It's your boy Dan, aka "aDrive". I brought you guys
a brand new video today. Today, we are reacting
to a highly requested video. Pokemon but I can only use Shinies. For those who don't know,
the Legendary SmallAnt, a speedrunner connoisseur,
has taken to trying to beat a Pokemon game
with only Shiny Pokemon which you and I probably
know as a Shiny badge quest or a Shiny only playthrough. I'll have some fun pop-ups
on the screen of all my Shiny playthroughs.
And again, I've done maybe 5 6 7 of them at this point
in time. But, when SmallAnt does it, it's a different vibe
so we got to take a look. We're going to react to it.
I actually haven't seen this video, but I've had comments
on like legit every one of my videos lately.
aDrive, react to SmallAnt using only Shiny Pokemon.
So, I'm so excited to get into this. I do remember seeing
a clip of him failing something on Twitter.

but I can only use Shinies. So, actually I'm really excited
about this, because I love Pokemon SoulSilver,
and I've done my own badge quest of this game. Although,
I never finished it. It's really epic. So, let's take a look, and see what we got going on.
- [SmallAnt] All right. We all know that beating Pokemon SoulSilver
using only Shiny Pokemon is obviously possible. - It's doable.
- [SmallAnt] It's like imagine your only here for one of three reasons.
You want to see how long it would take.
You want to see how many resets there were. Or, you just
want to see some Shiny reactions. - I'm going to go out
on a limb and say that in terms of length, probably 50, 75-100 hours
I'm going to say. Resets, I'm going to say somewhere between 50 and 80,000, 50,000, 80,000 resets/encounters. And, reactions, I want
to see some reactions. So, I'm going to cut
pretty much everything else out and give you what you want. But, I've got lots more requests

Pokemon SoulSilver. - Great game, dude. Love SoulSilver.
- [SmallAnt] using only Shiny Pokemon. Only Shinies. - Only Shinies, baby!
- [SmallAnt] I can't catch a Pokemon to use HMs. - No HMs. He's going only Shinies. - [SmallAnt] every single one.
So, 1 in 8000 chance to find a Shiny Pokemon. - That is correct. 1 in 8000.
I will say the starter sequence is better, though.
And, I'll explain that shortly. It ends up being about
a 1 in 2700 chance to get a Shiny. You have 3 chances at 1 in 8000,
so quick math. - [SmallAnt] Fun. Why did I decide this was a good idea?
I don't know. I really don't know. (laughs) And, yes. The starter has to be Shiny. There's a few reasons why
- Let's do it. - [SmallAnt] I specifically picked
Pokemon SoulSilver for this challenge.
It's because it is the fastest game to start. - Okay.
- [SmallAnt] Let's start with I prefer, Totodile.
- And, the Shinies follow you in the Overworld
which is too, too perfect to pass. - [SmallAnt] is probably my favorite
from this Generation. So, I doing this with Totodile.
- Totodile? I'm a Chikorita guy. For those who don't know,
I did this challenge myself, and I ended up doing like 1200 resets
for a Cyndaquil and I failed it. It's probably one
of my most popular Shiny fails. And, then it took
me 150 hours to reclaim for Chikorita. - [SmallAnt] actually do this. So, I'm gonna save right here.
So, here's the starters we can pick from. - And, you can see if it's Shiny
on the screen, by the way. - [SmallAnt] Totodile.
And, we could see Cyndaquil. The great thing about this Generation is you know right here. - Oh, he says that.
- [SmallAnt] Before we even get the Pokemon, you get to see
if it's Shiny. So, none of these are Shiny,
so let's try it again. We're gonna do this legitimate.
What are the odds? 1 in 8192 I think?
- There you go. - [SmallAnt] All right. Second try. Nope. Let's do it again. Tell a story. Tell a story. Okay, I'll try to think of a story.
- If he gets it on 25, - [SmallAnt] Ghost story.
- Nah. - [SmallAnt] I believe it was
Christmas day. I was sitting in my room.
I had just gotten my Nintendo DS for the first time. - Four hours. That's not,
he's so luck, though. - [SmallAnt] I remember
we end up talking. - Totodile! That's what he wanted! We got it! That's a Shiny Totodile!
- That's epic. That's epic. - [SmallAnt] Whoo!
That's the I wanted too! - That's so good!
That's the way to start it. That's not bad either!
- [SmallAnt] resets, baby! - Four hours is so lucky. - [SmallAnt] It didn't take that long. I-
- Like, I said. That was about how fast my Cyndaquil was.
About 1300 resets. I don't know he did 1300 resets
in four hours. He might be on speed up,
I don't know. But, either way, it took me 150 hours for my Chikorita. - [SmallAnt] Told you I'm feeling lucky. Let's go! Give a nickname.
Yes. What are we gonna nickname this beautiful Shiny Totodile?
- Erwin. - [SmallAnt] All right.
You guys aren't gonna let it forget. We're gonna name it
9 Inches. All right. We got Totodile.
We're on our way. And, you could see their Shiny
in the Overworld which is incredible in my opinion. Beautiful!
- [SmallAnt] It's so Shiny. - That Shiny sparkles
in this game is so good too. - [SmallAnt] Please don't put
the explanation for the name 9 Inches in the YouTube video.
Everyone will be so confused. Maybe. Okay. So, that's Gym 1. What? - So, he's not doing
what we call a Shiny badge quest where you get a Shiny
before each Gym. Maybe he is. But generally, most people
do two Shinies before the first Gym.
But, he, he's just gonna move on. So, that's fine. - [SmallAnt] Look at that sick mohawk! - On side note, also I just realized "Pokemon but I can only use Shinies".
He could just beat the game with Feraligtr,
and just get one other thing for Cut, but like whatever. - [SmallAnt] 10 Inches? All right. Not bad.
Let's go fight the second Gym now. Well, I guess-
- Oh, he's just flying! - [SmallAnt] Leader Whitney! - He really is soloing with Croconaw
right now. - [SmallAnt] I need a Special Attacker. I have two Physical Attacker. Okay. Well, we'll go get
a Shiny Eevee or something. It'll be cute. And, then you guys
will be able to vote on what we evolve it into. Where do you even get an Eevee?
Is it soon? Oh, you can get it in Goldenrod?
- Yeah. It's Ecruteak I think. Or, you go back for Bill. Yeah.
- [SmallAnt] Remember, 1368 is a starting point.
We're doing total resets on this recent encounter
not resets for each Pokemon. All right. Oh my lor-
It takes so long to choose. - Oh, is he doing resets for every single Pokemon?
- [SmallAnt] Oh, it's not a Shiny on the first attempt. Here we go. So, we're taking a break.
We're gonna get the 4th badge, and then we'll try Eevee again. We got the Fog Badge. - 2600, he's getting so lucky. - [SmallAnt] Titans. Foot cream
is in chat right now. - He's getting really lucky. The speed up helps too.
- [SmallAnt] We got it! But, that's still epic.
- [SmallAnt] Foot cream showed and we got the Shiny Eevee. Let's go! I told you I'm lucky!

