Ranking All 5 Star Burst Animations | UPDATED For Sumeru!

this is a category 5 opinion warning of opinions other than your own are something that offend you greatly you might be in for a bad time clearly this is going to be subjective maybe you're a masochist in that case you'll probably enjoy it the chances that you and I are going to agree on every little thing in this list is extremely unlikely and yes I have done this before this was actually the very first tier list I ever made over a year ago now but since then many requests have been made to update it for sumero or just update it in general another thing that was requested by at least a handful of viewers was to show the bursts from not the player casting it from basically what people would see in Co-op so I'm going to do that but they're not going to be judged on because some of horizon comes new content for the game related to it we're talking new Champions and new artifacts at events and even more there's even a whole lot of champion bios that have just been added to the boy along with many materials that are essential to helping you build your account all of these rewards me waiting for you right up here in game kicking off this list is going to be Albedo I'm also not even gonna look at my old list if you want to compare the two and see how differently I rated them you can do that that's fine look because first starts off really good the particles around his hands look amazing and the effect is overall pretty good but I think if the finisher is where it falls flat on its face I don't hate any part of it by any means but it does feel a little bit underwhelming in its own way and for that reason Albedo is going to start off our list in the seat here Al Haytham one of the newest characters of the game I had to edit my list because I actually gave him a pretty bad rating at first but I watched him in slow-mo here I was like God damn the forming of his little field is amazing looking the way that spreads across the floor oh it's just beautiful I even use Al Haytham all the time but I don't notice it because when you're attacking enemies things kind of get lost in the mess so he's going from the initial b i put him in all the way up to f I think I remember being a little bit more kind to Eloy than people would generally expect considering I leave her out of most things her burst isn't bad by any means but against all the other five stars that we have hers is really starting to stand on just being kind of basic and boring and for that reason I'm gonna put her down into the date here probably my first real chance of this list have really pissed a lot of people off I still find ayaka's birth to be one of the most underwhelming bursts visually audibly literally every aspect of it except the damage it does and I think it's because of that because there's this huge disconnect because of how well it performs versus how well I think it feels to use there's no weight behind it the sound design I think is terrible granted the sound design is not taking into effect here but I don't like the burst period this one is a very personal dislike and I understand why a lot of people would like this one but I'm putting it down in the deter while generally I do really like ayato's burst animation I find certain aspects of it leave a little bit to be desired the flowers during the persistent effect of it looked really nice they're a nice little touch and the actual raindrops that rain down the whole time they also look pretty good the startup animation however that's where I feel it loses a little bit certainly not bad by any means but also just a very average one to me it doesn't really stand out some of the good persistent effect and uh I'd say relatively mediocre average startup I'm gonna give him about a b the actual newest edition buys you in a character I've been looking forward to for a long time and I gotta say the burst yeah I really do not have a lot to say about this every aspect of it is pretty plain snake on the shield looks cool the startup doesn't really amaze me the backdrop looks fine the effects look fine the swirls all of it is fine I give him a seal let's move on to something more interesting and when I said interesting child is not what I had in mind chop may be one of my favorite characters play but his burst animations kind of suck they're old they're basic and it kind of shows so he's gonna go hang out down in the D tier now this right here is what I was talking about by more interesting sinus burst is one of the best it has it changes his attacks into these awesome Claws and swipes it gives them a whole new skill effect which I don't know if you want to count that because it's technically the skill it is however only made possible by the use of the burst regardless if you want to count that or not I think every aspect of his burst is more than enough to put him in the S tier look by now it's no secret that Dia doesn't do too well in your traditional tier lists however on this tier list you bet your ass she's going straight to the top because this burst animation is one of the best goddamn ones in the entire game I mean damn just look at when she Infuse herself with a fire right here that looks awesome and this is one highlight of it the whole damn burst is a highlight this thing looks amazing from start to finish it's like the polar opposite of ayaka looks amazing to use not so much in the feels good used apartment easy as Frank it occurs to me now that my Deluxe skin may be changing his burst a little bit because I know it changes some things but if that's the case we're judging the skin because look regardless whether you have the skin or not Deluxe burst is just one of the best I mean like when you consider that he's one of the oldest characters in the game it really holds up and while I do love Duluth burst quite a lot there is a lot better out there so for now he's gonna go to the a tier I remember a lot of people are really confused with me raiding eula's burst really high and couldn't quite understand because I thought it was boring basic and thought it was really unfair to others that were similar to hers let me explain the one simple reason why I like eula's burst it's the camera movements and her movements with it it just looks really smooth and it's kind of mesmerizing to look at people thought it was some kind of Eula simp yeah far from it I kind of hate the character both playing it and her actual character in game she can go hang out in the a tier with Duluth gone uses a very simple one to describe how I feel about it because I think every