okay here we go we have or raspado who some people call the mob boss of Hollywood that's for some people say yeah welcome to Vlad TV thank you very much nice to hear well this is your first time here so I want to start in the very beginning you were born 2 7 1 December 17th 1944 in her Rome New York right ok and I guess your grandfather and your grandfather's brother were a part of the Mafia back in Italy yes ok and it was Calabria caliber yeah calibrate the undergrad tax cost ok so how much did you know about what they were doing as a child I didn't really know anything I was only when I be honest with you it was the evening of my stag party after everybody left my father and I said and I rest my called San Carlos restaurant and my father started telling me stories ok was your father involved in the Mafia don't know he was not ok so your grandfather my grandfather just had to cut about all all that okay and there somehow I got into my blood okay and from what I understand the Mafia is only in Italy in the u.s. is the Cosa Nostra yeah okay and I also wanna make it there is a difference between the Sicilian Mafia couple of towns were she called to come around and the Calabria was called the Andrew gotta okay what's difference what's the difference with the Calabria well the Calabrian czar more it's more family real family blood brothers sisters cousins and they're actually big the biggest one of them all okay throughout the world and you know and I've spoken to different mob guys over the years and they said how like in Italy it's a little bit different like for example the Italians would go after the police and politicians and stuff like that whereas in the u.s. you never really see that that was brought upon different organizations in Italy as they did go after them I can't be on I'm not an expert in that area but it is a rule in this country you know we always have a sane they're doing their job we're doing ours and from what from what I've heard and you actually said this in one of your interviews originally the Mafia formed as a like a protection like I remember there was this one guy he played a big [ __ ] on The Sopranos I heard an interview saying that it formed it was a kebab I guess a girl had gotten raped yeah woman was like mafia my daughter and sister they yes so you know when the French invaded Sicily that actually happened to happen in apart from my understanding on a Sunday afternoon when one of the French shoulders raped one of the woman and then it just spread to Italy and it was to protect our own and that's how it was when they came over this country to protect our own right so you were born in the 40s and you went to high school and you ended up joining the US Army yeah team and where we stationed were stationed at Schofield Barracks or white okay so you never saw any battle or anything I can't discuss that okay and you're uh honorably discharged in 1966 yes and you came back to Rome New York correct you want to end up getting into the insurance business at that point yeah okay and at this point were you totally legit or were there things that were happening outside of your regular job I was a totally legitimate person I did extremely long insurance business I was with the Prudential Insurance Company I was a member of the million-dollar wrong table and then I wanted transfer to California and I put a request in to my manager Holly got Adela his name was request to be transferred to Los Angeles and time went on time went on and I'm not hearing nothing I can't confront them all I got a hair from the Home Office and one day I was at my stockbrokers office and the manager from John Hancock was there you see want to go to California get you a job right now and hear me a job lined up officers were on Beverly Boulevard right next to CBS Merv Griffin's office was upstairs of me and okay you go home so you're in Los Angeles selling insurance and I was here with my first wife and my daughter and we only stayed here then and because we had a lot of real estate another hold he's back in upstate New York I went back there to straighten things out ended up starting a business called the ory agency which was shown the automobile dealer I trained automobile dealers back in the day the exam one of the pioneers and what's called the teal business turning over a customer that a finance manager did he had to sale manager and whatever you want to call them I grew as doing several millions of dollars a year a gentleman named Frank Russo who was a lawyer his father was also Frank Russo who was the boss in the old days in Rome New York and Frank told me a lot about my grandfather that he used open the the doors on the cellar doors on a Saturday morning and only a few people were allowed my grandfather was one of them and - Frank Frank was well known to a lot of people it was Frank who introduced me to Frank Costello although I only met Frank Costello a couple of times you were before his death he died in 1973 we met at the Waldorf it was Frank Costello told me always be a gentleman and I met Russell Bufalino had lunch with him Joe Pesci just played in the Irish friend uh-huh okay so you actually knew him yes did you know the Irishman you know I did not know Frank Sheeran did you know Jimmy Hoffa you never met Jimmy off of my father did okay but you knew that the Joe Pesci character what was the name again Russell Bufalino Russell Bufalino now I just watch the Irish man Russell seem kind of like a middleman between sort of everybody was that a good way to describe him he was a powerful guy quiet guy yes he was he ran a great organization may I say any story stand out to him during their dealings with him well I know he had I don't know if of his brothers child or maybe was his child from another wife or something