because foot cream appeared right when we got

- [SmallAnt] But, I will let you guys choose on what we're gonna
evolve this into. Let me start a poll.

- [SmallAnt] What? Eevee's still an Eevee? - So, he really is just flying
through this for just the three Shinies so far. - [SmallAnt] You better Trainer than me? Yeah. I'm better in every way.
Also, how did we get this team by chance? Yeah. We got, we got ME, we got my 10 Inches,
and my little man Cream. (chuckles) How did we come, how do we get here? It's just by chance that people
always keep saying these things. All right. Gonna get the gurt, Dratini
and Tyrogue. - Ooh. - [SmallAnt] What's a gurt?
I'm gonna get the gurt. Gonna reset for an Electrode?
No, it'll just Self-Destruct and we'll lose it. - I like the Electrode idea. - [SmallAnt] It doesn't know
Self-Destruct? I'll let you guys vote.
Do we want a blue Electrode? - Blue Electrode is really clean.
- [SmallAnt] 64 says we're gonna use it? Yep. All right. We'll do that then. Name it Gurt.
Are we gonna name this one Gurt? (laughs) All right. We'll name
this Electrode Gurt. Cream is evolving! - Yes! Beautiful! - [SmallAnt] He's so handsome. - What a great Shiny. - [SmallAnt] Look at him. - I love Umbreon. - [SmallAnt] We are now going
to get an Electrode. A Shiny Electrode. All right. And, we're doing this.
- Oh, boy. - [SmallAnt] That is it for now. Shiny only again. What's up? Will we get it next time?
I'm gonna call it a day here. I've been in like 5 1/2 hours doing this. Didn't get it yet. Next week we will.

