with his dad is interesting fp being this broken alcoholic who struggles to make ends meet because he can't get over his breakup with jughead's mom was really solid and the reveal that jughead became homeless as a result was really fascinating and it gave us some pretty good moments in the season jughead knows his father is toxic and he wants to keep his distance but at the same time he can't bring himself to fully give up on him and on the other side fp is torn between a life of crime and his desire to be a better father for his children seeing him struggle to fight back against his addiction and trying to pick himself back up is honestly pretty good it's one of the aspects of the first season that i really really liked i'm gonna get your mom and jerry being home so we're all under the same roof but i just need a little time to do that not a lot not long a month two at the most a lot of people are mad that jughead is really just an emo kid with zero personality in this show and i get it reinventing a character at that scale should have come with some level of substance from the writers and while there were some hints of substance in season 1 that quickly disappeared in future seasons jughead is as flat as it gets as a character which sucks because the way he's built as this bad boy and son of a gang's leader could have made for great characterization and fantastic storylines the reason we didn't get that though is that the reinvention of jughead has absolutely nothing to do with the story or the character development it could bring him no it's all about making him sexy jughead is a dark and broody mysterious man a lone wolf but he's sexy because everything on riverdale is about being sexy i mean hell why do you think roberto decided to erase jughead's asexuality from the show is it because he has a problem with asexuals no it's because if jughead is asexual roberto doesn't have a way to sexualize him for his own pleasure so he would rather take away his asexuality to give him hot scenes with betty and company rather than give the community solid representation through an iconic character who is canonically asexual roberto can talk all he wants about prioritizing representation in his shows but the truth of the matter is if he can't sexualize that representation on screen he doesn't care about it and he has no problem erasing it but yeah i don't know jughead never really changes as a character it's always just more of the same with him and i don't really mind it to be honest he's boring as hell but i like cole sprouse so i'll take what i can get long story short this show doesn't work but it would be even worse if jughead wasn't there so that has to be worth something i guess right right yeah who cares let's move on veronica lodge okay okay everybody take a deep breath alright i know that veronica lodge is one of the biggest sources of frustration in this show and i understand but let's try to stay calm i'm gonna be honest for the longest time i couldn't figure out what made veronica such an unpleasant character yes she gets some of the worst dialogue out of the entire cast yes her constant movie references that have no meaning are incredibly annoying are you familiar with the works of truman capote i'm breakfast at tiffany's but this place is strictly in cold blood and yes her wokeness and hashtag feminism is incredibly condescending and superficial because performative activism full of random buzzwords is roberto's specialty as we've already talked about in endless detail in my chilling adventures of sabrina video and veronica gets it the worst i'm so over the toxic masculinity in this hallway right now all right all of those things have already been talked about at length online i don't think you need me to discuss it further to make it simple i think that aside from the fact that she's played by camila mendes and camila mendes is cool there isn't much to like about veronica that's pretty much agreed upon by everybody but why is she the character that pushes people's buttons the most why is she so frustrating to people i really wanted to figure it out and after binging the show i finally got it veronica is a character that doesn't work because she's the victim of an identity paradox what i mean by that is the basis of the character the very concept on which veronica is built is a contradiction let me explain see at first glance you could say that veronica is a character that serves as a commentary on generational wealth or more specifically the effects it can have on a person who was born in it that's fair but that commentary is a total failure because veronica as a character is not cohesive like i said she's a paradox and that's because roberto is trying to have it both ways on the one hand he poorly attempts to craft a message about the cold repulsive and morally corrupt behaviors of the wealthy by having veronica express a desire to change and no longer be the sport little girl of hiram lodge it's kind of a big part of her arc in season one and in theory it should work but on the other hand roberto also wants veronica to be his own version of blair waldorf and he's not really subtle about it everything about veronica is a copy of blair waldorf a bad one sure but a copy nonetheless the attitude the non-stop movie references the overly formal vocabulary like you can see from a million miles away that roberto really wants veronica to be like blair but that doesn't work because you cannot make veronica the bad girl gone good trying to detach herself from her wealthy family in an effort to be more human all while trying to characterize her the exact same way as blair waldorf who is a vile and petty spoiled child that completely embraces the fact that she's a bad person and enjoys it it cannot work it's only going to make your character inconsistent and confusing you're taking two personality traits that are polar opposites and negate each other by definition and you're trying to force them both into one character it makes no sense that's stupid in season 1 veronica and her mom are supposedly broke they were left ruined by the imprisonment of veronica's father hiram and they're trying to adjust to their lives in riverdale with the nasty reputation that precedes them or more specifically their reputation that precedes hiram and by default the lodge name in general on paper that idea is pretty solid and there's space to create powerful character development both for veronica and hermione veronica is ashamed of the person she used to be and she sees her moving to riverdale from new york as a new beginning as an opportunity to reinvent herself and become a better person so she wants to lay low she doesn't want to attract too much attention on herself she just want to be able to exist in this town as a nobody and evolve into somebody she can be proud of being in other words veronica is seeking progress and maturity or at least that's what the show tells us about her because you see there is a huge disconnect between what the show says about veronica and what veronica actually is when it comes to her actual actions in the show veronica has nothing to do with the description i just gave at all in fact she's the total opposite the veronica in action completely owns who she is and has no desire to change she walks all over people and is as loud as can be she has no regards for people's feelings she's excessively confrontational she consistently defies any form of authority she's rude and incredibly condescending she's a bully she uses her wealth as leverage against people who are in her way she's power hungry and has a bit of a superiority complex long story short she is everything the show tries to make you believe she's not or at the very least not anymore and don't get me wrong it could have been a clever take on the character they could have played the angle of veronica struggling with her own progress as a