he's supported only married once but in Rome we had a place it was called the state school where children with Delphic difficulties I went and I went with who's Frank Russo responsibility to check on this young kid for Russell then when Russell was arrested and they were transported into New York he ended up in the Oneida County Jail I don't know and he was there for a few of nights and I would go with Frank because in those days we had things pretty well locked down in upstate New York and they a lot of sin and we bring her spaghetti meatball sausage and you know real Italian meals okay so what point is your association with organized crime begin I never considered myself affiliated with anybody I always consider myself a renegade oh and my book The Accidental gangster I turned it down twice to become a main man okay which families offered you it's on one side here in the West Coast and once Sonny shouldn't know you're not getting made there you're getting made here so the Colombo family offers you yeah to be made okay and we'll get into that whole part of the story and so forth so you're in Rome New York and you're you know some of these these criminal figures did you start doing crimes back in in Rome or is it until you move back to Los Angeles well no if that's what you call crimes here's what happened and I'm going to tell more about it my second book is called by my my journey through the judicial system I had a legitimate business the Ori agency and I came up with an idea of how to bring this on a national basis and I needed twelve million dollars I'm going back early seventies twelve million dollars a lot of money but I came up the way to bring this national I was a legitimate businessman doing several millions of dollars a year I had agents throughout New York State and had over 250 automobile dealers its clients of mine and we were in Boston when they were filming the Brinks job with John Cassavetes Peter Falk and and uh actually the guy who actually performed the brakes job well sir P and Dino De Laurentiis were filming rough surfing was a producer around that and explained to ruff what I needed because I knew Dino was like magic he could raise money from anywhere do you know that was his fourth day raise the money and get money for film so I put the plan together we flew walked to Beverly Hills met with Dino De Laurentiis he loved the idea I brought them I demonstrated what we called the ori method in downtown LA molders back then and enemy time while I'm doing all this traveling on airplanes and everything one of the guys that I worked for found out about a deal that I had with the insurance company where I was allowed to use the premiums to grow the business because here again this insurance company was out of Michigan I was their golden boy I'm bringing a millions of dollars a year and he found out getting drunk one night dating my second and without with myecon only three people besides he searched company knew about the deal me my brother and my comb nobody else know and generally found out about it he threatened the insurance company that he would blow them into the New York state insurance department happened on the same day that I flew back from San Francisco were with a girl that became my second wife my first wife picks me up at the airport and Fort Lauderdale and as we're driving to the condo I'm telling her look that we got a lot of money we own this property that property let's get a divorce was still young you're beautiful you can find somebody and then when we walked into my condo my kids my mother I remember looking on my patio window and there on the beach playing my phone rings and it was my bookkeeper telling me that dick levy called he's in LaGuardia Airport he's coming in to close my business but he wanted me to call him I called dickish what he talked about he explained to me he said can you get the money and their money was fighting the banks and so forth in those day so I got on a plane flew back had Frank Russo and my banker in my office I needed $350,000 something like that mmm I already old the bank maybe close to a million and it was a small bank and that was the maximum loan they can make now I looked at Frank I says Frank I said what's the worst could happen he said you're looking to 50 years in jail I said what do you want to represent me and Frances no he says only untoward to represent you he says I recommend Luis Brindisi you got Luis Brindisi Ana meantime I was trying to raise the money came just close to it because I felt if I could pay that off I still got my other businesses everything be all right needed to say I lost everything four and a half years later I got indicted on mail fraud and that was the beginning my first felony in a federal court in circus they are benefi on all my life our daya felon so what what happened next in terms of your career well you know throw you know I met Sonny Frank chase in the meantime Meyer Lansky's estate the Warwick hotel suite he had two suite above me I would walk with him every evening with his dog down 54th Street make a left on 5th to 57th right around back to 50 57 back to 54th Street down sixth Avenue and that is probably it's not like I said I want to start doing crimes but they took my insurance relations away from me and that was a very pivotal moment in my life because that was my means making I really enjoyed the insurance business and but even then they were trying to set me up they had the guy Jim John O'Reilly who was the first guy to ever become an informant against me try to set me up calling me up asking me about my friend Sonny French a Meyer Lansky and I felt something funny over the fall and I would say I don't know who these guys are you talking about perhaps a rather name in a newspaper in other words what