not really too sure if that's going to damage more us than them but it's always worth for short I suppose I should probably get my civilians out the way all my goodness yeah yeah okay that this is fine as long as no one survives if they can't report it legally as a war crime hello there ladies and gentlemen I'm the sniffing brute and guess what we're back playing rise of nations extended edition this game is iconic it's amazing it's fantastic and it's quite possibly one of my most favorite RTS games of all time certainly at the moment there's not that many people still playing it I imagine given the amount of self-isolation we'll now we'll be doing in the coming weeks the player base of this game should see a very nice and smooth influx of players Wow and if you've never played it before 100% pick yourself up a copy of this game get a couple of friends on board my easiest way of explaining this game would be that it's like Age of Empires but a bit more slower paced with more Empire development and certainly not as long-term as say game of stellaris or hearts of iron 4 but it is an RTS game where you'll actually spend time investing into your nations strategy and approach it isn't a game which you want to rush into and overpower your enemy although you could do that and that's exactly what we're going to be doing so you best all be ready ladies and gentlemen because I've a spicy exploits strategy for you it just about destroys all of the ai's plans and cripples their Nations but it can also be used in multiplayer games to drive your friends absolutely insane by forcing them to just fundamentally not have an economy now doesn't that just sound really lovely so I guess it's time for us to sit back relax and get ready to enjoy quite possibly the only game in existence where you gain active benefits for murdering civilians so hey go grab yourself a cup of tea salute that painting of the Queen you have hanging above your computer and if you're feeling even more majestic today you might have even given the video like oh my goodness well done anyway let's dive into a brand new solo game so welcome ladies and gentlemen to our lovely game setup we're going to be playing as the lakota faction these guys are very very unique in that they can't actually build half the normal things in the game they have the power of the plains on their side and the pair of the plains is downright stupid and like all over civilizations in the game these guys can't grow food they also love to raid and they're all about spamming ranged cavalry just about everywhere quite often they're looked down upon by a lot of players for not actually being that useful but then again in this game just about every faction is ridiculously overpowered if played to one precise degree in standard when I say every faction of course me not the French the French are never good the locota are on the other hand now these are some spicy bad boys so we're going to be throwing ourselves into a very simple standard game of Rise of Nations this strategy does kind of work on any setup with any amount of players AI or / but depending on the setup it might change the way in which you actually approach this now I've gone for the city centers start and what this means is that we spawn into the game with a city center and that's genuinely it we have nothing else to add excluding our lovely four little citizens who can run about the map they are okay to say the least they're not the best units they're not the worst but they are certainly very useful because we're going to be able to use them to gain exceedingly wonderful powers over the AI so we have our one scout who's immediately charging off towards the AI city which will spawn roughly roundabout here if you're on a 4v4 map then players was born here here and here and here if you're on a 1v1 map then they will spawn effectively directly opposite to you this is fantastic news for us because it allows us to kind of choose the game a little bit oh and there we go we've got our first research up and running now as the lakota we don't actually gain resources from farming we can't even build farms of food instead we have to gain resources entirely from just having men exist or we've discovered the enemy capital of Istanbul lovely now as the Lakota faction we're very unique because we don't actually comply towards national borders borders in our opinion don't even exist so what does this mean well it means we basically need some food and then we can build a second city so we're immediately researching offer a civic tech allowing us to build a second city and then we're going to slam and place the second city down as close to the enemy as we can other civilizations aren't able to do this for the sole reason that they can't build outside of their own borders an exception is made of course for our faction who can build effectively anywhere they like provide it's not into the enemy so we're building a lovely small city right about here so there we go our new cities formed on what that means is we push the borders closer towards the enemy players this is actually really really important for us of course our remaining citizens we can just get them set up to start harvesting as many resources as possible remember the more citizens we have the better because more citizens means more food and this is our only way of gaining food is just having more citizens now the a is decided settle a forward City right here over in is naked that's great for them but they've actually made their first big mistake they are going to be regretting this one trust me now the reason why they should have never chosen to settle there is that this is in range of one of our cities what do I mean by in range what we don't actually have a physical reach over his neck but we very easily can what I mean by this is that we're able to actually build towers which are close enough to shoot the city center of his neck from the comfort of our own borders this is slightly broken because it means we can hit the AI and they can't hit us yes this is perfectly balanced trust me oh and of course we just so happen to settle next to some obsidian which means arches towers and forts and cities game plus one attack nice so our tower set up over here is immediately sniping away at this small city bordering us but we can actually get even closer by building say a temple and also researching the next Civic level allowing us to build another city so there we go our temple is constructed pushing our borders even closer towards ethnic what this allows for is yet another tower even closer towards ethnic allowing us to bombard the peasants before they can even build their little farms Oh No you