here's a car from today and here's a car from 150 years ago the difference right we'll get it here's a classroom of today and here's a class we use 150 years ago then we've got a shame in literally more than a century nothing has changed yet you claim to prepare students for the future but whatever there's like that I must ask do you prepare students for the future or the past that I did it back then times were different we all have a past I'm not no gondola but today we don't need to make the robot zombies the world has progressed and now we need people who fit creatively innovatively critically independently with the ability to connect the other scientists will tell you that no two brains are the same and every parent with two or more children will confirm that claim so please explain why you treat students like cookie cutter brains or snap that hat given the myth one size fits all crap what really sorry your honor but if a doctor prescribed the exact same medicine to all of his patients the results will be tragic so many people would get sick yet when it comes to school this is exactly what happens this education because there is you one of twenty kids each one having different strengths different needs different just different dreams and you keep the same thing the same way that's horrific it's a shame I mean she just have the most important job on the planet yet they're under faith no wonder so many students with short chains let's be honest teachers should earn just as much as doctors because the doctors can do heart surgery to save the life of a key but a great teacher can reach the heart of that key and allow him to truly live some teachers are heroes that often get brain but they're not the problem they work in a system without many actions of life curriculums are created by policymakers most of which have members on a day in their life this obsessed with standardized tests I think bubbling in a multiple-choice question will determine success that's outlandish in fact these types of too crude to be used and should be abandoned but don't take my word for it take pressure J Kelley the man who invented standardized testing who stands and I hope these tents are too cruel to be used and should be abandoned ladies and gentlemen of the jury if we continue down this road the results would be lethal I don't have much faith in schools but I do have faith in people and accretion customized health care cars and Facebook pages that it is our duty to do the same for education to upgrade it change and do away with school spirit because that's useless unless we work in the brain of series kind of each and every student that should be our task no more common core instead let's reach the core of every heart in every class sure math is important but no more than our chart Dan plus gives every gift an equal chance I know this sounds like a dream but countries like Finland I'm doing some say they have shorter school days teachers make a decent wage homework is non-existent and they focus on collaboration instead of competition but here's the kicker boys and girls their educational system I'll perform every other country in the world because while students may be 20% of our populations they are 100% of our future so let's attend to their dreams and there's no telling what we can achieve this is a world and which I believe a individual I don't think that our current system is from youth teachers creativity I don't know how you do this I think if someone actually found a way to teach creativity it'd probably be very very rich by now the people who are successively creative will always probably be a very small portion of society I think that you know the person who had a computer the person who admitted the few didn't have one so I think we're always looking for ideals in terms of Education I think that we we're not going to find one would look like what would an ideal situation look like what I agree with is that we do miss out on the individual we don't take individual into account all the time I don't think someone who is an art person or music person should be killed because they didn't do well in chemistry you know any so I would like a little bit more information individualism within within the system how that would look or how we do that in a in a realistic manner I don't know you think there should be a class in high school of a lot about the world like access credit and education that we don't usually get from me Christmas so high school stuff yeah yeah I do I think that's very important because it's all well and good learning what we learned was and we have to be able to do things in real life as well I think there's a lot of value in trying a lot of these things together and that's again going back to this he talks about making can not relaxing transdisciplinary learning couldn't bring important well that definitely is something that we should learn you know with your parent but definitely you know nothing that's the thing there anything disagree with well I don't really disagree with any of it again there's a lot of general statements so like I said there are school systems that are letting students down there's no doubt about that there's school systems that employ practices that are ineffective I hope students don't view grades is it in a competitive way however I know that human nature is difficult to kind of Radek eight that from our psyche but but that's the I mean I mean I think for a long time of your life why aren't kids more motivated playing these kids you know taking advantage of being more intrinsically motivated why do they care so much about grades because their fourth year it's not like it as a choice to be here we the reality as we for some of the year so the thing is in a lot of people like you might have something you really like to do alright you really love it but once it becomes a job you're forced to do it you might not love it as much so how do we get over that school day [Music]
