Our Vietnamese Blue Beauties Hatched!!

oh my gosh today is day 60 for the blue beauties and look i see a blob over there oh [Music] oh my gosh there's a baby blue beauty [Music] hi welcome to the world oh my gosh you're so cool looking you've got a mask and everything this is the first time we've read any old world rat snake look ahead it just came in this is a very ah oh he's huge yeah that is a big baby oh so that means these guys are gonna be coming out any minute i think it's safe to take these out he's like i can't get back in oh you're stuck are you trying to suck in here can i help do you want to hide from me there you go oh i thought they were going to hatch soon because they started denting in like that and i mean day wise we were at day 60 but usually indentations like that around the time they're due means they're gonna hatch very soon and that started happening about three days ago and now you're out there's another one that's dented oh my gosh okay well we will give them 24 hours and then cut them open well it's the next night and the first baby is out of the egg are you gonna be a super big sassy pants like your parents are of course oh actually that's not the first baby that pipped yesterday this is the one that pipped well he just wants to take his time are you scared of people now that you got stuck in the egg yesterday hi this is the square one oh yeah square root came out slash long division sign i'm so angry at the world oh my gosh you're going to be just like your parents yep this is kind of what oh look at that low slow tongue flick well hello i guess i've got to hold you yep come here oh my gosh you're so long and skinny wow look at you oh my gosh our first old world rat snake breeding i'm so mad you are not happy with us right now are you oh my gosh these are going to be you can already see the blues on them yeah you are already first off a jerk i like how he missed completely both times he struck so far wow look at this strike pose [Laughter] oh my gosh he fell he went back so far that's a good strike pose oh scary camera oh everything's a threat right now i bet even my thumb can be a threat yep that's pretty scary too i mean in all fairness even his parents think everything's a threat still that's true yeah i just like them these are all going to be little firecrackers yes they are and for that reason i'm going to oh he's even i think he's even stretching out his yes he is oh he's doing the long way stretch oh my gosh oh do it from day one he'll do it again do it again so the cool thing about old world rat snakes is instead of like hog noses that flatten out horizontally when they're threatened these guys will flatten out vertically come on flatten out flatten out there you go there it is oh you are adorable oh my gosh she feels so fragile i don't want to break them like compared to a bull snake which you can't break a baby bowl snake they are robust yeah b is being arboreal and thinner bodied i don't i don't want to break them but it has been 24 hours so what we're going to do is cut a small opening at the top of the eggs so they have an exit to come out of when they're ready no you don't get away with that pun hey comment section gave me that punch i don't care you don't get away with that oh my gosh let's see what's inside these eggs here's the baby that pipped last night who is refusing to come out of the egg but he has made quite a few slices there's a slice here and here and here and here and here and here and here are you an overachiever all right well then the square root is out right yep that baby is empty and the entire clutch incubated together because we didn't find them right away so they were already stuck but all of the eggs made it by the looks of it anyway so the tough part is though they were positioned vertically so i only have a little bit that i can cut a window into so i'm gonna try my best i guess i'll start with the subtraction sign and we will see how these babies look good looking juice yeah the goop looks good i see a baby in there oh look at you poke test are you gonna respond oh yep you look good cool okay uh plus sign sure okay wouldn't it be cool if one of these was albino that would be amazing just gonna throw it out there in case it magically see but now that you said it it's not gonna happen yeah probably not reveal of the plus sign in three two one oh yep wow he's really oh yeah yeah you look good how about i never thought a bunch of normal babies would be so exciting i know it's cause we weren't expecting to breed these yet total just happenstance considering this was just a craigslist find yeah we found the pair on craigslist in teeny tiny cages and now they're breeding how cool is that oh i see a baby weird like no pattern how are you little baby are we good we respond yep yep we're responding how about summation i don't think i ever made it that far in math half summations really yeah you went to a private school and not high school just elementary school i guess we didn't did you do summations in elementary school you did it oh wow woodbury elementary schools are on point okay we've got a baby in some means looks good yep you sucked in okay division oh this is a really like packed egg what do you mean by packed like there's no squish on this one this was this was a full twins would be cool oh i only see one that's okay though it looks like a good baby poke test yep oh stop