for today's video i went crap hunting on amazon which is easily one of my favorite things to do because there never seems to be a shortage of random components from manufacturers you've never heard of before now recently there was a brand called goldenfield which has been showing up more and more regularly in my searches they make things like power supplies cases and cpu coolers and there's a bit of a theme amongst all of their components in that they look pretty unique i think is probably the nicest way to put it so i decided to buy a bunch of components and do a build with golden field parts just to see how it went and this is one of those videos that went sideways way faster than i was expecting but before that we have a sponsor for today's video today's video is sponsored by skillshare which is an online learning community with thousands of classes for you to get better at stuff it's a great place to discover new skills in various topics like animation design illustration lifestyle business and writing in terms of animation for example there's a course by fraser davidson called simple character animation creator walk cycle with dog fraser davidson walks you through a simple process to create characterful animations look at all the life and character and dem animations classes on skillshare also involve a class project which helps you flex on everybody around you and how much more you've learnt than them skillshare is also affordable at less than ten dollars a month with an annual subscription which means that you can brush up on all of these new skills without breaking the bank so if this sounds good to you and you're ready to go from a skillless loser to a skillful winner then use the link in my description below the first thousand people to use the link will get a free trial of skillshare premium membership [Music] now before we have a look at all of the parts i just wanted to show you so this is the box that the cooler and the power supply came delivered in and when i initially picked it up i was like wait that sounds like there's a bunch of loose stuff in here this is probably not the package that i thought it was until i cut it open and on the inside saw that what the hell like this is the cpu coolers box and it's just lying loose in here in like two pieces it seems like all of the accessories and stuff are still in there and the power supply in here um also is still wrapped and stuff so this is definitely okay but the yo amazon amazon throws you some curve balls sometimes on closer inspection it's clear that it is actually broken you can see that these plastic little knobs have sheared off and it's the same thing on this side so it's not just going to be able to clip back on it's actually been broken off so yeah good job amazon well done but it's okay i'm sure we can glue it back together just for the sake of the video and then we can can deal with it after that i think the thing that i find weirdest about it is the fact that there isn't any protective material in the box it kind of looks like they just threw the loose box in here and then like chucked the cooler down on it that's really what it looks like to me and that makes me really interested to see the condition of this case because look at all of these like pot marks in in the box around here in terms of the power supply it seems fairly respectable i mean it's 80 plus gold rated with a five-year warranty so i think it should be okay but i'm interested to see what this what this golden field power supply looks like now the rest of the components i have actually used on the channel before here is the uh team force kit of ram then we've got the terrorist ssd which has for long been the cheapest ssd you can buy on amazon and then we've got a ryzen 3 3200 g which i'm going to use alongside this wonderful b450 ds3h motherboard and then the graphics card is an msi armor rx 517 but with that let's get into the case and see if it's been a hulk smashed up the butt in the same way that the cooler has been i'm not entirely sure what that symbol means but it kind of looks like it's telling me to curb stomp this case okay this also looks suspiciously like it's been repackaged considering the tape that they're using here i don't know golden field you really need to have a look at your packing department because there's clearly something dodgy going on there okay so that's a great start there's already obvious damage just through the back of the case that is a pretty hideous yellow color as well but let's get it out of the box and have a closer look so as you can see here we have the very kawaii character on the side it does use surprisingly high quality packing phone though now considering its size it is shockingly light i mean this is the most this is the most obvious piece of fisher-price garbage i think i've ever bought in my life it looks so terrible now on the top we have this bit of rubber which it actually looks like it's meant to protect the front i o which i guess is a nice idea but why does it look like it's made out of used melted down condoms i mean just look at the state of it i don't know how easy it is for you to pick it up on camera but there's also like five different shades of yellow going on on the case here as far as airflow goes this is pretty much our lot when it comes to front airflow there's another similar similar vent on the side which looks like it just runs into the back of the motherboard tray so i don't know how much that's actually going to help and then on the back bravely it doesn't come with a rear exhaust fan so i don't think it actually yeah it doesn't come with the single fan and then there's this back bit of the case which looks like it's recently been involved in a medium-sized car accident oh there we go and then we have a nice sturdy feeling side panel but most importantly we have this very kawaii sticker for the side in fact it actually comes with three of them so two of the big ones and then one small sticker for the front which will definitely be getting on the case a bit later the interior layout actually seems half decent although there is very little gap between the rear side panel and the back of the motherboard tray so there's not going to be a lot of space to be routing cables around in this system it also hilariously has front radiator support which actually doesn't lead to any airflow remember the only airflow on this case is on the side panel here so i don't know what that radiator is going to be doing in the front oh never mind the air flows down here actually on the note of the bottom of the case there is this rgb strip which runs along the base which will look well sick in here we have an ssd mount with the ssd actually printed the wrong way around because i'm hoping they meant for the ssd to go back here but the problem is that this mount sits flush with the back panel so like you're not going to be able to fit an ssd there stop we have the power supply which is by the