A MONSTER Lurks In These Waters

i'm out here fishing bass i got 14 pound line no leader see if we can get this fish in oh my gosh it's one of my favorite parts about kayak fishing you don't need a boat launch to access the water so we're just heading out from the bridge here today a little bit of a jump to reach my kayak from the shore there but hey it worked what a beautiful day out here it was a pike right there i think the two main lures i'm gonna go with today i've got a whopper plopper 75 tied on my casting rod oh big old catfish man we're seeing all kinds of fish up here and then i've got a nico craw tied on my spinning rod oh there's a big smallie down there looking at that craw and i got him i gotta get him off that stick he is wrapped around that log down there oh my gosh oh full contact fishing here today i'll tell you what oh my gosh this fish just does not want to come up here come on i cannot believe i got that fish in i'm gonna have to check my line after i take care of this guy because he got me all wrapped up in a log down there wow look at that smallie paddle myself forward here before i drift into some trees behind oh that was sick dropped that craw down there right next to that stump saw this guy eyeing it gave it a couple little twitches man he smashed it awesome fight awesome fish i've missed smalley fishing been chasing pike and largemouth the last couple of weeks kind of forgot what i've been missing all right we've got some shade over here it looks like the water's a little bit deeper good spot for big old smallie to be hanging out oh yeah i call that one or what oh yeah that's a big fish too get in my net thank you she's angry hey buddy gotta quit thrashing around like that let me get that hook out here real quick nice smallie yeah he smashed that plopper did i call that one or what you know right up there in the shade gets a little bit deeper good spot for one of those to be sitting oh yeah that was pretty sweet oh you get out of those sticks trying to fight this fish and keep myself out of the sticks man what a mess all right right back toward me here there we go i'm gonna try to drop my anchor here oh no that fish just got around my anchor that is not good at all well i still got them on and my line didn't break my anchor there that's kind of sketchy get them in the net then i'm going to drop my anchor there we go cause i thought for sure that fish was gonna break me off when he got it on my power pole anchor because that fiberglass steak is pretty rough i broke off several lures when i hit that thing on my backswing so that's pretty cool we got that one in there's another nice one on the nikko craw still kind of bummed i lost my only whopper plopper to a decent smallie around the bend back there i did tie on a spook on my casting rod i've had a couple fish come look at it but they would not commit to that spook at least none of them i put it in front of yet i thought for sure i had a couple extra ploppers but i must not have put them in my box yet usually i'll have jerk baits instead of top water in the springtime but it's time to switch those out for top water i think holy that was not a bass at all that is a musky oh he shook my craw oh man [Laughter] i'm gonna retie that i was not expecting that at all i wish i could have got that fish in but that was still pretty cool oh man you can see adrenaline going too shaky to retie here get in there this spot back here looks like it's got potential i like nice molly i'm gonna try to keep both him and myself out of this tree oh there's another one chasing him too up here not gonna bother with the net with that one i just got to get my anchor dropped before i drift into that wow look at that beautiful color on that smallie almost a chocolate brown color yeah that is a beauty just dropped that craw down there next to that tree watched him come out and eat it man that was awesome oh it's a giant i thought i just saw a big muskie oh my gosh you guys did you see that big huge muskie just came up and ate that little bass that i got hooked i doubt i will be able to get this fish in i'm fishing with 12-pound mono no leader and i don't really have a net quite big enough to handle a muskie uh you still haven't hooked here he probably just doesn't want to let go of that little bass oh i want to get myself up shallow and i'm probably going to hop out on shore here because i got no way to land this fish other than with my bare hands oh my gosh you guys oh he let go you're like oh i still got the bath though that bass is like thank you so much i cannot believe that just happened man that was probably a 40-inch plus muskie just came up oh my gosh i'm shaking just came up ate that little bass that i had hooked i had that muskie on my line for a good minute there yeah no way i was going to get him in man that was crazy i wish i would have brought my muskie gear today i hooked that one earlier just had that happen man if i was throwing some big musky livers out here today i'd probably catch a couple oh i see a smallie up there oh we got a bigger one chasing them all right the little one shook it i think i got the bigger one here it's always nice when you can trade off for a bigger one like that i'm just gonna get that fish over here because i think i'm gonna start floating back downstream anyway up here nice probably gonna hit bottom here any minute but wow look at that smallie absolutely beautiful fish it's pretty cool how that worked out i had one maybe an inch or two smaller grab that craw saw this bigger one chasing them out so i kind of slack lined them there a smaller one shook it bigger one came right over to it yeah that was pretty cool so oh my gosh muskie on the spook i'm out here fishing bass i got 14 pound line no leader see if we can get this fish in oh my gosh i think my only chance of landing this fish is going to be to get up shallow or i can hop out of my kayak i do have a net not nearly big enough for this fish but i might just have to try to scoop them up because i am really nervous about grabbing them with treble hooks i might just have to try to scoop them up into my kayak here i mean it's not a giant i might be able to get them in my net just nervous about my line being wrapped around his teeth i'm gonna try to grab my net here yeah this is the only net that i have i think i'm gonna try to scoop them up into my kayak maybe i do not want them getting into the sticks that would be bad news i am freaked out you guys i mean the water's not super warm right now it's probably high 60s so i'm not maybe low 70s so i'm not super concerned about wearing this fish out but i do not want him to bite me off get to do it like that but hey it works oh my gosh get this fish unhooked got a net full of gravel here yeah he's not happy there's one all right i got rid of those treble hooks that's what makes me nervous get one of those attached to me with the fish still attached i cannot believe that just happened awesome muskie i gave her a quick measure 38 inches on the spook 14 pound line no leader i cannot believe i got that fish in all right let's set her free i'm gonna hold her just a minute or two make sure she's all ready to swim off just want to make sure that fish swims off all right looks like she did just fine what an adrenaline rush i cannot believe that just happened i can't believe i got that fish in i mean i'm fishing 14 pound mono on this rod with no leader i'm sure i'll get some complaints from the muskie guys on how i fought that fish for too long or how i landed it with my bassinet and just kind of scooped it into my kayak but really i mean that was my only option i couldn't horse that fish in with my light line i'm surprised it didn't bite me off if i would have pulled a little bit harder it probably would have i would have left that musky with my spook t-bone across its mouth so that wouldn't be good either all things considered it went pretty well the fish swam off just fine wow crazy crazy crazy i'm just going to hang out here for a minute let the adrenaline rush kind of settle down then i'm going to hop back in my kayak i was already making my way back downstream to my truck anyway so i'm gonna keep on paddling back that was a pretty awesome fish to end the day on though hope you guys enjoyed it i know i did i'll see you next time