person and having moments where she slips back into her old toxic habits despite her desire for growth but that's not what the show does on the contrary despite everything she does pointing to her being a bad person the show keeps trying to convince us that veronica has changed mostly by constantly having other characters say it out loud i'm also going to the dance with archie and veronica she's actually really nice and trying to be a good person you think so so the issue here is that there are two very distinct veronicas in riverdale good girl veronica who has grown from her past mistakes and is learning to be better and bad [ __ ] veronica the walmart blair waldorf who is still a terrible person and never learns from her mistakes they are two fundamentally different characters with contradictory ideologies but the show insists that both of them are the authentic veronica lodge and it just doesn't make sense so it makes her character impossibly frustrating because as a result of that awful characterization every single thing that comes out of her mouth comes across as hypocritical because veronica will just switch personalities in between scenes and act in ways that make her very inconsistent and roberto trying to force these two opposing personalities together makes it impossible for veronica to have any sort of emotional arc or justifiable character development and that leads me to the second major issue with the character and that problem is that throughout this entire show throughout all five seasons of riverdale veronica has one storyline that's it the entire show one storyline roberto gave her one arc that is repeated over and over and over again every season every season veronica's arc is just going against whatever her father is doing it's always the same thing hiram has an evil plan he's trying to put in place veronica finds out about it she tries to stop him from doing that but then hiram outsmarts her and does whatever he wanted anyway things look bad but at the last minute veronica pulls a switcheroo and gets the upper hand on her father that or she's about to get the upper hand and hyrum pulls a double switcheroo and now he's winning again every season the only story her and her dad have is trying to one-up each other at every turn it's just an endless dick measuring contest between the two in season one veronica tries to stop hiram from coming out of prison earlier and taking over riverdale by buying key properties of the town for the sodal project in season 2 veronica tries to stop hiram from turning archie into a criminal and taking over riverdale by buying key properties of the town for the sodal project in season 3 veronica tries to stop hiram from turning archie into a criminal and taking over riverdale by buying key properties of the town for the sodal project in season 4 veronica tries to stop hiram from becoming the mayor and taking over riverdale by buying key properties of the town for the sodal project and in season 5 veronica tries to stop hiram from destroying what is left of riverdale by sabotaging key properties of the town for the sodal project the writers have literally been telling the same story over and over again for five seasons and they get worse at it every time at first it works because the love hate dynamic between veronica and her father is really interesting hiram is presented as this ruthless mobster who makes people tremble all across the country and he takes up the challenge of going against his daughter but veronica is his limit she's the line he won't cross he can't bring himself to hurt her in a way that would be permanent and on the other side veronica hates her father and actively works to stop him but she doesn't want him to die or anything there's still a part of her that loves him it's interesting for a while but the storyline is just ruined by the fact that it never ends they're stuck in this incredibly boring loop and the writers have no idea how to end it it's been five seasons and veronica is doing the exact same [ __ ] she was doing in season one nothing about her character has evolved nothing about her story has evolved everything about her is a never-ending cycle and as a character it makes her unbelievably boring pair that with the broken characterization she's given from the very start then you are left with a character that makes everybody want to punch a hole in a wall riverdale high first opened its doors in 1941 and hasn't been redecorated since apparently honestly i feel like i'm wandering through the lost epilogue of our town and the worst part is she's not even the worst character cheryl blossom cheryl is probably one of the characters i dislike the most not just in the show but in general if i had to make a top 10 list of the television characters i hate the most she would make the list no questions asked she would be right up there with ted mosby and elena gilbert and literally any character from 13 reasons why i pick one they all suck in my opinion cheryl blossom on her own perfectly represents everything that's wrong with riverdale every problem i have with this show every single issue i have with roberto aguirre sakasa in his writing all of it was framed together in a really shitty infinity stone that was then used to create cheryl and i hate it terrible characterization check inconsistent writing check literally zero character development double check excessive sexualization check painfully cringy dialogue check toxic traits being glorified by the writers check and i actually feel bad for cheryl because she is so painfully uncool she thinks she's cool but none of the other characters see cheryl the way she sees herself she's actually quite lonely because she's an [ __ ] and nobody really wants to be around her she doesn't have any real friends or family doesn't care about her the show wants you to think that she's super cool with these slow motion sequences where she enters a room very dramatically but nobody seems to think that nobody gives a [ __ ] about cheryl no one respects her the other characters are constantly rolling their eyes at her to a point where nobody takes her seriously even when she's being angry and stuff nobody actually likes cheryl in her eulogy at jason's funeral she even talks about that one year when jason decided to combine both their birthday parties into one massive super party and she eventually learned that he suggested that idea when he found out that no one wanted to go to cheryl's party and he didn't want her to be sad and i think the issue with cheryl as a character stands in one major factor which is the fact that cheryl has no reason to exist in this show after season one in the first season she is actually crucial to the plot she's the closest person to the victim of the murder everybody is trying to solve and she has secrets that provide answers to some of the questions created by the mystery she wants justice for her brother and at the end of the season her arc feels somewhat complete solving jason's murder is a very fitting and organic end to her story but for some reason roberto decided that she still needed to be a main character on the show afterwards and nothing ever justifies that it is painfully obvious in the following seasons that the writers have no clue what to do with her and her storylines definitely reflect that cheryl is a character that now serves as a device for the writers to waste time and unfortunately most of her contributions to the show after season 1 kill the pacing of the show she doesn't even have an arc in season 2 she's just kind of there all the time you could say that figuring out her sexuality is her arc but not really the entire story and the emotional repercussions of her coming out as gay are contained in a single episode they don't even bring back that disturbing storyline where cheryl developed a creepy obsession with josie and stalked her it's never explained