I'm saying I was probably a natural for the life okay so Sonny Franzese was the underboss you know the Colombo crime family and he was really like very high-profile in terms of the FBI going after him and being in the newspapers and everything else like that he was not one of these undercover guys that you'd ever hear oh he was like a John Gotti type character Sonny was saying he's a very smart individual which I later found out after his eyes almost killed me as I sit down in a Russian Tea Room which is in my book and that's the reason why Michael French age did not like me but I never liked Michael leader well I'm gonna be Michael Franzese a couple times yes and we brought your name up yes did you watch the interview absolutely he knew your father I guess very well that's current said at one point your father actually put a hit out on do you know about this put a hit out on Orry yeah no I don't know that to be a fact but or he's a bad guy I mean order use my father's name use my name threaten people as a result of that he was doing some illicit things and my brother I think it was feeding my brother drugs I think when my brother finally straightened out a little bit when he was living with me out here you know in the early 2000s I think already put him back on drugs I don't like gory spade Oh and he won't come near me regardless of what he might have said in that empty I don't I I don't I'm not aware of the interview so I don't know if he said anything about anything but he's a liar I wouldn't believe anything that he says okay so first of all before we get into into this part of the story at one point Sonny Franzese put a hit out on you let me explain how that happened I was rockin and rollin I'm out here in California and I was taking care of John francesc a bill John French changed out of jail a couple times that really sunny Sun sunny real Sun right who who was a drug addict yes I kept drug dealers away from Michael says and I this pisses me off Michael okay I never gave Johnny any [ __ ] drugs he was a drug dealer he was on drugs since 1980 after that interview I got a call from the next-door neighbor but I know the story and I'm gonna leave something out Johnny got sober because of me what happened was my son was doing a party heading my club done in Worcester Boulevard and Johnny wanted to go to it he came he was I I see you ain't going John and I had a girlfriend it was a drug addict she ended up dying as a result all the other drugs so it's pretty familiar because I tried helping my girlfriend been a meetings out or not I went through all that there and hopes that I was gonna be the savior and so I told John I said you're not going I said what you're gonna do I'm bringing you over to Cedars you gonna tell them you jumped in front of my car try to kill yourself they'll put you in the aliens for 72 hours that's just you're not going to my son's party I don't want you dead cloth and that's what I did but unfortunately he left there at 4:00 a.m. in the morning he's not gonna have my freakin door honey you know I got my building cuz it's a secure building he but he got it I said he's one sleep on my couch there's no Johnny stay right there I got dressed I took him in a car and I can't just put somebody on the street so I was looking for a hotel for him and Santa Monica they were all full so I brought him to the coffee bean sitting down having coffee had a talk with him and he wanted to go to his brother's house now I knew where Michael left I know every house Michael's ever had out here I don't give any [ __ ] I know what Michael is so told Johnny I'll Drive you you can walk the rest of the way and they dropped him off on a corner and what happened and we didn't find out until a year later he heard voices coming from the building now with all the rehabs and all the meetings he bento this meeting changed them it happened to be an a a meeting that he walked into where he heard the voices I didn't hear from Johnny for a year and then I get a call Johnny call me uncle said Uncle Laurie I've been sober for a year he told me to start over to fall he says I'm getting my year what do they call it the Year pen or whatever they get he said I really would love for you and Anthony to be there and Anthony and I were there for his year because there was a big thing for him I was very happy for Johnny that he found it because unless you want it you're not going to sober up and that that mean he enjoys a good talker gave a good speech great speech and he says I'm so happy my uncle Laurie and my cousin Anthony are here he said that he said I hope I'm allowed in his home again unfortunately he was but I understand John was weren't away for the Sheriff's Department air in Los Angeles he did get married he married this girl Denise we went to the wedding and then Michael walked in with his wife I said hello and we walked out right because Johnny eventually got back on drugs yeah and the wire the he wore was used to convict his father well know that I said there's a different part oh yeah Johnny Johnny was Anna for I found this out in court in Brooklyn New York because they try to say that I sold Johnny a gun and johnny was wired up with the Sheriff's Department in Los Angeles against me trying to get information I never sold Johnny GaN never thrown nobody a gun but they wanted the trying to build additional and that's when it came my attorney asked wanted that tape and wanted that gun guess what he could never find it chef's department didn't have it or they just didn't they did have a tape but I'm sure Johnny Johnny was an informant I never trusted Johnny as far he's doing anything illegal with and he would come and say my father said there's my you know and I could [ __ ] stories of Johnny Johnny take me out in Farmingdale