thought it was safe to have your citizens walking out and about inside your own borders you were greatly mistaken mr. med met Oh No yes our lovely towers are just focusing on the poor little civilians as they walk through their own lands and of course you know what time it is it's time to build yet another city even closer towards the enemy capital actually it's probably best we attempt that after we take this small city sat next door to us so let's build a barracks allowing us to capture the city very early on oh no I feel sorry for all the citizens because of what we've got set up here basically the entire economy of this city here is useless they just fund a mentally can't do anything we're going to send our citizens in to actually bombard the env city I mean we have actually almost taken it oh no the AI of building a barracks next door to us whatever we ever going to be able to do to counter that well it's okay because our tower is going to simply destroy it before it's able to actually get finished yes this is fair this is very fair isn't it anyway is Nick is ours now normally when you capture a city it goes through a process of assimilation when it's assimilating it's not technically within our borders so we can't actually build on it the exception is made to us of course because it counts as no territory allowing us to construct whatever we like there in our case it means we can build a second temple sat down right here next to one of our existing cities for some unknown reason so there we go the temple is built and the assimilation is currently ongoing lovely stuff yes there we go perfect we've kind of broken the air at this point but they're not really sure how to respond they have built another city over here but it's not really going to matter because very shortly we're going to actually take complete control of the enemy capital city and there we go is Nick is ours allowing us to push our borders even closer towards the enemy what we're going to research is level free feudalism allowing us to build yet another city allowing us to get even closer towards the enemy own we've just researched religion meaning our borders encroach even further very nice and the other thing our citizens are going to be building is a lovely little lookout post allowing us to spy on the enemy so that we can see everything that they're up to and their own little borders not that they're particularly able to expand anymore because of how much we've kept them trapped in now one of the things we can do with our immense wealth is just build a fort as close to the enemy as feasibly possible like right here you see if this fort will allow us to push our borders even closer towards the enemy oh no the AI are attacking me whatever shall I do it's a good thing I can just research and send in better units to defeat them because my resource production is more than theirs not that it's particularly high but it is certainly built for rushing and there we go with the fort built our borders expand even closer towards the enemy allowing us to immediately take control of the die which they had now one thing we can do is to spammer a bunch of ranged cavalry these units aren't necessarily the best of the game but they are very unique because for every hit they do they gain warnford of a building's production it's very complicated how the maps actually works out but what it means is that you can send this unit to harass and destroy the enemy's economy was also boosting your own economy effectively making raiding actually very viable so there we go every time we hit this lovely little wooden hut we gain a bunch of resources from it and we can even hit the enemy buildings from the comfort of our own borders that's how great these borders are I love this game now we are currently researching despotism which increases our plunder bonus which is very nice oh my goodness because we've researched despotism our borders have just gotten even closer oh this is just looking so much fairer yes Oh God civic level free push boarders now this allows us to build yet another city naturally we're going to build this city so close to the enemy's borders we're going to basically be able to touch Istanbul oh my goodness this game and of course it's a forest despair mode even more crazy overpowered raiding horse boys we're just going to sit in our own territory and bombard the defences of the enemy oh and there's our brand new city built allowing us to push the enemy's borders right into the enemy don't forget to build those temples in your own lands of course though what's that a temple in Istanbul that we can just destroy of course we'll do that or we can build some towers can we right let's quickly buy some metal and then we can just slap down a tower right here this is a tower which can touch the enemy city the enemy's capital city cards have hit oh this game I love it it is just so stupid this is just so unfair they are just forced to spend so many of their own resources trying to build units to send into our and land they just can't do anything they've really can't and with the level 4 research completed our borders push even closer towards the enemy allowing us to build a keep slap bang right here next the enemy's barracks so now we're going to be able to hit the enemy's barracks from the comfort of our own borders we can also pick up the fortification research making our forts increase their national borders so that we push even closer to the borders of Istanbul another thing we can build is the legendary wander of the Colosseum this improves national borders by +4 which as you can guess is a very useful thing to have on the Colosseum is almost complete yes when this is complete our borders will just be down roads Cupid I love it there we go it's almost done 80% complete it's done boy your borders are no longer safe my friend there we go the Colosseum is complete our borders push forwards even further lovely stuff oh my goodness we are just absolutely ruining the enemy from here so we've set up a tower over here which is able to shoot the enemy temple from the comfort of our own borders the enemy stable over here is almost actually in our own terrain so we're actually going to probably build a forward keep just sat next to the enemy border over here so that we can destroy its stable given time oh my goodness what a mess what an absolute mess so this basically just ruins the AI because they can no longer harvest these trees here or these trees here really damaging the AIS economy if you were a player there's not really much you can do to counter this right now for some reason our towers can out range enemy castles meaning this castle isn't able to shoot the