aspect of this is just slightly worse than ayatos except perhaps that her startup animation might be a little bit better than ayato's but hers persistent effect far worse than his so I'm gonna cut right to the Chase and put her in the seats here who tells burst is not a particularly flashy one and it's over very quickly so you're really gonna look at the small details to appreciate it obviously the little ghost is always adorable and the actual motion of the burst is really nice along with the little butterflies that come out of it I also just kind of love at the end when it goes it's got a freeze frame there it's the ghost is the highlight of her burst that's just plain and simple that being said I am gonna put her in B because it's nothing too crazy despite my Love of All Things Zito I don't exactly let that cloud my judgment of things like his gotcha Splash or his skills and whatever and his burst is no different I never loved his burst because of the way it looked the Oni Splash is awesome looking the club is okay not really my thing as for the attacks themselves they're really smooth and they feel fantastic but they don't exactly look super flashy I gotta say I really do I love the bursts that changed the tint doesn't exactly have anything to do with the animation but something about it it just makes them feel so much more special it's also a nice indicator of when they start and end in any case ito's gonna go in the beach here look okay I know that there are those of you who would lie face first down on a bunch of cacti to create a bridge for Gene to walk across so she could get from point A to point B 10 seconds faster on a one-hour walk but that is not going to stop me from saying that James burst is one of the most boring ass burst animations in this entire game I honestly think the best part about this first animation is the dandelions that swirl around you and you have her C6 they look far better than anything in her kit they look just really well done regardless she's going into detail you know I'm barely ever on the side of tuning down visual effects whatever it happens I'm like oh really I kind of liked it cos was no uninfused his burst really isn't that bad but whenever it infuses when only you can't see fortunately for him we're not talking about visual clutter here his burst does have quite a bit going on that's why we can't see in this case the good and the bad are really fighting here because there's it's a lot of clutter and that's why we can't see stuff and it ends up looking kind of bad sometimes but I also like the least floating around the actual effects themselves are pretty nice and I think it really does look better when it's infused with literally anything b-tier feels pretty appropriate for Cosmo one quick thing I gotta say about getting versus damn it looks pretty bad from third person I don't play co-op ever so this is actually my first time seeing a lot of these as for her burst itself I mean it looks cool like causing the Clones to go everywhere all the slashes across the screen the only thing I will say is the finisher is really goddamn underwhelming not as nearly as underwhelming as it is for people watching kaching but you know it's an old burst and I think it's just you know it's it's having trouble keeping up with some of the newer effects so I'm gonna put it down in seat here I'm always gonna maintain that Cleese burst just doesn't fit her thematically not the animations themselves like the clovers and stuff and the bomb just the fact that she doesn't have a nuke despite that what she does have looks pretty nice and when you watch it over and over and over again you really just appreciate how smooth it all looks together just makes a really good looking animation you know just a solid B tier some of you guys already know what's coming with this one I like me some water effects especially when they look as good as kokomis from the start when you can see that absolutely gorgeous ocean backdrop to just the like little ribbon that she has floating behind her I think all these effects look well they look like s tier that's what they look like even without sharing my undying love for water effects I think most people could admit that even for a standard character Mona's effects look amazing she just has this excellent blend of both astrology and water effects and God damn it looks beautiful together even from the third person perspective or whatever the hell you want to call this perspective it looks great and in the list I have to make a Photoshop I put her down in the a tier but I changed my mind but I'm also too lazy to change it in the documents oh she's gonna look like she's an A but she's really an ass going into this I hadn't intended to give nahida a particularly favorable ranking mostly because the cutscene portion of her burst leaves me a little bit underwhelmed however when the field isn't full of massacre at hilly Turtle you get to appreciate just the standard effects of the burst the initial formation looks nice enough on its own I don't particularly care about the structure itself but what I really care about is what it does to the environment not to mention it's just another nice burst that changes the tint of the area around you and the green effects that happen on the ground there's nothing quite like it in the game they really did put a lot of effort into just so many different aspects of nahida's Kit I don't think the first is anything different but I also don't think it's anything extremely special certainly not s material but I will at least put in an a nilu's burst is very short but sweet the cascading outward water effect of her Elemental burst is one of the best looking quick bursts I think in the entire game it may not be as flashy as Diaz or sinos and it may not be as detailed as kokomis or Monas but I think it ends up being just as good if not possibly even better than theirs it's a little difficult to articulate just why I like this bar so much it just looks so damn smooth and you can bet your ass it's going in the S here she has a very satisfying birth to look at and I don't know what to say about it I mean you got the little Spirits everywhere or a nice little touch although it's really easy to miss them the post she does at the beginning really cool it's explosive yet it's not too quick it lingers for a little bit not enough it's it's just an all-around really nice looking burst for me she's a solid a tier I gotta ask is there even a single one of you out there who does not like ryden's burst in some way shape or form you got the screen shatter on the