poking me sorry i'll stop poking you just want to make sure you're okay okay here's i goop looks good it does always look great yeah they do baby's in there i see a stripe did i see anything in there oh there we go yeah okay yep sucked in okay yep that one was hard to see on camera okay yeah that's a tough one he's way down in there that one's really calcified too jeez yeah yeah these eggs are like really tough they're still i guess leathery but nothing that i've ever felt before don't slice your thumb oh wow oh weird must have hit a vein on this yeah that's completely normal by the way guys yep vein on the outside or inner lining of the shell rather not a vein on the snake i should have specified see baby in there poke test a little bit maybe maybe i guess we'll see when that comes yeah that one's a weird one yeah so we'll see so maybe that one might not make it how about x squared ah these eggs are so tough all right that one's like tied up still weird yeah that one is definitely tied up might not be fully developed are you moving yeah yeah all right weird why do you look so funny okay last egg i wasn't looking forward to doing this one because this one's like a weird angle and it's a calcified shell is that enough can you see a baby in there oh yeah oh yeah i can too all right it looks good too looks like another one that's kind of covered in whiteness but yeah you're responding yep oh yeah we're good we're good so i think oh there's one iffy parentheses yeah yeah parentheses is a little iffy looking but they all otherwise look perfect they're all responding they look healthy and all developed except for a couple that are maybe mostly developed so we're gonna give them a day and check back tomorrow and see what all has come out of the egg yeah hopefully e actually comes out yeah yeah dude you're the first to pimp yeah yeah sibling section that he's in right now so he's not getting stuck oh sure oh hey little dude baby oh my gosh okay well you just come out when you're ready yep you chill we'll see you tomorrow all right everyone it is the next night and we have one baby out a second baby out and a third baby out now this one though has a lot of yolk still attached to it i don't know why he decided to come out because there's like a big vein there that's still connected and that is not anywhere near detaching i don't think so we're not going to get too attached to that one just in case but if you look over here we have a nose another nose and another nose and a face oh come on out we want to meet you you going to come out now you were blowing bubbles earlier i can see your egg tooth cute this is a little like tooth it looks like a buck tooth yeah come on out good news parentheses has pipped parentheses looks great well it's been a few days and i think all of the blue beauties are now out of the eggs we have not really gone through yet to check them all out i'm really curious to see how that one with the yolk still attached is doing i mean they're all in a pile so i hope he's not just like dead at the bottom of the pile but let's find out here we go first ever blue beauties hatched at snake discovery oh look at them all some are already in actually a lot of them are already in blue i'm running on the blue really quick does that mean they're going to be extra sassy or they'll be nicer because they can't really see much looks like nicer yeah they all seem very subdued oh look at that i wonder if that's the yolk maybe it was attached to the one yeah maybe he dropped it are you out of the egg yeah okay how many eggs did we have again two four six eight ten twelve high oh look at that i love the old world rats fake tail buzz because it's not like a buzz like you oh like you see with black snakes it's a whole tail waggle [Music] he's so happy yeah it maybe that's it yeah just like a dog tail let's separate them and see if we can find this one with the if this is unfortunately dead or okay a nice big baby oh look at the patterns on these wow just those like diamonds down the side not really diamonds i guess but those blotches down the side these are such pretty babies well i mean that's why they're called the blue beauty that's true they haven't even had their first shed yet so i expect they'll be really colorful after they shed too oh oh we've got a sassy one i forgot how he can't do anything he's trying though he is the sass is starting to show yes it is oh no here's another one nope stay in here stay in here oh my gosh they're such long lanky snakes all right they're nothing like hog noses that are short and stubby are they i don't know oh no we need a lid stat love it nice that'll help this one has like olive colors down its neck wow that was really pretty and then the last one is oh that's the last one yeah that's the last time oh my god this is the last one and it's the one with like the really dark colors along the sides there weren't any that seemed to have any yolk retained or none that passed oh are you gonna bite me too oh hi oh we've got a couple that have the like crinkly look down their back oh really yeah so old world rat snakes and some new world rat snakes will sit sometimes in an odd position where it looks like they have a bunch of kinks but that's just to break up the uh straightness of their body to make them look less like a snake he's just tail wagon as i do this uh so that is normal it's not kinks it's just how old