at a diner I was taped when Johnny got under witness stand and the US Attorney ass or friends of your father my name was a very first I had the court transcript I can back up and everything I say he says always paid of my friends with my father for over 35 years what's always paid or do or he's paid has done nothing all his life but deal drugs and he went out about me with fathers had thousands of friends back in New York but and the first one he brings up and then when prosecuting a defense attorney got up said he said Mr Saito never worked a day in his life yeah that's true what about the 15 years mr. Saito provided entertainment to the Queen Mary in Long Beach California oh I forgot about that what about when mr. Saito was gonna work with Andrea Bocelli or he knew Andre I don't witness Benny's list I would have loved to meet him or he never told me that but as far as the hip is concerned Sonny sent this guy I met the first tape conversation because me and my co-defendant Chris we listened to our discovery every opportunity we had it was over 500 takes seven hours each 3500 hours of discovery and guy Furtado came to California and he's sitting on my couch at the same time that a Jamaican boy named Ricky Lee Ricky Durant who's a big dealer marijuana cocaine he got busted I was luring him up he was in downtown and DC Los Angeles his wife came over to Mexican who I ever to know and Ricky had a half a million dollars on the streets of Brooklyn and older to these two Mexicans and I have no no two guys in Brooklyn I called them this is already look it you know we have a hundred thousand ready we're not dodging this Fatah - heard they had the hundred he says I could have that picked up right now and he did he had somebody pick it up I didn't know who later found out it was the FBI didn't bust these guys they took the money the first hundred grand for that we'll send something back to me in the meantime for Todd oh he's telling these guys look we'll get your money but you got give us 50 kill every two weeks you know you know Lori is good and now he's saying he's got me above the cocaine deal of 50 kilos these guys ain't going to give us 50 kills so they got their half a million now Vitara when he goes back to the world before he goes back to know he said Sonny said he wants you to introduce me to his son Johnny so I called Johnny thinking I'm introducing these guys but they already knew who the Freak each other work with the day I be restaurant I'm sitting between it most of all and they're both wires so potatoes going back to New York he's talking to Michael got a panel telling Michael Carter panel all the money we're gonna make from this be cocaine dia they're always putting together always putting together there was no cocaine Jo I never was never gonna do a cocaine yo I tried to grab 50 grand from him tell him I need a money up front I never got it never got the other 400,000 now because there's no cocaine deal telling Michael Karl pile or he's been doing the [ __ ] D on these [ __ ] nuts can I say [ __ ] yeah good or he's [ __ ] us so now here's Michael carbonyl and I we never discussed drugs I never talked I never had to report Sonny was my friend Sonny the guy I talked to nobody else and so he growling up Michael cotta pot oh and Michael goes to Sonny himself Sonny I'm my son [ __ ] them all there's money and gets permission awaiting me said my honor tape which eventually worked out for my benefit so there's a tape of Sonny approving yeah I hit on you yes as there is where Sonny is saying that he had to go vote and gave approval the like John Gotti junior right and Sonny also they say approved a hit on his own son Johnny as well as Michael Franzese well let me tell you something I only got upset with Sonny for one reason see Sonny will call me in the New York to come in for dinner like he did this morning when again I taught week I'm gonna see me when you come to see me I don't me tell you something Sonny sounds like the same guy I met over 40 years ago I don't have to say hi this is Ari he said they worried what are you doing buddy he knows who I am baring my voice but I wanted to check things out this morning so I when the nurse answer the phone see when you called a nurse you know where something's at you get the researchers down there you don't have to say I want to speak to John frangie Sonny please and they transfer you upstairs everybody knows them they love them now since that interview did with Michael I've had over ten phone calls from people back east about my interview about your interview with Michael Michael said and you know I sort of feel sorry for Michael I gotta be honest with you and I tell you white he's living a life that's not his own life he should wake up face who he really is I'm he proclaims to be a born-again Christian correct right well then that means he reads the Bible right no look I don't go to church I was born to catch like a diet Catholic I go to church when there's nobody there once every couple months maybe so I could have a talk with the guy one on one I don't know a damn thing about a Catholic religion I don't know nothing about any religion but I do know certain things and I think as Exodus 20:16 and the Bible if you're going out preaching it then you should live it and I sure that's what Michael should do you don't think he's living a guy's living his father's life he's very jealous of his father he hasn't see Sonny in a year he proclaims he's there all the time he claims I use his [ __ ] name you think I'm gonna use a rat's name and you show me anybody because somebody else - right there - right right because he he said that he felt that you actually [ __ ] show me a 5k1 show me a proper statement show me a reverse proper statement you won't find one in my entire [ __ ] lifetime and not a person has been investigated arrested or anything because of Morris fatal I can look in the mirror I could put my head on the pillow when I go to sleep well what about Michael French hey you want to talk about really read it huh I got a piece of paper here I got a [ __ ] little [ __ ] about him did I know I know you have fifty million dollars in Panama or at least that's where it originally was 100 who put it there I know the lawyer I'm not going to tell you his name all right his initials our Pete oh I know I guess he's all right what about the janitor what about Nora being watered when he was understand testifying against Nora be waters you gonna remember everybody he talked about a friend of his father's me reach out for Michael Frank chase not in this [ __ ] lifetime why would I reach out to a rat why you got an answer to that no you really like to see my court record I was in general population of every prison I was in he talks about John Gotti being punked what the [ __ ] is he know about John Gotti John Gotti was not punked by anybody in prison I'm not a John Gotti by far but I was respected as an Italian gangster in prison as every Italian gangster who was not an informant is respected in prison there's no John Gotti I'm my gun daddy twice with Sonny good I did not we didn't have conversations hello John didja this is aurita that there well how did you get the title of mob boss of Hollywood because why are they I say in my book okay but you weren't part of any actual mob no you weren't I had my own crew yeah I made got the ability to do things and I did things my way right you weren't a cop all the Hollywood Rodino and through the people entertainment business I became a fixer I get things quietly I never needed the gang of guys go after anybody how big was your crew I have four or five guys okay you know you went through some of your stories in your book about some of the things that you did I remember there was one story about Naomi Campbell she had a stalker yeah and you showed up at the stalkers house and said I didn't show up I had two guys show two guys show up and they threatened him they didn't right now they put him on the phone with me okay more or less threatened it well it wasn't really a threat I gave him proper advice not to see her again or I never threaten nobody I just get people proper advice you look at a situation like that and compared to some of the stories I've heard about the mob it seems relatively tame what were some of the more serious situations that you got into you know a stalker is not that much of a threat no I could go deal with a stalker myself that's right you gotta find her first right but still not a huge threat no what were some of the really serious situations you got two especially in Hollywood I don't discuss all those things okay I mean it's passed the statute of limitations all right it's passed the statute of the mission's a questioner that there is a question naming people that there's no sin seadragon other people named into it on there was a particular actor there I did things nicely are you talking about people what's your question here on what's the worst thing that I ever done yeah please clarify that what do you mean was the most violent thing you ever did oh Jesus I can't remember okay [Laughter] at one point you met Haitian jack yeah I know Haitian jacket as well we've had a few conversations a Haitian Jack ended up being tied in to the whole Tupac story later on all right but you knew him earlier and at one before - back no I didn't know him before oh this was after Tupac mr. Park died Tupac died in 1996 96 yeah that's around Jack after that okay so you met around 97 98 you know I had to be around 2000 2001 memory okay so later on at one point he ended up sleeping on your couch for like a year here how do you let this stranger end up sleeping on your couch for an extended period of time like that he's clearly not a family member not a family member I you know what what did I do that I don't know I would never do it again you tell you that much oh how did I do that he came he was introduced to me by Danny Simms and then he sends was a really good guy then he sends the guy that first produced Bob Marley and when in LA I was Danny's guy when in New York Joe paneer was his guy when in London my mate joy pile was this guy and he came back he was coming back he stopped in New York with white left meditation Jack came out one thing led to another and Asian Jack ended up sleeping on my couch he was a little nervous about some things and he's a good talker asian jack good-looking boy unfortunately he was another right it was saying that he cooperated with the police yeah on what exactly several things from my understanding a lot of same drug dealers and he and that one the prison it's a convenient way to get rid of him so they don't come back to you right oh so you're saying that he robbed drug dealers and then collaborating you know I don't know that for sure I know he's right drug yokes that I could say for sure okay a lot of people wouldn't want prison around though and and wasn't until people started telling me and he bushes stories coming out with and for me to go to Jack I never reach out to Jack to do ruckus can play Danny Jack for this [ __ ] if I was gonna do it there's a boy doing a lot a couple boys in the prison doing who done time we were out of time out of jail I remembers getting ready for court in Brooklyn and they bring in they put you one room he's chained his shackles and I'm sitting there I'm talking to a guy there's about 15 guys around this little cell and then hear anything go Beverly Hills or East bradle I look up like this I see you know me he said you forgot who I was was the guy that Jack had over at the check out