Quest 3 - Still Worth it or Just Over Hype?

Mark Zuckerberg is injured speedy recovery dude all the meta creators have received their free Quest three and are done reviewing it while hiding this secret ugly truth about the quest 3 which I've actually have gone and purchased and spent numerous of hours in VR which I'm not getting that time back anytime soon of testing out the wonderful Quest 3 let's discuss about the good and bad now out of the box the quest 3 just like The Quest 2 is not the best it's pretty uncomfortable very painful especially after 20 minutes or 10 minutes after wearing it as my buddy on YouTube said St review he described it as the double jaw strap as well as calling it a medieval torture device because when you look at the two images you kind of see the resemblance which is why it's highly advised to pick up a third party headstrap and I would personally advise avoiding the elite headstrap because this thing cost $70 and met met is really lazy because they haven't improved it from the previous generation so all the no known cracks and issues I was having it still has them so I don't recommend paying $70 for this pay a quarter of that by picking up third party ones as there's a lot of amazing ones out there I am personally using the bbo VR but I also picked up this one works perfectly fine and it's much more affordable so support those amazing third parties actually take the time in re-engineering don't support meta for being lazy and there's no padding either The Meta rated the quest three to have a battery life that can last up to two hours well unfortunately real life you expect to have an hour of battery life under a single charge because by itself this is the type of numbers I'm averaging but thanks to the latest firware update if you actually go on your quest settings and go into Power there is a low power mode which is set to lower the VR Graphics to allow the quest three to last even longer than a single hour on average I'm able to get still in the 1 hour range based off what I do record while gaming so I would say it did help slightly but not significantly enough but there's amazing accessories out there you could also purchase like again my buob VR this thing has a battery pack which each battery pack allows this VR headset to truly last 2 hours as it's 5,000 milliamp hour battery but honestly anything over an hour and a half it's all the time I need to game in VR afterwards I just want to take a mental break and then of course you always plug in your VR headset against Power wall or an actual wall outlet and play for infinite amount of time so there's two storage choices to choose from there's the 128 GB and the 52 I unfortunately made this mistake and I purchased the 128 thinking that was going to be more than enough and after game sharing one headset with two profiles I'm left with 20 GB of storage so I had no choice but to upgrade and I went out my way and purchased a 512 and this is the one I will personally recommend just due to the fact that most popular games have an average of 8 to 10 gab of storage so to better future proof yourself half a terabyte is actually necessary unnecessary if you plan on primarily using PC VR Gaming because this does support Oculus link via cable or Wi-Fi and that will solely rely on your PC computer so you can improve its storage capacity if you need to the quest 3 unfortunately does not have this capability it will be awesome if I can put some of these games in like something small like a thumb drive meta if you're listening please allow us to do this that'll be dope so for $100 more I would recommend $100 will give you more than double the storage amount but if you absolutely have to you can't always delete the games and redownload them I was doing that for a while nothing beats just having the game right there on standby P mode and ready so the controllers on the Quest 2 are actually amazing I'm actually blown away how advanced this controller is it's honestly better than the Pro Controller from Quest even though the Pro Controller has cameras I find that the AI functionality that this thing has is more consistent and accurate especially in low light environments than it is with the pro controllers I've there been a couple of times I'm playing Beat Saver in a low light environment I'll lose signal or the tracking would just be trash this I haven't faced that regardless on the environment situation still maintains its cool features like double tapping the controllers will quickly take you to hand tracking if it's not coming up automatically as well as you have the amazing shortcuts to record and or take a screenshot I cover all these amazing features in this video over there in case you want to learn more so these honestly are better than the pro in terms of tracking and notice how there's no more Halo ring design and the vibration the heptic feedback is really good the pass through mode so let me address the elephant in the room I made a couple videos a few weeks ago and a lot of you guys comment on the pass through how it looks so clear compared to your quest 3 well this is a couple things I'm believe that's happening right now my quest 3 pass through mode looks exactly like yours there's no reports or anything like that of people receiving new hardware on like certain Quest 3 products this was an issue that happened with the quest Pro but in the quest 3 we don't have that what you're seeing is the different cameras that the quest 3 is using to record pass through because just like our smartphones this thing has multiple cameras and if you look at an object and wait a couple seconds it clears up as the quest headset selects the clear sensor but the one you see on pass through mode is probably this main