[Music] just a quick video on basic masks in movie rendue and unreal so transparent background specific objects that we want to mask out as well as a crypt mat render pass hopefully this is helpful like And subscribe let's get started so this is my basic scene in Unreal Engine 5.3.2 which is the current one I'm on uh first things first is to enable the plugins that we need so just type in render pass and we just want to make sure we have movie render C additional render passes enabled and then you just got to quickly restart your project uh and that's the only thing we'll need plug-in Wise by the way we're going to use that plugin which is this guy we're going to use him for the Crypt mat uh object ID thing later on the first method we are going to you that I'm going to show you sorry is the PNG version which has the built-in transparency layer very popular and common um method for transparency in backgrounds so first thing you want to do is just have your sequencer set up and I've got a camera nothing crazy then just hit this icon here to open up movie render CU and then you'll have this unsaved config so I'm just going to jump in so just click it delete the jpeg in the plus setting just get the PNG sequence and then have right Alpha checked should be on by default and then the next thing you want which isn't typically checked is in your deferred rendering you also want to do accumulator includes Alpha and then check that and then then I'm just going to add the other Usual Suspects so I'll do game override so it's maximum quality and then I'll also do anti-aliasing override I'll do eight and four output um I'll just do sequencer underscore frame and then I'll just set my output directory real quick just make sure your FPS matches and that is pretty much all you need for the basic setup and then I'm just going to make sure I save this preset so as you can see I have a few other ones here typically how I like to name my uh movie render QQ presets is starting off with the uh resolution and then underscore and then I'll put the samples I have so with this one I had 8 spatial Time 4 temporal temporal and then underscore PNG for the file format and then I'll do transparency and then hit save and once that is done you just select it and then hit render local and after that's finished as you can see it exports out a bunch of pgs I forgot to put an output folder so I'll do that in the next one uh just drag it into Photoshop and now you can see there is a built-in transparency layer just like a regular PNG so then what you can do is just fill that and now you've got a background for a sky Alpha or whatever you [Music] want so this second method is useful for masking out specific objects in your scene using actor layers so you just want to make sure whoops I did not mean to do that make sure you have this layers window showing and if you do not just go to window and make sure you have layers selected and for example let's say I wanted to isolate my product which is this lamp so I'll just select it right click in the layer window and add selected actors to new layer and then I'll just call it lamp and then maybe I also wanted to select uh these blocks here in the foreground as another layer so then add selected actors to new layer and I'll just call that architecture so then once you have these layers set up you can toggle them on and off to see if they're working which they are then we want to go back to our sequencer add this to the queue and we can just edit our old settings that we use and then we'll save as a new um preset so I'm going to not use PNG for this I'll use JPEG and in our deferred rendering we want to just add two actor layers because we made two layers and then I'll just select lamp in the dropdown and then architecture in the dropdown and then just do the exact same thing in my output directory I also just want to make sure it goes into its own folder so so then I'll just do uh un curly brackets sequence name underscore date underscore time and then I'll just do save as find this guy and then just change it from PNG to JPEG and then instead of transparency I'll do actor layers and then hit save cool accept and then hit render and once that's done you'll see It'll export the full frame like the final image and then it'll do the separate masks and as you can see here we've got the mask of the architecture and then we also have the mask of the lamp so another good way to isolate specific objects you could have you know dynamic and static objects in a different layer or different products whatever you want really good for uh fine detail um customization [Music] and the final method I want to show you is the crypto mat for the object IDs and things like that so remember just have this plugin enabled that I mentioned earlier in the video and go back to your sequencer hit the movie render queue and now we're going to edit this guy so we can't use jpeg for this it has to be exr because it is a multi-layered image with data embedded in it so just go to setting exr and multi-layer file and then in the Deferred rendering no sorry and in this plus setting we will have object IDs uh as an option which is from the plugin that we enabled so just select that and then you can leave it on full or material or actor I find full to be the best but and material is Hit or Miss for me you can give it a go and test it out but I find full to be the best method and then we will save as grab this guy no back to layers I'll grab this guy change JPEG to exr and then I'll just do crypto mat and then save hit accept and render this guy out sorry before you click render I just realized we edited our actor layers we want to make sure we get rid of our actor layers in our deferred rendering so just delete these guys and now just save over the preset we made now you can hit render so once that's finished it's going to export out all these exrs then in After Effects you can just import the sequence create a composition and really basic setup just to show you just type in Crypt mat in the effects drag that onto your exr image and now you can see all the different layers that it has exported and for example if I have my Crypt mat selected just the typical workflow I can hit shift and click and that'll select my background change this to matte only so that'll now have a background so I'll call this crypto background and then can duplicate this put it at the bottom delete my Crypt mat so this will be my base render then I have a mat on top create a new solid it'll be red Chuck that underneath the mat and then just select it make it a Luma mat and now you've got a red background and as you can see here in this other composition you can also add text not the greatest looking thing but it also you know you can start playing with um the architecture here you can see I've masked it and then I can change the Hue saturation of that so just a really basic um masking tutorial where we can do background we can do object selection and crypto at hopefully this was useful click this video If it interests you also like And subscribe see [Music] you