and here's what pisses me off more than anything else there are people out there who try to sell that narrative that cheryl is sweet and a victim and they think she has a good heart and these people are insane cheryl blossom is an awful person and the writer is giving her a storyline where her family doesn't accept her for being gay and sends her to conversion therapy does not change that i am sorry let me remind you of who cheryl blossom is with these few little examples cheryl refused to let betty join the cheerleading team at school because she thought betty was too fat in fact she refers to betty as a dumb cow in the episode that follows she's stalked josie leaving insanely disturbing drawings in her locker and terrorizing her to the point where she feared for her life and she then framed the random guy at school because she didn't want to get caught letting him take the fall for her predatory behavior she set her family home on fire and then threatened to kill her own mother in a hospital if she ever told anything to anyone going as far as momentarily cutting her air supply to make her point she publicly outed moose as bisexual against his wishes and by the same occasion expose his relationship with kevin to the entire school she asked archie to be her date at a maple syrup party hosted by her parents and when archie expressed to her that he wasn't comfortable with being her date while having a girlfriend cheryl sent her mother to bribe archie into submission and try to sabotage his relationship with valerie and then when she tries to kiss archie at the party and he pulls back visibly uncomfortable she stops him from leaving the party by threatening him with the wrath of her entire family and the power of their wealth and she implies that archie's father will be ruined by the blossoms if archie walks away she tried to deny a gay couple's right to have a child by attempting to sabotage their relationship and trying to convince tony that she should be having the baby with her instead she dismissed the sexual harassment stories of girls at school and brushed them off by calling them [ __ ] should i keep going because this isn't even two percent of the list but i feel like i've made my point cheryl is [ __ ] awful and all of those people who try to defend her and say she has such a good heart she's literally a queen you guys need to recheck your value i get that you like madeleine petch i do too but i'm sorry there's absolutely nothing you can say to convince me cheryl is a good person she's just not i am so tired of this character i'm tired of her having 6 000 personalities that switch every 5 seconds i'm tired of her god-awful dialogue literally she refers to her brother's murder as his epic demise it's not that i don't like quirky characters but cheryl really feels like the writer go out of their way to make her as incoherent as possible it doesn't make sense in my head that a team of writers can craft a character that makes so little sense and actually think they're doing a good job it blows my mind and the reason why all those problems make me angry is because i know they will never be solved why because cheryl is a character that is not allowed to break initial characterization she's a character that is literally designed to not be able to have character development i know it sounds stupid and that's because it is but sadly it's also true cheryl is the sassy bombshell and that's all she will ever be allowed to be it doesn't matter what happens to her it doesn't matter how many traumatic storylines are thrown at her none of it matters because the writers do not want her to change they never want cheryl to not be the sassy bombshell so you're gonna have horrible things happen to her she's going to go through hell and you'll see her cry and you'll see her bleed you'll see her go through the torture but she doesn't change she's never affected she will immediately reset to normal cheryl as soon as the storyline is over and none of it will have any consequences on her moving forward cheryl is not a character she's an idea an idea the writers purposefully refuse to flesh out and i'm not talking about quick little dramatic storylines here no no i'm talking about really sinister storytelling the type of [ __ ] up storylines that in the eye of any decent writer would change a character forever but not cheryl not in riverdale not with our boy roberto at the wheel we can go [ __ ] ourselves for asking for some decent writing some sort of competent storytelling because roberto doesn't throw sinister storytelling for the sake of character development no it's just shock value cheryl tries to commit suicide she's good cheryl almost gets raped no problem there cheryl is tortured in conversion therapy who cares she doesn't cheryl almost gets murdered by the black hood she'll shake it off in two minutes cheryl is just the perfect example of how the writers of riverdale do not care they don't care they don't give a [ __ ] about the story they have no [ __ ] idea what they're doing they're just making [ __ ] up as they go and that's not me saying that that's lily reinhardt because we're like nothing we predict ever happens but also they don't they usually don't even know what's gonna happen like the [ __ ] they obviously make it up because they hate to say that but it's true cheryl is what happens when writers treat their audience like idiots i talked about it in my pretty little lives video and i'll repeat myself here and i am not gonna talk about cheryl anymore i'm done i hate this character she [ __ ] sucks i hope madeline petch leaves this show and gets better roles because she actually has talent and it's being wasted [ __ ] hell i think i need a kitkat now jesus let's move on kevin keller oh boy look i kind of feel bad for kevin i feel the same way about him as i felt about harvey king cole and chilling adventures of sabrina so i'm gonna say the same thing it's not his fault that he's nobody's favorite character the writers never gave him a chance they keep telling you he's important but he's not kevin is such an afterthought he's only in this show to fill voids and he's such a non-character that it becomes really hard not to notice by season 5 that the writers never allowed him to have a storyline that isn't directly related to his sexuality he's just the gay guy everything about him is directly linked to him being gay the writers have no idea what else to do with him he's just a stereotypical gay best friend and he's not allowed to be anything more and that's not me making it up even the characters in this show say it is cheerleading still a thing is being the gay best friend still a thing oh he needs some milk the writers are perfectly aware that he is just a token gay character but they don't know what to do with him so he just remains that in season 3 he even joins a cult knowing full well that it's a dangerous call just because this one girl he barely knows tells him he will meet hot guys there he gets angry when betty bails on him for guides but he also has no problem bailing on her on the spot whenever a guy gives him attention even when he's not there kevin is just used as the token gay answer the writers will literally write kevin into an episode if they have an idea for a not so funny gay pun they absolutely want to have in the dialogue so he'll just show up to say that one line and then he leaves the episode and we don't see him again not the kind of drag race i ever imagined myself going to but at least the guys are the rest of the time he's gonna be in the background of a scene and will only be given permission to speak if we need a corny line that sounds like teenagers right on twitter kevin is the one who will say things like their end game or r.i.p bughead literally the first scene where he is introduced the writers immediately have him categorized as the gay guy that is the only information