his own apartment above me same building and he was in prison Jack didn't do nothing for him I had to feed the kid I can't remember his name either and then when I was in Lompoc I was at the microwave over one morning before they unlock the doors I tried to use the microwave before it's busy all day and I hear somebody going or speedo I turn around its a guy everybody's name is Horatio Hamilton he's known as Romey Rome II was a major drug dealer of marijuana over thousand pounds a week and there's once again I can't prove it because I didn't go digging into the files or anything not my business but Romi got a game your time and he told me he was talking to Jack and Ricki I said why you talking to these two rats for now because you know Jack's a Haitian Romy's Jamaican Rickey's did you make he's talking to them but at the same time I received in the mail a story that hey see jack is saying about always fatally some ex detective named Courtney's think it was Courtney I read how this stuff is all [ __ ] I said give me Jack's number and I didn't want to call Ricky because I had the proof of Ricky preferring against me there I helped he profit against me and Jimmy Iseman and you do know what a properly right yeah right put jack on my list for one day and I called him up and I am in Lompoc prison I'm calling Asian Jack in the Dominican I said what's this [ __ ] [ __ ] you're doing That's not me it's not me I swear that you mean henchman Rika's at one point Haitian Jack got deported and he ended up in the Dominican Republic that's God he was he's playing both ends against the middle trying to be the gangster and trying to give the FBI information working with the cops he didn't between them both so he gave a lot of information that it got but he also motion him a lot hmm it was a really relationship with that Jimmy henchman Jimmy and I were very good friends okay I know Jimmy I've interviewed him yeah I knew him yeah I knew him back when he was managing game and then you know I interviewed him while he wasn't pretty was a good guy Jimmy knew where I stayed in New York cuz every time I was in New York Jimmy came to visit me and so he knew exactly where I stayed so when Jack concocted this story about me doing drugs with some I forgot when that DEA is brother I don't know who the his brothers are it was Jimmy has been given that Jimmy henchman wouldn't recommend would have known the area and every it wasn't Jimmy I know that for a fact just because I'm making a habit and not telling anybody what the [ __ ] I'm doing why am I gonna go on telling people what I'm doing and today's world people know what the hell you're doing well at one point you were kind of brought in to try to mediate the situation between hereo and Suge Knight yes now Harry oh you know for those that nightmarish Michael Harris major drug dealer from Los Angeles who ended up getting 30 years or something like that that was just the state time wasn't that yeah no no either fair oh yeah he's supposed to be getting out soon allegedly unluckily allegedly there was news that he was out but he's not out yet I actually checked on that but the story goes and it's kind of a very fuzzy story that he was the one that put up the initial seed money for Dennis Records ah you know him and Suge had a good relationship at one point and then once Death Row Records started to get you know blow up Suge in an of distancing himself from Harry oh and it turned into a big big mess you know at the end of the day Lydia Harris ended up filing a lawsuit against death row and since she'll never showed up to court she was given a default judgment and death row records eventually just went away all right but you were brought in back when they were still trying to work it out yeah there's still death row records Danny brought Lydia Danny Central idiot to me oh and she would get Michael on a telephone or Michael would get her on a boy because he was in prison too so he was in prison he was in yeah I think they're the Lancaster I can't remember oh and Michael and I would talk I never met Michael face to face yet oh he's your real man someday I'd like to meet him stand-up guy but you were able to get a raw deal but you want to be able to actually fix that situation no it was a situation that I really shouldn't have about myself that too much because you know when you have to win every boy you've got to be able to sit the people down okay because you know there's three sides every story yours mine and the truth yeah and that's the purpose I couldn't never get the door and sit down but sugar and I eventually did become friends right you said that sugars a stand-up guy very stand-up yeah he's currently serving 28 years in prison yeah and some people can't stop but you to me was shut we're very respectful you know we collected a million dollars for him out of London and I only asked for 10% on that there and where's my back the next day see you be 200,000 yeah did I sweater with my friends in London right well let me just pull this up so all these years you're doing various things you're fixing situations in Hollywood you're involved in legal and illegal activities but you never really do any prison time along the way you get your five years probation early on right you get a day or two here and there but then 2008 rolls around and you get wrapped up in a RICO charge along with the Colombo crime family yeah what exactly were you being charged with I was charged with conspiracy to distribute cocaine and I was charged with a home invasion robbery and disability I was the boss of the home and Mayor Robert which home got invaded I was the drug dealer they drugged the other actually got deported it was his wife's face all right supposedly there was a million dollar but and I lawyer the guy out