where do you see yourself in 10 years well in 10 years hopefully I'll have been working internally for 18 years so I'll probably be testifying against someone I've worked with Rachel you must get recognized by your fans all the time do you ever wish you could sort of fly under the radar um my favorite time of the year is when I just get to go skiing and you haven't got do your hair and makeup you haven't got to have all that awkwardness just put your helmet on put your snood on no makeup it's great and actually I've brought my skiing stuff with me actually if I just met him because I'm pretty sure I would recognize you in skiing gear so I've got um a beard and working homes and um this is kind of my look so much more comfortable and it's warm and um you just don't have to have that problem so I took one to the park last week had a good go on that people do introduce me at parties saying I'm a mathematician and I've recently was at a party with loads of Americans and just realized quite how weird my job is I think my party trick is just making people look confused and step away because you start by saying you're a mathematician and then it's on TV and then it's on a comedy show and then I do times tables to numbers listen at this point I lose the room so yeah exactly hit the button anything for me hanging you're right some things you can't help give me this which is uh my innuendo horn and if at any point people say something that's an innuendo I have to give him the horn if you want your countdown what would be your perfect job um so I'd be doing something with animals probably cats or dogs it's a place um there's a place um there's a place from South End a cat hotel that my cats have gone to called the Palace foreign how bad is it John I'll talk again later okay Russian Roulette this one the interesting thing about it do you eat the whole thing the interesting thing about it is that it gets worse it starts off all right and then it just progressively deteriorates foreign yeah that'd be fine you'll probably be fine I've been out there early but I've seen him like five or six times live and I'm just a bit nervous tonight okay um you've got a bit of a crush on Bill well there was a headline once that um I'm signal I'm signal oh my God you've got it so bad I think if Rachel was found peering into your kitchen window you would still be the one that got arrested my birthday last year my friend decided it was a treat for me so I didn't have to divide the bill but we accidentally left a 25 cent tip because it turns out no one else can do maths drunk have you ever done countdown drunk I um thank you there was one time when Nick moved the filming so we're actually filming on a Sunday and the night before one of my best friends got married and so I probably was still a little bit drunk from the night before but I could still do the numbers it was fine sure never want to back up from a challenge and it's not every day um that one gets a chance to try and chat up a math genius uh Rachel Riley now if I've learned anything about women and I haven't it's it's important to speak their language so I brought with me my old formula book from University I spent all night last night pouring over this to come up with the perfect maths-based pickup line with which to woo Rachel with a hundred percent Effectiveness Rachel if a train leaves Manchester for London at a speed of 30 meters per second at 12 20 pm and another train leaves Birmingham for Newcastle at a speed of 45 meters per second half an hour later will you go out with me Bill Bailey was on the show you revealed that you've actually got a bit of a crush on Bill do you think you'll be able to sort of keep your emotions in check this evening well I kind of lost the power of speech last time Bill's on and as soon as my producer found out he was on again he actually sent me an email and told me not to disgrace or embarrass myself again and my mum actually got me Bill tickets for my birthday so I've got an incentive not to get a restraining order before October you've got tickets to see Bill in October yeah in a theater or just in the house well I'll be there it's weird because if you saw both their pictures like on the Telly and said which one's stalking which Rachel could it be done impossible uh yeah wow uh six plus one plus one is eight 75 minus 3 is 72. I still don't know how you did it what happened to you but how did you come like this I've done this a lot how many friends have you got I'm genuinely interested if that's your theory I should be Magic [Applause] [Laughter] I just spotted that it could have been it was 24 squared and now I kind of feel a bit bad that I didn't yeah you idiot how would you have done 24 squares um you can do 75 divided by 3 is 25 minus 1 is 24. 3 plus 1 is 4 times and then you get 24 squared and that's like the the best they're capping because they don't understand zero is what zero how many friends you've got Countdown host Nick Hewer recently described Rachel as sharp as a whip he went on to say she's clever as a corset and as gifted as a mask almost as if you had something else on his mind uh Rachel if you close the lid you could probably take him to your basement
