Reasons your garage trim fails—and how we can fix it

Today, we're talking about the trim around garage doors. My name is Mike Ricker, and I'm the owner of Crash of Rhinos Painting. Today, we're talking about the trim around garage doors, and how it can fail over time. Let's just take a look at this here right now. What you see here is this piece of wood and the rubber has begun to fail substantially around this garage door. This often happens on the west and south elevation, although it can happen on any elevation over time. This is simply failure just due to sun and the UV radiation that attacks these pieces of wood and rubber. What we do to repair this is actually remove this whole piece, cutting right down this line, removing the trim, installing new trim, caulking this trim in after we've fixed it, either with nails or some other bonding method. We then will prime and paint these to give you a brand-new looking piece of garage door trim that seals in your garage door well. That's how to replace garage door trim.