world rat snakes sit yeah they like scrunch yeah well there we go our first ever clutch of vietnamese blue beauty rat snakes make sure they all came out it looks like we counted we have 11 babies over there but 12 eggs here so that must mean that somebody didn't hatch we've got you've hatched you've hatched oh there he is yep is he alive at all and just not coming out yet or oh we could try the poke test and see are you alive all right don't be escaping oh no back in i don't think this one's alive it's definitely not responding much if at all i don't know if the movement is from it moving back into position after i touch it should we take it out and look though sure all right oh yeah look at that yeah he didn't make it unfortunately did not make it um i can't really tell why i don't see any kinks it looks fine otherwise so maybe he just couldn't get his head up and around and he drowned yeah maybe i mean that is why we cut them is to give them the best chance possible but even then sometimes they don't make it so i might keep them in the egg so if somebody wants to like preserve them maybe they could there back in the egg so he'll be used for something at least exactly well at least we have 11 healthy babies that hatched and you know that sometimes happens it is sad but it's part of breeding not all of your babies are always gonna hatch and make it but we are happy with what we got here oh well you're not happy about it no he's like i love that brother oh so angry hi oh you've got little teeth you're actually stuck there you're like slightly painful velcro hi are you going to try to you're checking me out ow all right well let's just set you up in baby bins i'm going to take you out first because you're trying to bite me you may recognize these from last year when we discovered that these little sugar packet containers make excellent baby hides and actually a fan sends us two whole packs of these so this is going to come in so handy with all of these unexpected blue beauty babies [Music] are you ready babies ready to go in your baby bins here you can choose ow come here there that's your new home for now there you go yeah for now here's your new baby bin there you go there you go and there you go hi you look like a sassy baby oh you're so sassy oh geez he does look like a happy puppy like this mouth open tail wagging oh you're so happy oh the other one's happy too look at your tails waggling oh my goodness all right all right i'll put them in the baby rack never mind before i put them in the baby rack i got distracted because just i want to take a moment to appreciate all of these adorable babies that we weren't even expecting this year and there just suddenly were eggs oh that one's in the cave and we just had eggs from our blue beauties that's just so cool and unexpected should we take the parents out sure or at least one of them parents are actually a little less sassy than these guys yeah oh look at the little crinkly baby you ready for this here's mom mom oh mama look at your babies yeah you did that they hatched she might actually be grab it again yeah she's pretty thick yeah like right down here she she might be i mean she could just be fluffing out too yeah she's angry look at these babies of yours you did so good so it's like i don't like you mom look at your mom oh don't spite her nose that's so rude she's like whatever kids will be kids you're a very tolerant mother well now we're going to add our baby blue beauties to our baby snake rag i'll add water afterwards with all the uh straight behanna babies yeah they get their first meals tonight actually oh is it tonight yep tonight is their first meal and then a week from now will be their first meal okay that's so exciting yeah now we get to make the trip back and forth many many times add my own music all right now we just gotta put the other three and then put them in we didn't forget about you three babies we just oh look he looks so sad though oh you're by yourself come here oh we love you this one's happy don't bite me don't pick me up happy happy snakes so happy oh i'm stuck there wow i love their attitudes you're just little firecrackers i'll carry the sad one over oh that's the shy one yep there we go he's still happy well we have all the babies set up in their baby bins the only thing we haven't done yet is fill up the water dishes which we're just gonna do after this and we're going to add little identification note cards to the front of each bin that has their species their hatch date their sex i don't know if i'm confident in my abilities oh actually they might be easier than i thought they're long tailed to begin with but i think we're just going to look through a few of them and we should be able to figure it out for some of them anyway so we're going to add the sexes on to them as well and then keep track of their feeding chart or their feeding schedule and after a few or several meals with us on frozen thawed hopefully i they're good eaters i don't think we'll have much of a problem getting them on frozen thought then we will go through the spontaneous waiting list we happened to create after we got these eggs we'll have to choose a couple that we want to keep yeah i think we're going to keep some yeah definitely gonna keep some oh my gosh this is so exciting we got baby blue beauties thank you everyone for watching today's video and thank you to our very generous
