OVER-ENGINEERING Highway Layouts in Mini Motorways!

hello fellow engineers and welcome back to mini motorways my name is motorway matt and today we're gonna put that name to use because check out the weekly challenge we start with three most ways there's double the number of motorways awarded and the cherry on the top unlimited bridges so this level should be a civil engineer's dream we're going to have motorways we're going to have bridges it's going to be beautiful right so if you haven't seen this game before which i don't know where you've been if you've ever heard of my channel before but anyway the game spawns these these are supermarkets not just multi-colored slices of bread and it also spawns these these are houses each house has two cars in them every so often a little raisin will appear on the slice of bread and a car will leave the house and we'll come and collect it ready plop it's just gone in and now he'll drive back and we've gained a point we've now got five points now your job is to build roads to connect them all so look at this we have yellow now so i'm going to come down here and go around this one and go up to it like that so as you can see there's different colored houses and they only want to go to the same color of their shop so the yellow houses they want to go to the yellow shops the blue houses they want to go to blue shops and so on and so forth as the game progresses things get a lot more complicated and you gotta manage your traffic at the end of a week you get an upgrade and you get to decide which one you want so if i pick this one i guess around about and 20 tiles if i pick this one i get two traffic lights and 20 row tiles i'm gonna go with the roundabout because i feel the most useful early on in the game you can see the roundabout is now at the bottom alongside this one which is our three motorways that we start with and on the edge this is our unlimited bridges we can just build whenever we go over the river we get a bridge so we can literally just go mental and spam bridges oh yeah so in the non-weekly challenge game this would have used up two bridges and that might be the end of our bridges so we'd possibly have to merge things on if we wanted to make another cross until we got another bridge upgrade oh fun look at that so when a square supermarket upgrades into a circle building this is what we know as an imac cinema now you may have heard of the imac cinema it's got one of the biggest screens in the world and therefore it attracts more people so you need to connect more houses to your building it's not all fun and games so there is a way to lose this game as these start to stack up they will slowly fill the imax or supermarket and when that happens a timer will appear if you don't make some more journeys before that timer fills up it's game over we got a nice little pink over there and unfortunately we cannot actually go around this road so we're gonna have to join on just temporarily you can see if i right click the hatched area i cannot go in there yet but as the game carries on the map slowly zooms out and and we will be able to go down there but for now we're mixing traffic along this stretch of road right it's the end of another week i'm gonna go traffic lights this time just so i have one of everything right now you can see the map has expanded downwards so we can put our separate road in for the pinks all right so over here we've got another blue so i'll bring those houses round like that i think thankfully we have enough houses there to satisfy an imac cinema i'm gonna actually bring that up just so it's a bit quicker yeah and this extra yellow one i will connect you and i might even bring you lot all over that way just try and save some road tiles because we've only got a 34 well 35 remaining oh and we have another yellow and that's in kind of a good place actually because it allows us to connect you into there and just take one of these houses straight up oh my god it's an imac straight away how did this happen so we need to connect more houses in i'm gonna try and connect four for now and we'll connect these new yellow houses that have spawned down here straight up in a bridge like that because we've got unlimited bridges so we may as well use them to our advantage right it's the end of week three and our upgrade is between a roundabout and motorways usually you only get one motorway because this is a weekly challenge now they've given us two and i think we get two every single time we get a motorway so if we click that we've now got five motorways oh it's the return of the moldy ham excellent i love ham right so for this one we're gonna go with a motorway and i'll show you what it's all about so most way you drag it from down here and you place that look we've made the shape we've made the shape with handles and then you just drag this and you drag it to wherever you want so i'm going to put it there and now if you follow this car you'll see it actually goes up and over so it's not just a motorway it's like a viaduct a big bridge that goes over absolutely everything so no more junctions no more bridges required etc just a straight journey beautiful and if you haven't seen this game before the reason why i am called motorway mapped it's not just because i love motorways it's because i have the power to make most ways do this boring all right so now the green down here thankfully we've got the greenhouse very close all right week four traffic lights or roundabouts i'm gonna go round about again because we've got two traffic lights but only one roundabout all right i feel like this is going to be a pretty high scoring round just because we have so many motorways and we've got unlimited bridges and everything sort of spawned quite ideally so far apart from the moldy ham and the fresh ham i guess right this fresh ham is now an imax cinema now we got another pink house there so that's a easy just bring that straight down and another one went in that gap perfectly timed so that's looking very neat along there they've got like a waterside river view and they've got their own private road straight to an imac cinema they are living the dream they don't even need a tv in their house oh but this is where the game turns into a bit of a bell end um we've got purple down there really not in a good spot we're going to do a bit of that so now we've got space here to add our motorway and i'll make sure i go from there i'm going to do a straight down so motorway will do that we've got