today we're going to be ranking all of the support strategems in Hell divers 2 specifically the strategems that drop support weapons you could also consider your heavy weapon these are important as they take up one of your four strategy slots on each Mission and usually provide assistance in taking down tanky enemies nests and large grps quickly starting at at number 12 we have the laser cannon this is absolute hot garbage basically you have a heavy gun that gets one backup ammo cartridge but the gun is never going to need to be reloaded as long as you do not overheat it the heat is simply going to cool off as long as it doesn't reach Max effectively giving you an infinite ammo laser well then what's the issue with it it's just simply bad you're going to need to almost overheat it every single time in order to defeat basic enemies and in fact certain weather conditions like snow or cold make this take even longer to overheat which should benefit you but it still doesn't work to take anything down without almost overheating it then you also have hot weather which makes it completely unusable as it overheats faster this weapon does have incredible range being a laser and all so I guess it has that advantage to it but you're completely wasting a slot run running this every single time I do think it's better against bugs as you have large swabs of small cratons coming at you wayway the beam Across The Horde and many of them will go down against robots you need to hold the laser on one enemy far too long the benefit should be infinite ammo if used correctly however in the current state of the game they gave it zero damage not to say it isn't a fun idea because who doesn't love a large laser but just completely ignore this option and you're going to be far better off F tier the flamethrower is your standard flamethrower it will spray fire everywhere and burn over time the weapon in theory is amazing as it can ignore armor and take down everything that is until you actually use it and burn yourself more than the enemy against robots this is always a terrible choice because they're robots it really is that self-explanatory against bugs it can be amazing for spraying large groups away quickly and holding down the burn button feels just right but since it's only for bug bugs we do run into the main reason you should never use this bugs try to rush you and actually the specific bug you should worry about are the jumpers basically they're those mini stalkers that slow you down [ __ ] you thrash you to death instantly in groups yeah those guys they're going to bring that fire to you every single time or jump right over it and attack While You're vulnerable also the gun has one of the slowest reloads in the game it feels truly awful for really no reason at all since you need to be up close to use it and then protect yourself for a good 3 seconds I have managed to defeat some of the Chargers with the flamethrower which again is cool because they have armor and this kind of burns right through that but no that's not a reason to take this it actually takes far too long standing there to burn them and you're much better off bringing the Expendable or just the rail gun like usual the flamethrower is just simply a liability you're going to catch yourself on fire or waste far too many lives running it while the benefit is you look cool have a bit of fun and deal damage over time still never worth running F tier I want to like the antimaterial rifle I really do because think about it if you're dropping into enemy territory in order to complete tasks like sabotaging bases fortifying your own territory a sniper would be an incredible tool sit up on cliffs and Ledges using the jetpack and get rid of everything before it gets close to you and against the robots you actually can do this somewhat since their weak spots are often head shot it can be effective at picking them off or stopping more troops from being summoned however this just doesn't work in the game it's far more advantageous to rush into objectives with high burst weapons clearing everything out and taking down the big guys with better heavy weapons and the worst part about this is the anti-material rifle is more like a material rifle as in what about this as anti-material it bounces off all armor is an extremely ineffective against large armor foes I'm just under the assumption this needs a massive buff to the point where it should one-hot anything in the game other than the biggest enemies no seriously that would give it some sort of of use otherwise a sniper in a game like this is far too ineffective in combat and out of combat you just clear out an area for hordes to come at you anyway absolutely a great idea for supporting your team from a safe position but needs a massive buff to even consider using it f tier the machine gun is the first support weapon strategy you're going to use as if I remember correctly you start with it and it does the job nicely you get a high fire weapon that could spray and prey great for dealing with hordes as it has enough power behind it to be useful against some of the stronger enemies as well the main reason it's so low on the list is that you just do not need this weapon you want to be using the stall wart instead the machine gun itself has far less ammo than the stal wart has far less stability than the stal wart and forces you