Psalm 95: 1-8 / Restoring Broken Relationships

it's been such a delight to sit down with dr. Neil Anderson and to learn from you on this topic of relationships restoring broken relationships and a passage of Scripture that I think means a lot to us I'll just read now and and then get you to interpret it for us Psalm 95 o come let us sing to the Lord let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation let us come into his presence with singing let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise for great is the Lord and a great King above all gods in his hand are the depths of the earth and the heights of the mountains are his also the sea is his for he made it and his hands formed the dry land so come let us worship and about that let us kneel before the Lord our maker for he is God and we are the people of his pasture in the Sheep of his hand so today if you hear his voice do not harden your hearts that passage changed my life several years ago and I was struggling what it means to pray and and I I didn't have a clue what I meant to pray by the spirit and one night I just had this encounter with God and he just took me through Scripture in a way I'd never seen before that for Paul you couldn't separate the attitude of gratitude to be thankful in prayer he's just being stir for nothing by prayer supplication with Thanksgiving devote yourself to prayer with an attitude of Thanksgiving pray without ceasing in everything give thanks I just went on and on and that was it was like a ha I'm seeing stuff and then I went to Psalm 95 come before his presence with Thanksgiving because he's a great God and then it says today if you hear his voice I said oh dear God I'd love to hear your voice my prayer life was like that old country song hello wall I mean it was it was just a one-way kind of a prayer wasn't hearing from God and and that night I said you know God is omnipresent he's here I've got a relationship with him I'm his child I have the mind of Christ all the spirits gonna lead me into all truth how come prayer so hard I said I'm just gonna sit here and whatever comes on my mind and I spent an hour in prayer for the first time in my life we don't know how or what to pray for he helps us in a weakness he helps soon antolín bono he comes alongside bears us up and takes us across to the other side the truth is I was hearing from God it wasn't what I wanted to hear at that time all the distracting thoughts and everything else God was allowing because that's what I want to talk to you about and so I started to deal with those issues and so if you want to bring about reconciliation with your spouse with God it has to start there because if you allow God to make your prayer list the first thing on that list is going to be issues that are critical between you and God because he wants a relationship with you and if you're trying to push that off and I don't want to talk about my sex life I don't want to talk about my temptations over here and says I want to talk to you about them I love you you're forgiven you can be honest I already know it talk to me and when you start doing that you start practicing the presence of God and living it out and I kid you not folks that was the whole basis for our steps to freedom which came about years later but I suddenly realized if I could just put you in contact with God and you ask God who you need to forgive what your bitterness is or whatever else God will show you now don't harden your heart that's why it says don't harden your heart don't change the subject go back to that God loves you he wants you to have an intimate relationship with him and it begins with thankfulness with matter to to gratitude thank you Lord you forgave me you forgave me you love me how is your relationship with God in this moment you feel his presence can you remember the last time you prayed the way dr.