about him that we are given as an audience and that is the only thing he is ever allowed to be in this show veronica lodge kevin keller veronica's new here kevin is gay thank god that's all he is that's all kevin ever does even in serious situations in the first episode of season 2 when everyone gets to the hospital after archie's father is shot by the black hood and is between life and death the first thing kevin does is go to betty and tries to gossip about whether or not she lost her virginity to jughead during the night like dude what the [ __ ] your friend's dad is on the verge of death in a room right next to you there's a killer on the loose nobody has even had time to process the horrifying tragedy that just took place everyone is worried and all you can think about is betty getting some dick what is wrong with you dude god he's just here to be the sex obsessed gay guy who cannot shut up about other guys being hot or about knowing every details about other people's sex lives kevin is a walking stereotype and a harmful one in many many ways he sells this really damaging idea that gay people are so insanely perverted that they can barely function in regular social situations and he's not an isolated case because remember the second cheryl begins to come to terms with her homosexuality she immediately turns into a creepy stalker who harasses her crush in the most disturbing way and the reason why i'm so confused by roberto portraying gay characters in such a degrading light is that roberto aguirre sarcasa is gay so what the hell man you would think that he would make a very conscious effort to make sure his gay characters are fleshed out and can be given a level of characterization that goes beyond the concept of being the insert gay person with no personality outside of being gay type character but no at every turn roberto either portrays gay people as sexual deviants or dangerous psychopaths anyways the other characters don't give much of a [ __ ] about him either the show really tries to hammer in this idea that kevin is betty's best friend but i'm sorry i just don't believe it betty doesn't give two shits about kevin and you can't convince me otherwise apart from the pilot the show never even makes an effort to develop a friendship between the two of them you never really see them hang out outside of the pilot but he will usually go to kevin whenever she needs to vent about something or when the writers need her to team up with somebody to do something away from the main four again kevin is only allowed in betty's storylines when the writers need to fill a void because kevin is not a character he's a blood device betty doesn't care about him neither does archie or veronica or jughead oh it's kevin happy birthday bud and just like the other characters he's an absolute dumbass because roberto doesn't know how to write characters consistently and they end up not making sense at all let me give you an example of what i mean there's a scene in season 1 that is so unbelievably funny because kevin makes so little sense that he accidentally comes across as the stupidest men to ever walk this earth in the scene kevin archie and veronica find out that kevin's boyfriend joaquin helped cover up the murder of jason blossom with fp jones kevin is surprised to find out that his boyfriend is a criminal i know that because he literally says you are a criminal because roberto is bad at writing dialogue but like yes obviously genius joaquin is a south side serpent they're notorious criminals in riverdale you've always known that and joaquin never had the fact that he was a serpent he literally told you the first time you hooked up and you said it wasn't a problem for you is is this a problem i won't tell if you will everyone has been telling you it's a bad idea to date a serpent because they're criminals and you ignored all of them how stupid are you joaquin do you know something i'm not talking to you as your boyfriend i'm talking to you as the sheriff's son that doesn't even mean anything you don't have any power as the sheriff's son dumbass you're just a regular citizen and an underage one at that so grab a kitkat and go to sleep no one likes you anyways kevin sucks and he's a tragedy to gay representation in media i feel sorry for you guys it's 2021 you deserve so much better as a community but believe it or not after everything i just said kevin is not even the worst representation in riverdale tony topaz okay i've hinted at it several times before and i knew i was going to talk about her she's one of the main reasons why i wanted to make a riverdale video in the first place but believe me when i say that i get no pleasure talking about tony topaz it's actually quite frustrating to me seeing how degrading the treatment of that character has been it's genuinely insulting and i believe tony topaz is a character that will serve as a powerful example of how demeaning representation can be for any actor of color who is thrilled to be given an opportunity to provide said representation well i think the character of kevin perfectly embodies how harmful representation can be if not handled properly i think tony is the one who hammers in that point in the strongest way so tony if you don't know was introduced in season 2 as a potential love interest for jughead she's a member of the southside serpents the local biker gang and when she first showed up people quite liked her and so did i vanessa morgan is really good in the role and from the moment she arrives she immediately gives tony a pretty solid sense of charisma tony is a badass she doesn't take [ __ ] from anybody she's also a bit of a lone wolf like jughead she's still young and is not too involved in the activities of the serpents but there are sequences that hinted tony being somewhat of a leader by nature which was really interesting for the future of our character there was so much potential there tony could have easily become one of the best characters on the show if treated properly and then roberto decided to write her into a forced romance with cheryl and that's where everything went wrong lastly did you always know that you're going to turn cheryl into an lgbtq character no and no i did not and i'm going to talk about that yeah in season 2 right around the time the tony's first storyline ends cheryl and tony become a couple and this is where some of the most insulting writing in this show begins to happen now full disclosure this is gonna be a little hard for me to discuss without genuinely getting angry i'm gonna do my best but please bear with me the regression of tony as a character happens so fast and is so insanely demeaning it actually blows my mind to make it short over the course of season 2 roberto turned tony into cheryl's pet and no i didn't say girlfriend i said pet and that's not hyperbole i need you to know that i mean tony goes from being this badass independent and also very human character with so many distinct personality traits to being a silent background character at cheryl's feet her personality disappears her interesting dynamic with jughead completely vanishes you never see her hang out with the serpents anymore even though they're like a family to her everything about tony as a character is a race from that point on all she ever does is follow cheryl around and she stands next to her quietly while cheryl does things or talks to people she loses her entire identity she barely even has lines in the show anymore now she's just cheryl's submissive little pet and it's infuriating she's in the show quite a lot vanessa morgan is a series regular but make no mistake every single second of screen time given to tony is about cheryl tony doesn't have storylines that would be too good for her no she's just here to be a pretty decoration in cheryl's story lines the white girl and i'm not kidding the most that happens to tony is at some point