in New York when they transferred him to be deported I got him to lawyer in New York and the lawyer got him a real good deal instead of doing time he's just gonna deport it so he was forcing he was back in Jamaica I was at Ricky Lee's house one night when the wife pulled in with her van and had the safe in it and when tricky to open it up left it there and there was a million that because he would not get to save and then Ricky said he just gave the seat back to where he won and nothing to do with it then she came to me I met her Marie Callender's on Wilshire Boulevard and we had a talk and she wanted I said maybe we do a setup robbery so basically she was involved with us she knew it was going to happen uh-huh the safe was gonna come out of her house and so she'd have an excuse to tell her husband that she got robbed so she was trying to steal the money herself huh she was trying to steal the money or say yeah okay and she had her niece was there and in fact she didn't answer the door the first time when the guys got there and the guys called me and I called her and they answer the door but you know conveniently for the FBI they couldn't find her they said she fled the country they didn't want to bring her because they know that she bought her those charges would have been dropped and my friend Chris piranha McCann I never would have gone to prison well what does the Colombo crime family have to do with this whole situation I don't know way cuz it said I mean when I looked it up it was part of a RICO indictment having to do with the Colombo's yeah that's the irony of a RICO indictment they can invite you for nothing I believe that the firmly believe why I got involved in that Derrick RICO indictment and brought out in 1997 an FBI agent in Los Angeles looked at me and said I will see today your chain shackled put on Conair and brought the Brooklyn 19 1997 11 years later he made that a reality now that same agent got demoted and from my understanding was my doing that he got demoted off the organized crime task force you know he probably knows me a favor because he came pretty big in the fugitive squad to the FBI and I said he's the head of it now my understanding I see my TV was a while okay so he's that that way i cain't the FBI I had 12 tapes because it came to me to try to be an informant they were offering me money how much they offer you I got 5,000 here 5,000 there and all there's a guy he brought in I was also the guy that uncovered this FBI agent and the guy they brought in there was a football guy the guy from New Jersey that they flipped and they tried to get him to infiltrate the people out here in Los Angeles and particularly Joe denty now Joe and I knew each other and met him - Jimmy kachi and we'd like to each other ie - Frankie's all the time he's always there every night Joe is a diabetic on my diabetic would and we met on a few occasion when day I get a call from Joe and asked me to come up to his house he said Laurie he said I wasn't Frankie like these guys won't give me this jewelry won't give me watches she's a guy named Todd they said they're from Baltimore nice enjoy there's nobody in Baltimore anymore not that we know of and he said what you if you find anything out they may know the following week my girlfriend got out of a recovery home and so I was going to order dinner rent I got her silver and I call Frank he's ordered a meal and then another guy that I knew needed a hundred bucks I said meet me he was in the porn business I said meet me at Frankie's I give you two on your box and I went to Frankie's I got there went picked up my meals had a glass of wine and do you think the guy's name was Nora and I give him the hundred bucks now Frankie got very small buyers not big there was nobody at the bar I am a glass of wine I left the next day he calls me up this guy daggers on your buck he said there were two friends at the bar and we were talking he he was looking for 25 grand he said they said if or he guarantees the money they'll give it he said the good friend the earth I said what's their names get rid of the name I don't know he's freaking nice economy Piazza and the other guy using the agent username arena and in my head Marino I believe was the case agent indulge old dogs July a newsie why also mattdonna Florida so now my graphing was back out drinking doing drugs I had a date once the Frankie's had dinner I'm sitting there when my friend comes to me said Tommy like Tommy and Marie no they won't Tommy wants to say hello I send them over so I'm sitting in the restaurant comes over he's got go chain he's got all the goat [ __ ] on I'm looking at the guy and I'm taking voice this guy no but he's talking like he's my best friend and like I know no further he seen you don't remember me I said no he said we met him I'm in Palm Springs so now I think wait a minute didn't big change don't dog's face cuz this Beedrill dogs I don't know but he gave me the name Tom McPhee either and then he told me he did time with Sonny Sonny remembers every name meaning the girl leave I stopped at a pay phone was called Sonny give me the name he said I don't know the guy he says be careful and I ended up not he went to have a meeting we added a Frankie's in the afternoon where they want to start this company they'll put the 25 grand in there long as I guarantee it so we're sitting at the table Tommy sitting here my guy sitting here and Marino they sitting over there that toothpick in his mom penny loafers and his phone sitting on the thing and I sat there I said Oh gentlemen if you're willing to loan the money I guarantee the money I said don't know we want to start a company you gotta be part of it I said the only way I'll be part of it you got to form a corporation all right we take money out legally we pay