Looks like a 1-year old plane, except for the wood handles.

2 little things: Primo, the plane is already in near perfect condition. Almost no rust, no broken handle, the frog is clean, the sole isn't dented, hell, even the iron seems brand new (there is a lot of meat left). So, clearly, it's just a light restoration. Deuzio, the plane isn't in tension when he flatten the sole (I prefer the Paul Sellers method (1h08min video on plane restoration) on this specific point).

That being said, good video and it's a very nice plane. ;)

Andy's videos are incredibly soothing and well done. He's an outstanding woodworker and makes me want to use hand tools more frequently every time I watch him work.

Are antique wood planes worth anything? I have a few from Europe (likely Norway) from about the mid to late 1800s

I start by cleaning the plane with WD-40 and a fine Scotch-Brite pad I use a wire bush on the drill press to remove rust and polish parts I also use my drill press to polish the heads of all screws and bolts I start with 120 grit, then 220 grit, and finish with 320 grit This is lapping plate used for flattening my sharpening stones It works great for flattening the sole of smaller planes like this one Its critical to flatten the sole at the leading edge of the plane throat. I use a the sharpie marker to track my progress I follow this step up with a 120 grit sandpaper and finish with 220 grit Here I'm filling the throat to create a nice crisp edge from the throat to the sole This is crucial in preventing tear out when using the plane I'm using the grinder to establish a 30 degree bevel on the blade It also quickly removes any damages to the cutting edge I start with a coarse diamond stone on the back of the blade I'm using a honing guide to keep my blade positioned at 30 degrees. Now I just work through the grits on both the bevel edge and back of the blade See the description to learn more about my sharpening stones I don't like the thick "plastic" finish on the tote and knob so I'm using stripper to remove it I sand the knob on my lathe, which is much faster than sanding by hand Thanks for watching!