in season 3 she tells cheryl that she feels lonely because she's not with the serpents anymore so cheryl buys her a girl gang named the pretty poisons and she's like here tony i bought you new friends and it's just the pre-poisons are not even characters they're just eye candy they don't even have names i'm pretty sure they never even have lines of dialogue like they don't speak they're literally in scenes to stand behind tony the same way tony is only in scenes to stand behind cheryl and it sucks because the idea of riverdale having an all-female gang could have been intriguing but they're essentially relegated to being toys that cheryl bought for her pet because she was bored it's just so dehumanizing and it's even more frustrating because roberto has proven again and again that he would not be treating a character like tony this way if she had been white and it seems like i'm not the only one thinking that vanessa morgan herself seems to have a lot of strong feelings about how the writers treated her and her character if you don't know in june of 2020 vanessa went on a rant on twitter to express her frustration towards the portrayal of african americans in media and by the same occasion the portrayal of tony topaz tired of how black people are portrayed in media tired of us being portrayed as thugs dangerous or angry scary people tired of us also being used as sidekick non-dimensional characters to our white leads or only used in the ads for diversity but not actually in the show it starts with the media i'm not being quiet anymore later on she even added in another tweet that not only is she the only black series regular on the show she also is the one who is being paid the least out of the entire cast and as you can probably guess those tweets created quite a storm online and a lot of people got implicated now it's fair to point out that like i mentioned at the beginning of the video riverdale is no stranger to cast members publicly speaking about having a bad experience on the show or flat out disliking it it's kind of notorious for it actually so this wasn't too surprising it's no secret that the people on riverdale don't like riverdale skeet ulrich flat out admitted that he left the show in season 5 because he was bored of it i'm leaving riverdale because i got bored creatively how's that that's the most honest answer sam witwer who is by far the most wasted actor on the show even got in a twitter fight with the writers of riverdale after he publicly admitted that he thought the death of his character was dumb and that he didn't think the writers put any deep thoughts into the show like i said i have rarely seen a show being so brutally criticized by its own cast on public platforms and hell i know i mentioned it earlier but lily reinhardt declared in an interview that she thinks the writers have no idea what they're doing and are just making things up as they go seriously just watch any interview with the cast of riverdale they're all really awkward the actors are just so disinterested and bored and they literally never have answers to the questions being asked to them about upcoming seasons because they don't have any more ideas of what's happening than we do they're not stupid they know they're in one of the worst shows on television but anyways all of that is to say that riverdale is very well known for getting slammed by its own cast publicly that's just business as usual for this show so vanessa's rant was shocking sure but not surprising however it did make a lot of people talk so much so that eventually roberto personally responded on twitter and essentially admitted that vanessa was right we hear vanessa we love vanessa she's right we're sorry and we make the same promise to you that we did to her we will do better to honor her and the character she plays as well as all of our actors and characters of color change is happening and will continue to happen riverdale will get bigger not smaller riverdale will be part of the movement not outside it all of the riverdale riders made a donation to blmla but we know where the work must happen for us in the writer's room and you know what i'll give credit where credit is due i actually appreciate and respect that roberto listened he heard the criticism he acknowledged it and he made an effort to change things because yes they did finally give tony a storyline in season 5 that makes her stand as her own character is it a great storyline no it's riverdale but there was an actual effort there and i liked that i respect that does it suck that it took that much from vanessa morgan for roberto to understand his writing as [ __ ] and he was brutally disrespecting characters of color yes it sucks but he made an effort to improve and i appreciate that but here's why it makes me hate his work even more because by doing this roberto proved that if he wanted to he could make the show better he proved that he could fix riverdale and its insurmountable amounts of problems if he felt like it if he cared enough to do so but he doesn't care so he just doesn't try he won't make an effort because he doesn't want to he doesn't have to and it pisses me off because there are hundreds no thousands of writers out there of all backgrounds who would give everything to have a chance to make stories for these iconic characters to do them justice to innovate to make them as great as possible and improve on previous incarnations but instead we're stuck with roberto who doesn't give a [ __ ] who doesn't care about the fans who doesn't even try to make anything good why because he doesn't have to he's in charge and there's nothing we can do about it do you understand me now when i say i'm frustrated by the power roberto has think about it he has all of the archie comics characters and he ruins them constantly with his awful shows that for the most part get cancelled rather quickly that's a problem on its own but now he also has pretty little liars and true blood and he will turn these properties with infinite potential into other versions of riverdale all of them they're doomed roberto is synonymous with mediocrity he is the worst showrunner in hollywood he has proven again and again that he cannot tell stories but hollywood keeps rewarding him for it i can't stand it oh and it's not just tony who gets disrespected as a character of color by the way josie and the pussycats are just tragic as characters it's really sad how roberto treated them from characterization alone you already know how little he cared josie has one personality trait which is being the unpleasant musician who takes herself way too seriously and that's the only thing she's allowed to be in this show and then the writers just didn't know what to do with her so she did a whole lot of nothing until they decided to write her off the show and send her to katie keane but katie keen was cancelled so i guess her story is done now and that's already lame and all but it's even worse when you realize that josie is the one who's treated the best out of the pussycat the other two literally just stopped existing in the show without any explanation they weren't sent to another show they weren't given a proper exit they just stopped being a part of the story out of nowhere and no one ever mentions them again i mean apparently the pussycats are coming back in season 5 and they're getting their own episode but i bet you that by the end of the season they will be just as insignificant to the story and will go back to being background characters with no life i mean seriously just to give you an example of how much of an afterthought characters of color are the storyline where josie is stalked and terrorized by cheryl is never about josie even worse not only do we never actually get to see how that horrifying experience affected josie but the show ends up trying to make you feel bad for cheryl and they attempt to make her a victim