hey guys and welcome to another spooky night here in October every Thursday night in October I have decided to do either a conspiracy video or mystery or ghost story or something spooky and today we're going to be talking about ghosts over the weekend I got to go up to Estes Park Colorado and I did a tour of the Stanley Hotel and the Stanley Hotel is known like all over the world for being haunted and I'm gonna tell you guys a little bit about the hotel and some creepy things that I saw and some creepy things that other people have seen the reason that this hotel actually really became famous was because of the shining I'm sure many of you have seen the movie The Shining it's pretty crazy I actually just watched it like two weeks ago because I knew I was gonna be going up here and I didn't understand it at all but it is a famous scary movie and it's based off of a novel written by Stephen King and he was inspired to write the book after staying in a Stanley Hotel so that's how it first became famous so it all starts in 1903 when Freeland Oh Stanley and his wife Laura decided to come to Colorado because he had come down with tuberculosis and back then there wasn't a cure for a lot of people here in Colorado died from tuberculosis so since there was no like cure for it he decided to move to the mountains which he was also a very wealthy man um he had invented quite a few other things and he was told that he probably wouldn't survive and so going to the mountains was supposed to be kind of like hospice for him like he wasn't going to live much longer but he had a better chance of kind of you know clearing out his body of toxins or whatever in the mountains and if you've never been in the mountains the mountain air is very different it's very clean very fresh especially back then when there wasn't much up in Estes Park so the mountain air actually did the trick because he actually was cured of his de Burkle osis and went on living his life just like but they decided they actually loved Estes Park and so they decided to build this huge hotel huge hotel it was very very new for the time very modern for like very wealthy people to come to and it's called now the Stanley Hotel this is a picture of it back when it first was built and this is a picture of it today the hotel opened in 1909 and I had all the latest technology that the time include you know electrical lights running water telephones and cars and it was a huge deal they even built their own hydro plant so that they could have electricity at the hotel since things like way out in the mountains now obviously they're both dead by now but there have been many sightings of the two of them still in the hotel to this day a lot of people have seen mr. Stanley at the bar apparently that's where people often see him people have said that they've had like conversations with him not realizing that he's a ghost there are many reports of miss Stanley playing the piano in the concert hall and those aren't the only ghost sightings that they have had at the Stanley Hotel since then there's a ton of like guest rooms that you can actually stay in that are said to be haunted and it's really really crazy my favorite story and my favorite ghost of all time there is miss Wilson and it's really really interesting the hotel is famous for room 217 I actually have video footage because I got to go there and I have to say when I was standing in front of the door of this room I felt so like cold and it was just so creepy I kept having just like goosebumps I call them chilly bumps but I kept getting like just feeling really like on edge and like empty and cold it was so [ __ ] weird so the reason that this room was said to be haunted is because in 1911 there was a thunderstorm that knocked out the power for the hotel and there was a maid working at the hotel at the time and her name was Elizabeth Wilson and she entered room 217 with a candle in order to light the gas lamps since there is no power obviously but unfortunately for her when she opened the door with the candle and went inside there was a huge explosion because the room had filled with leaking gas and she had no idea obviously or else he wouldn't bring up candle into that room at the time gasoline actually did not have a scent if you didn't know there's actually a scent put into the gasoline like if you turn your oven and smell like this weird scent the reason that they do that is so that you know that there's gas in the room but that's not actually what it smells like a lot of people don't know that back then it didn't have any scent it was completely odorless the hotel was about 70,000 square feet and it is took out about 10% of it like the entire West Wing of the hotel just like gone the explosion was huge it was actually a compression explosion which I don't know much about chemistry to be honest but this means that it put itself out like there wasn't a fire that continued and if it didn't put itself out then it would have like literally destroyed the hotel the whole thing would have gone down in flames anyway according to my tour guide when the explosion happened the floor like completely came out obviously and miss Wilson who was standing there with that candle went right through the floor this is the 10% hotel that disappeared on that faded night the archway there that was where miss Wilson was then when she opened the door and she was wearing a super tight corset when she hit the ground she broke her ankles her legs they went all the way up she broke part of her rib she broke a ton of bones she's [ __ ] up but she actually survived and according to my tour guide they think her corset may have actually saved her there was really tight corsets that they used to wear back then anyway fo Stan Lee took full responsibility for it because it was his hotel even though it wasn't his fault with power went out and there's the gas leak and everything he treated miss Wilson so well he paid for all of her medical bills and he gave her a job a job for the rest of her life at the Stanley anyway she ended up being fine and came back to work and was so grateful for mr. Stanley being so nice to her that she loved her job she took it very seriously and was very well known ER in the hotel and she worked there until like the 1950s so like about another 40 years so she was very old when she finally did die but now she is said to be haunting room 217 and that is the room that Stephen King stayed in when he wrote the book The Shining she's known for like opening and shutting doors I'm just doing things in