good set up, i've done similar things with ancient dangers. Instead of corridors I built a wood walled room with wood floors and a stone outer wall. With a quick exit door near the wall to the ancient danger I was dismantling. Then another door further away with a colonist and molotovs waiting to through one in once the wall breached. Turned out to be just one scyhther in there in the end so ultimately it wasn't needed.

Giant infestation just needs all non ranged pawns equipped with plasteel swords, I smelt any below masterwork, set to attack instead of flee on sight from enemies. Even the ones with 0 to 3 or 4 skill will decimate their targets.

It doesn't need to be stone, nor stools. You can do the same thing with wood walls and it works better IMO. Wooden walls take less pawn work. Plus it is easier to vent and reenter after the bugs are dead. The outside walls could be stone but it's not necessary.

50 stools is resource intensive at 750 wood. Instead set the 5x10 to wooden floor. Let the 150 wood be brought and then the floor cancelled before the work starts. You've now got a 5x10 section with 3 wood on each square which is then forbidden. Set that on fire for 1/5th the cost in wood.

I also feel there is a maze design that uses diagonals that I haven't figured out yet. Going around a corner is slower than going in a straight line, and diagonals are more space efficient. It would make the chunks unnecessary, and/or allow for a smaller trap room and therefore less resources. As that design is now, it is a 30x19 room. That's a HUGE amount of resources.

BTW I'm very interested in a solution that kills the infestation without destroying everything in the hive room. There's good loot in ancient danger rooms. I'm extremely interested in a solution that works equally well against mechanioids when you don't know what is inside.

And now I want a mod where I put something in my rooms so that when a infestation comes they burst into fucking flame along with the entire room. KILL IT WITH FIRE!!!