by focusing on her emotional turmoil the writers literally go above and beyond to justify cheryl's talking and never bother to give josie an arc to wrap up the storyline she just disappears out of it so cheryl can get the spotlight josie's mother mira mccoy also gone without an explanation every single character in this show is treated with so little dignity with such a lack of human decency it's crazy oh look it's chuck the only male black character amongst the teenagers what should we do with him oh i know roberto said let's make him a one-dimensional sexual predator then let's get rid of him and never mention him again oh and let's not pretend like you remember bernadette don't lie i know you don't but yeah like i said earlier the characters in riverdale kind of suck riverdale has some of the worst character work television has ever known and when they do have characters that are okay you can be absolutely certain they will ruin them in future seasons alice cooper is a character that people particularly dislike but alice in season 1 is not the insane mess of a character that she is in later season she's just a very strict and judgmental mother who is also a bit of an [ __ ] that nobody takes seriously but she feels like a somewhat realistic character she's a journalist which i completely forgot about and she runs the largest publication in riverdale her character feels grounded in some sense of reality and then she goes completely off the rails i checked out on her when she decided to sell her house and abandon betty to join a cult oh and when she took betty's college fund to give it to the cult that's when i was like okay well there's no going back with her they did try to retcon all the crazy [ __ ] she did in season three by pulling a twist out of nowhere and claiming she was undercover for the fbi this entire time but even the dumbest person on this planet called [ __ ] on that alice is just a bummer penelope blossom was always a terrible character but i'm always impressed to see how they somehow managed to keep making her worse every time she's on screen i'm not kidding i caught up on the show and one of the last scenes of season 5 before the mid-season hiatus has penelope and cheryl trying to prevent the destruction of their home by a forest fire and they do that by executing a celestial prayer to conjure a windstorm and divert the fire's trajectory and by the way they succeed so i guess they're witches now the southside serpents were a good idea in theory in season one they're actually threatening and it seemed like the mythos of the terrifying gang from the other side of town was going somewhere it felt like the show was setting them up to become the big villains and i was down for that but by season 3 the serpents were completely nerfed in a way that i just don't understand they went from being a dangerous gang running the real estate and the politics of riverdale on the down low to being a gang of like eight edgy teenagers and leather jackets who never really do anything the concept of the serpent king that is introduced in season 2 is just so profoundly stupid and the idea that this title would be given to a 16 year old is too ridiculous for it to have any chance to work i don't know go figure hermione lodge is also an incredibly wasted character in season 1 she's actually very interesting and she may be one of the characters with the most depth out of everybody she's completely useless in following seasons though she's literally just there so i was almost surprised to see how compelling she was in the beginning she's morally conflicted and she walks on a very dangerous line between the life she wants and the life she's stuck in due to who she marries she's forced to do business with the serpent she's put in a position where she has to screw over the few people that have been friendly to her since her return to riverdale she's losing the trust of her only daughter like you really feel bad for her i also completely forgot that season one was setting up a romance between fred andrews and hermione lodge like that was a thing we even find out they dated for a while when they were in high school and they were in love but hermione eventually chose to go with hiram lodge because he was rich and fred was a good guy but he didn't have much hermione saw marrying hiram as an investment in her own future but season 1 hints heavily at the idea that she never stopped loving fred and then that's it their dynamic is never explored again they barely even have scenes together after season one the storyline just disappears without any form of real closure for either of them it's really weird it's really exhausting to think about these characters the more you think about them the more insane they become like it's it's just ugh i can't deal with this and then in another show of painfully lazy writing from roberto and his team we have the riverdale timeline i've already said it a million times by now but riverdale is a show that is just full of inconsistencies and that was already true in season one helm that was true in the pilot writers pay little to no attention to what they're writing because they don't care so everything in the show keeps contradicting itself or flat out makes no sense and i'm just talking about simple details the writers just forgot like kevin referring to archie as a millennial and later referring to the whole gang as gen z but also i am talking about basic information that the writers cannot keep track of let me give you an example real quick in the pilot archie mentions that jason blossom died at 17 years old but that's not possible why because jason is cheryl's twin they're the same age but we also know that cheryl is the same age as archie and the gang they're all sophomores which means they're around 15 years old in the pilot and it's confirmed in season 5 when cheryl graduates at the same time as everyone else so how can cheryl have a twin brother who is two years older than her this is crucial information that is given in the first episode of the show and it's already not making sense but i digress you know what i mean the writers pay absolutely no attention to what they're writing there's so little care so little effort it's almost insulting but you know what it is what it is it's riverdale we know what we're getting ourselves into and it becomes even more obvious when you take a look at the timeline the timeline of riverdale is so broken and so completely nonsensical that you think you're watching a time travel show but no there is no time travel no jonas cownwald no barry allen no marty mcfly there's only roberto and his terrible writing so let me explain to you why the timeline of riverdale is an absolute disaster and i think you'll get what i mean when i say these writers are some of the most incompetent i've ever seen buckle up this is a real mind [ __ ] in season 5 like i mentioned earlier after the kids graduate high school there is a seven year time jump forward in time and when that happens we are told that it's now the year 2021 but that makes no sense because that would mean that archie and his friends graduated high school in the year 2014. however when jughead faced his death in season 4 a few weeks before graduation so before the time jump we are told that he died on march 18 2020 and in the same season when veronica is accepted to harvard because obviously she is she is told on the phone that she will be joining the class of 2024 meaning she will be graduating high school in the year 2020 so that means that the season 5 time jump should be taking place in the year 2027 and not 2021 it just doesn't add up how did one year go by during the supposed seven year time jump and similarly if the kids graduated in 2014 that means that season 1 takes place around the year 2012 because they're sophomores they have two more years of high school to go through but in the pilot