to stand still or more accurately kneel down still in order to reload this makes it far more of a liability especially since you're better off going prone to fix it recoil as well hell divers 2 is all about Mobility for the most part stay moving so you can deal with the stuff behind you or in front of you you before it's on top of your corpse and the Machine Gun makes that much harder to do also if I'm running an automatic weapon my job on the squad is to hold the trigger down and clear out waves all of the fodder should be completely wiped out so my team can clear out tanks and bases quickly and this weapon just does not have the ammo capacity to do that instead of being the support for your team they need to support you while you constantly reload the stall wart does less damage than this gun yes but you don't need damage with this type of a weapon you simply need to keep bullets piling into enemies and still be able to move around if need be not a bad Weapon by any means but something I've not used once in actual missions after getting the stal war oh and dumb down its RPM or you're going to run out of bullets even faster D tier the ark thrower is the weirdest item we have access to and Hell diverse 2 and that's because it's really freaking good yeah the ark thrower is actually a very solid option when fighting many different enemies first off it has infinite ammo so you never need to reload this and can let your ammo hungry teammates have the supplies then we we have its range the thing will charge up to hit a Target and leap that electric Trail to another enemy giving you a weapon that hits groups really really hard against bugs it's highly effective and will chain all the little bugs to death instantly and it's still effective against large bugs as well you can break the sides off of chargers with this and deal some damage to Titans as well it isn't the best for those situations no but it is still useful there so you don't go from amazing group support to useless when the big dudes show up and it charges up quickly letting that bolt get out and do its job the main downside is that it's highly inconsistent sometimes it just doesn't chain to the enemy in front of you sometimes it gets blocked by objects and often seems like even the grass gets in the way and it also wrecks your team dude when running this you must be in front anyone even remotely in front of you is getting chained onto and instantly dropped no matter what they could be so far ahead you're thinking oh I'm never going to hit them and boom it gains more range than it's ever had before also I can't stand using it against robots don't really know why but it just isn't effective enough the armored enemies like Walkers Hulks and Chainsaw Mad Men take far too long to defeat with this weapon here which are mainly what you're fighting there usually the chaining and having infinite ammo are super useful but the team killing and regular hits can make it tougher to try and use C tier the auto Cannon is probably the most unique support weapon we have at the moment this thing is actually very different from any other heavy weapon as it has several different uses basically you get a cannon that fires High powered explosive shots just below the recoil rifle in terms of power you get a backpack with this item that's going to carry all your extra ammo and unlike the other explosive weapons this backpack has a ton of ammo because of this backpack you can have a teammate wear it and reload you with the auto Cannon this reloads kind of interesting as it's so quick you can often infinitely fire until you're out of ammo and when running solo you can still reload the gun without dying yeah it freezes you in place but it's much faster than say The Recoil rifle or machine gun letting you get up and blast stuff again and it does feel pretty good to shoot with some pretty solid stability against armored foes it isn't the best to just get out of jail free card but aim at joints and weak spots and you can still take them out eventually the ability to fire this many explosives this quickly is very useful I would never recommend having several people on the team run this but just one of you and you might see a lot less enemies on the battlefield personally I think this is good at clearing bugs under the tier of charger and very solid for most robots not the best against hulks but it will blast Walkers away easily and you could blow up their bases from afar with a bit of good aim kind of an explosive weapon which spray and praise a bit making it very fun to use and Powerful as well but taking up a backpack slot is tough since that's kind of something you w't open if at all possible C tier the recoiless rifle is your rocket launcher it fires high powerered explosive meant for blowing up tanks Hulk Chargers and Titans very quickly this one comes with a backpack so you can reload it several times sadly the reload time is really freaking slow making it hard to run solo now with a team you can have someone wear the backpack and reload you almost instantly which can allow you to shoot down several robot ships in a row or mow down Chargers instantly a highly beneficial support weapon for someone to bring making you effective against heavily armored units when they show up but here is the problem this item is simply not powerful enough it requires someone wasting a backpack