startup you got all the Galaxy effects and all the slashing effects and the like come on how can you not love this burst I understand if you hate riding because she's a meta unit or she's overused or you've used her burst a thousand times but this looks good obviously she's going in the S here shenna's burst is very simple for me I love the Clone effect and I pretty much am underwhelmed or hate everything else going on in this burst I don't particularly care about the symbols or the talismans floating around her and I don't really like the actual effects of the swipes as the Clones attack similarly to kazua it's the good versus the bad and in that case it leaves me feeling very middling about her so I'm gonna put that in the same tier as kazua which is the V tier tanari's burst is very reminiscent of aloys they both have a very similar motion and well instead of a big icy blast you fire a bunch of little green projectiles at home around and seek enemies out which makes it a lot better to look at the nailers in my opinion but still nothing particularly amazing so I'm gonna put him down in the sea tier The Traveler so many people lost their because I didn't rate lumine and Aether differently I responded to a lot of people in the comments letting them know that the reason I did that is because I don't think the differences are big enough the Motions that they actually cast the bursts are different but the animations themselves and the complete lack of cutscenes those are both the same so I will be showing both of them here this time that way you know if you're on the side for yourself you can look at them and see the differences but for me they're the exact same and I'll be rating them the exact same but if you really want to know my preferences for each one I think lumine's Animo is better aether's Geo is better lumine has the better Electro and the Aether has the better dendro but they're really close to a tie on that and that being said I think all of The Travelers as a whole belong in the D tier I don't think it's fair to rate them as five-star bursts because they have four star burst animations but nevertheless they are 5 Star characters which is also why you won't see Barbara here because she's a four star character even if she has a five stars burst animation I find that venti's burst loses a little something when it's not sucking in like 20 hilly Turtles to their Doom I got a feeling I probably looked on this more favorably in the past but now that I'm looking at it now I don't like it quite as much I mean it's a black hole it looks cool that it's a little black hole but we have a better one now who is actually uh coming up next so let's put bendy down in the seat here and move on hat guy's burst animation is completely carried by the opening cutscene which two be fair is like 90 Main downside of it being it's it's him that's casting it which takes away from the coolness just a little bit the character himself he does some cool things but hit damn is he goofy looking it would just looks so much better if it wasn't someone who looked like a school boy doing it so I'm gonna put it in a tier but it could have been s if it was something cooler Xiao has a lot of different things to consider you got the initial casting animation which is quick impactful it's really good looking you got the special plunging attacks with the spears coming out of the ground that looks fantastic then you have his attack animations which also look great sadly we don't actually get to use these because I honestly think this might be the best looking part of his entire burst that doesn't really matter though because even though they may look awesome every part of his burst looks great which is exactly why I'm gonna put him in the a tier we got some great ones coming up there ain't reminisce for him I'm pretty sure I made this joke the first tearless but I'm pretty sure most people give her an S just for the look she gives it about the first half a second of reverse I don't remember what I rated her I have no semblance of a clue but I'm pretty sure I probably put her pretty high the startup cutscene beautiful colors beautiful con contrast probably just all around one of the best opening cut scenes to a burst in the entire game not to mention the little foxes I show up every time one of our totems is destroyed it is just a beautiful burst animation it's the kind of one that just makes me want to use the character more obviously I asked here the startup of yulon's burst is addicting to look at between the bracelets spinning around on her wrist the dice spinning around I could just watch a proper Loop of it for minutes unfortunately that's a little bit on my realm of expertise to make that happen here but in any case her burst looks fantastic even beyond all the mesmerizing spinning the strings that come down afterwards are really nice and I also love watching them just like break apart and fall away it's another one of those little things you don't really get to appreciate in combat because too much is going on to notice a small detail like that do I even need to say that Elon is going in us she's she's asked your material I always rate her so high and everything but I just can't put it that high on this list because her burst is so basic don't get me wrong it suits her extraordinarily well and is very on theme but it's not exactly the flashiest thing in the world and that's where it falls out of favor for me just a little bit I really like flashy over-the-top things to an extent that being said I do still enjoy Simplicity too and yoemy is simple to the point and it's very clean so I at least give her a b and last but certainly not least we have Jean Lee with the great meatball from the sky one of the original burst that everyone really started to go nuts over and for good reason it's amazing looking the way that it opens up the sky giant meteor falls down crash boom explosion fantastic it still looks amazing it holds up the thing is I don't think I can put this in s anymore simply because I'm with so many others in s and to compare them to those I just don't think it holds up to the same level so to end the list Jean Lee will be going into the a-tier sure the list is a little bit top heavy but what are you gonna do in the burst animations all look pretty damn good even the ones that I put down in like D and C they're still good so if you're still here tell me what uh what did I upset you with because surely there's something on this list that you very much do not agree with or maybe I didn't talk about a certain detail that makes you love a