keep that we're building on our borders and yet we're able to shoot back using it oh this is just downright very silly oh well this is just the world I've created I'm very sorry Castle this isn't fair at all for you is it there we go we have a keep set on the enemies borders which are just able to rain down a fair bit of chaos upon the enemy at the same time we might as well just build the Forbidden City on the enemy's borders why not that would be good fun this allows us to get even closer towards the enemy creating even more chaos which is as we know very profitable so we've actually managed to trap the enemy completely down into the south here because they can't actually get out of their own borders else they'll get massively attrition by us you know let's build the Forbidden City over here so that we can keep this city pinned in from the other side there we go we can already hit Istanbul and probably take Istanbul right now so that's a that's a done job really goodness the poor enemies they're just trying to really get as close to our borders as they can but they just can't quite manage it can they and there we go we've captured Istanbul the city is now ours lovely stuff a glorious success for us they did however move their capital city to somewhere over here so don't worry we'll find that bad boy oh my goodness I didn't tell my horses to do anything so naturally they're just running around killing all of the civilians please I know the Geneva Convention hasn't exactly been made yet for carboard these are still some cars are pretty crazy war chromes my friend and the Forbidden City construction is almost complete which will give us control of all of this region down here which was probably controlled by the enemy but there we go yet we now have our stockade set up which do twelve damage and can shoot even further there we go Istanbul has been assimilated and so it pushes the borders even closer to corrupt the crooks about to be pushed on the other side at the same time there we go Istanbul is ours oh and we just lost it because I forgot to repair it it's okay we can probably take it back in just about one shot anyway we have these brand new stock aids which have even more increased range so they're just downright fantastic and probably get a couple built on the borders now over here actually we could probably do with building a stockade right on the other side of the Forbidden City and there we go Istanbul is captured it is now ours lovely stuff oh and in true civilization fashion we are currently using Fuseli's riflemen against hoplites of the ancient era yes this is fair oh and of course we've built a massive fortification which is able to hit the small city of couric from the comfort of our own homes we build something even sillier like a temple just right here of course we can lovely stuff so yes we can out range the enemy cities meaning we can hit them from basically anywhere also our range cavalry now use guns and everything they hit we gain resources from stupid this border sets up it just makes no sense whatsoever there we go the enemy fort is getting taken down so couric is now going to be almost completely abandoned we're also researching existentialism which is it going to increase our borders even further at this point the enemy just don't have borders they have cities and then there's a tiny maybe ten centimeter gap around their city where they're allowed to actually build things I mean look at our borders apparently we controlled this bit of land here and this land here we haven't got anything in those regions karach is now just a tiny circle can only sustain one farmer because of what we oh I'm so sorry as you know I'm not at all this is exceedingly entertaining for me don't actually really need units they're kind of useless we've actually been quite successful with just not having anything and you've got winged all these cool Senate things yes to improve our leaders yep nice oh and Kirk is now going to be ours there we go suppose we could capture it or not we could just keep on borrowing it for fun I guess no that sounds that sounds much better here yeah I'll just the civilians whilst I'm here who do do to do shoot oh we accidentally captured just by walking in there fantastic you just missed the civilian you guys are terrible shots anyway we're now monarchy yep the borders are looking good you know as soon as we have some civilians over here how about we put them to good work build the red fort pretty crazy can't be built too close to other cities that's fine that's fine we'll build him vote him right there they would go lovely red fort right send a bunch of civilians over there to do that we have just completed most research as well which we do have all of our bombard artillery I'm not really sure I'm interested to see what city the enemy has set up over here which is causing my borders to freak out in such a strange way there we go we've completed with the research of electricity the turkish player is still using basic minds from what i can see i've pretty sure we're actually getting we're getting close to forming the united nations technically international law we definitely can't research that that's yeah that's never getting researched that would actually slow down this game we can't have that and I guess I can kind of just have my men build things like we could always build the Statue of Liberty for fun porcelain towers always a good laugh oh my goodness so there must be some kind of enemy city set up here because the Red Fort has just completely isolated it I suppose the easiest way we can see this is with a scout based air defense gun which has crazy vision actually wait we have spies I forgot we have spies we can just send them straight into enemy territories lovely yep here's the city of Babis Key lovely what a great little city we have whereabouts can we hit it from using Arsenal Cades okay so we can shoot it from there what about the city could we just put a city down next to them oh no but we could build a city just right here yes anything to force the borders into a stranger way what's this are they trying to build the Hanging Gardens why did you try and build the Hanging Gardens next to a massive fort it's a fully weaponized forward there we go let's build the temple again I don't think we can even reduce the national borders beyond this point I think this is just maximum this is where the game says okay fight this is as short as you can make it spiff you've bullied this AI enough please just let him live he's never going to live you know I can't let him live and what's this yes we've unlocked the flamethrower yes tis completely fine to exist yes I mean no national laws have