same company that makes that case and the cooler that came in a couple pieces in a box so they're two for three for complete garbage so let's see how this bad boy holds up now the power supply does seem half decent if these ratings are correct i mean it's an 80 plus gold rated five year warranty power supply and you've got 54 amps on the 12 volt rail which is pretty good for a 650 watt power supply it's also fully modular so i'm interested to see what this is going to look like so here are the cables that it comes with which seems they seem okay although they do have an unbelievably strong chemical smell coming off them ew the the plastic around this power supply is really sticky and gross i feel like every time i unbox one of these products i lose about a year of life expectancy to them the power supply is definitely much less oily than the the packaging around it um i mean i don't really have any way to verify the manufacturer claims for these power supplies but yeah i don't know how much i trust it considering the quality of the other components we've looked at today it does have yellow branding on it which means it will match at least one of the many shades of yellow on the case [Music] now the first thing that i'm going to do is glue the fan bit of the cooler back onto the heatsink bit of this tiny [Music] cooler [Music] [Music] do [Music] i have never experienced a mounting mechanism that feels so much like you're breaking everything involved you pretty much have to bend the clip into shape to get it to mount that is that's madness but we've got it mounted now so hopefully that's okay [Music] oh no so we've run into a reasonably big problem here and it's the fact that um the power supply doesn't fit despite the fact that this does support atx power supplies uh yeah you can see there that the connectors don't clear i did have a look to see if i could just unscrew the drive cage the problem is it's actually been riveted into place so this little evga one fits in there uh now i did try and actually research what size power supplies work in here but there's no information on the internet so yeah that's why stuff like this happens i really want to use that power supply but i'm gonna have to potentially irreparably damage the case to get that hard drive cage out to make it fit i'm not sure what i'm gonna do here [Music] [Applause] there we go now we have plenty of space look at that [Music] hey now it's time for the most important part the kawaii stickers so oh tour oh no oh no [Laughter] i'm so devastated oh yeah it is really cute i'm not gonna deny it okay hopefully the one that goes on the front doesn't also tear so this one's smaller this is just the little koalas face but the case is so dirty and ugly it looks [Music] that case was not a pleasure to build in and it's not just because of the fisher price build quality but it's because all of the features in the case are just not thought through properly for example right you have a raised motherboard tray which is good for cable management this is something people figured out in the 1870s but then they didn't leave any clearance between the motherboard tray and the rear side panel so that means despite the fact that i drilled the hard drive cage out of the basement to give plenty of cable management room i still needed an extra person to help me squeeze that side panel onto the back and that's with pretty flat cable management and then there's the ssd mounts the fact that one of the ssd mounts doesn't actually have clearance for an ssd because of the previously mentioned side panel clearance issue and then there's another ssd mount which you can only use two of the mounting holes because the other two are hidden behind a case panel so you can't properly screw the thing into place i love that they also added radiator support because you know it's 20 21 every case needs radiator support but then they put the mounts in a place that has no airflow at all so it means that it's pretty much useless anyway another really obvious thing that they missed is that the front audio connector can't actually reach the header on the motherboard which is just such a ridiculous oversight but at least it is very kawaii which brings us to the performance i am really interested to see what the thermals are going to be like in this system with that no-name brand arc reactor cooler and the fisher-price garbage case like i can't wait but before we get into that i did run into another issue after i installed windows i just couldn't get graphics card drivers installed for that rx 570. i only had about an hour to spend though but i tried various different versions of drivers i ddu wiped between installs and tried different installation methods but i i just couldn't get it working so i actually had to swap out the rx 570 for a gtx 1650 which is a shame because the gtx 1650 is a lower tdp graphics card and i was curious to see how this case was gonna handle that rx 570 but unfortunately i just didn't have time to get it working so with that embarrassing note let's have a look at the gaming performance [Music] hey [Music] now the gaming performance is pretty good i mean that 3200 g with the gtx 1650 combination performs pretty well we definitely would have gotten better gaming performance if we got that rx 570 working though so i'm pretty bummed about that um but yeah so the gaming performance at 1080p is very possible but what about the temperatures now in terms of cpu temperatures we're getting about 72 degrees celsius while playing battlefield 5 which is not great for a ryzen 3 3200g especially considering that in the same case with the stock cooler that the cpu comes with you're getting about 68 degrees celsius now in all fairness it's not quite as bad as i was expecting but the fact that you're actually getting worse temperatures than the stock cooler is pretty pretty hilarious now the company golden field does have a pretty large selection of fairly terrible looking coolers so let me know in the comment section below if you want me to buy all of them and just do like a roundup uh yeah subscribe to the channel if you want to see that when it comes to the graphics card it was sitting at about 83 degrees celsius which is actually kind of in line with what i normally get with that gpu which is not a great thing that graphics card has a real poo poo cooler on it which brings us handily to the conclusion not only is it clear that whoever designed this case never actually built a pc in it because then they would have known how much it sucked but it also just looks like a small box boil with a couple of koala stickers stuck on it and that combined with the fact that the cooler just came in a couple pieces loose in a box means yeah i probably don't recommend these components um yeah so with that thank you very much for watching if you liked the video please do like and subscribe to the channel for more videos like this one and until the next video bye [Music] um