slot and that backpack does not have a ton of ammo which usually means when the resupply comes you're not going to get your full ammo back in the backpack every single time at least not as long as everyone's taking one carton of ammo now this doesn't mean that the weapon is bad because two players running together in Duos trios or whatever can Trash stuff both of you take this and you have two backpacks full of rockets with two rocket launchers one player loads the other until they're out and then you switch when ammo comes back you still have enough Rockets between the two of you to be pretty useful as far as I can tell this is the best way to run the item the biggest fact factor that hurts this item is the Expendable exist which lets you use the same type of Firepower while still running another support weapon in between uses as well as a backpack the thing has a ton of power but it's also pretty hefty to carry around B tier ah yes the stalwart now this is a machine gun this is an automatic support weapon designed for laying down cover fire and laying it down hard you have just an insane amount of ammo in each magazine and as long as you aim down sides the stability is a nonissue plus it doesn't stop your movement to reload like the actual machine gun does no it is not designed for dealing with armored units at all but it is always there to deal with hordes because that really is the issue isn't it you aren't in trouble as long as your breaker shotguns loaded at least for hordes but when you get rushed and it's out of ammo now you're in trouble well the stall wart when correctly used always has enough to deal with what's chasing you and it's just a beautiful way to clear out all the smaller bugs so your team can focus on the larger problems well you could say it's not worth it because when a tank shows up you yourself have nothing to deal with that true except that the Expendable exists use the stalwart to most stuff down for an entire match when a tank shows up you drop in the Expendable fire off two rockets and go back to the stalwart it's the best way to support a team without having hardly any chance to team kill like the ark thrower can and you still don't eat through ammo keeping everyone stocked at all times the stal war is much more effective against bugs as when Walkers show up the bullets bounce off those robots but what it can do has helped stop reinforcement drops if you have someone covering you B tier the spear is both the best weapon in Hell divers 2 while also being the worst it's a real mixed bag that you have to use and really don't want to basically it fires an extremely large rocket this can't be fired unless the gun first locks on and only certain targets can be locked on to it can One-Shot Titans hulks Chargers and like I said pretty much anything big but it requires a really accurate shot if the lock on targets the wrong area it's going to take multiple hits and then you're heavily wasting ammo because your backpack only gets three extra Rockets giving you four heavy powered Kabooms in restocking on ammo gives like one back if I remember correctly taking this in a mission to one shot Chargers is a waste of time in ammo taking this in to get rid of Titans when you know they're going to be there that's good but make sure you lock onto a good spot mainly the head now this all sounds like you should just kind of avoid it and run The Recoil rifle instead but there is one major factor that makes the spear a must and that's going to be robot bases you know those factories that spit out Terminators over and over you can lock onto those from very far away and smash them in a single shot making base destruction missions an absolute joke and allowing your team to enter more safely which basically means the spear is meant for robots and will easily break them if only the lock on didn't suck and also this can't blow up ships in one shot for some reason yes even after all that the lock on on this gun is a real hit or miss and I mean mostly Miss you might get it to start and then all of a sudden it just fails for no reason you might not even get the lock on even when you clearly should and in tight spots there's no guarantee you're going to get that shot off as you just don't know if the lock On's going to be finicky or not still amazing at what it does but man the finickiness of this makes it real annoying at times a tier the grenade launcher is exactly what it sounds like your standard grenade launcher that fires explosive balls out into the battlefield this item does not have a ton of ammo and is a team killing machine if I have this you better not go anywhere near me that's all I'm saying but when you learn to correctly use it you have one of the most effective tools in the game one of the most common tasks you complete in this game is clearing out bases whether that be nests for the bugs or factories for the robots you're going to be lobbing grenades repeatedly but the problem is you only get four of these Beauties possibly up to six the grenade launcher is extremely valuable to a team as you become that guy with infinite base destroying grenades allow your team to use their grenades for combat and clear Miss missions faster this item also destroys eggs quickly and is great against robots as Walkers can be blown up which many weapons cannot deal with them quickly now the biggest issue