one right here is ultra wide but this is the camera that it uses to record pass through but what you're not seeing is how it actually looks like through the lens they thanks to the power of the internet there's a lot of side by-side comparison and from everything I've seen and from my personal experience from owning the pro and the quest 3 pass through is very similar just with the quest Pro it caused the color to like warp out of its place if you look closely this is something I personally also have experienced multiple times but the quality in terms of like color accuracy and stuff with the external cameras it's the same generation of password technology it's just the lens on the quest Pro are so much clearer and a better resolution that it definitely looks better on the quest 3 including reading text messages like off your phone as well as reading a book so much clearer and visible on the quest 3 it's so clear that people actually been taking these to the gym you probably saw a couple of those videos or and some people actually have been cooking around the kitchen while watching a movie kind of dangerous but it works my dog's making noises but I wanted to test out how it would perform while driving and the outcome was this I do not recommend so after you're driving past 5 or 10 miles hour the quest headset cannot keep up and will lose tracking and will literally make everything look like a blur as if you're going 200 mph don't ask how I know it creates this weird tunnel vision so no you cannot drive with your quest three these pancake lens are amazing unfortunately I'm unable to actually use my glasses as the fascia structure this thing the in for some reason I can't think of the name at the moment but so narrow in here that I have a hard time fitting these type of glasses in there so I highly advise picking up prescription lens don't pick up the meta ones unfortunately because just after a month from their release many people on the internet especially on Reddit have been posting a lot of photos of them cracking along the edges now I unfortunately am currently using these so I'm being super cautious and careful on not cracking him I may consider them consider returning them but VR wave have these magnetic ones which should allow you to remove and come back Place back on without the risk of them accidentally cracking so just a quick heads up but prescription lens are indeed recommended make sure you are subscribed by the way because I do plan on comparing third party prescription lens and see who really makes the best one for its value but yeah the pancake glance on the quest 3 are really good best resolution I've seen on any VR headset the fov feel of view in case you want to know is 110° which is the standard in terms of latest generation VR headsets the psvr also uses this 110 and I really do enjoy the manual ipd slider it's not digital it's not the weird three settings like the quest 3 this thing is phenomenal so the advantage is that it has again continues to have the hand tracking capability which is nice the time of flight sensor is and the center depth sensor is good when it comes to creating a guardian real quick on the go it has support for the official Quest dock than to these little pins down here which fun fact in these pins is where the microphone is uh located so it's facing downward so a lot of people have been experiencing mixed results with their microphone I guess it depends on your voice vocal tone or something like that but my microphone I think sounds good when it comes to VR Gaming but it just sucks that we could swap we cannot swap it with like a third- party microphone or something that we could externally attached for in-game conversations and if you're wondering how my microphone sounds like sounds like this in the VR environment I forgot about this yeah no thank you yeah this is the microphone quality so we're at this part of the video where I don't have a script I'm just going to wing it cuz I didn't really think how to outro this but if I'm comparing it against the first generation quest one this is going to be a massive upgrade if you're coming from the one to the three you'll be really happy and please making this leap especially if you qu if you skip the quest too sorry for bumping the microphone everything everything is super improved and I prefer the quest 3 in my personal opinion than my quest Pro because yes even though the quest Pro is more comfortable out of the box you'll end up spending as much overall value that the quest Pro will cost you just to make it comfortable and the quest 3 has better hardware and better specs so unless you're just into VR Gaming you really don't care about the VR fascia tracking features that it has on the quest Pro for like VR shats you'll be perfectly fine with the quest 3 I really don't care what people think that what type of faces I'm making and then from the quest two to the three it's optional I think the Quest 2 is a better value VR headset especially if you're really looking forward to uh PC VR Gaming as right now secondhand you can find the The Quest 2 for just aund and something dollars which I think is a killer deal but if you're buying a VR headset for the first time I would encourage you to save a little bit more just to purchase the uh Quest 3 and then save a little bit more for the5 512 GB if you can I know everybody lifestyle is different but I I cannot recommend enough of get picking up the uh Quest three 512 the quester in general is like the new standard for VR Gaming it's clear it's easy to use resolution is amazing and really does give you a better full VR immersion as well as mix reality as it can also perform that extremely well so if you haven't yet picked up a quest 3 and you're