a nice criss cross between moot ways one and two now and the reason why i didn't connect like this house on that's hiding under mu32 i can't get out the way uh straight to the bridge is because you can't you can't have a junction across a bridge hence the weird layout there right there's a load of pink spawning they'll just go straight up and it's week five traffic lights or roundabout i'll go traffic lights i guess and looking up here a little bit of a problem and that we've got a pink there but we know that's going to be a different color and they're all going to get intermingled if it's a yellow it'll be absolutely fine but if it's any other color it could get a little bit tricky so i might place a roundabout that's sort of the only near spot where i can put one that's in there for safety in the future will be it'll be an arm like that maybe an arm like that oh and look at this look at this that's actually fantastic so there's four houses connected to the imax and these three will go on a motorway up to there we do actually have a load of yellows down here which we might need to bring up to this area because we've only got five houses and that's supplying an imax and a supermarket in yellow i don't know if that'll be enough i randomly also got a yellow over here so i'm guessing we're gonna get a yellow shop spawn at some point soon oh no i've been tricked by the ham people again so we've got more ham and lots of ham so i might do i might just do cheeky little road into that motorway it's the end of week six and for our upgrade we are definitely gonna go with the motorways i want all the motorways my name is motorway matt i'm gonna make it stick damn it let's say this could actually be a point where i start using small motorways we've got two houses there doing nothing two hours is there doing nothing and people are expanding at rapid rate tell you what it might be worth splitting up the hand people taking these four up to there and then delete that road so there's two hand people now motorway one people and motorway four people and then we can do a motorway from there and connect you to and i've got a green over there so thankfully with these two guys we can just do a cheeky little bridge but it's looking fine it's all looking good all right there's a lot of yellows spawning there a bit concerning but for now we'll just leave it now this pink house you're a bit on your own i'm gonna take you up just connect you in uh week seven we've got more motorways oh yes oh look we've got another piece of ham hello there on a island as well balls bloody ham what is going on right i need to i really need to do something about the middle i might actually rather than connecting those i might sort of bring them this direction say most way motorway six up to there holy crap more yellow houses we've got a purple in that connect you down do a little arm and we're going to say from there purple on moto e7 over to look at this mess i love it i love it but it's the end of another week do we go with a roundabout or traffic light i might just go with a roundabout i guess i don't really think i want either to be honest there's another pink down there i guess we could connect you up oh here we go so this is why purples have been spawning because they've been planning to open a supermarket all right i think we'll come down this way and straighten like that lovely jobless oh no there's a yellow down here whoa okay let's slow it down slow it down a second but we can s bend and then we can actually sneak under here and now we've done that we're all connected up i'm looking at the top left and that seems to be struggling i don't think we have enough houses connected to that so i might delete motorway 5 since i have so many and take a load of yellows from here we'll connect that from there oh there so that's got five houses rather than two now and just look at the absolute mess in the middle it's carnage but it's beautiful oh it's the end of another week week nine i'm gonna grab two more motorways seems like we're definitely going past nine motorways that is good we've got a fresh ham pink over here and sort of trying to work out the best way of doing this i think it might be worth sort of reducing motorway length so motorway three rather than going all the way that way i might delete you and then we'll actually come off this way and go to there because i really really want this junction to be a nice mess of spaghetti that's all i care about at the moment yeah meanwhile i think these we can connect them all up and we can even sort of bring you that way but leave the road there just in case we got three houses going to that one on the right we've got five going to the imax and if i disconnect you lot you can come up and around here up to there then we can replace either of those roads with a motorway if it's getting a bit dodgy sound good i think it sounds good for now things seem to be holding me so i'm not gonna rush to change anything yet that's now a ham imax there's so much ham down the bottom it is ridiculous that's the end of another week right we're grabbing more motorways we are all about the motorway today we've got six motorways in our pocket absolutely mental now there's a bit of a problem with ham up here three i don't think three well four now four journeys maybe we could put another oh look there's some more ham under here there's ham central so i'm gonna disconnect quite a few of these guys maybe four of you and then you lot are gonna come from here up to that one whoa okay okay okay ham has gone mad we're going to need more motorways what do we do here what do we do here it's getting risky it's getting risky i think it's too late for a roundabout because if i want to connect this motorway to a roundabout i'm going to have to dig it up i've learned never to change motorways late game and i think that should be better i think the dual motorways into this one it is bringing it down slowly yeah i think we did good i think we did a good thing week 11 give me the motorways i'm gonna bring that one to the right because i think this one this supermarket it was struggling a little bit i'm tempted to give this guy a private motorway and a motorway from there over to those all right we've got a new purple imax i'm gonna bring oh look two purple houses we should just be able to do that i don't think traffic will slow down that or will it no it is it's slowing down not ideal anyway week 12 traffic lights yeah let's grab some traffic lights and