betty tells veronica that riverdale was founded in 1941 which is impossible because in the season 1 finale the town is celebrating its 75th anniversary which means season 1 can only be taking place in the year 2016 but that's also impossible not only because they graduate in 2014 but also because jughead fixed his death before graduating in 2020 so that would mean that four years went by between season one and season four but again they're sophomores in season one so we know that the story from season one to season four takes place during their last two years of high school which means season one should be taking place in 2018. are you guys still following me and that starts causing problems with the information we're given about certain characters for example in season 3 there is a flashback episode that follows all of the kids parents when they were juniors in high school at age 16 somewhere between the year 1990 and 1994 meaning if season 3 takes place in 2013 according to the time jump timeline the oldest the parents can be is 39 years old that makes sense except it doesn't make sense because in season 3 jughead's father celebrates his 50th birthday and that's not possible and you know what even if season 3 took place in 2019 which is the other suggested timeline of the show it's still impossible because jughead's dad could not be older than 46. and you want to know what the worst thing is about it you want to know what the worst thing is the worst thing is that roberto was asked about the inconsistencies of the timeline in an interview and you want to know what his answer was his answer was oh yeah the timeline's broken we we didn't really care we just hope people wouldn't notice we kind of thought we were going to be squishy about the details and just get into the new season and then hopefully people wouldn't try to reconcile the timelines and then he added only in riverdale can that time paradox exist yes only riverdale can have that time paradox but it's not because riverdale is magical like that it's because you're a terrible writer god damn it i can't stand this man how can you care so little how can you be so lazy somebody please give the archie comics characters to somebody who actually wants to write good stories oh wait we can't do that do you know why because roberto aguero zakasa is not just the showrunner of riverdale he's also the chief creative officer of archie comics so he decides everything that happens with these characters inside and outside of the show it's not just the show that's tuned it's the entire franchise because he's running it riverdale is my worst nightmare not because of the show itself but because it is a perfect showcase of how broken hollywood system can be sometimes and i know the cw has a reputation for continuously settling for mediocrity but this is on a whole other level and look i don't know roberto aguirres a casa personally maybe he's a cool guy you know like who knows i don't have a problem with him as a person i just have no respect for his work it sounds harsh and i'm sorry but it's true he's a terrible showrunner and in all honesty jokes aside as somebody who cherishes filmmaking and love seeing filmmakers on the rise really putting their all into their stories and all that stuff that makes movies and television magical to me roberto aguirre sakasa is the worst case scenario in my head i know i said it earlier but the thought that thousands upon thousands of writers who would kill to get a chance to bring these characters to life with respect and effort will never have the opportunity to do so because hollywood would rather let roberto turn them into his sexual fantasies is genuinely heartbreaking to me riverdale could have been something genuinely cool it could have been a stranger things type show with amazing characters and great stories and i know that it has become a universal inside joke to just watch this show be the pitiful train wreck that it is and it makes me laugh too don't get me wrong but there is a part of me that finds it kinda sad the fact that something as iconic as archie comics was given an adaptation that only survives for being bad i think it's sad the fact that roberto keeps being rewarded for doing the bare minimum i think it's sad and if i can give a bit of praise to the man i will say i think roberto is good at coming up with concept the idea of taking archie comics characters and dropping them in a gothic murder mystery was brilliant the idea of reinventing the character of sabrina spellman and her entire mythos in a horror setting genius those are fantastic ideas he could help develop but god damn it he should not be allowed to be the showrunner carrying these ideas on the long term he is great at creating intriguing concepts for stories but he is terrible at telling those stories afterwards he keeps proving it and it just angers me to see he's going to be the showrunner behind new versions of major tv shows people would have dreamed to tell a pretty little liar story that would improve on the faults of the original it impacted an entire generation of creators but it's not gonna happen because roberto is making it true blood had a weird lore that could have made for a great reboot but it's not gonna happen because roberto is making it we are going to keep getting these poorly written shows with no real story and no real characters awful representation for the lgbtq plus community for feminism and for people of color who apparently are also disrespected behind the scenes not just with their characters we are going to keep getting these mediocre shows that sexualize underage characters and actively ruin iconic entities from pop culture that people truly adore and would love to see brought to life in a way that does them justice and these shows are probably going to keep getting cancelled because riverdale was a lucky strike and who knows what he's going to get next i know everyone already thinks roberto is a joke i'm not teaching anything to anyone here but man it's just hard to watch i find it discouraging for filmmakers out there i'm not saying i want the show to be cancelled because the reality of a show's cancellation comes with hundreds of crew members losing their jobs and that sucks i never want to root for people to lose their jobs but i did hear a rumor that riverdale only keeps going on because most of the actors are stuck in their contracts which usually is six or seven seasons i'm not sure if that's true but if it is and that means they're just waiting for the contracts to end so they can [ __ ] off that means riverdale is on its way out this show is probably gonna end next season or the one after that which is a good thing because i really like that cast and i can't wait to see what they do after when they're not locked in vancouver shooting their show for nine months every year i'm pretty confident they're all gonna do great things they're gonna get great opportunities and they deserve it they deserve much better than riverdale riverdale is an anomaly that never should have worked and would not have if it hadn't turned into the biggest inside joke of the century but with all that said i'm gonna try to balance things out a little i just rewatched this entire show and somebody on instagram asked me what i thought was the best episode of riverdale and the worst episode of riverdale and i thought that could be a cool way to end the video in all honesty i believe the best episode of riverdale is in memoriam the first episode of season 4 which is a tribute episode to luke perry who left us way too soon this episode is actually really good they decided to pay tribute to him through the character of fred andrews who in the show dies as a result of a hit and run after he stopped on the side of the road to help a person in need and it was really well handled there's this scene where everybody sits down and talks about their