that room if you stay there and you're not married apparently she wants to save your reputation as a woman because back then sleeping with a man before you were married was like you know a big no and she wanted to save your reputation so if you ever did stay in that room couples are always reporting that there's someone in between the bed that like they can feel presents like they can't get to each other and someone's like between them and keeps them separate at night which is so weird and Josh and I really want to stay there but we're married so I don't know if anything would happen for us when I was on the tour this couple came down the stairs on they were just going out for their day and they looked really really scared and since we were on the tour it stopped and told us that they had stayed in 217 and our tour guide was so excited was like oh what happened did you see miss Wilson that you know she was all excited to ask and I only got some of it on camera but they basically told us that they had felt miss Wilson between them that night and then they didn't sleep very good it was pretty crazy time the people that have stayed in the room have reported that they'll like put all their stuff in their room and they'll go out and do something the horseback ride or you know just walk around the hotel when they get back their stuffs unpacked and they'll call the front desk and say thanks for the old-fashioned like unpacking of our stuff cuz some motels used to do that and they're always like we don't do unpacking that's miss Wilson so Miss Wilson is known for tidying up the room unpacking people's things putting their jewelry away things like that so she's not a bad spirit at all so the movie Dumb and Dumber I'm sure many of you guys have seen that movie was actually filmed at the Stanley Hotel it's very cool put in a clip right now normally reserved for royalty visiting dignitaries mrs. Charles and I when they were together used to frequent the hotel constant [Music] so obviously one of the main characters in dumb and dumber is the famous Jim Carrey who I love so much and I thought on my tour this weekend that when he was filming at the Stanley he requested to stay in room 217 because Stephen King had got inspired to write the shining and he wanted the experience apparently he had a serious paranormal experience he still to this day will not tell anyone what happened but the hotel staff said he came flying down from his room completely in a panic like in his pajamas requesting like demanding that he gets moved to another room apparently he ran outside the hotel was just freaking out and no one knows what happened to him but I'm guessing it was either something with Stephen King or miss Wilson but I don't know I I get pretty scared too and Josh and I like I said I think we're gonna try to stay in that room someday but I'm pretty nervous so there are several other stories about the hotel that I want to tell you guys as well so the previous owner of the land that the Stanley was built on before it was built into the Stanley was the 4th Earl of Dunn Raven and he is said to be haunting room 407 Aaron Lee people have seen him standing in the room and they can still smell his pipe tobacco apparently they've seen him just standing in the corner there's also room 418 which is apparently haunted by children that whole hallway actually people hear people running children running and playing in the hallway if you're like really quiet sometimes you can hear laughter so weird and then there is the famous story of Lucy another ghost that is apparently haunting the Stanley Hotel and I believe I may have had an encounter with either Lucy or miss Wilson when I was on this tour it was pretty remarkable I didn't know if I was gonna see anything happen but we definitely saw something very strange and I got it on video which I was so thankful that I did so according to the hotel the story goes that there was a girl named Lucy who was a 13 year old runaway like ran away from her family and was living in the basement of the hotel now I got to go in the basement and it was very creepy it looks like a cave I honestly am pretty shocked that it's still like that it's super weird the whole time I was down there had that same creepy feeling just very odd anyway this runaway girl was apparently living in the basement of the hotel those caves and a maintenance man actually found her so she was forced to leave even though she was only 13 years old and apparently the temperature outside was below zero and she froze to death and people actually found her frozen to death outside apparently Lucy still haunts the hotel she's a famous ghost at the Stanley and apparently she opens and closes doors often now I think I experienced this myself so go ahead and tell me what you guys think about this just opened on its own does she even know her doors open Oh introverts and extroverts responses family over there on one floor so someone else was on this tour with her co-worker her name was Stephanie I think it's Riedel or Riedl and she was taking pictures because when you go on the tour they tell you to take a ton of pictures take as many as you can and to see if you can get them like in groups of three like do them like as fast as you can like shutter shots better dues black and white apparently night vision works better and that the night is like more common for scene ghosts so they were doing that they were taking pictures and their tour guide was leading them to the basement of the concert hall and she happened to get this picture now I don't know about you guys but [ __ ] that is scary and apparently when it happened she didn't see it when she looked back her camera she saw Lucy in her pink dress and oh my god I just got chills even talking about it it's so creepy tell me what you guys think about this Stan Lee would you ever stay there do you believe in ghosts what do you think was going on with the door that I saw and do you think that that picture is Lucy or is it something else that's like you know messing with our minds I think a lot of people out there believe that there's a rational reason for every ghost sighting and maybe there is maybe there's not but I want to know what you guys think so leave me a comment and let me know if there's any other ghost videos that you guys want to see and if I should continue doing these types of videos I know you guys really like this creepy stuff and I love it so I'm totally down that's it for me today guys I hope you're having a great day and I will see you next time [Music]