i'll tell you what i'm actually going to traffic light that junction up apparently traffic lights are good now word on the street but uh hopefully that will keep things going a bit smoother oh look purple's down here thankfully there's houses nearby oh another pink imax let's just press pause a second i'm just gonna i'm just gonna sort of move these into more efficient places so are you purples you're a bit annoying that not gonna lie all right tell you what then as these are sort of so close i'm gonna rip up that road we're gonna do that and we're gonna traffic light that junction up oh god pink has gone mental though we might need to replace some of these roads with motorways oh god oh god oh god and there's a green down there i didn't see that green at all all right where are we where can we grab some help i think we can grab some of these houses so i'm gonna do that for now and we're gonna motorway from there over to there almost out of the map like what if we made a new sort of we can disconnect that one those two aren't doing a lot so what if we motorway from here up to there and then put traffic lights and then no traffic lights needed right all right so let's see if that fixes any of these i'm just going to move motorway 13 so you can see look all the green cars come on save the journey there's a timer we've got to get rid of the timer we're on 2 600 points that's really good actually all right just scanning i don't see any problems anywhere too much alright yellows down here a little bit risky now i might motorway in but i'm going to wait till the end of the week uh roundabouts or traffic lights i guess traffic lights i got loads of both i don't really need either well let me 2012 is still sat there doing nothing let's do that for now oh we got a timer up here that is not good i'm never sure what to do oh purples purples okay that's bad that is very bad i'm gonna take a motorway from here and connect it in there quick the timer is racking up oh they're battling come on come on timer i can't lose it now right end of week 15 roundabout i guess now we've only got one motorway left all right this purple one is fine it's okay we just about saved it there's no timer there anymore we've got the option to creep off some of these purples to other places oh no more ham more ham brash ham this time i'll tell you what we'll take these three houses with our last motorway motorway 15 up to there i am not liking the lack of motorways oh timer timer purple god it's not even on imax either oh week 16 there's no there's no motorway that's no good right then let's do that then i'm gonna sort of split these up so basically these two are gonna come around the outside straight down but straight into there like that i might even i'm gonna connect all of these just because it's it's carnage it's about to pop it's about to pop what can i do what can i do oh the time is coming down time is going down it's okay i think we saved it i think we saved the day right there's a timer on the bright pinks are there any traffic lights that could help i just i just added a few more traffic lights and sort of change where this drive was just to make it a simpler junction now hopefully that's done something there's a lot of traffic down there they look at this road it's just pink carnage week 17 we got motorways we got two motorways yes motorway matt is a happy boy right pinks are bad can we motorway in there at all i'm sort of thinking we we do an arm we traffic light it to keep it going fast and then we motorway from there to somewhere pink oh god ham at the top as well oh there's a few timers there's a few ham timers or all the ham timers oh god uh all right we might need a new motorway we're on or over 5000 points so this is fantastic all right let's just pause let's let's take a moment to relax this will get a bit stressful right so i think we're gonna have to split these up so i'm sort of thinking we delete that and then we do our own motorway down to somewhere that's already quite hammy tell you what i'm gonna bring a load of these down we're going up to there i might bring this ham guy across put traffic lights there because that shouldn't be used too often i could even bring one of you up like all of this ham is leaving straight away they're going along our new motorway it's beautiful it is beautiful oh god there's so much ham i'm hoping this one should fix itself because we've split up all of that traffic oh it's not looking good they i don't even have an emergency motorway our crap what do we do what do we do there are cars coming along motorway six oh it's going to be so tight that might be the end that might be the end get in get in pull in oh look how close it is they're all pulling in they are all pulling in come on route 36 yes it's going down it's going down oh no there's one in the middle huh what's that one what color is that i can't even see that one okay i've connected an extra house in i think i can't i can't even see we contain motorways yes right press pause i'm gonna motorway from these greens motorway 18 that is you're actually going to take these ones over to here and i'm going to take these guys once they're all connected nice over to this one so that's 19 motorways and hopefully that should fix some stuff i'm also going to bring you up there all right that seems to have fixed most things this is a mess now though can you see they're all queuing up on motorway 18 trying to get in there's no way of traffic lighting down there so i'm just gonna have to leave it and hope they can get in somehow tell you what if i can bring that to there yeah yeah that's a better idea that's a better idea so now i've drawn a t-junction and then i can traffic like that up that should help but it might be too late oh god we've also got purple here how do i save that purple um what are they connected to 14 so i've only got four houses oh we died we died we died well that was meant let's have a look at that let's that was our absolute mess of motorways i think we got 19 in the end oh hang on look at that was i just editing that or have i just had motorway 16 literally doing nothing the whole time balls i think i had a motorway not doing anything yeah but anyway six thousand pretty good score probably not very highly ranked let's go have a look imagine oh look that's pretty good actually 675th in the world but the main thing we beat eddie's left testy back of the net right on that note peace love and motorways i'll catch you guys next time bye [Music]