best memories of fred and it's actually quite emotional shannon doherty makes an appearance in the show as the last person who interacted with fred before his passing which if you don't know luke perry and shannon doherty were both in the original beverly hills 90210 back in the 90s so that was also pretty powerful like there is a lot in this episode and you can tell they really put a lot of effort in for once and it's beautiful the episode is actually really well directed it looks so good and the final parade scene where the whole town gathers to welcome archie home with his father's body it's just it's great it's the only episode of riverdale that i can call great and it was just as effective when i rewatched it it's a very very well made episode i also watch interviews from the cast talking about how shooting that episode was therapeutic for them and yeah watching it you can tell how much emotion goes through their performances and the characters are written well the dialogue is much better like veronica talks like a normal person in this episode it's actually really refreshing to not cringe at her every time she says something your dad loved you whenever he looked at you there was pride in his eyes he was proud of you but yeah overall this episode is genuinely great and it holds up pretty well and when it comes to the worst episode of this show well you know there's literally five seasons worth of episodes to choose from because apart maybe from a handful of them they all could make that list but i think we all know what i'm gonna say right i think it's pretty much the answer most people have it's not gonna be an unpopular opinion it's the heather's musical episode of course it's the heather's musical episode all of the musical episodes of riverdale are the worst episodes of riverdale and frankly i hesitated for a hot minute to choose this one specifically because then there's also the wicked little town musical in season 4 that is just something else but in the end i just had to go for heathers and here's why while wicked little town could earn the title of worst episode of riverdale in some ways it still contained in the ballpark of riverdale the heather's musical on the other hand is not only the worst episode of the show but in my opinion it's also one of the worst episodes of television ever made period riverdale at its best is just very average and riverdale at its worst is whatever the [ __ ] that is cheryl i'm trying to be professional here can you not are we gonna have a problem nothing about it works the music sucks the episode story sucks the characters suck more than usual and so does the writer's incredibly lame attempt at meta humor yes it's untraditional but to me there's nothing more amateur than age inappropriate casting ha ha you guys are so clever did you high-five each other in the writer's room after this one the writing of the musical episodes is always frustrating because in order for it to work everyone has to act out of character and that's just bad good musicals know how to handle the music part while staying consistent with its characters let me explain what i mean in the musical episode of season 2 jughead doesn't sing at all and he also doesn't join the school's musical either that's because cole sprouse was fundamentally opposed to the idea and refused to sing because he thought that went against everything jughead is as a character as he explained in an interview at the 2018 comic con for me you know if if if jughead getting on stage in front of a crowd feels like uh it's in line with his character then then totally fine but he's fundamentally an anti-social kid so it doesn't really seem like something he would do this makes a lot of sense and it should have stayed that way let the others characters sing it makes sense for archie to sing it's well established that he's a musician and a songwriter it makes sense for josie she's a pussycat it makes sense for cheryl and kevin and veronica who owns a stupid speakeasy where she performs from time to time put them in the musical let them do the singing jughead doesn't fit in that scenario cole is right it doesn't line up with his character what he's asking for here is really basic writing just one little shred of consistency for his character but do you think roberto and the writers care no no they don't because in the following musical episodes he sings but again the wicked little town episode is right behind it not only because of the music but if anything just because of this one line just listen to us we're people not numbers we're generation z sir you need to get yourself a milkshake and just sit down forever so in conclusion riverdale is a glitch in the matrix a strange anomaly that never should have been able to exist for this long a twisted nightmare that will haunt our generation for a very long time but it's still better than i'm only impaired i'm kidding i'm kidding it's a joke don't come at me i'm kidding i don't actually think riverdale is better than emily in paris i have my limits okay i might be crazy but i'm not insane no riverdale is definitely worse rewatching it for this video was actually difficult i wasn't really joking when i said that earlier and i don't think i'll ever watch another episode i don't even think i'm gonna finish season five i'm over it good luck to those who can't stop when they finally announce the final season i'll probably tune back in to watch the series finale but that's it that's all i can do i have one [ __ ] left to give to riverdale and i'm gonna keep it to see how this disaster ends i cannot wait for it to finally go away six to seven seasons is way more than it ever deserves and i want to see this cast thrive in better things i'm done peace out hashtag free the riverdale cast hello friendly space ninja hi friendly space and jeff friendly space ninja hi this is my opinion aubry fidel hello my name is adna and i'm survive and i'm a survivor bird and i'm a survivor of riverdale riverdale is what happens when you combine boomers who think they know what's trendy and what teens are like with fanfiction i actually enjoyed the first two seasons of riverdale i think the mystery was good the actors were into it so all i can say about riverdale is that it is a guilty pleasure for me at the highs and lows for high school football riddell used to be a teenage mystery drama um but i don't know what it is anymore i started watching riverdale when i was in sixth grade riverdale is the best and i mean it okay the best comedy show i've ever watched i think the reason why riverdale has been on for so long is because so many people watch it ironically just to make fun of it tony like starts out really interesting and like cool and like a greater ginger video and then like she gets cheryl and she like loses basically all complexity i only managed to get through the first season which i thought it was okay and i think what is not enjoyable and what makes it go down is the romances in a way i kind of don't want riverdale to end because i just want to see how far the writers can go with this show the question is not is riverdale a good show because that that's just not the scale on which it exists after i turned it off the next day i forgot everything that happened there even here in france we know how much bad it is watching this show is self torture that's all i can see why and i'm just kind of over the whole 25 year old play as a 16 year old gig you know it's i think it's time that we start making shows for teenagers and then we start making shows for adults and we kind of nip in the bud this fascination of being a teenager with very adult scenarios because it's confusing to teenagers it's very obviously confusing to adults and it's just not healthy oh i wish for everything for the plot his life is like a big spoon for the plot you know an extremely sexy robinhood for the plot do we want the fifa