taxes and I don't want no child porn we don't do none of that [ __ ] I said may they're very good oh yeah yeah yeah and set down the food was coming and this time he was always showing a lot of money and I just stopped down to my chair he looks at me today but it was from I see there's this guy claiming to be my friend I see buddy come on I got to talk to you I took him inside outside in the back of the parking lot I said I'm a little off side down I said I need five grand for a few days what sir yeah he said walk he had five grand on him he said could I give you a 45 on your I need 500 for the weekend I said yeah we took the forty five hundred forty five hundred and he bought the other 500 of me to fall on Monday he's it and I just can't get money from but I knew he was a flip a lot oh and how I found out was I had a friend that happen to be you said US Marshal way eventually inviting introduce the Sonny when he went back to New York and you especially knew everything was going on he said there's a guy have a toothpick in his mouth curly hair and penny loafers listen yet and he gave me his name FBI agent and obviously I blew that operation are out of the door and then it's the same agent that said that then there was cable boxes that were missing from LA City Jail supposedly I was the guy responsible for that and he was going to give me on an interstate transportation but I never brought nothing out of the state well you ultimately got five years five years was that a plea deal or was that a big deal okay how much were you facing life really you went from life to five years yeah pretty good deal very good deal how much have you spent on lawyers huh how much did you spend on lawyers fifty thousand but the lawyer to defend me in were appointed lawyers it was a quarter point yeah I fire a lawyer in the courtroom debate attorney there's what happens they initially the wrestlers for fight kilos of coke on the super in seeding and indictment they increased it to the 50 but the informant this guy for title there were like two different groups of the Colombo family man Michael you've you know trial was first in about five other guys and they made a real ass of this informant really bad actually judge Weinstein who's the oldest living judge still today on the court proclaimed him the worst informant he's ever seen in his life it was so bad they didn't want to use the informant against me but they wanted to use the tapes and my attorney had nothing to do with it want him in the courtroom and they just weren't gonna bring on me with he was a horrible horrible witness but they held he taped he taped sunny every day there was guy for tato his name was so I when we get ready to go to trial and we went for motions limine motions Sonny's lawyer put emotion in that sever sunny from the trial or pre movement preclude me from using the discovery that he was going to a me whacked and I was known as a renegade client to the lawyers in New York that's what they nicknamed me because I was writing my own motions even though I knew they'd be denied because it's not this is going to be a boring thing for a year all right it's all good yeah I knew they'd be denied because I submitted on my own they're gonna be submitted to any attorney but I knew that my judge read everything and I put a severance I wanted to be suffer from trial oh and I wanted my I felt my peers were not in Brooklyn then my peers were in Los Angeles which basically the truth and I wrote some game good motions and we all helped each other you know and present my motions well and the judge I I'm the one who got severed the judge said no way I'm going to sever mr. Francesc from the trial but I think maybe mr. spittle should be asked the US Attorney you got to noon tomorrow to convince me why mrs. fatal should not be severed back in court the next day he says your motion for severance is denied but if you could explain to me in legal terms that that discovery could be used for you or against you I'll make you make the decision I got up I defined exculpatory inculpatory that it could be used either way and he says I could miss you know what you decision I said I'll take the sub Ernst and I got off of that and that was lucky today in my life well you got five years at 65 years old yeah a senior citizen essentially going into prison for the first time for five years was it a hard five years be honored for yeah you know what is something I'd like to do again no but you know it's something that I know eventually could possibly happen someday I never dreamed it would be on a RICO conspiracy back in Brooklyn and the day that I did get arrested you know they bring out in handcuffs they don't see any sack butyl and put me on fall Drive where I lived in Beverly Hill for tourists and he said face down I face him down the street and he opened this trunk and the agent takes out the shackles and shackling me chaining me up and I'm looking straight ahead and the next intersection there's a white van and I asked the agent I said where's my buddy and I named the agent all he wanted to come he couldn't make it today I said [ __ ] I said he's taking pictures he's getting his rocks off man I believe firmly that FBI are like this they do their job they're good and like I said I taped the FBI they had 12 tapes on him one of them they did get ahold of and they had an informant posted online saying I'm a rat ever again help former calling me all right well already it's a hell of a story and ultimately although you had a good run I don't think anyone aspires to go to prison well by writing my book The Accidental gangster if I could stop one young man from entering a life from becoming a gangster then in the book was well worth it I agree appreciate your time and I wish you all the best thank you