to get Electrode for the last 20 hours. I'm here for it, boom. Well, that's it for the encounters today. - Oh, this one's over the course
of like multiple- No, the fail! - [SmallAnt] Crows notoriusly

that my chat told me about. I was streaming
and someone was like, "Yo. SmallAnt failed the Electrode. I'm like, what? - [SmallAnt] I said if I ever skipped
a Shiny, I'm gifting a 100 subs. - I love it! Oh, I love it!
- [SmallAnt] Let's do some pencil sharpening and then call it a day. Come on. 2:21. That is a new world record. You know what we're doing?
We're getting Gurt. So, what I'm promising you today
is that the stream will not stop today
until we get a Shiny Electrode. It's a 1 in 8192 chance.
- What?! - [SmallAnt] If it takes all night,
it takes all night. I could do two 24-hour streams. You've been doing Electrode for a week. No. I've been doing it for two months now. How many resets today? I think we're at 1000 or 15159
at the start of the stream. 1000, 15000. Oh my god! (screams) - What a great Shiny too.
- [SmallAnt] We got it! - He really nailed like
the one that he has. The blue Umbreon
and the blue Electrode are just so incredible. - [SmallAnt] Let's go! Okay.
We just need to catch him now. We just need to catch him. He has Rollout.
If he sweeps my team with Rollout before I capture him, I am going to cry. - You're good. (screeches) He doesn't have Self-Destruct yet. No. 1. Please!
- I think Umbreon could come in and weaken it. - [SmallAnt] Come on!
- I like how the sparkles flash every time it comes out
of the ball too. Uh oh. - [SmallAnt] Weaken its Attack. If a critical hit hit him.
- Oh, that did a lot actually. Hold on. Now, all of a sudden
it's an issue. Because, if he- Yeah.
- [SmallAnt] 1 2 3 - Yeah! There you go! Good stuff. Good stuff.
- [SmallAnt] We caught Gurt! All caps G-U-R-T, GURT! - I don't get his nickname,
but that's okay. - [SmallAnt] I get to sleep
till the night! I said if we get it
within the first few hours, we're gonna get eight badges,
so we're gonna get the 8th badge today then. - Okay.

for Shiny Pokemon. Ooh! Best Dragon-type master
you're gonna hold your own against the Elite Four.

freaking blind you, dude. And, we defeated Clair!
- There it is! - [SmallAnt] I won't concede to this.
All right. Sore loser. Dratini I think will be our next Shiny hunt.
- Ooh. Dratini's a good one. Nice pink, nice pink little snake.
- [SmallAnt] Got a Dratini. nice. Not a Shiny. And it begins. - Five minutes later?! - [SmallAnt] Back to the grind. Yep.
- Dude, he's had the craziest luck.
- [SmallAnt] I'm very happy I didn't have to get it
an all-nighter as well. (gasps) Oh my god!
- He's just had insane luck. - [SmallAnt] How many resets was that? (laughs) - Wow! - [SmallAnt] What was that?! God, that was fast. I was expecting to be

- [SmallAnt] Oh my god. I guess we're gonna try
to get Lugia today? - Like the amount of resets
he has for Eevee, starter, Dratini, and Voltorb,
and two Voltorbs as he failed, is the amount
I spent on my Chikorita. That's insane. And, I didn't use speed up, so- Speed up's fine. I don't know
blame him. I would use speed up if I did it again,

- [SmallAnt] Okay. So, we have to level up. (laughs) - The levels in this game
are really bad, by the way. That's the downside to HeartGold,
and SoulSilver. - [SmallAnt] We gotta use Pokemon
like a real Trainer. We beat Lance.
- Yeah. Easy peasy.
- [SmallAnt] Let's go. - Is he doing second part?

looks pretty dang impressive. But, that's not over.
Because, we need to get another Shiny. And, we need to defeat - Okay.

- How? - [SmallAnt] Oh, that's so nice. I don't have to sit here for a month.

know an HM, it can't be released. You guys ready? For our final final Shiny. What? Clover's evolving. - Hey, he's gonna get Dragonite which looks so good in Sprite form. - [SmallAnt] Clover! - Kind of almost reminds me of Crobat either way.
- [SmallAnt] Now, the name makes sense.
- Like reverse Crobat or Golbat. He's all the way to the top
of Mt. Silver, right? I don't know about this. Isn't Red like level 70 or something, 80?
- [SmallAnt] I'm so under leveled. Let's do it! - Yeah, 88! How are you beating that 88?
- [SmallAnt] Let's go! Oh my god. Pokemon SoulSilver.
- How did he beat it, though? At level out?! That's like level 80!
- [SmallAnt] with only Shiny Pokemon. 16884- - Dude, he got so lucky.
How do you get 16000 resets in for like the whole team, dude?
- [SmallAnt] resets. - He got so lucky. - [SmallAnt] That was insane! I don't have anything else for you today either than to say I hope