actually been created that says you shouldn't have access to a flamethrower so this is actually perfectly safe ah yes the flamethrower it'll do perfect right there we go and just walk off flame for a boy in or can you do I'm actually interested as he's actually just resisting attacks my goodness all right I'm going to require you to just walk and say hello to the fields yes burn the fields since when do counterintelligence you can get informers built ok so that we can see the enemy's research progress what a great idea or is their library actually they even have a library how are they able to research things they've just got a university and that's it oh I feel very sorry for them so these guys can't even actually tech up because they don't have the building that allows them to take up right they just keep building universities but it doesn't matter cuz you need a library what are they doing the AI is just completely borked it's his unique situation right I'm going to build a stockade slap-bang in the middle of both of these lovely places and we're going to also take up to the modern age so that we no longer stockades we use bunkers instead oh yes bunkers this looks great I would like to say something along the lines if we weren't the aggressors in this but I'd know that's just a big fat lie we were 100 percent the aggressors in this there's just no counter to us absolutely no counter there we go we've completed the modern age and that means our lovely little bunker has been built can we use the u2 just snipe the enemy Caravan yes we can lovely but honestly one of you isn't really enough I kind of won multiple actually wait we could just build missile silos I forgot about those and let's build two missile silos alright so our bunker is currently sat here fending off waves of hoplites and slingers yeah doesn't particularly feel very balanced does it I do quite like that because we're in the modern age and the AIS and the roads are currently built on the understanding that we have tarmac this section here books it's in our borders and yet it goes from glorious high speed tarmac to dirt peasant Road you know what let's build a missile silo why not no I somehow doubt it's overkill seems pretty fair oh and cool we can build a nuclear missile perfect there we go we have developed nuclear weapons this is great news for us not great news for our enemies at respose it's not really good news for us either because this is the only game in existence where you can just straight-up end yourself with nuclear weapons speaking of which I think it's time we destroy the enemy temple which will get us even closer towards the enemy's borders oh and also we have a nuclear missile ready I guess we can just shoot that right over towards the enemies of a city not really too sure if that's going to damage more us than them but it's always worth a shot I suppose I should probably get my civilians out the way oh my goodness yeah yeah okay that this is fine as long as no one survives that they can't report it legally as a war crime there we go that's the second to last enemy city captured and lovely stuff and there we go with the temple destroyed that shrinks the borders even more now we just need to get rid of that tower it's actually build a bunker just next door to the enemy city this is fine this is perfectly fair there are a few ways we can get rid of their Tower we could send in our infantry or we could just send a v2 rocket over it's not very accurate but it should very easily destroy that keep alternatively we have a lovely howitzer which can just shoot from a glorious range fire yeah that kind of does the trick doesn't it oh wait we can also just hit the university fantastic love hitting the universities for the sole reason that it causes immense chaos amongst the enemy forces are we also have a v2 missile which we can just launch over at the enemy Tower lovely stuff yep and it's safe to say this game is now worn completely utterly then we have nothing they don't have an economy everything is controlled by us so by all means use this exploit on your family and friends at home and what's your relationship with them be utterly destroyed as they'll often end up saying things like well where on earth did that city come from stop destroying my borders and I never want to play a game with you ever again all of this can be yours just one simple copy of Rise of Nations and there we have it ladies and gentlemen the glorious victory we can even examine the game stats there we go as you can see we won on every single score front we lost exactly City nine units well it's amazing how that happens in terms of our economy yep we did amazing in terms of research we did amazing but naturally we weren't actually the first person to go into a classic age in the medieval age it's not worth investing the resources into that it's much better to destroy the enemy's economy with your stupid over-the-top national borders is a glorious school graph as you can see it's pretty normal it's nice and it just kind of increases as the game goes on here's the territory graph this is much better because as you can see we both start the game with about 10% of the map controlled and then there's a bit of a dip here and then I just keep going up and been up and up and up but as I go up the enemy goes down this is because the territory control in this game is just absolutely silly as you can see we control almost entirely the map yep this just basically sums up the game perfectly we absolutely smash them like I say this works against AI very effectively because their programming doesn't really allow them to think too much outside of the box but against most players this strategy also works early on there's not really much you can do to defeat a tower built next door to your boarders that's just continuously bombarding your forests you do basically just have to pull off almost entirely from that one forest section and early on in the game that's a huge impact to your economy and I didn't even play these guys as efficiently as they can be played because early on and in the mid game of this game you can absolutely swarm them out with a bunch of horse archers and these horse archers gain a third of the resource production of a building for every time they hit it so if you send out 60 of these bad boys just harassing the enemy lands then suddenly you're going to not only have the strongest economy you're also going to weaken their economy to just about nothing or worse controlling the entire map and there you have it ladies and gentlemen this has been rise of nations extended edition which is a perfectly balanced game which I strongly recommend you try out if you have indeed