besides that team killing is that the grenade launcher runs through ammo far too quickly you want to use it for nest in enemies but only have enough ammo for one or the other so how do we go about fixing this the grenade launcher is the best weapon to run alongside the supply backpack this allows you to reload your team or yourself with four extra packs of ammo I couldn't figure out how to do this for the longest time but five on the keyboard and I think down on the d-pad for controller grants yourself the ammo and with this you have infinite grenades basically which cover a large radius taking out enemies in seconds honestly it's the perfect weapon other than its ammo efficiency which thankfully we can completely fix a tier now we come to one of my favorite strategems in the game the Expendable anti-tank this is the most reliable strategy in the game that both you and your team can use to trash armored enemies basically the strategy drops down a with two rocket launchers each has one single round in them and will be discarded after every use anyone on the team can pick these up and the cool down it has is less than a minute with the upgrade so you can quite literally throw down rocket launchers all over the map if two people run this that's four total rocket launchers every time you see something big and it takes only one or two shots to change the battle altogether whether you're fighting bugs or robots if you bring this into any Mission I guarantee that no one's going to be upset in fact I played with someone the other day using this and even though they were very low level it felt like they were more useful than our level 50 no shade to him just that the Expendable really is that good and again you can run any support weapon alongside this since it's a one-time use you drop the Pod fire a rocket pick up the other rocket launcher fire that rocket and then pick up your support weapon you were using before then keep moving the game play is so efficient and smooth I imagine a full team of four each with this would demolish everything with eight total rocket launchers at almost all times you could still run grenade launcher for nest stal warart for ammo rail gun for everything and spear for the big boys the Expendable is just a far better version of the recoiless rifle letting you also wear the shield backpack and the more people that use this the better S tier the rail gun is the best overall support weapon in Hell divers 2 and there is no contest whatsoever because even the idea of this weapon makes it better than anything else what gives you the most trouble when playing hell divers 2 armored enemies that take more effort to take down well what almost entirely ignores armor allog together the rail gun this weapon is going to go through targets and penetrate even the toughest armor it also has two different firing modes that make it even stronger on safe mode it can be charged up almost instantly and fired to reliably stun targets and defeat lower tier enemies in one hit or you can put it on unsafe mode and charge it up to one shot some of the strongest enemies well not exactly most of the time it's like two or three shots but you can't get one hit if you get lucky basically the unsave mode makes it so that if you fully charge the gun to 100% it's going to blow blow up in your hands and kill you but if you let it charge just before 100% so around like 90 you get insane amounts of damage this lets you defeat Titans quickly blow up charger armor and one or two shot those pesky hulks chasing you down this item is also really hard not to use when just going up against robots as it ignores the mechanic of Walkers and can take out rocket mechs from 100 ft away top-notch range insane power fast reload good amount of ammo and great for Armor All Things you need when playing higher difficulties this might mean the Su that the rail gun's just too op and to that I would heavily disagree if anything the other guns are underpowered but even that is not quite the entire truth yes guns like the laser cannon and anti-material rifle those need a huge buff this doesn't mean that things like the grenade launcher or stalwart are weak though it means they're meant for a different job the rail gun can be reliably good in every single Mission but it does not deal with groups and it isn't good at completing any of the objectives quickly also it doesn't give your team anything other than just kill big stuff at least two people on your team running this is actually a good idea but if you have that it's a good idea to have two others maybe switch things into something else to round out your loadouts and save on ammo the rail gun is definitely the best but by no means a must which makes it perfectly balanced as all things should be S tier and there you have my rankings of all the support weapons and Hell divers 2o no idea if we're going to get more in the future but for now this is how I see each item some of these need a major buff While others feel really good at their job the rail gun's more than capable of trashing stuff for you but several other items should be at least an option to you as well the spear needs better lock on the antimaterial rifle should be two three maybe four times more powerful than it is but other than that you're ready to Lock and Load for the next hell dive get out there soldiers and Fight For Freedom
